Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning and welcome to the heat. 90 today, 95 tomorrow, 97 Mon and Tues, 95 on Wed, etc. No rain in sight all week, that would be a novelty, but by next weekend, we'll probably need some.

I'm going to mow shortly just to get the grass down to it's normal 3" and then wait till the heat breaks to do it again.

Have a good day

Hello! Just back from the cruise. I scanned the posts. Thoughts and prayers for all in need. Unpacking and doing laundry now. Then off the Kenny's to dog sit. I will post more later. We had a nice time, Holland America was very low key and quiet which we liked. Tired now!

Have a good Saturday.

Good evening. Hot one here today and expected to get hotter for a couple of days.

Went to Lancaster yesterday with my mom and our priest's wife. It was a fun trip and mom really relaxed. She had friends from church visit dad and managed a 1/2 hour visit with him when we came home. I saw a lot of branches in the area from the storms we had go through and was really tempted to pick some up. Only problem was they were huge and I wasn't sure I could handle them, I did get a few things to decorate the basement with the sports theme. One of my grandson;s friends who has been helping with the renovations had a tree come down on his house and it did some extensive damage. I think it's liveable since he didn't say otherwise but he will need siding, carpeting and flooring replaced. The good thing is his insurance will cover it and Jay can do a lot of the repairs. Good thing we are nearing the end of this phase of work.

The basement is 95% done. We can start putting things in the shelves. One problem arose when we positioned everything. The one shelf won't fit on the wall I chose it for. I did find a wire shelving unit in my son's old room so I am thinking I can use that to put all his DVD's in that. My son's room is almost cleaned out. I worked in there all day and am paying the price as my back is throbbing but it was worth it. I found one photo album I knew I was missing and was beyond thrilled. it covered our 1st Christmas in the house and my daughter's birth and 1st year of life. I even have pictures of my SIL's baby shower and my oldest niece with my daughter. They are only 3 months apart in age. I will be at it again after church tomorrow but the room will be ready for renovations in the fall. I will tackle the other room after the party next saturday.

On a down note my husband's surgery for this Friday wasn't approved by our family dr. His platelet counts are too low so now we need to see a hematologist. I looked on line for an appointment with the one my daughter recommended and the earliest appointment is in September. I'll see what the foot dr. says when we see him this week. It will take some pressure off me for the BBQ so I guess that's a positive.

My Fitzy is getting neutered on Tuesday. He may hate me for a bit as he has to go in a carrier. Jim wants to take in a neighbor's cat because they let the poor thing out in the heat and rain. She is always at my door. Jim did talk to the neighbors and we haven't seen her all day so maybe they kept her in, I hope. I do put some food and water out for her as does another neighbor. She is a sweet cat so I hope she is OK.

Hope you all are having a good weekend and staying cool

Extra love dear Taz. I am so very thankful to God you had some fun yesterday! Please take care of yourself. I will send you some mail soon :)

Waving good afternoon to all with love. Dad and I had a nice lunch visit. He looked exhausted though. I really pray he takes better care and definitely makes a doctor appointment on Monday.

M, my roommate, has seemed more wiped out and harder to rouse today. She did talk and eat some at breakfast. Her lunch was real quick. Our kind CNA sure tried and is a lovely lady. I am not 100% sure who our 3pm to 11pm CNA is.

I hope all of you are having a good day. PM me if you would enjoy some happy mail :)

Good morning
@theluckyrabbit Thank you for the 'quacker' smile to start my day. A happy bunch of ducks for sure

Day 2 of the heatwave. We got to 93 yesterday, heading for 95 today. I got the lawn cut to it's normal height before noon yesterday. I think the heat may slow down the growing and I might be able to wait till at least the end of the week to do it again. I had to water all the flowers and the tomato's well, the heat was making them droopy.

I did laundry, stripped the bed, and then worked on a jigsaw puzzle for awhile, staying inside where it was cool. Going to be the same today.

Summer had to pick Gracie up at work yesterday and take her to the hospital. She got sick all of a sudden at work and couldn't stop vomiting. They gave her an IV, blood work, etc. Did a cat scan but found nothing wrong, discharged her and sent her home with a note saying she could go to work today, and a referral for a gastroenterologist, again. She's seen one a couple of times, but he does nothing, Summer is hoping to get a different doctor this time. They leave for OC on Wed for 3 days, and it's not going to be fun if Gracie ends up in a hospital down there. Summer's refrigerator died last Monday, and she still doesn't have one. Some lady she knows said she has one in storage (for 2 months) that she will sell her, but then went out of town, and yesterday said she was at work and couldn't meet her to get it. I got all the usual 'hinting around' last night, asking for help without actually asking for it. I'm sorry, but I'm not buying her a new one and having her make monthly payments. Been there, done that, and it doesn't end well for me. I've done all I can. If she had any credit, she could go to Lowes and buy a brand new one, but she has none to lousy credit. I suggested she ask her mother, but we all know how that would go. I feel bad, but I've done all I can possibly do to help.

Going outside to water while it's still cool (75), and then finding something relaxing to do.

Have a good day, stay cool if you're in the heat.

I went out at 7am to do some trimming. It's my fence line and it needed help on both sides.

People next door get the guy near them to run their tractor around the yard now as they are both mid eighties and can't do any yard work. He doesn't weed whack or trim and mows about a foot away from the fence. I get why but the problem still remains.

So this morning I'm on their side chopping and filling a big trash can. I would have been better off if I'd started last winter.

I've decided I will pull out the fence and replace it on the lower side as the brush had started to lift it and one of their trees started pushing it further into my yard. They had tree work done not long ago but stuff grows fast around here. Just doing my own side is not helping me. In talking to him he said his son was asked but said he was afraid of the poison weeds, ivy, oak etc., so I told him I would have the 'guy' spray that area. I have to have my side done to keep it clear so a little extra is nbd. I'm also severely reactive so can't do it myself. The easy stuff up front which had me sweating bullets is enough for me.

Have to re pot one of my tomatoes as it's not draining. Later today for that. I've picked and ate quite a few so far. So fresh compared to the Aldi one I sliced up for dinner last night. I won't be buying any more grocery store ones for summer, but will want some beefsteak ones from the market stands. And, I had a pack of corn from Aldi - I should have left it there. Will head for the farmer's market before I buy corn again. Some of the local stands just buy in bulk at Costco and sell stuff. I can do that all by myself! One place that used to be all local and from their own farm is so disappointing now. It all looks great but it's not 'local' meaning fresher.

This spot even has a bakery, and it's all Amish product. It used to be family recipes and to die for sweets, but things change. The goods are ok but they are brought in weekly so that pie might be a week old before you buy it.

I'm finally cooled off so grabbing my water jug and heading back out, but just to sit in the shade and watch the birds. I've earned it already today.

Good morning dear friends with love. Happy Sunday! :)

Thank you dear Luckyrabbit for the smile. It is always a blessing to see you have posted.

Dear Lynn, hug, and prayets for Gracie, what an ordeal :( You please take extra care.

Dear Judique, you please don't overdo yard or other work either! Be kind to yourself.

What a bright new day update dear Bobbi. Praise, praise God. I am do thankful you are feeling better!

Someone is already blasting their tv. I hopd they are enjoying it. I am very blessed to have slept well and of course be able to hear. It is loud though. I look forward to watching online worship and God willing seeing my dad, too.

Sunday hug to all. I will check back in later.

Dinner last night was chicken, corn, potato salad and sliced tomato.

DD LOVED the potato salad. I didn't have my usual ingredients to make the salad dressing for the potato and egg so I used Hellman's. To me it was alright except for too many calories.

Don't know what we are having tonight as DD will prepare it.

Good morning. I did not have to stay at Kenny's last night. Owen was not feeling well so they came home early. I had dinner with them and came back to the condo. Today I have been to the 2 grocery stores I like best and got all the stuff I need for the week. My fridge needed to be restocked. It has been raining but now the sun is out and it will be hot and humid. We are in a heat advisory for the week.

The cruise was nice. We saw the Portland Head lighthouse and had a tour of Portland. In Halifax we went to Peggy's Cove and the Titanic burial ground. So interesting. We went the the reversing falls in St. John and we lucky to see the reversing. We went back later on the way back to the ship and they were back to normal with a rush of water. We saw St. Martin's and the Bay of Fundy with the caves. We relaxed, read, I tried to walk around the promenade deck for a mile most days, the meals were good, and I loved sitting on the balcony. The last 2 days it was so foggy at sea you could not see anything. The ship was blowing the fog horn every few seconds. The ship was definitely rocking. I was glad to be away from reality for a while and no news at all! Now I am going to work for a bit today to try to get a head of the mess I will get into tomorrow. I have a weeks worth of work at play catch up with.

Have a good day.

Most people will say yuck, but the only thing I use for my potato salad (or devilled eggs) is Miracle Whip along with French's yellow mustard. My mother made it that way and it stuck.. I'm asked to make potato salad for every family gathering, and there's never any left, so someone must like it, lol

This is what I actually prefer! The Miracle Whip version can be up to half the calories. I also use French's mustard. If I put onion or celery in it's by request, otherwise I'll add a little relish.

What ship did you sail on? Peggy's Cove is wild and rocky - and usually full of tourists especially more since the Swiss air disaster.

Did you get to enjoy any good meals off the ship or maybe even some Cow's ice cream?
