Question about babies and Disney resorts

Can anyone tell me which Disney resort would be best to go to with a 6 month old baby? I know that the baby would not be allowed into the pools at any of the resorts, but I am wondering if any of the resorts have a sandy beach area that babies could play in? If there are any of the value or moderate resorts that would be good that would be better for our budget. Thanks!

As long as the baby is wearing a tight fitting swim diaper I see no reason why they can't go in the pool.

Many people have posted on her that swim floats are allowed (arm type or jacket type) and that some of the resorts allow the boat type baby floats while others don't.

From the pictures and descriptions of the resorts it actually seems like the moderates and value resorts are better suited to children. We've stayed at the Beach Club before and I personally felt that the play areas and pools were best suited for children at least preschool age or older.

We were at WL earlier this month with our 3 1/2 yo DD. There were many families there with babies. WL has a kiddie pool, a theme pool, a quiet pool and a beach area. Babies used both the kiddie and theme pool many in baby floats. We really loved this resort. One of its many features is boat transportation to MK and CR. The MK boat was large and we were able to push DD stroller on/off without getting her out. This was really nice during those trips where she fell asleep. Also, to get to Epcot we took the boat to MK and got on the monorail (again pushing the stroller right on/off). There is bus service for the other parks. This resort attracts families with children of varying ages because it's so close to MK and is lower in price than the other deluxe resorts.

DS went in the pool at ASMu when he was 4mos old and the pool at CSR at 11 mos. He wore a swimmie diaper and bathing suit over that.

I just got off of the Disney Wonder 4 day cruise, and on the cruise babies and children not potty trained were not allowed in any of the pools, even with swim diapers. Does anyone know why they would have that rule on the ship but not at the resorts?

Maybe its because if a baby or toddler who is not potty trained had an accident in the pool, they may not be able to drain it the proper way.
I know I'm not swimming in a poopie pool!!

BWV's had a graet pool. My DS is almost 3 and my DD is 11 months. she did very well in the nice shallow kiddie pool there.

We've stayed at both BWV and VWL. I think the villas are great for families with babies b/c they have refrigerator/freezers for formula, washers and dryers (you can pack less) and the extra space is great for when baby needs to nap!

We didn't really use the pool at VWL, but the pool at BWV is fine for babies!

Our son will be 9 months old when we go in October and we are staying at the BWV.

I'd be more concerned with older toddlers whose parents ""think"" they are potty trained than those little ones in swim diapers. I'd bet there are quite a few 3-5 year olds who pee in the pool without thinking about it. Those swim diapers are pretty tight and I for one can tell whem my infant is "trying" to fill her pants. You can never tell how many older kids are forgeting to use the rooms, though. I guess that is what chlorine is for....

At those pools with zero-level entry areas (e.g. Polynesian or AKL), I'm sure you'd be especially welcome to have your child with you in the shallow part wearing a swim diaper. That's what the zero-entry feature is for! (I don't know which if any pools you'd be excluded from.)

Well, there are several reasons, one being that there is now a regulation involving ALL cruise lines that no non-potty trained kids be allowed in the pools aboard cruise ships. Also, there is limited filtration and chemicals used on cruise ships, they are usually fresh or salt water, taken directly from the sea. DCL is one of the few lines that treats the water to make it fresh water (the pools on DCL are drained and refilled each night, due to lack of TONS of chemicals.) Anyway, due to the limited filtration and usually lack of chemicals, it is VERY unsafe for children to have an accident in the pool. If there is an accident, the entire pool has to be drained on the ship and then refilled. At a resort pool, there is adequate filtration, and TONS of chemicals in the pool to ward off bacteria. Now, I wouldn't want to swim in a poopie pool, but the entire pool doesn't need to be drained, and most if not all bacteria will be contained by the chemicals. The resort pool won't have to be drained, they will just remove it and then check the make up of the water and adjust the chemicals as necessary. If the water is unsafe, they will close the pool until it is safe, but I've never seen this happen at a WDW resort. Also, due to the size of cruise line pools VS resort pools there is a smaller area resulting in more bacteris per square inch.

We just got back from the WL and BC with a 4 YO and 15 MO. The both loved the kiddie pool at WL (it is only a foot deep). You can use wings, we had a blow up boat for the 15 MO. the 4 YO wore her life jacket in the bigger pool. At the BC, we always went to the sandy part of the pool on the YC side. It had zero entry, the kids could play in the sand, and only got up to 2 ft. deep. Both kids loved it as well, and there were lots of smaller babies than mine in there. The only thing that wasn't allowed in the BC kiddie pool was bigger tubes (they could only be used in the deeper water). We loved the convenience of the BC to Epcot and MGM, plus Boardwalk.

When we were at the Poly last December the volcano pool was evacuated and suddenly closed when a young toddler had an accident. (not pee--basically I think a swim diaper--failed to contain something) I don't know how long it was closed, we went over to the Quiet Pool instead. I think they said it would be closed about an hour?? They were cleaning it up and adjusting the chemicals, just as the previous poster mentioned. The lifeguards acted like it happens all the time.

We stayed at WL two years ago and a toddler had an accident in the pool and they closed it for 24 hours. The child did not have a swim diaper on at the time.

I just purchased four packs of swim diapers for disney for my grandson who will be 10 months. When he gets out of the pool we will change his diaper before he gets back in. I hope we have enough.
