Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. 61 now going to 74. We had some thunder and lightning late, and some light rain. If I go by what they say, there won't be any more until Saturday.

I may mow the lawn today, or may wait until tomorrow. There are a few shaggy spots, but it's not looking too bad. If the weather keeps up like this, I won't have to mow many more times this season.

Not a word out of Summer, all it's doing is making me sure I've made the right decision to not help her the next time she needs it.

Have a good day,

Good morning :)

I had such a fantastic Sunday. God gave me the extra blessing of a surprise visit and time to work with my dear friend and therapist. By His grace, I continue to make wonderful progress. This morning, I will be advocating for the complete care I need longer term.

Dad's visit as always meant so much and extra yesterday because it was so reassuring to see he was okay. That was something horrible that did happen yesterday. Reminder to please be aware of your surroundings and do not do what my dad did and put yourself in the unsafe situation of being alone with someone who may not be at a healthy place in life.

What happened above? Dad, first of all, is fine. Please don't be concerned. Ralphs offers home or for me facility delivery through Boost. An Instacart worker is who fulfills the order and delivers it.

Dad was counting on the delivery person yesterday morning bringing two cases of Aquafina inside our apartment yesterday for him which is the main reason he pays for Boost! Our delivery instructions are fir the shopper (who is also the delivery person) to text when they arrive at dad's apartment building and to ring the doorbell so dad can let them in to bring ordered items onto our waiting card table just inside our apartment.

The Instacart driver yesterday did not communicate beyond the automated by the Instacart system, "your shopper is in the store." Delivery windows are within a two hour period. Dad had not heard any updates from Boost with only ten minutes to go so he opened our front door to discover the cases of water and everything else were left. Then he made a huge safety mistake! Do not ever do this friends, please!

Dad could see from the top of our stairs someone getting into a car out front. He called out asking if the man was from Boost. Instead of a normal answer, the response of the worker was to come charging up to my dad, get in his face, and start going off on him! My beloved dad was threatened and told he must be on drugs, etc. Boost never brings orders inside someone's apartment (they do all the time). The guy wanted on about cocaine all the while recording this interaction on his phone. Dad should have immediately gone inside and locked the door! Thank God, nothing beyond this happened but as you can imagine, my dad was sure shaken up!

Dad did call Boost Customer Service. They credited his Ralph's account and promised the driver would never be assigned to him again. Yikes. How horrible. Be careful dear friends, please! Extra safety prayers for my dad appreciated.

I will check back in later.

Busy day yesterday as we celebrated my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. Actual is today but Mom is a teacher and Daddy (my son) also works. I had brought some of my gifts early a couple of weeks ago because one, it was a lot, and two, I knew she would be overwhelmed. She actually did very well. Party started at 11am and her Dad took her out for breakfast earlier to Silver Diner, just the two of them. He asked her did she want SD or First Watch as she was in her car seat in the 2nd row and her answer was 'I just want to sleep. I'm so tired.'

Anyway she woke up had breakfast and arrived back home in time for the fun. It was a Winnie the Pooh theme. Very cute. Her other GM made her a Winnie the Pooh character dress, the house was full of balloons and WtP flags greeted us at the front door. Mom made a small decorated cake plus individual cupcakes and treat bags. There was a small table of serve yourself, sandwich fixings, chips, drinks and veggie tray. All of this was very simple, inexpensive but nicely prepared by DiL who just has the touch plus now a large craft room! Party attendees totaled 15, 5 were children, all cousins.

She enjoyed opening her gifts and wanted to just play with each as she opened it. This she was allowed to do and it sort of blended into the overall party rather than all at once. My son had told my youngest DD to 'get her shoes so everything wouldn't be toys' which worked quite well. DD got her the shoes, a pair of the velcro crocs sandals and a pair of light up kids shoes. She's still jumping around in those! Not sure they were what my son had in mind but she loved them! Got a video of her playing in them last night and another photo of her in them this morning as she heads to her other grandma's for babysitting this morning - they live a couple of streets away.

Meanwhile one of my smoke detectors started beeping and I have to replace it. That's my morning plan. I also have to manage a few other things so off to start my day.

edit: forgot to post this in the morning

I'll add that while out to get my smoke detector someone told me to check with the fire department for a free one. Went by and they were out and I went to leave as they received a call. Car was now locked in the fenced and gated parking area. Fortunately for me someone noticed me before the truck actually exited the building and used the remote to open the gate so I didn't have to wait for the fire truck to return. For a few seconds I thought I was going to have to sit on the curb.

Judique Your DGD's birthday sounds so cute and fun.

Good morning. It is 60 now with temps heading to around 75. I like this cooler weather. I hope to walk at the lake today. Jeff added trip photos to his family album and they are so great. The kids had alot of good character interactions and fun on rides. A really cute video showed Sam poking Goofy in the nose and then hugging him. I am sure they are tired now and resting up for school tomorrow. Kenny's kids go back Thursday. The summer went by quickly.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Glad you enjoyed the photos from Jeff's album! I've been enjoying party pictures and after party photos here. Would love to share but my kids don't want their kids on the internet and I agree with them. In the past I had been allowed to share older GD's pictures but I've personally tried to remove all of them.

In other news trying to switch my November reservation completely into DVC. By stalking the site now I have 4 out of 5 nights. I have a backup night booked as well (Swan area) for the one that is waitlisted. My nights are split between BCV and BWV so not easy to get but I scored a night at BCV this morning. Around the 31 day point people cancel as otherwise they go into holding. I'll be watching the site as often as it will let me log in as it tends to being glitchy.

Yesterday my good neighbor (they are all good!) mowed my lawn in the back and weedwacked a lot of the edges. DD spotted him out there as my home is pretty soundproof (new windows) so I didn't hear the machines. This afternoon he will do the front area which is smaller.

I didn't win the powerball last night but I did buy a ticket. I'll get another for Wednesday as it is very high. $2 ticket, lol. I don't get too crazy and really would love to win to make life very comfortable for my family's future as it's difficult to predict the future.

Today I think I'll work in my basement. Did laundry yesterday and saw a million things I could improve. DD works from home today so that is a good opportunity.

Have more laundry to do also but can sort while the machines do the washing and drying.

Love the Winnie the Pooh birthday story, and glad Jeff and kids had a great time at WDW just before school starting. What a great time to go! (Even though I’m sure it was scorching!)

Been working on my clothes for two days, just a couple of hours at a time. Will be at it again today. Making headway. Got two bags for donation so far but it wasn’t easy, lol. I literally tried everything on and struggled with each decision. 😬 First day I should’ve waited to take my shower as I got dusty afterward. Learned my lesson yesterday. Sort of packing as I’m going along. Last few trips we’ve had were in winter, so this requires a whole shift. Can’t let Toto see my suitcase as he gets upset. As it is he knows something’s up. Sat on my bed watching me rather than sleeping. Poor guy.

Prayers still welcome as I heal and start the radiation process. 🙏

Wishing everyone a good Tuesday. 🐥

PS I posted G and Toto on slo’s daily poll thread today which was about dogs.

A gorgeous sunny, 72 degree day in store. 58 now, went down to 53 last night. First time I've been able to turn the AC off and sleep with the windows open. I slept so much better.

Tiger sat on the arm of the chair until after 1 yesterday afternoon. Silly cat. There are much more comfy chairs she could sit in. She's out there again now. They all just had some fresh catnip and are rolling and laying in the sun.
Day 6 of Summer not showing up with my money. If she doesn't show up on Thursday with the full amount, she's going to find me sitting in her driveway waiting for her.

Cleaned the fridge, gathered trash and took it down. Going to put in a load of laundry and make my grocery list and I'll be done with chores.

Prayers sent @Pea-n-Me

Have a good day

We had the AC on last night, but this morning I was glad for the chance to open up the house and turn off the AC! I think we will be able to go all week like that, at least I hope so.

Our grass has also started to slow down it's growth rate, which is super convenient in terms of not having to mow so much each week.

Good day everyone. Hope you are all doing well. Thought I'd pop in on the thread while I had a short break today.

This is the time of year where the crabs are in the upper river and in the creek behind the farm, so we keep a inflatable w/ a small motor on it to go put out crab traps in the early AM or late afternoons. Husband is going up Lynn's way on Thursday for the long weekend to hang out & help out with his uncle & cousins at their farm, and go to some sorta men's-only social event they have up there. I'm going to indulge in a little shopping for our upcoming trip this weekend, and like I've read some of you mention - it's time to cull the summer flowers in the planters around the house. They are looking quite tired and done.

Kids have already brought up the upcoming holidays and whose going where & when and whatnot. I think we have Christmas sorted, everyone is coming over Christmas Day... eldest son & DIL are going to my folks in FL for Thanksgiving, I'm not sure about youngest & his wife. We will see. We have other family members who often come over for that holiday so I'll still have a houseful I'm guessing.

Going to be a short but busy week for me. I have three meetings today plus watching my 9 year old niece (husband just took her out to lunch - her first 'business lunch' haha!), tomorrow I have a afternoon meeting, Thursday I have three meetings and Friday I am out for surgical procedure (minor, just a PITA time consuming thing). I think I'll stop by the outlets on the way home from the Dr. on Friday and exchange a candle I ordered from Yankee, they have a outlet there. I thought I ordered one thing, but turns out I ordered the wrong thing. Of course, my way to and back from the Dr. on Friday is on the main route to the Shore and it's a holiday weekend so I'm sure the traffic will be fun.

Have a wonderful Labor Day holiday weekend everyone.

@flyingdumbo127, oh my, I am so Thankful that your dad is OK, what a harrowing experience for him.

Am catching up on reading. Not feeling particularly well…have cancelled going to the Halloween party tonight. They did credit my account.
