Queen Elizabeth funeral and looking forward

Interesting that when Charles referred to Harry and Meghan, he didn't use the titles Prince and Princess. I wonder if he's stripping them of everything?
There titles were taken away when they stopped doing Royal things. They are Duke and Dutches of Sussex I believe. I was waiting for him to call the children Prince and Princess but he didn’t.

I might be wrong about The kids I know Megan made a big deal about the kids titles.

Harry is still a Prince. He stopped using HRH when he stepped away.
Meghan is not a Princess so why would he call her one?

It was a nice speech.

I really do not think he is going to give H&M new titles, though I believe that he might offer to give them to their children, now that he can legally do so. (Of course, if so, he will be hoping that they decline, as Anne and Edward did on behalf of their own children. Harry is a prince by birth and always will be unless he renounces his place in the succession, which I just cannot see him doing, even though at this point his odds of taking the throne are vanishingly slim.)

Technically, as the second son of the monarch, Harry's normal title at this point would be the Duke of York. The obstacle is that there already *is* a Duke of York, his Uncle Andrew. I suspect the plan is to give the York title to Harry when Andrew dies, and Sarah Ferguson, if she is still alive, would become Sarah, Dowager Duchess of York. (Another question re: a title plan, is the question of whether Charles grants Edward his father's title, Duke of Edinburgh, which was the late Duke's stated wish. Apparently he also wished for the title to become hereditary, and that's the tricky part; the UK hasn't created a new life peerage since 1984.)

Speaking of Andrew, I have a feeling that we will be hearing soon that he has decided to relocate and give up his life lease on Royal Lodge, Windsor (which is by far the nicest secondary property on the Windsor estate grounds, and coincidentally, the house where the Queen grew up.) I think odds are VERY good that he will soon be told that the Wales' need the house. He and Charles were never close, and the Epstein connection was the final straw. Charles now considers Andrew the proverbial blot on the family escutcheon, and he will not want him underfoot next door at Windsor anymore. It will be interesting to see how that relationship shakes out going forward after the funeral.

It's already announced that Beatrice will take over the role of Counsellor from Andrew. If Harry is asked to give up that title/job/responsibility, then it would go to Eugenie, I think as next in line over 21 years old. I'm not sure if Camilla is included automatically or not, and if she is then #4.

It's very likely that Charles will die before Andrew, so it's up to William to give Harry the title. I think it would make more sense by then to give the Duke of York to one of his own children.

I thought his speech was very well done & quite touching.

Harry is a prince by birth. Meghan was given the duchess title upon her marriage to Harry when he was also given the Duke of Sussex title, &, since King Charles apparently plans to streamline the official Royal Family, I doubt there are any plans for her to be made a princess.

It's usually the spouse and the first 4 in line (above the age of 18? 21?) Andrew is still on it. Beatrice is replacing Charles.
It will be Camilla, William, Harry, Andrew and Beatrice.

Or did you see something to the contrary? I haven't seen anything else.

No, it didn't even occur to me that Charles was one. I just assumed it was to replace Andrew. My bad. Should have read it better.

She became a princess upon her marriage to Harry. She isn't a blood princess, of course, but she is a princess.

Meghan has never been called or referred to as a Princess.

Catherine has never been called Princess Catherine, but will be now. Her full title will be Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.
I'm sure on Prince George's birth certificate as her job title it states Princess of the United Kingdom but that is the only reference I've ever heard of.

I just had a chance to listen to the king’s speech. Very well done. I can’t imagine stringing two coherent words together in the wake of my mother’s death. It was remarkably well written and well delivered. Made me consider British citizenship for a brief second. But that’s just the very ancient drop of Tory blood in me. (Mom told me not to talk about it.)

I read somewhere that the Wales’ may just move into Windsor Castle now.

That’s quite a mouthful of a name

My understanding....Princess was never Meghan's title but occupation. She quit her job as a Princess of the UK. The Queen gifted her a title...Duchess of Sussex.
