DVC Experts,

New owner here :yay:... Anyways, I have a question about banking my points. Now I just purchased 200 points at VGC, still waiting to close. I was given an Aug use year and all of the '09 points. Now I don't plan on travelling before August 1 2010, so I assume I'm supposed to bank the August '09 points to use them in my August '10 year. Is this correct so far?

Now is it true that I have to bank these points before March 31? What about if I call now to make a reservation in September, do I still have to bank the points or will they deduct the '09 points when I make the reservation?

OK, now here is the real sceanario... I want to do a late December trip to a WDW resort. Total points needed would be around 325. Now I bank my '09 points, then I call in May to make the Dec reservation, Do they automatically take the first 200 banked points then take the remainder 125 points from my '10 use year points? Or do they wipe out the '10 points first then take the 125 from the banked '09 points?

Yes, you have to bank the points from your 2009 UY into your 2010 UY to use them.

You do indeed, have until March 31st to do this. If you are planning to call for a reservation before this date, you can ask them to bank them in the same call that you want to book your Sept reservation. They won't do it automatically so be sure to bank first.

When you call to make the Dec 2010 reservation, MS should use the banked points first and then finish up with the current UY points. However, it is always a good idea to make sure during the call by asking them to confirm that they did indeed do this.

I have also been on the phone with MS and had my dvcmember.com account open at the same time, just be sure.

Good luck and congratulations!!!

Hey thanks for the info....

Follow up question... How hard is it to book a 2 bedroom around christmas? Arrive before Christmas and leave after, say Dec 20-Dec28?

At VGC you need to book at 11 months, 9 AM EST. There are only 60 total units in all combinations and last I read, not all 60 are available to DVC Members.

:) Bill

Yea I know about the 11 month window. I was wondering if booking a 2br somewhere at WDW durring Christmas would be difficult 7 months out.

you never know with the economy in the tank...but usually, it's very tough to book during december and especially the week of christmas.

call right at 7 months out and right when MS opens if at all possible - if nothing is available, i'd recommend waitlisting at SSR to give yourself the best chance of finding something onsite. (IIRC, you can only have 2 waitlists now.)

it might not be that bad, but it's a very popular time for DVCers.

:wizard: good luck!

I think you can wait list 2 different villas, as long as those are your only wait lists.
