Yum, I love zucchini bread. My MIL grew a lot of zucchini in her massive garden so we got to enjoy all things zucchini every summer. My absolute favorite was her zucchini parmesan. So good. DH and I used to make it a lot when we were first living together, but we haven’t in a while. Maybe we will again, we’ve got zucchini in our garden, too. It’s made just like an eggplant parm, but we cut the zucchini on the diagonal to make longer strips. My strawberries were delicious this year, we do them in a whiskey barrel. The kids had fun picking them. (At one time one of our German Shepherds used to eat all the strawberries out of the barrel. We could never figure out why we didn’t have any until DH spied her doing it, lol.) We have a ton of tomatoes so today I’ll be doing a caprese salad, which I’ve been craving lately.
@Snowysmom That made me laugh, movah with the Boston accent. That’s one of DH’s favorite rides, he talks about it all the time and says it the same way! (That was what he said he could stay on for 24 hrs at Disney which was a question recently going around the ‘net. Mine was HM.) We have tickets to the Halloween party too, it should be fun. My oldest friend will be joining us. We did a lot of them over the years on October trips for the kids’ bday. They used to be pretty sparse with people but now they’re always crowded. I’m planning a relatively quiet trip for me. We will celebrate our bdays while there so thinking of what we want to do for those. The family will be doing parks certain days but I’ll have to play it by ear. I find that if I do something one day, the next day I’m beat. I’m just looking forward to being there.
Lynn, so disappointing with Summer. She should’ve gotten back to you and paid the money back, and if she couldn’t, she should’ve said so. But that requires maturity. I feel like her level of dysfunction is so severe, she can’t manage basic things sometimes, it’s too overwhelming for her. I hope you can find a way to work it out. The two of you will always share that connection to Don, and I’m sure he’d be grateful for all you’ve done for her. Funny, I was thinking about fall mums too.
Mona, glad things are moving along for you and that you’re in good company. PollyannaMom, hope you are doing ok too after the loss of your kitty. (Edit: You too, Lynn.) Your closet came out great, looks a lot like mine! Funny about the soaps! (You too with the Ivory Snowysmom!) Bobbi, enjoy your trip! Hope everyone here is otherwise doing well!
I had my radiation consult this past week. We have to wait a little bit to start treatment because I’m not completely healed from the surgery and recent infection I had, but we’re going to start the planning sessions soon. Yesterday in the mail I got a nice package from an old friend. She sent me a beautiful shawl type thing that you can put over your upper body for warmth, which was so nice of her. People have been so good to me. The group of friends I grew up with have sent me a care package every few weeks, they take turns buying and sending. And lots of other friends, family and coworkers have done the same - blankets, food, flowers, personal care items, hats, gift cards, you name it. And lots of visits. It’s so overwhelming, the kindness and concern. And there are also a lot of people praying for me. I can’t ever pay it back but I can certainly pay it forward. (I’ve been doing that since last time, too.)
Today DH is going out w DS for a while and I am going to sort through and straighten out some of the clothes in my room. I am not very good with letting things go but I really have to, I have too many clothes I really don’t wear anymore and they’re piling up. It’s one job I hate doing! I have to try everything on in order to make a decision, lol.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
