Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. 61 now going to 74. We had some thunder and lightning late, and some light rain. If I go by what they say, there won't be any more until Saturday.

I may mow the lawn today, or may wait until tomorrow. There are a few shaggy spots, but it's not looking too bad. If the weather keeps up like this, I won't have to mow many more times this season.

Not a word out of Summer, all it's doing is making me sure I've made the right decision to not help her the next time she needs it.

Have a good day,

Good morning :)

I had such a fantastic Sunday. God gave me the extra blessing of a surprise visit and time to work with my dear friend and therapist. By His grace, I continue to make wonderful progress. This morning, I will be advocating for the complete care I need longer term.

Dad's visit as always meant so much and extra yesterday because it was so reassuring to see he was okay. That was something horrible that did happen yesterday. Reminder to please be aware of your surroundings and do not do what my dad did and put yourself in the unsafe situation of being alone with someone who may not be at a healthy place in life.

What happened above? Dad, first of all, is fine. Please don't be concerned. Ralphs offers home or for me facility delivery through Boost. An Instacart worker is who fulfills the order and delivers it.

Dad was counting on the delivery person yesterday morning bringing two cases of Aquafina inside our apartment yesterday for him which is the main reason he pays for Boost! Our delivery instructions are fir the shopper (who is also the delivery person) to text when they arrive at dad's apartment building and to ring the doorbell so dad can let them in to bring ordered items onto our waiting card table just inside our apartment.

The Instacart driver yesterday did not communicate beyond the automated by the Instacart system, "your shopper is in the store." Delivery windows are within a two hour period. Dad had not heard any updates from Boost with only ten minutes to go so he opened our front door to discover the cases of water and everything else were left. Then he made a huge safety mistake! Do not ever do this friends, please!

Dad could see from the top of our stairs someone getting into a car out front. He called out asking if the man was from Boost. Instead of a normal answer, the response of the worker was to come charging up to my dad, get in his face, and start going off on him! My beloved dad was threatened and told he must be on drugs, etc. Boost never brings orders inside someone's apartment (they do all the time). The guy wanted on about cocaine all the while recording this interaction on his phone. Dad should have immediately gone inside and locked the door! Thank God, nothing beyond this happened but as you can imagine, my dad was sure shaken up!

Dad did call Boost Customer Service. They credited his Ralph's account and promised the driver would never be assigned to him again. Yikes. How horrible. Be careful dear friends, please! Extra safety prayers for my dad appreciated.

I will check back in later.

Busy day yesterday as we celebrated my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. Actual is today but Mom is a teacher and Daddy (my son) also works. I had brought some of my gifts early a couple of weeks ago because one, it was a lot, and two, I knew she would be overwhelmed. She actually did very well. Party started at 11am and her Dad took her out for breakfast earlier to Silver Diner, just the two of them. He asked her did she want SD or First Watch as she was in her car seat in the 2nd row and her answer was 'I just want to sleep. I'm so tired.'

Anyway she woke up had breakfast and arrived back home in time for the fun. It was a Winnie the Pooh theme. Very cute. Her other GM made her a Winnie the Pooh character dress, the house was full of balloons and WtP flags greeted us at the front door. Mom made a small decorated cake plus individual cupcakes and treat bags. There was a small table of serve yourself, sandwich fixings, chips, drinks and veggie tray. All of this was very simple, inexpensive but nicely prepared by DiL who just has the touch plus now a large craft room! Party attendees totaled 15, 5 were children, all cousins.

She enjoyed opening her gifts and wanted to just play with each as she opened it. This she was allowed to do and it sort of blended into the overall party rather than all at once. My son had told my youngest DD to 'get her shoes so everything wouldn't be toys' which worked quite well. DD got her the shoes, a pair of the velcro crocs sandals and a pair of light up kids shoes. She's still jumping around in those! Not sure they were what my son had in mind but she loved them! Got a video of her playing in them last night and another photo of her in them this morning as she heads to her other grandma's for babysitting this morning - they live a couple of streets away.

Meanwhile one of my smoke detectors started beeping and I have to replace it. That's my morning plan. I also have to manage a few other things so off to start my day.

edit: forgot to post this in the morning

I'll add that while out to get my smoke detector someone told me to check with the fire department for a free one. Went by and they were out and I went to leave as they received a call. Car was now locked in the fenced and gated parking area. Fortunately for me someone noticed me before the truck actually exited the building and used the remote to open the gate so I didn't have to wait for the fire truck to return. For a few seconds I thought I was going to have to sit on the curb.
