I know this question is being asked a little late in the game, since we're leaving this afternoon for HHV! We usually eat at the Old Oyster Factory, but are thinking we should try somewhere else for dinner tomorrow night.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a great place to get seafood on the island? Thanks in advance!

The Old Oyster Factory would be my choice.

If you don't mind spending money you might try Charley's Crab. They are really good.

there are so many great seafood choices that it can make your head hurt trying to decide where to eat. OOF is a favorite on these boards, and it is very popular on the Island. You will have to just look through the dining out guide that you get to get an idea at what you want. For example, Alexanders has (USA)Southern/French prepared seafood. (sit on the patio for the best seat) Red Fish has a Southwestern/Asian Fusion type Seafood. These are very good places and part of the OOF group. The Captians Table is liked by some on these boards and it offers ocean veiw dining. Scotts Fish Market is right across the resort and you can sit outside and listen to the mellow type live music. (take a look at the "Little Toot" at the docks) I like the music guy at San Miguels better though. Eugenes is a very good place for fresh grilled and steamed seafood. It can be hard to find but it is worth it. They have a fantastic view of the ICW. I can not say anything about the "Fried Seafood" type places. Even though they have brolied and steamed fish also, we have no will power to not order the fried stuff if we go. I am quite confident that most would be quite good. have lots of fun as Wolfgang says "live love, EAT!" OH YEA, i AM FROM GSO TOO!

We have tried a variety of fried seafood places and find the Crazy Crab (the one when you first get on the island, not the one in Sea Pines) to be the best for that type of thing. Nice atmosphere but also very kid friendly. They also have a large outdoor deck area overlooking the marsh where you can have a drink and listen to music while you wait. Also a small playground area in front of the deck where you can keep an eye on your kids while you relax (now there's a great idea).

For "fancy" seafood, we like Charlie's E'toile (just moved to New Orleans Road or Le Bistro (in Pineland Mall). You won't go wrong with either of these two (rather pricey) excellent restaurants.

If you go to the Le Bistro get the lamb. TRUST ME. :)

Boathouse II is very good.
