Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Tomorrow we will be going to see “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” because of recommendations of friends. We are celebrating Tom’s 80th birthday early, today and tomorrow, because on Sunday we’ll be visiting a friend who has been in and out of hospitals over an 18 month period, who isn’t out of the woods yet, but is well enough to go out to a meal on Sunday.

I have learned that I wasn’t the healthiest person in the hospital during my 8 night stay, and I will be undergoing more tests and treatments. I’ll be at MD Anderson, Cooper for treatments. I will learn more on Monday. 🙏please.
Prayers for you, and Happy Birthday for Tom

Bobbiwoz Prayers for you. Happy Birthday to Tom.

Lynn Glad you found the dressers that you like.

Good morning. A bit warmer this morning at 41. I am glad it is warmer as Ellie and DDIL are running this morning and I want it to be comfortable for them. I had a nice lunch with my friend. It had been a while. We chatted for over 2 hours but didn't finish our chat.

Have a nice Saturday.

May you and your friend be able to soon continue your talk dear Snowysmom. Cheering for Ellie! Extra hug my friend.

Bobbi an extra hug to you and Happy Birthday to Tom. Wishing you both a special day.

It's been cooler here lately. My morning cocoa just tastes cozier and Chicken broth better. I've been trying to stretch and move more. God willing, I will keep at it. I know working out all the set in stiffness in my feet is a process. I am so ready for healthy and fleet feet. How blessed I am to have feet abd all my toes, mobility period. I truly am.

Wishing all of dear you a lovely Saturday with love. I will check back in later.

Good morning all!

Lynn - Congratulations on your new furniture! I keep moving stuff from room to room and should really just get rid of some pieces.

One is the old Lane cedar chest which serves a purpose but doesn't really fit anywhere without creating clutter. I keep a winter weight down comforter in there plus a few other minor things. It doesn't get cold enough except for December through March and it's big and was pretty expensive from Restoration Hardware so I'm reluctant to let it go. My thermostat rarely drops below 68 degrees.

It does have a padded lid which is a seat. I'm fighting myself to 'let it go'.

Tall cream colored with flowers Ethan Allen armoire (Country French) from the 90ties in perfect condition. This has now been in 4 different rooms. It matches several other pieces but do I need it? Am I only using it to store other stuff that I could let go?

Definitely getting the boot is an Ikea cabinet - 95 inches by 40 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Full of Disney stuff and papers that I carefully filed in folder holders. There may be one or two pages that should be kept but I have ignored because it is all neat and tidy. What a waste of real estate space! It's tucked in the spare room and the armoire will fit in there in the spot taking up 4 more inches wider and a couple of inches deeper. I've also removed the Lane chest from this room so it is improving.

I hope all this is not too boring but it's helping me cement decisions as I write it out.

Older DD asked me if I had a cabinet for shoe storage. I told her to come by and look around to see if she wants something. That might spur another eviction.

Good sunny, windy Saturday. I hope it clears up soon. Dave is going to come this afternoon to winterize the riding mower for me.
Furniture comes this afternoon too.

I'm a little upset with Summer. She was supposed to take the 2 dressers and mirror. I needed to get it out of the bedroom so I could vacuum and clean the carpets where they have been sitting forever. I texted her and she said she would 'try' to come out later in the afternoon and see if she could get one in the truck then, and one today.
I couldn't wait till late afternoon to shampoo the carpet, so I took the drawers out, and then dragged the dressers out of the bedroom, through the living room and into the dining room. It would be an obstacle course, but only for a day.
At 2 she texts me and says she's not going to take them because she has no place to store them until she can clean where she wants them to go. This from someone who tells me that none of them have dressers in their room.
I had to call the store, and beg the lady to add removal to the slip. She had to check and make sure there would be room on the truck by the time they got to me, but since I'm one of the last calls, she said that was fine. I paid her and she said they'd bring the receipt with them

I put the drawers back in and moved them as far to one side as I could. So now I'm walking around furniture that's in the way, and the cats think they have new places to sleep. One upside, the carpet looks good as new after being cleaned, I did the whole room while I was at it. My back is killing me and I barely slept last night. It was 5 am when I fell asleep, woke at 6, made myself go back to sleep and woke up at 8.

So that's my Friday saga, everything today had better go smoothly

Have a nice day everyone

That's aggravating to think you found a home for some usable used furniture and then no go! I put a couple of chairs and 2 small tables in the shed, but when I have some time (or energy) I'll drop them at Goodwill as they are still clean and actually more modern looking then my good stuff. Also have 2 very inexpensive kitchen stools that I want to keep but I'll reevaluate that when I finish up in that area. Open and empty space is better than clutter, even when something looks decent. Trying to rid myself of dust catchers. With the cats it's a chore to keep the wisps of fur down. The heavy duty swiffer does a great job but it's every day all day chasing these dust bunnies.

I'm also eye'ing a new lamp online. Love it but want to wait and see if I still love it in a couple of weeks.

Good morning! 🍂

Sounds like everyone’s been busy!

Bobbi, I said prayers for you this morning, hope you are doing ok. :flower3:

Just finished up a work stretch, some interesting patients and situations, as always! 😀

Painter was here for six days for apt :faint: I had no idea it would take that long! (Even he only predicted three days!) But he fixed all the holes in the walls where things were hanging or nicked, and did a really nice job with all the detail on ceilings, walls and trim. It looks great and DD is happy with the color. We found out they’re having their first baby so DD and I ran into WalMart on his last day and got them some cute baby stuff. We had fun and he texted to say he and his wife loved everything. DD had intuition about hiring this particular guy of the three who gave us prices, and she was right, he was really nice. As I said before, we always paint ourselves so it was interesting to see what it’s like to have a real painter! We split the cost so it wasn’t too, too painful. We’re ready to start the floors anytime, DS has a friend who will be doing the installation. And DH is starting on the cabinets today once he and DD finish installing all the new light switches. They took the dogs out for their weekend ride to the beach already this morning.

Holiday mood hasn’t hit me quite yet, I just want to get this project finished. Off for Thanksgiving and will be with family, but will also be doing our own meal, too, the weekend after. Working all of Christmas (eve and day) so that doesn’t really excite me for the holiday, either. We’ll probably end up doing our own thing later but not sure. After that will be looking forward to our winter Disney trip, really can’t wait to get away for a bit.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday! 🐥

Good morning friends🐣💛

Pea, always a blessing to see you post. I would love to join you on the beach. Have fun. Thank you and all of your family for the kindnesd you spread.

I rewatched The Gift of Peace. Not a typical Hallmark movie at all. Story of healing, love, and God's ever present Peace all around us.

Sunday joy to all.

Pea Good to see you. Glad your project is going along well.

Ellie's run went well yesterday. We were at the finish line and saw them come in. There were so many people at the beginning of the race we could not see them. She was happy to run with Mom and her friends. I had fun just being with the kids. Sam was a handful but snacks kept him occupied for a bit. Then I just went back to the condo and did some housework and walked. Today I am going to Kenny's for brunch. I have already gone to Wegman's, starting some Thanksgiving meal shopping, and did some more housework. The holidays are tough for me this year, a bit more than the other years. The grief counselor and I agree that it is because I am not distracted with alot of things I need to do this year. The other years I was busy with estate stuff, condo and move stuff, or settling into a new place. So this year I just want to get through it and be done. My Disney trip is coming up soon. I am looking forward to it sometimes and wondering why I am doing it other times. I need to remember why I am going and let that be my guide.

Have a good Sunday.

Good morning. Sunny and going to be mid 60's. Dave came yesterday afternoon and we got the riding mower deck off, got it all cleaned and lubricated, and put some silicone spray on the bottom to keep grass from sticking. He greased the bearings on the wheels and disconnected the battery for me so I can put it in the cellar on a trickle charger for the winter. He was here for about an hour and we laughed as he told his ridiculous stories. I needed that. I tried to pay him, but he wouldn't take anything, he's just so nice to me.

He had just pulled away, and they called to say they were on their way with the furniture. Everything went smoothly and I absolutely love the new dressers. Without even realizing it, they're the exact same color as the headboard and my nightstands. I spent about an hour putting all my clothes away, getting rid of a few things, I had way too many shirts and socks. I ordered some new lamps for the mirrored dresser, everything else was new, I didn't want to keep using the old yard sale lamp that Don had forever. The littlest cat is so confused, she's used to just going under the old dressers to hide.
Normally when a stranger comes in the house, all the cats except for one, runs and hides, and I don't see them for hours. 3 of them stayed in the kitchen watching, 2 went as far as going behind my new chair, and the little one, the one who's afraid of everything, sat on the bed on my bathrobe not a foot away from them watching, lol.
I was so tired that all I did for supper was some reheated rotisserie chicken and I cooked a pkg of ramen noodles but didn't put any of the seasoning in them.
Watched some tv, talked with my friend in CO for almost 3 hours, and then was in bed by 12:30. I must have fallen asleep right away, and the next thing I knew it was 8:30 this morning. That tells me just how tired I was.

I'm not planning on doing much of anything today. The house is clean, as clean as it's going to get, laundry is done, and I'm just worn out.

Have a good day everyone

My cats usually hide also. So much so that halfway through whatever is going on I'll be calling DD to do a search as I worry they might go outside and under the deck where we can't easily reach them.

I'm still looking at lamps on online sites. I was going to go to a lamp store on Monday but it's recently gone online only.

Dave sounds like a real peach to be able to call when you need help. I get freebies from my son in law and pay the help he brings, plus I pay my painter/handyman. Since May he's worked here 19 days. (I keep track or I might forget.) Writing it down as it happens works best so nobody is upset. He sees my tally and is satisfied that I know what he does.

He's painted, done baseboard, done floor refinishing, pressure washed, and whatever I needed. All appreciated!

It's really good that you are able to interact with your sons and their kids! I do remember the years after my youngest child's father passed suddenly. It was like I had no closure and I was much younger, still in my late 30ties. Time has mostly taken care of it as well as being too busy to think.

I'm considering a Xmas getogether this year but not a dinner. I'll give it more thought after TG and my Disney visit. It will depend on the two oldest's plans but I think after Xmas will work best as my 3 girls (sons wife, 2 DD's) will be off.

My project has no end in sight, but I'm really seeing progress. We've been working mostly on my main floor after finishing upstairs new flooring and painting.

The windows are 99% complete. I changed two and Home Depot doesn't do new trim so someone will do that soon. I still have some painting to do. I also want an updated front door and doorway area but not before Xmas.

It feels good to get things done and sit and enjoy even though there are still projects. The big one is my basement. It needs complete clearing out and a minor remodel. Although half finished it's mostly storage and has turned to clutter and can't find anything I put down there. While doing the windows I had a bit of an epiphany that I don't have to drag everything out by using the stairs. A window can be removed and many things can get passed out that way into my back yard. Lucky for me it's nice and dry except for some minor drips that I had on one corner which resolved with some caulking.

My handyman went down there and said 'you can rent this'. I smiled and thought, no, no more people in my house other than DD! Don't need the money but nice to know if I were stuck, it's a possibility.

DD was making brownies. I think I want one....

It sounds like you are making a lot of great upgrades. You are brave to be able to get rid of so much! It is a good feeling to get all that done. I know what you mean about roommates, too, haha.

We’ve had three dumpsters since summer and still need more. We’ve done the cellar which had collected a lot of stuff, from both my mother’s house and ours, with various deceased relatives’ stuff thrown in. 😅 And we did one attic over the apt but still have ours to do.

We did over our lower level family room, bathroom and storage area last year and I really love that space. Once the apt’s done we will be re-doing the floors in our living room and kitchen, I can’t wait to do those. We’ll match the ones our DD picked out since you go from our living room into her apt. I’m going to buy the flooring but get someone to install, and it won’t be my son’s friend, this job will need pros since we have various levels of flooring underneath and it will have to go up against our cabinets. The apt’s is simple, only had carpet in there and we took it up, so no old floors underneath and it will be even w the kitchen and bathroom.

Next year we have some work to do outside. The walkways are in tough shape and we’re thinking about taking the trees down and reimagining the front. The roots are coming up in the driveway and the leaves get all over our cars and affect the paint. One tree is old and broken and looks like it’s going to fall over, lol. We’ll replant some new ones that are smaller.

We also have some windows to do. Many have been done already, but the ones in the upstairs bedrooms need to be replaced, and probably the big one in the living room. DH can do the work. He’ll have time when he retires.

It feels like it’s never ending, though. :faint: But in actuality we’ve gotten a lot done.

First cabinets went in today and they look good! Just one set on one small wall took all afternoon, after kitchen wall switches were done. Next is the side the stove goes on, then the sink side last. DH is dreading that one as he hates plumbing. But hopefully it will all go smoothly. 🤞Will probably take a couple of weeks I’m guessing. We’ll still need to do the backsplashes, countertops, and lighting too. And need to buy a stove - apt size are hard to find. We already have the fridge and small dishwasher to reinstall. We redid our own kitchen and living room about 12 yrs ago so at least that’s still good. We built a sunroom off the kitchen at that time and I love that space, too.

I still have to clean out my bedroom! :duck: I may try to do a little purging this week.

Good evening:grouphug:dear friends,

I pray each of you had a good day and will enjoy sweet dreams later tonight. I watched a lovely sermon earlier that was focused on God's call to us to be His hands and feet here on earth. It reminded me of a favorite song by Jewel called Hands. Thank each of you with all my heart always for all the faith, love, and, smiles you each spread daily. God Bless you all dear Quacker family.

Pea and Judique So busy with renovations. Glad your homes are becoming the places you want. The renovations sound amazing.

Bobbiwoz Thinking of you.

Lynn How nice that the dressers fit right in with your bedroom furniture. The cats are funny!

Good Morning. It is 41 now with temps heading into the 50s today. I hope to get to the lake to walk. Yesterday I was Kenny's for brunch then we took the dog for a walk. I went to Lowe's and walked around there alot, Wegman's was a walk workout too, and some other errands. I ended up doing over 10,000 steps yesterday. I was happy about that. I have gotten into watching my step count just to help me stay active. 10,000 steps is not the usual every day. LOL!

Have a good day.
