Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I liked your last post dear Pea because of course Dad needs immediate relief. Huge thank you for always caring. No, the xrays didn't show anything alarming. Dad did say last night his side was feeling a little better. It's his side and back. I pray he got some good sleep and is doing better this morning. My situation, of course, has been taking a toll on him. The sooner that gets resolved truly the better for all!

Big prayers to you, my friend. God is holding you tight! We all love and believe in you, too.

Hi all - thought I'd stop in. I've been trying to keep up with this thread best I can.
Not a whole lot new or different going on. Still on baby watch, looking at some decent weather over the next several days. Smoked pork butt, macaroni & shrimp salad, potato salad and coleslaw on the menu for July 4th. Oh - and conch fritters! Rum punches and plenty of pool time. We had some company come in yesterday and they are headed out on Saturday morning. I think Sat or Sun we will go see the new Jurassic Park movie.

XRays don’t really show the level of detail that needs to be seen with something like this. Pain medication really doesn’t do a lot for this type of pain. An orthopedist will order an MRI and then they would likely move toward a cortisone shot into the area of disc herniation with nerve compression (‘pinched nerve’) which will be the thing that does offer relief. Of course it’s hard to say for sure in this type of situation (hearing second hand) but from what you’ve said (sciatica, doctor said “pinched nerve”) it’s a very common type of problem that people have as they age. It shouldn’t take so long to get help but sometimes it does. People have to sometimes be assertive themselves and advocate for escalating care if they’re not getting what they need. I would see if you can self-refer to orthopedics. Maybe not with Medicare. A simple solution would just be to ask the primary care doc who saw Dad to just put in a referral for orthopedics. It can take a little bit for that to happen and to get an appointment so I wouldn’t let much time go by. Please show this to your Dad.

Waving hi dear Easyas. Baby prayers extra right now indeed.

Dear Pea, thank you again. Dad right now is set on picking up his prescription. I have told him that's great but until he knows why he's taking the medicine...the whole 3 week pain cause is being ignored. It's his call, of course. I will update all-around later.

The movie was good, but very loud. Made me jump in a few spots. There might have been 30 people in the theater. A few kids, but except for towards the end when 3 of them started running around, it was peaceful enough to watch the movie. Our theater finally got the new reclining seats and wow, were they comfortable.
Saw quite a few references to the original movie, not sure if anyone else will notice some similarities.

Came home and just finished mowing the lawn. I

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you Dad is doing better. Pea is right about what the next step should be. I hope he can get more help to find out what is truly going on. I hope things work out well for you with your issue.

Lynn Glad you enjoyed the movie.

Good morning. It is 66 now with temps heading into the mid 80s. Rain is coming in later today. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice. Ellie is so excited about her trip to Disney. My friend and I talked yesterday and she suggested we go to Boothbay Harbor next May. We like to travel in May as it is off season and not as crowded. I had actually been looking at it too. We talked with a woman on the ship who mentioned enjoying a stay in Boothbay Harbor. I also will plan a 2026 Disney trip as a bounceback if I can get what I want or I will look for discounts when they come out. And I hope to have a family trip next year more local such as NH. Family Disney trip is looking like 2027 at AKL. I plan far ahead as planning is what I enjoy.

Off to another busy day at work. I will be glad when this week is over.

Good morning. Sunny and hot today, 89 for a high, no chance of rain (which usually means we get some, lol).

Summer is getting her brakes fixed as we speak. I'm paying for it as her birthday present (Sun). She was going to drive it with bad back brakes all the way to get her husband and home again. That's insane, putting herself at risk as well as other drivers if her brakes failed completely.
Dinnertime tonight will mark a week since I've seen Tiger, I've resigned myself to the fact that she's not coming back. If only I knew what happened to her, it would make me feel a little better.

I'm glad I mowed when I got home from the movie, the yard looks nice. The good neighbor did the weedwacking last night as part of our barter. He's good about it. It says it gives him the momentum to do his too, lol. He needed to mow his lawn, he hasn't done it in 2 weeks since they went to FL last week, and it was tall.

Have a good day everyone.

Praise extra to God! Love and what is right always does win. I am beyond grateful to have the outcome I was so praying for!

Dad is hoping to visit tomorrow. We will see. Thank you all always for all your love and prayers.

Good afternoon

The main part of the basement is finished. We had a BBQ last Saturday to celebrate. The couch was supposed to be delivered that day. Somebody screwed up because it finally came today. The BBQ was a success and we got chairs from church so there was plenty of seating. My mom's birthday was also that day and she didn't want to come or celebrate because Dad is in rehab and will be for at least another month. She was glad she did make it after all and was able to spend time with everyone. I didn't spend as much time with all my guests as I wanted too but we had a good time. I took the trash I had already to the waste disposal station before everyone arrived and am glad I did. My city is on strike and it is affecting trash pickups. Of course they started the strike on MY trash day. The city has set up dump sites and one is very close to me so I guess I will take the week's trash there.

We have had a neighbor's cat take up residence on my front step. I am not happy with the neighbors especially because I can't bring the poor thing into my house. My dog is afraid of the cat because she swatted her one day. I feel bad and several neighbors have left food and water out for the cat. i checked rescues and they are full right now so they can't guarantee she wouldn't be euthanized. Hopefully we can do something about her soon. It has been hot!!!

Here are a few pictures of the finished project to date

It's still a work in progress. We are taking a couple weekends off and then working on some things out front so I can get some cement work done. In the fall we are redoing the bedrooms. That will be relatively minor compared to what we have done. Replacing the carpeting with the same flooring as the basement, paint and some minor work in my son's old room. Then we will be DONE just in time for the Christmas holidays.

hope you all have a good 4th of July
