Good windy morning. It's 29 and snowing like crazy out there, and the sun is out. The wind gusts have been awful, I'm very surprised we didn't lose power at all. They're supposed to end around noontime. Even the outdoor cats are in hiding and I had to find them to give them warm breakfast.

At least they say the storm they thought was going to get here on Wed/Thurs, is only going to give us an inch. I'm so tired of winter, I can't wait for next week when temps go back to the 50's.

I cleaned the kitchen yesterday and washed the floor. Watched some tv, and puttered around. Finished the chicken pot pie skillet I had made the other day.

Have a good day everyone

Hearing your forecast that it's snowing kind of scares me as whatever you get I eventually get, not always but most of the time.

Have to go to a girl's lunch in about 10 minutes. I'm sort of hungry but my nerves are shot as I try to decide when to leave for my trip. If I wait until the weekend I'll lose some nights I booked. (Not Disney ones).

On the other hand, arriving earlier means booking something else, maybe 2 extra nights. I'll be ready to leave tomorrow morning; once I get home from lunch I'll talk to DD and make a decision. I think I might as well head out tomorrow and drive to South Carolina.

I think I need another large vehicle for winter. Or I need to rent for these winter trips.

Good evening! I agree with Snowysmom and PollyanaMom, it’s a sheet of ice here from all the precipitation and cold temperatures. Have seen a lot of falls. Trying to be careful myself. Even the dogs had trouble walking on the ice today.

Have been busy with work and last week I came down with something, thankfully nothing major but it kept me up at night with a sore throat and coughing. Tested negative for everything so just dealt with it. Mostly gone now.

Mona, glad to hear from you here, we’ve all been worried. Praying. I can just imagine where you are, having worked in nursing homes all through HS and some college when facilities weren’t as up to speed as many are today, and we toured a lot of them when my aunt had to go to one about 15 yrs ago. Some are definitely better than others. My mother was in a rehab more recently (just before Covid hit) after she broke her hip and I hated it. It was almost as you describe. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy, and to this day I drive by there sometimes and a yucky feeling comes over me. The funny part was that it came highly recommended by a nurse friend who works in continuing care, Their medicare scores are the highest around. I guess that’s not saying much! Anyway, I hope you can get into another facility. My elderly friend was in a similar position for a long time, but finally went home a few months ago. (I might stop by tomorrow to see her and bring some things I’d bought a while back but never made it over.) It sounds like they are short staffed at night. Not surprised. It’s hard to get that kind of help these days, it’s hard work and few want to do it. One thing your Dad might do is to pick up some good candy (Hershey chocolate pieces; tootsie pops; MnM packets, etc.) to keep in your room and offer a piece to staff when they come in. We always did that with Mom. It gets people in and talking. I hope you’re making strides with your condition.

Mount Dora! I’m familiar with it too, what a great place! Idk if you guys remember the wedding we went to at Christmastime in 2023, it was there. (I later got Covid while at WDW after the wedding and was stuck in the room.) The whole town was lit up for the holidays so beautifully, we really loved it. So crowded though it took us about a half an hour to find a parking space, we had to walk probably a half a mile! But a very lovely place to visit, especially at XMas.

Glad everyone had good or upcoming trips! Loved your pictures, Lynn! We booked a bounce back for the fall and I’m looking forward to that. Our week last month went by so fast, it seemed like we no sooner got there that it was time to leave! I hate that! But we had a really nice time. I ordered a Disney raincoat on EBay after our rainy trip, just to have. (I had one with me but it was time for a new one; actually needed more my winter coat as it was cold, but I have the perfect jacket that works for both issues, though it will be too warm in early fall for the daily downfall.) Thankfully I had an umbrella and DH bought us some rain cover ups in the gift shop. The silver lining is that most of the rides were walk on, including mine train and haunted mansion, etc. It was our first time on Tron and we loved it, went on twice in a row!

Well the guy who did the floors in the apt started the tile several weeks ago. It’s probably 3/4 done, but the electric outlets are hanging out of the wall in the bathroom and DD got a zap! She texted him and he was in the hospital, but never told us that. He just needs to finish! Needless to say, he was supposed to do the sinks, too, so those aren’t done. Had some crappy experiences with a couple of plumbers (pun intended) trying to get an estimate for the work, so those still need to be done one way or another. Frustrating. But DH and her bf installed her big TV so that has made DD happy. It’s pretty comfy in there now.

I hope everyone has a nice Tuesday! 🐥 Will be praying for Mona and Bobbi. 🙏 :grouphug:

Pea Nice to hear from you. I hope your DD's apt can get finished soon. I agree about nursing homes. When I had my knees replaced I went to a rehab section of a nursing home that I toured and had really good reviews. It was not a great place. The 7-3 shift were good but the evening and night staff were horrible. One nurse actually threw my pain meds and water at me and I was trying to keep up with the meds after having 2 knees replaced. I spent 5 nights there, 4 of them with Chris staying. I still have nightmares about that place. Glad you have a Disney trip to look forward to. Hope the doggies are doing well in the cold weather.

Mona Thinking of you and hoping you are getting stronger each day.

Good morning. It is cold at 10 degrees and temps only going into the mid 20s with strong winds. Kenny said his driveway was a sheet of ice yesterday morning. My walkway was thick ice and they had not put any salt down. My neighbor insisted on scraping up the ice on my driveway. I told her to stay warm inside and let the sun melt it a bit and I would do it later. I looked outside and there she was in my driveway with her shovel. She did find a good price on pet safe ice melt at Petsmart and asked if I wanted some too. So kind and I said yes for sure. There is some price gouging going on with the ice melt as it is hard to find right now. I was able to scrape the ice off my walkway once the sun got there. Walking around outside right now is not a good idea between ice and the cold. I may brave a quick walk today and then a youtube yoga session. I went to the gym yesterday. I like to have one day in between visits.

Have a good day. Stay warm.

Good morning from a cold 15 degree sunny MD. The winds have died down for the most part, but the cold (high of 26 today) will hang around most of the week before going into the 50's.

Nice to see you @Pea-n-Me . I hope you can find someone more reliable to finish the work in the apartment. That's terrible that your DD got zapped. I know it's not his fault he's in the hospital, but didn't he have anyone that could call you and tell you why he was MIA.

@Snowysmom I'm guessing a lot of places are price gouging on ice melt, if you can find it. When I spotted some in the store back in the beginning of December, I grabbed 4 bags of the pet safe stuff. I'm glad I did, because my sister in law tried every store in town yesterday and no one had any of it at all. Only a few places had any regular ice melt.

I called it when I told her that her car couldn't take all the wear and tear she was putting on it. She said the truck is out of commission until she can afford to get it looked at. The roads around town are filled with potholes and she does nothing to avoid them, so now the whole front end is out of whack. If she was expecting me to offer to pay to have it fixed, she's going to be disappointed. I've done all I can do, and I'm tired of being used as a bank when she needs help. She can call her mother and ask her.

Going to warm up the car and take all the trash down to the street. No one put it out for the last 2 weeks, and it's too much for me to carry down. My back is still aching from shoveling.

Have a good day everyone.

Speaking of potholes. We have a lot here. DH actually blew out his tire (like, literally) yesterday a couple of blocks from home, probably from a pothole. I would’ve called AAA but he changed it himself just to get on with it. It was bitter cold with whipping winds. His hands were like ice when he got home, now his car is in the shop for a tire, and he had to use DD’s car to go to work as I have to go out later. Ugh. Too bad we couldn’t get some of these potholes fixed! 😬 It used to be that you could bill the state for tire damage from potholes. It’s tempting.

It is so cold…. -15 this morning. I’m not sure what the wind chill is but suffice it to say, it’s frigid. My driveway has been difficult, the snow keeps drifting, it took me 10 attempts to get up it on Sunday. Today was better.
I had a nail appointment this morning, I was going to do my grocery shopping but decided it was too cold. I need to start emptying the freezer anyway.

Mona, continued prayers for your recovery. It is such a shame that these facilities are not better staffed and more “homey”. I have worked in both nursing homes and daycares, and they both are lacking. I’m always leery of both.

Good news, my daughter is expecting again. We are all hopeful that this pregnancy will have a happy outcome. It is so nerve racking to watch your daughter worry so much. If you remember, she had an early miscarriage and then her second died at 28 weeks😢 Our family needs this little one to be healthy and happy!

Dazedx3  Prayers for a healthy pregnancy for your DD.

Lynn Summer and family sure have had some tough times. I do hope things get better for them.

Good morning. It is 10 degrees and temps going into the 20s again. At least the wind isn't as bad. I am tired of being cold. Next week it is supposed to get into the 40s. It will feel so good. I don't have to drive into the office tomorrow as my boss asked me to switch weeks. She can't make it next week. It has been 4 weeks since I have gone into the office so no long early morning drive. I will not say no to staying home one more week. I am fortunate that my company supports working from home. I know I do more work from home, start a little earlier than my start time, and sometimes work on weekends for a few hours. Not having to commute saves time and less cars on the road. We do get together as a group for meetings a few times a year and the big boss does like most of us to come in once a month. Tonight I am having dinner with Kenny and kids. I haven't seen the kids in a few weeks.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Good morning. Still very cold, . 13 degrees now going to 27. Winds come back tomorrow, I find them almost worse than the cold lately. It's not just little breezes, it's full on strong gusts.

Summer got the quote from the mechanic, to the tune of $1100. Most of the parts for her steering are shot. They gave her a quote of $680 for parts, but she found a complete set on an auto parts site for $125. I told her I would pay for the parts, but she's going to have to find a way to pay the $400 labor charge. She can't keep relying on me to do it. I feel bad, but....She was still out at 10 last night delivering for Walmart and told her hands were numb from the cold. She's going to get sick and end up in the hospital again if she's not more careful, but you can't talk sense in to her.

Heading for the grocery store shortly. A couple of other errands and then home where it's warm and toasty.

Have a good day, stay warm if you're in the deep freeze or snow

Quick sweet dreams with love dear Quacker family. I got another wonderful card and as always am so touched reading all of your kind prayers and encouragement. Each of you sincerely mean a lot to me. More than ever God willing I do believe in His time we will have our Disneyland meet. A Quacker family in person not reunion but get together :)

Heartbreaking to learn some that your mom dear Pea and you dear Snowysmom were treated so horribly. I am so sorry :'( I still at times have hour+ waits or have a nurse (who says they will get my nurse) turn off my help light before I have been helped or not do any cleaning until I comment when helping me with toileting stuff. Illegal and neglectful.

I am still as shared above in the same place. Dad and I keep looking. Pea, I gave a tired and kind CNA a pudding cup last week! Dad keeps me supplied with vanilla pudding by snack packs. How handy they are. Pudding sure can be healthier not to mention more appetizing than eggs that taste like oil. The kitchen has tried here to be accomodating.

I am by God's grace alone making some PT progress. I do my best daily. I know He had this and me just fine. Dad too.

I will try to update again later in the week. Love to all. Dazed many healthy pregnancy prayers. Love to all.

@flyingdumbo127 Nice to hear from you. The pudding cups is a nice idea. Glad the kitchen is trying to be accommodating as food is frequently an issue in nursing and rehab facilities. Continued prayers that PT makes you stronger and better able to walk.

Good morning. Another cold morning at 11 degrees with temps heading to 30. It is still a bit breezy out but no where near as windy as it was. I plan to venture outside to walk today. Yesterday I went to the gym to use the treadmill. I paid off my June cruise so now it seems more real. Jeff is taking my friend and I to the cruise port and picking us up. He doesn't mind driving in Boston. I really like that we do not have to fly anywhere. Dinner with Kenny, GF, and kids was nice. Today just work and errands. Saturday is Charlotte's birthday party. She is having it at the Y with gymnastics and jumping into foam pits fun. Kenny is driving so I get to go with them. She will be 6 at the end of the month.

Have a good day.

My yard is still pretty much a bumpy skating rink, but at least the sun is shining.

I did an origami class on line yesterday and then ran some errands. The class has been fun so far. We've made different kinds of boxes:

Today I plan to swap the Valentines decorations out for the St. Patrick's Day ones and straighten up the fridge/freezer, then make salmon for dinner.

Good morning. Cold 15 now going to a high of 23. It just snowed enough to coat the ground, and now the sun is trying to come out. My friend in CO is expecting 3-7" of snow tonight, and 65 by Saturday. There's something wrong with that weather equation, lol

Summer wanted to go with me grocery shopping yesterday. While we were there, she got 3 offers for delivery's all in the area we were going through on the way home, so I told her to accept those and we loaded everything into my car and made the 3 stops on the way home. She made some money, and it wasn't out of my way, so I had no problems with it. Her husband can go back to work, but he has to wait until the team makes a return home trip before he can go back on the road with them, might be another couple of weeks

@PollyannaMom I took down my Valentine's Day decorations and put up my St Patrick's ones yesterday too.

@flyingdumbo127 Continued prayers for PT to help you and for you to be able to find another place to be moved to.

Having an issue with Walmart delivery all of a sudden. They just delivered stuff here last week from the store, and this week tell me they don't deliver to my address. I spoke to 5 different reps at customer service yesterday over the space of 2 hours. The last guy, a man in Egypt believe it or not, spent 50 minutes with me trying to figure it out. Somehow, on Google Maps (which is what Walmart uses for their tracking), my next door neighbors address got dropped on top of my address so it shows 2 houses on my pin. He told me step by step how to edit it and I got an email from Google that my edit had been approved, so hopefully by tonight when I look at the map, only my house will show there. Then I will be able to get stuff delivered from the store. It's always something.

Have a good day

Happy Thursday!

Dumbo - hope you can get in at the other facility and keep up the good work with your PT.

It's been cold here and we've been getting the snow, not too bad though. We got some on Sunday and luckily Jacob stopped over after he was done plowing and did my driveway. Very thankful for that b/c I've been fighting a cold all week and it really hit over the weekend.

Evan, Bailey, and Mia got home from Disney last Thursday. They were sending me pictures and videos while they were there. They stayed at Art of Animation, went to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, had a character breakfast a Chef Mickey's, and went to Disney Springs. She was having the time of her little life! I wished I could have been there but I know I'll take her in a couple of years. The day after they got home, Evan was already texting me to look into booking them for next year. I told him that he's hooked, and he said that it was a whole different kind of fun with Mia.

Picked her up from daycare yesterday and we stopped at the library for a short trip. She was on a mission to find Mickey Mouse books and spooky books.

Training for work is going well. I think I've got it down for the most part, now I just have to get passed being slow. It will take me a little while to know where to go for things in the computer programs, but it will come with doing it.

Buster is still sticking around. I've come to the conclusion that he will most likely just stay here. I'm sure he thinks we're his family, so I don't have the heart to give him away. Jacob was here this morning and was saying that there are 2 Husky puppies that he wants to rescue. I told him there is no way in the world I could take them. He said they look to be about 4 months old.

Last weekend we had a "funeral" for our hospital unit that was closed. It was fun seeing all my old co-workers again and catching up as to where they all found jobs at. Glad everyone was able to find something. Most liked their new jobs but there are a couple who are still struggling. I told them to keep looking until they find the right place.

That's all I have for now. Hope everyone stays warm and has a great day!

It’s so great to hear from you, Mona!

@PollyannaMom, I love seeing the origami boxes. Once I went to a class on DCL, and I made one! It’s something I keep on my desk.

My operation is getting closer. I modified my meds and began drinking Ensure.

The best part of having this operation is hearing from all my friends who are sending prayers up and encouraging words to me. I appreciate everything encouraging you say to me here.

Thank you,
Bobbi

Extra hugs dear, dear Bobbi. God has this and He sure also and always has you my friend. I was given Ensure as a supplement in the hospital. It was all right at first. I have shared previously that I am not a plain milk drinker at all. I believe neither is our friend Carol. I have come to like a small amount of Kroger brand chocolate milk from Ralphs. I prefer it to Ensure. I pray the Ensure does what you need it to!

Bobbiwoz Sending good thoughts and prayers to you.

Footballmouse Glad your new job is going well. Congrats on adding Buster to your family. I enjoyed reading about Mia and the family trip to Disney.

PollyannaMom The origami boxes are lovely.

Good morning. It is 18 right now with temps again heading to 30. I did get outside to walk yesterday. It was a bit chilly but it was nice to get out in the fresh air. I did a few errands after work.

Have a good day.

@Snowysmom, you brave the cold! Good for you.

My podiatrist took me sooner than usual to take care of my corns and callouses before I go into hospital. My feet are a mess, they feel so much better today!

Cold and sunny here, but very windy, so I don’t anticipate walking outside today. I have exercises to do for days I don’t walk.

Woodpeckers visited the suet cakes yesterday. Most of the birds that come are starlings and grackles, but after they go, many smaller birds come. I do enjoy bird watching.

Enjoy the day!
