Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Lynn Hope Summer continues to honor her commitments to you. You have been so kind.

Good morning. It is 53 now with temps heading to 80. I have enjoyed the cooler weather over the past few days. I am taking Kenny's kids out to lunch today. It is ice cream for lunch day. I do it once a year and asked Kenny if the kids want to join me as he has them for 5 days now that it is 50 50 custody. Next Friday I will have them for a sleepover. They have been asking for a while.

Off to work. I am taking a couple of hours off today. Have a good day.

Big hug dear Snowysmom. You are such a wonderful grandma. My grandma from Heaven is smiling down on you. She sure loved ice cream and would have helped you out today. Such a fun experience for all of you that the kiddos will always remember.

Dad and I have a neighbor who is now a grandma. I texted with her yesterday :)

I believe today is going to be very special. I did text a new supporter and friend who is going directly to bat for me to get needed care that will be incredible. God willing I get a yes later today or certainly by Monday.

I watched a movie yesterday that made me smile to think of you, my Quacker family. Faith of Angels is the true story of how God gathers together a community to save a boy trapped in a mine. Faith and genuine support and prayer, care, makes all the difference. God has indelibly graced my life with a support team here of so many kind people who hav stood by me and helped get me to today, make God's plan for me my reality. And 5 years ago, God gifted me, my Quacker family, all of you. I thank Him always for keeping us together. Thank each of you for you. Happy Friday to all. You make a loving difference! :)

Good morning. Temps will be low 80's today. Rain tomorrow and Sunday, then temps dropping into the 70's next week. I'll be glad when it's cool enough to turn the AC off and open the windows, and so will the cats. They sit on the sills or their window seats looking out, but they can't hear the birds and don't get the fresh air. Miss Tiger is bad again, didn't show up at all yesterday or this morning.

Summer was supposed to let me know if she went to the hospital yesterday. She has a bad rash under her stomach which she thought was infected. I tried texting and calling several times, before she finally answered me after dinner. She had been out all day doing Walmart deliveries. Said her stomach looked better so she didn't go. She didn't think she was going to make it here to pay me back until this morning, which I said was fine. I'm not letting her out of it.

Off to do some light cleaning and get that over with. Have a good day everyone

If she is overweight (which I believe you may have said before that she was), that can be a yeast or fungal rash which happens in hot weather when moisture gets trapped in skin folds like under a bigger belly, or under breasts, groins, etc. Key is it has to be kept clean, so showering or bathing it daily is a must, and clean with a mild soap and her hand, not a facecloth (which can rip the skin and spread germs elsewhere). Blot dry. When dry she can try an OTC steroid cream like hydrocortisone and later same day some OTC miconazole cream twice a day for a couple of days. Once it gets less angry she can stop the creams and then try some medicated powder (like Gold Bond or miconazole, not dollar store brand) to keep it dry. Sometimes if blood sugars run high, it can feed the yeast or fungus and make it worse, so trying to avoid things like concentrated sweets could help, also. HTH Summer. This is generally treatable at home.

I'm almost inspired to organize my bathroom closet. I really should, but I need to work up the motivation.

Finally did it today.

We must know how many bars of soap you have! :rotfl2:

IMG_0852.jpeg

I found a couple more after I took this pic, so the final total was 20  (7 full size and 13 travel - including a Mickey one and one from Great Wolf Lodge.)

The other thing I don't have to buy for a loooooonnnng time is band-aids :rotfl:

But it does look nice and neat now:

(The basket at the bottom got cut off - it's wash cloths.)

The red thing in the top left corner is a fire blanket. - We have one downstairs as well, and they are my plug for the day. - Everybody should get these if you can!!

Good morning. Sunny and 84 today.

I never heard from Summer today and I'm done reminding her. She didn't keep her word, so the Bank of Lynn is closed as of today. If her mother doesn't help her the next time she needs it, that's her problem. I'm done.

Have a good day

Good morning. It is in the 60s now with temps heading to 80. Good lake walking weather. I have been to Wegman's, cleaned the bathrooms, and changed the bed. Jeff texted me a picture of the kids at MK yesterday. They went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. The girls had the works while the boys get their hair combed and pixie dust sprinkled. They had dinner the Cinderella's Royal Table. He texted me today as they were standing in line for Seven Dwarves ride. I don't know how they get everyone up and out early in the morning. I guess they get ready the night before and just need to get dressed and get water bottles filled. They will be back tomorrow. I took Kenny's kids to Friendly's for lunch and ice cream. There was only one waitress waiting on everyone so it took a long time. The kids got a bit ansty. But we had a good lunch.

I was looking in my second bathroom closet and found more soap hiding! I found 10 bars of ivory soap and the wrappers are melded to the soap so must have been traveling around with me for years! Off to the trash! I now have only 3 bars of soap as I use body wash and liquid soap at the sinks for hand washing. Ivory goes with me on vacay.

Have a good Saturday.

Good morning everyone :)

I'm sorry dear Lynn:hug:

Craft was fun yesterday although only a couple of residents participated along with one of the activity assistants. More importantly, God as always and forever is walking so close with me to His promise of a full recovery. I made wonderful two day progress by His love with support and care from the person He sent to walk beside me all the way.

God willing dad and I will visit at lunchtime.

Have a wonderful Saturday friends.

Bobbi Have a great time. Safe travels.

Good morning. Another cool morning at 59 with temps heading to 80 again. Jeff and family are coming home from WDW today. Jeff sent a video of him and Sam on Peoplemover (Wedway) and a storm outside with torrential downpours. Sam calls the ride People Movah. Said like a true Bostonian. I hope to see them next weekend and hear about all the fun they had. I am making plans for our trip next month and as usual, keep second guessing myself. I know Aimee will help me organize it all. Together we will get it done.

Have a good Sunday.

Good morning mild start to the day going to the low 80's. I can deal with that especially with the lower humidity.

@bobbiwoz Have fun and let us know how the party is. I'm going to be in Disney in 1 month with a friend and heading to the Halloween party too.

My grandson Jay is 27 today. Where did the time go? I still remember the day he was born as though it was yesterday. I was in Manassas picking my girls up from my brothers house. We were going to explore some of the area that day when a phone call changed everything. Jay was on his way, 2 weeks early, and I needed to get home. I called my husband at work and he was able to get the day off to be at the hospital with my son til he got home. It's a 4 hour drive on the best of days and I hit thunderstorms all the way and then got stuck in a tunnel. I made it home and got a quick shower, making it to the hospital in time to give my son the camera to get pictures. An eventful day but I was gifted the most beautiful grandson who, while he drives me crazy at times, is the best grandson I could wish for. OK to be honest all my grandkids are but he started it all.

I didn't go to the shore Thursday as I was worried about the flooding risks. I wish I had because the pictures I have seen were amazing. We went to Lancaster instead and that was fun other than Ella getting car sick and needing a bag ASAP. We made sure to get Dramamine for the trip home. I did get the one thing I wanted from one of the farmers stands. I needed GIANT zucchinis and found them at a really good price too. I will be making zucchini breads today or tomorrow. I should have enough zucchini for about 10 breads. I am not taking orders this time, they will all have nuts and chocolate chips since thats the easiest

Hope you all have a good day

Good morning. Cloudy start to what will be another 84 degree day. Temps drop to the 70's tomorrow and stay that way for the rest of the week, with no rain in sight.

I bought some big pots of mums yesterday at the little grocery store over the PA line. Walmart had smaller ones for $8, I got giant ones at this place $8 each or 3/22. They are so pretty. I hate the thought of having to put fall flowers out yet, but the petunia's on the front steps died off a couple of weeks ago. The ones on the back deck are still thriving, although you can tell they're starting to get near the end of the season.

I texted Summer yesterday, telling her I didn't appreciate her not texting or calling me or showing up with the money for the last 3 days. Still no answer, so she's burned the last bridge she had for help. It's not so much the money, but it's her giving me her word and then going back on it. Lesson learned.

Have a good Sunday

Yum, I love zucchini bread. My MIL grew a lot of zucchini in her massive garden so we got to enjoy all things zucchini every summer. My absolute favorite was her zucchini parmesan. So good. DH and I used to make it a lot when we were first living together, but we haven’t in a while. Maybe we will again, we’ve got zucchini in our garden, too. It’s made just like an eggplant parm, but we cut the zucchini on the diagonal to make longer strips. My strawberries were delicious this year, we do them in a whiskey barrel. The kids had fun picking them. (At one time one of our German Shepherds used to eat all the strawberries out of the barrel. We could never figure out why we didn’t have any until DH spied her doing it, lol.) We have a ton of tomatoes so today I’ll be doing a caprese salad, which I’ve been craving lately.

@Snowysmom That made me laugh, movah with the Boston accent. That’s one of DH’s favorite rides, he talks about it all the time and says it the same way! (That was what he said he could stay on for 24 hrs at Disney which was a question recently going around the ‘net. Mine was HM.) We have tickets to the Halloween party too, it should be fun. My oldest friend will be joining us. We did a lot of them over the years on October trips for the kids’ bday. They used to be pretty sparse with people but now they’re always crowded. I’m planning a relatively quiet trip for me. We will celebrate our bdays while there so thinking of what we want to do for those. The family will be doing parks certain days but I’ll have to play it by ear. I find that if I do something one day, the next day I’m beat. I’m just looking forward to being there.

Lynn, so disappointing with Summer. She should’ve gotten back to you and paid the money back, and if she couldn’t, she should’ve said so. But that requires maturity. I feel like her level of dysfunction is so severe, she can’t manage basic things sometimes, it’s too overwhelming for her. I hope you can find a way to work it out. The two of you will always share that connection to Don, and I’m sure he’d be grateful for all you’ve done for her. Funny, I was thinking about fall mums too.

Mona, glad things are moving along for you and that you’re in good company. PollyannaMom, hope you are doing ok too after the loss of your kitty. (Edit: You too, Lynn.) Your closet came out great, looks a lot like mine! Funny about the soaps! (You too with the Ivory Snowysmom!) Bobbi, enjoy your trip! Hope everyone here is otherwise doing well!

I had my radiation consult this past week. We have to wait a little bit to start treatment because I’m not completely healed from the surgery and recent infection I had, but we’re going to start the planning sessions soon. Yesterday in the mail I got a nice package from an old friend. She sent me a beautiful shawl type thing that you can put over your upper body for warmth, which was so nice of her. People have been so good to me. The group of friends I grew up with have sent me a care package every few weeks, they take turns buying and sending. And lots of other friends, family and coworkers have done the same - blankets, food, flowers, personal care items, hats, gift cards, you name it. And lots of visits. It’s so overwhelming, the kindness and concern. And there are also a lot of people praying for me. I can’t ever pay it back but I can certainly pay it forward. (I’ve been doing that since last time, too.)

Today DH is going out w DS for a while and I am going to sort through and straighten out some of the clothes in my room. I am not very good with letting things go but I really have to, I have too many clothes I really don’t wear anymore and they’re piling up. It’s one job I hate doing! I have to try everything on in order to make a decision, lol.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone! 🐥

I saw these online (funny they came on my feed after discussing it here 🤔) and thought they might be a good solution for me to keep sheets sorted. I can probably find them on Amazon. This is how my closet was with sheets and blankets, only way more crowded than this! Lol
