This may be a crazy question, but my mom, who is the new DVC owner, requested that I throw it out there. If she wants to stay in a one bedroom at SSR during the magic season, it will cost 243 points for the week. However, if she chooses to stay Sun-Thurs (27 pts.) and Fri-Sat. (54 pts.), it only costs 81 points. What am I missing here? Is it possible to set up your vacation in this way? Can you stay at one location for all seven days or would you have to move?

For Sun - Thurs it's 27 points per night, not 27 points for the entire period (135 points). For Fri - Sat. it's 54 points per night (108 points). The total for the week would be 243 points (135 + 108). Hope this helps.

Sunday through Thursday is 27 points per night, for a total of 135 points. LIkewise, Friday and Saturday is 54 points per night, for a total of 108 points. Adding both those numbers together give you 243 points for a week during Magic Season at SSR.

Another point to tell your mom:

A lot of people maximize their points by using them for Sun-Thurs. night reservations only. Then, if you want to stay add'l weekend days, you can pay out of pocket. Some options here: off-site (what we usually do via hotelkingdom, staying at cypress pointe), pay to stay on-site at a different resort (we've used the ap rate to stay at POFQ for example), or stay in your room using the DVC member discount when available (which is 25% off rack rate), linking the ressies together and not having to move. HTH

weekend are also nice to go visit Universal Studios and stay onsite there...

I generally stay offsite on fri or sat - if I stay at all... I come home lots on Friday. (or thursday night)
