Question about add on

We we got a small point contract 70 points resale we want to add on 50 direct...question is should we add on same resort different use year which is available right now. Or should we buy same use year different resort? What would you do?

Same UY makes it so much easier to use the points. You can combine them more easily at seven months to book one resort. Even with same resort, two UYs. You cannot combine them to make a single night, even at 11 months out at your home resort. Do you want a different resort?

I would not buy a separate UY in this situation unless you have specific plans where that works best for you. I'd wait list and look for resale also for the same resort, the time waiting will be worth it. Second choice would be same UY different resort.

If you're buying the same resort, I would definitely buy the same UY so that you can work with the points as a single pot of points. If you have a different UY, you would have to make two separate reservations with the two different contracts and then link them if you were trying to make one contiguous resort stay.
Having said that, if you have decided that a different use year really works for you and you want to move into a different use year but love the resort, then that might work better for you!

A possible different approach is to buy a larger contact resale, maybe 150, and sell the one you have. The numbers only work well buying and reselling in this exact situation because of the currently higher prices of smaller contracts and if you go for a more normal size contract resale. Or you could buy larger and rent the extra points when needed.
