Question about 2 year old...

Are children 3 and under really free? I know admission to the park is free and dining - they can eat off of your plate but what about hotel? How do they figure into the room pricing?

2 year old is free. Disney only charges are more than 2 adults in a room. No hidden charges unless you choose to buy the 2 year old a meal OOP

Once the child turns three, they count towards room occupancy and they need theme park admission.

If you have more than one child under the age of three, only one will not count towards occupancy. So you can't show up with two year old octuplets and they don't count. Seven will count and one will not.

Your room price is based on two adults in the room. There are only extra charges if there are more than two adults in the room. Rooms have occupancy limits, but unless you are more than two adults there will not be any additional charges.

Yes, they are really free. Park admission is free and so is dining as long as you do not order a kid's meal for them. Room PRICING is free BUT, you have to factor them into room OCCUPANCY. Make sure you have them listing on being in the room.

In your case, you are pretty much set on every room at Disney World since your five year old will be a "child" and the 2 year old will be considered an infant and sleep in a free Pack N Play. You could also put the 2 year old in a bed with the five year old but that's your call.

The only thing you cannot do is get a king bed room. The occupancy there is three.

No, the occupancy is two unless there is a day bed in the room to give you three real sleeping spaces. Plus one under the age of three.

UNDER 3 is free, not an actual 3 year old. Disney has 3-9 year olds as the child age pricing.

Exactly. Which is why the OP can't get a king bed room. Because she will four people. Herself, the husband, the five year old and the two year old. If she didn't have the five year old, she COULD get a king bed room. Two on the bed, one in the free pack and play.

You are an occupancy of two with an infant under the age of 3, which is allowed in a king bed room.

Once the child turns three, then you are an occupancy of 3 and can no longer get a king bed room, since you would exceed the occupancy.

I'd like to add, if you get a meal plan be sure to check, check, and triple check that any OOP meals for your 2YO that you order are actually OOP and not charged against your meal credits.

We took 2 toddlers this spring (2 & 1 YO) and while they ate free at buffets and off our plates, sometimes we still ordered something off the kid menu and requested we pay OOP for this. Twice the restaurants erroneously charged our meal plans for those meals and we had to contact guest services to get it straightened out. It all ended up okay, but it took two trips down to the desk after the kids were asleep to sort it out. I took over the job of checking all receipts/remaining meal credits after that
