Good evening! I agree with Snowysmom and PollyanaMom, it’s a sheet of ice here from all the precipitation and cold temperatures. Have seen a lot of falls. Trying to be careful myself. Even the dogs had trouble walking on the ice today.
Have been busy with work and last week I came down with something, thankfully nothing major but it kept me up at night with a sore throat and coughing. Tested negative for everything so just dealt with it. Mostly gone now.
Mona, glad to hear from you here, we’ve all been worried. Praying. I can just imagine where you are, having worked in nursing homes all through HS and some college when facilities weren’t as up to speed as many are today, and we toured a lot of them when my aunt had to go to one about 15 yrs ago. Some are definitely better than others. My mother was in a rehab more recently (just before Covid hit) after she broke her hip and I hated it. It was almost as you describe. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy, and to this day I drive by there sometimes and a yucky feeling comes over me. The funny part was that it came highly recommended by a nurse friend who works in continuing care, Their medicare scores are the highest around. I guess that’s not saying much! Anyway, I hope you can get into another facility. My elderly friend was in a similar position for a long time, but finally went home a few months ago. (I might stop by tomorrow to see her and bring some things I’d bought a while back but never made it over.) It sounds like they are short staffed at night. Not surprised. It’s hard to get that kind of help these days, it’s hard work and few want to do it. One thing your Dad might do is to pick up some good candy (Hershey chocolate pieces; tootsie pops; MnM packets, etc.) to keep in your room and offer a piece to staff when they come in. We always did that with Mom. It gets people in and talking. I hope you’re making strides with your condition.
Mount Dora! I’m familiar with it too, what a great place! Idk if you guys remember the wedding we went to at Christmastime in 2023, it was there. (I later got Covid while at WDW after the wedding and was stuck in the room.) The whole town was lit up for the holidays so beautifully, we really loved it. So crowded though it took us about a half an hour to find a parking space, we had to walk probably a half a mile! But a very lovely place to visit, especially at XMas.
Glad everyone had good or upcoming trips! Loved your pictures, Lynn! We booked a bounce back for the fall and I’m looking forward to that. Our week last month went by so fast, it seemed like we no sooner got there that it was time to leave! I hate that! But we had a really nice time. I ordered a Disney raincoat on EBay after our rainy trip, just to have. (I had one with me but it was time for a new one; actually needed more my winter coat as it was cold, but I have the perfect jacket that works for both issues, though it will be too warm in early fall for the daily downfall.) Thankfully I had an umbrella and DH bought us some rain cover ups in the gift shop. The silver lining is that most of the rides were walk on, including mine train and haunted mansion, etc. It was our first time on Tron and we loved it, went on twice in a row!
Well the guy who did the floors in the apt started the tile several weeks ago. It’s probably 3/4 done, but the electric outlets are hanging out of the wall in the bathroom and DD got a zap! She texted him and he was in the hospital, but never told us that. He just needs to finish! Needless to say, he was supposed to do the sinks, too, so those aren’t done. Had some crappy experiences with a couple of plumbers (pun intended) trying to get an estimate for the work, so those still need to be done one way or another. Frustrating. But DH and her bf installed her big TV so that has made DD happy. It’s pretty comfy in there now.
I hope everyone has a nice Tuesday!

Will be praying for Mona and Bobbi.
