Waving good morning dear Quacker family. Yesterday was tough for both my dad and I. Praise God, the taxi did finally come to take my dad to the doctor and what the doctor could read of his xrays did not show anything alarming. He (doctor) prescribed a pain medication that dad will try to somehow get today. We pray it helps. Nothing else has :(
Good God, he needs a referral to orthopedics and likely an MRI. How disappointing.

I liked your last post dear Pea because of course Dad needs immediate relief. Huge thank you for always caring. No, the xrays didn't show anything alarming. Dad did say last night his side was feeling a little better. It's his side and back. I pray he got some good sleep and is doing better this morning. My situation, of course, has been taking a toll on him. The sooner that gets resolved truly the better for all!

Big prayers to you, my friend. God is holding you tight! We all love and believe in you, too.

Hi all - thought I'd stop in. I've been trying to keep up with this thread best I can.
Not a whole lot new or different going on. Still on baby watch, looking at some decent weather over the next several days. Smoked pork butt, macaroni & shrimp salad, potato salad and coleslaw on the menu for July 4th. Oh - and conch fritters! Rum punches and plenty of pool time. We had some company come in yesterday and they are headed out on Saturday morning. I think Sat or Sun we will go see the new Jurassic Park movie.

XRays don’t really show the level of detail that needs to be seen with something like this. Pain medication really doesn’t do a lot for this type of pain. An orthopedist will order an MRI and then they would likely move toward a cortisone shot into the area of disc herniation with nerve compression (‘pinched nerve’) which will be the thing that does offer relief. Of course it’s hard to say for sure in this type of situation (hearing second hand) but from what you’ve said (sciatica, doctor said “pinched nerve”) it’s a very common type of problem that people have as they age. It shouldn’t take so long to get help but sometimes it does. People have to sometimes be assertive themselves and advocate for escalating care if they’re not getting what they need. I would see if you can self-refer to orthopedics. Maybe not with Medicare. A simple solution would just be to ask the primary care doc who saw Dad to just put in a referral for orthopedics. It can take a little bit for that to happen and to get an appointment so I wouldn’t let much time go by. Please show this to your Dad.

Waving hi dear Easyas. Baby prayers extra right now indeed.

Dear Pea, thank you again. Dad right now is set on picking up his prescription. I have told him that's great but until he knows why he's taking the medicine...the whole 3 week pain cause is being ignored. It's his call, of course. I will update all-around later.

The movie was good, but very loud. Made me jump in a few spots. There might have been 30 people in the theater. A few kids, but except for towards the end when 3 of them started running around, it was peaceful enough to watch the movie. Our theater finally got the new reclining seats and wow, were they comfortable.
Saw quite a few references to the original movie, not sure if anyone else will notice some similarities.

Came home and just finished mowing the lawn. I
