I'm going to try to ask this as easy as possible....sorry if I confuse you....

Can I book a package when I have an AP....still get tickets for DM and Dbrother....but get the discounted rooms so it makes the package cheaper?....does this make sense? lol

I think what I am trying to ask is Can you book a package w/ cheaper (discounted) room rates, and get tickets for those with out APs?

Reason being is we would like to try the MYW with Dining, and were wondering how you go about this if you have an AP..or if you can?

Sorry if this has been posted before!! THanks, in advance for help!!!!!!

No, you can't do that.

The ONLY discount that can apply to rooms on a package are AAA rates. You must book the package through either a AAA certified agency, or AAA themselves.

Furthermore, EVERYBODY on the reservation has to have a ticket. So you couldn't just not get a ticket for the AP holder.

The only way around this (and it's not cheap) is to book the dining package with 1 day base tickets. It's the cheapest way to do it, but you're still losing out on AP discounts on rooms, and the AP holder has admission they don't need. BUT, if you did want to do that - you could upgrade the admissions seperately. So let's say there's two in your party. One of you has an AP. You book the package with a 1 day base ticket. Then the non-AP holder can upgrade to a 5 day ticket with hopping, but the AP holder can keep the 1 day base ticket. Make sense?

I really think it's a lot of hoops to jump through to get the dining. You may be better off to just spend $50 and get the Disney Dining Experience with your AP and save on the room, and get the 20% off at the restaurants.

Thanks for all the info!! I figured I would do the DDE if you couldn't do that. THANKS!!!

Afraid not, how do you think Disney makes money on the package? If you do the math, it is cheaper to get the AP rate for the room and purchase the DDE card. :rolleyes1

No, they will not let you stack discounts.

However, this is what we did. We needed more than one room, so we booked one room at Pop at the package price. Put 4 people in one room (2 adults, and 2 juniors). So that gives us 36 dinning credits, 36 counter credits and 36 snacks. Then we booked our room at a discount (no dining package). So now we will share the dining credits and eat together at some of the nicer places and pay out of pocket at the cheaper places. Everyone wins like this-- especially since one in our group is a child, so we will order the kids meals and another person is a life time weight watcher member and eats very little. Since the only child will not be using the dining credits, he gets most of the snack credits to use as he wishes for 10 days. This plan worked for us, but is an idea. As for the 4 1-day tickets, some in the group can use them, while several others will use them to apply to our AP renewals next year.

Actually we did the math and this will save us tons of money. I had a room at pop for our big kids with a 40% discount. For $500 more I got 4 1-day tickets (which will be used by some, and others will apply them to their APs for a later date), which leaves about $320 for the costs of dining. For 36 counter service credits alone at $10 each, that is $360. We already recouped our money before we even start using the table service. We figured at $50 a credit that could total $1800 for 36 credits, so giving up a discounted room was well worth it it you choose a room at a value resort. I have no problem paying an extra $320 for over $2000 in dining expenses (and I didn't even add in the 36 snack credits, which would be another $80). We even have a dining discount card, like the DDE, but ours is free and we can use it at all resort food courts, along with sit down restraurants. But this was still a better deal. Everyone needs to do the math and see how this works for them. Obviously folks choosing delux resorts are barely breaking even if that, it's only at the value and moderates that it's truely a huge savings.
