Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

My appointment today was a waste of time and a co pay. She took Don in first and spent 25 min with him. She came in to see me and was out in less than 10. She went thru the med list, listened to my heart and lungs and said 'see you in Dec for your yearly.' She had Lipitor on my med list and I've never taken Lipitor, so how did it get on my chart? I may or may not see her in Dec. I am going to change PCP's to one at UPMC where my cardiologist is. This one isn't associated with the hospital and can never get lab results even though we tell them every time to send them to her. I don't care for her attitude and today totally pushed me over the line.
It dumped down rain until we were on the way home. We stopped at the bank, stopped at Save a Lot so I could grab more milk and got Chinese take out to bring home. We got home and the rain stopped and the sun came out. It's back to sprinkling again. I just picked 2 huge Pink Lady tomato's, and 6 big Carolina Gold ones. Brought 3 of the yellow ones next store. They were grilling burgers and were very happy to have them to go along with them. The little boys both came running over to give Miss Lynn hugs. The older one just got home from being in NY with his biological Dad, and I hadn't seen hjm all summer. School starts here on Aug 18, so he had to come home.

Called Dave and asked him to bring his brother over tomorrow or Sat. He said he just called me and asked me to bring him tomorrow. I said well he called me Monday and told me he was coming over on Tuesday and that was the last I heard.

@Snowysmom At least you still have an 'out', should you choose to use it!

Nothing else new, have a nice evening

Good later afternoon and early evening dear friends,

Sorry for not posting much in between. Dad and I did get a surprise visit from Terri this afternoon when she was out our way. Praises extra to God, of course, for being able to safely see her. Also, that He used her to be able to get Food Pantry donations (tomorrow is a Food Pantry Day as is Monday) a clothing donation to the Park Ministry (Sunday is a Meal/Clothing in the Park Day) out perfectly this weekend! That brings me such joy. Dad and I also, thanks to Terri got to have our picture taken holding our framed, "Daily Sun Newspaper." Terri also so kindly brought us some remnant squares that a nearby carpet dealer had given her for us. Sadly, none of them were what we had in mind. We want something very plushy that is more like a pile rug possibly. Dad said this morning at least 2-3 inches thick in softness. Dad did call this place to thank the man for giving Terri the samples. Dad also found out that what this place would charge is WAY more than we would be able to afford to spend anyway. So good to know. We also called Empire this morning. They only do wall-to-wall carpeting. God willing, on Monday morning we will go to at least once carpet place to buy something. This can't keep being delayed at least not for my 🦶Thank you all again for your extra 🙏❤️Updates to come!

:grouphug:dear Snowysmom and :dogdance::cheer2:Prayers the puppy did bring you an extra smile! Always and forever, you know this, cheers for YOU! My only condo suggestion is to go back on a quieter day and keep it in prayer. Let God guide you, always, of course, and your heart with His call on that. You will know, dear friend. I promise💓

:grouphug:💕extra to you as well dear Lynn! Sounds like you need a new doctor! Lipitor does sound familiar as a medication my late grandma once was on. I'm pretty sure (of course, I don't remember 100% as this was years ago, that it may have been a medication that caused my beloved grandma trouble :() Prayers you find a truly compassionate and knowledgeable doctor that is right for both you and Don!

I'm on Atorvastatin which is generic Lipitor. It's a cholesterol medication. Personally I've had no problems and it's kept my cholesterol on good levels.

@lynxstch Sounds like it is time for a new PCP. I waited to change PCPs until he retired and I should have done it years before. The PCP I found through a friend's referral is amazing. Change is good.

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you and your father can find what you need for a rug at a price you can afford. It is hard these days to find that. I do find the plushier rugs are better for my feet. Kenny has rugs in the bedroom and it is so much better. Nice that you got to see your friend Terri and she could help.

Good morning. It is a bit cloudy here now from raining alot of the afternoon and evening yesterday. It is supposed to be better day, around 80. Tonight Older DS and the kids are going to the drive in. I am not a fan and don't really feel up to all the hoopla surrounding that. I am looking for more quiet lately. I talked with Jeff yesterday about the condo issue and other family stuff. He is so smart and analytical. I told him that talking with him makes me feel better. I am going to visit them tomorrow morning. Next weekend they leave for WDW for a week. Older DS found out that the judge denied his soon to be exs motion to move the kids to a new school district. She did not have the right to make her own decision to move the kids. So now they need to figure out the next step. As of now the kids will be in the schools in this town but who knows what will happen with mediation. I am glad it went this way as she needs to know that she can't just make a decision about the kids by herself. It is joint parenting.

Have a good day. Off to work!

Good sunny morning. Warming up quickly, getting to 88 or so. No rain until tomorrow, sounds like Saturday might be a wash out.

@Snowysmom So glad to hear that the ex's to move the kids to a new school district was denied. Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Nothing new around here. It's cleaning day. Dusting, vacuuming, washing the floor etc. So I better get to it

Have a great Friday!

Good morning everyone, The weather was so nice walking the dog this morning but I think we are due for some heavy winds later today.

Laundry is on the agenda and then rest. My back is giving me issues that sends shooting pains down to my bad knee and ankle. It's been a while since I have had to deal with that. I have bulging discs in my lower back from a car accident over 25 years ago. I was hit head on and was lucky I had relatively minor issues, the back being one of them. I figure it's better than being dead so I cope.

My grandson went to a college recruitment camp for baseball this week. He was reviewed by the recruiter from Yale. To say that he got a great review is an understatement. He was given 4.5 stars out of 5. The fact that he still is only going into his sophomore year in high school impressed this man even more. My daughter just hopes to get some scholarship help for college in a few years since she has 3 boys to get through school. Anthony has such a passion for the game and is constantly working to improve he skills. Thankfully he is in a good school that appreciates him and what he can do. My grandson Jay wanted to play baseball in college and maybe even try out for the Phillies but his high school coaches destroyed his passion for playing. I hope Anthony can realize his dreams.

@PollyannaMom - Love the picture of your cat. We had one that looked like her. My husband called him Tips because he always had just the tip of his tongue showing. I named him Gray Cat Soon to Be Dead because he was constantly in my way whenever I was making something to eat. Sadly we lost him a few years ago, he got out and was gone for a couple of weeks before we found him. We think he was poisoned, but we also found a couple lumps that turned out to be BB pellets. Some of my neighbors are very mean people. I am so thankful my 2 boys never try to go outside.

@Judique - My husband takes Atorvastatin too with no issues. I didn't realize it was Lipitor, but then again I don't pay attention to brand names. As long as I know what to reorder at the pharmacy I am happy.

Hope you all have a nice Friday

Happy Friday!:flower:

Weather should be good today so hopefully Mia and I can play in the pool for a bit this afternoon :sunny:. This is my last Friday working from home and my last 1/2 day Friday. My boss went back on our agreement of working 1/2 days on Fridays until Labor Day, I'm not happy.>:( Hopefully I can find a new job and get away from the new micro-managing boss that started here in January.

Still coughing but feel a lot better than I felt this time last week. The coughing is just annoying.😷

Off work this weekend so I'm hoping the weather will be good so that I can sit by the pool all weekend.:beach: I won't have a weekend off after this for quite a while. I do want to go see The Haunted Mansion this weekend. If the weather is good I might wait until Tuesday after work to see it.

A puppy in the office!!!! OMG, all I would have been doing is playing with the puppy.🥰

Have a great day!

Love the picture of your cat. We had one that looked like her...Sadly we lost him a few years ago...
Sorry to hear about your kitty. It's hard to believe people can be so awful. :sad2:

Hopefully I can find a new job and get away from the new micro-managing boss that started here in January.
🍀 Good luck!

Good afternoon:grouphug:

Dad is long safely home thanks to God from doing laundry and shopping at Ralphs. Quiet afternoon except for a sudden stream of unwanted (spam) phone calls! Oh well. We haven't had many of them for a while. They do seem to come in waves. This weekend we're going to watch a DVD from the 90's that we once liked called Little Big League. The little boy actor reminds me of a church camper Nick. Nick today must be close to 15 and his sister at least 12. Wow, kiddos sure grown right up!

:hug:dear Taz and I am so sorry about your cat. That is sheer cruelty! Awful indeed. God Bless both Anthony and Jay. May they both absolutely realize their dreams. How blessed they and all your grandkids are to have YOU in their lives. 🙏❤️extra for your back, dear friend.

💕extra with feel all better prayers to you as well dear Footballmouse! I'm so sorry you're still coughing. A cough really is the worst! Dad and I do find Werther's Original, the hard candy, helpful as it soothes our throats while also tasting good. Cough drops never do anything for me other than taste disgusting! I completely agree about the :dogdance:I'd be playing with him, too!

:thanks:Judique for the love you give your Yorkie and always PollyannaMom thank you for the love you give your cats!

Wishing all of dear you a happy rest of the day with love.

Good afternoon! I’ve seen a few articles floating around talking about a new strain of Covid that is making the rounds again. 😬 I am going to test tomorrow as I got hit a little suddenly with some minor cold symptoms, but I am seeing some old friends tomorrow and I don’t want to be in close quarters with them if I’m sick. I doubt it’s that but I think we still have a few test kits laying around (probably expired, lol). I hope those of you who were sick are feeling better now.

This morning the kids and I stopped by an auto body place to talk about DS’s car with them. Met a nice guy who was super helpful. DS was rear ended last week by a girl probably looking at her phone. The funny part was that, behind the girl was a police car 😝, and DS knew the officer! So he was witness to what happened and they all got out and exchanged information and documented the hit. But he also has a spot on his car where someone hit him in a garage and took off, so we wanted to get that fixed, too. This guy thinks rates won’t go up for that hit, saying things like that happen all the time, but we’ll see. I told DS just be honest about it.

We then went to breakfast which was nice. DS went home and got the dogs while DD and I ran into a candy store (and afterward we took the dogs out but it was hot!). I wanted to pick up a little something for the friends I’m seeing. I got an assortment of cute little bags of candy so they can pick what they like. I also grabbed a big bag of popcorn as after we go to a restaurant we’re going back to my friends house to sit outside. These are friends I grew up with. We’ve kept a group chat going and we’ve stayed close that way, but I don’t get to see them in person too often so I’m looking forward to that tomorrow. We had some crazy times growing up together in the 70s that we love to reminisce about. I’m sure it will be loud, lol. :hyper2:

Mona I was thinking about your rug situation. You must have some really great thrift shops around where you live! Go in there and look around! I don’t mean Salvation Army, but higher end stores. I love perusing those myself. It relaxes me so there are some I go to regularly. Anyway, just days before you mentioned the rug I was looking through some beautiful rugs that were hanging up on racks and they looked really nice! I didn’t pay a lot of attention to price because I wasn’t in the market to buy one, but I’m sure they were priced to sell. People move and change styles all the time, so some of these places are loaded with nice things. You live among celebrities and such so I’m sure it’s worth a shot! Unless you don’t like things that are used (which some people don’t). Either way, I hope you can find what you’re looking for. You could also try stores like Big Lots. They sometimes have a decent selection. Hugs to you and your dad.

Taz, your post brought back memories of DS’s college baseball recruitment. It was a crazy time trying to get two into college at the same time, and adding in the sport piece was like having a third. I had a notebook going just to keep track of everything! There’s a lot of studying to do about the recruitment process in order to make the right choice for the student player. DS’s pitching was the thing that sealed the deal for him, as the pitching coach where he went really loved him (although initially he was going to be a two-way player, when he started they made him a pitcher-only, which he was happy about). What his college coach said about him his senior year made me cry (they post tributes to each senior as part of their graduation) and it wasn’t just about his playing ability, it was about him as a person. And he complimented us, too, saying DS was a great guy who came from a great family. :goodvibes He also said DS had one of the best curveballs he’d ever seen:earseek:(which was saying a lot because this guy’s been around, and that was the first time I’d heard that from him). Their team made it to the College World Series, which was so much fun (we went, too) and DS played in a well known, old collegiate league out of state during the summer (which we rented a place for so we could go to games as often as we could), so those were really great experiences for him, and for all of us, really, as a family. We were at the airport (MCO) one tournament trip when we saw the team walking down the hallway and my heart swelled with pride, they all looked like such great young men and were so well behaved, the whole group of them. DS was very fortunate to have the head coach he had as he didn’t just care about them as players, but as people. He had them all volunteering at food pantries and coaching local little league teams, etc. It’s helped shaped who DS is today.

Well I suppose I should get moving as I have a lot to do tonight, including my toenails, lol. After my last mani/pedi (months ago) my nail beds were off so I’ve been growing my nails out without putting a lot of extra stuff on them like they do there. I bought some oil for nail hydration and I just put polish on - no base coat or top coat, which I really think causes the nail not to “breathe” and they get dry. Anyway, I did the first half before and now I just have to do the polish, I’m going to see if DD will help me out, lol. Now I just have to figure out what to wear. 😬

Enjoy the rest of the evening, all! 🐥

At DS’s game the other night 🥰

Just want to share the deal to anyone who might be able to use it :)
Thanks for the tip Mona! I think that eggs are cheaper here than where you live. An 18 count is currently going for $1.89 at the Kroger near me and I got an 18 count for $1.49 with a 40 cent coupon on Wednesday.

I do have some good news, I got to see the kids!!! Carol had to pick up Lou Lou from YMCA camp on Wednesday because she was sick so Carol contacted her attorney asking if I could watch the kids so she could prepare for Meet the Teacher that was on Thursday night. He said it would be okay since there were no restrictions on me. She expected him to say no, so did I, because up till that point, I was not allowed to see the kids. Whatever the reason, I was soooooo glad to be able to see them and they were glad to see me. I spent the night so I wouldn't have to get up as early to drive back over on Thursday. Lou Lou was much better on Thursday so I took them to Meet the Teacher and to see the school that Carol teaches at plus where their classrooms will be. Lou Lou didn't want me to go home last night and Lil Joe cried for his Papaw. I understand with the allegations made against Joe, though false ones, the courts have to take precautions but why can't they see their Papaw when there are other people around and not at our house? Why can't we attend church together? I pray that truth will prevail and one day soon we are all back together.

:hug:and thank you dear Pea so much. Many prayers you indeed do not have Covid! Praise extra to God absolutely that your son is okay and that it sounds like the girl was, too. How perfect that the officer was witness and that your son knows him! :car:prayers that resolves peacefully! I appreciate YOU forever so much, you best know that by now! Thank you for your rug ideas. We would definitely want a new rug. Terri did suggest that some thrift stores might have received a donation of new. Big Lots, the one nearest to us (a good half hour away) didn't have anything the last time we went there! Very disappointing from pre Covid times! That is also a great idea though. we can call others for sure. Of course, at that time, we also weren't rug shopping! So far, we're not finding anywhere that has in store a plushy rug, we would want it at least 3 inches if not more thick and just completely soft. I do know a large rug would need a pad. We may just need to get a ton of smaller rugs which we'd, of course, prefer not to do but would work. Blessed for sure to have options. Thank you and everyone for your extra prayers and love on this!

Dear, Dear Kirby, "I liked" your post as you best know because at last you got to see your precious grandkids, praise extra to God! Of course, the truth will come out/ You know how it breaks my heart that it is the kiddos who truly are suffering here. That makes me see red! Glad, always to help you save money🥚Prices sure keep going up at Ralph's so we appreciate any extra savings we can get! ❤️a ton and prayers always.

I'm sure this is what I had. First I thought I had a cold, then a sinus infection and finally accepted that it was Covid (testing positive helped clear up the guessing).

I don't think I've ever seen a rug three inches thick! (And what I'm reading online is 1/4" to 5/8") - do you have a picture of what you are looking for?

I’ll add my “Good night” since we got home from Shenandoah NP and I came here to read how everyone is doing.💤
Welcome home!

@Pea-n-Me, I hope the Covid test is negative and you are able to have a great time with your friends!

@Kirby, that's wonderful you got to see the kids!!

@Kirby Glad you got to see the grandkids. I hope this is resolved soon so they can see their Papaw. They must be so confused.

@Pea-n-Me Glad your DS was not hurt in the accident. Very fortunate that there was a police officer right there. Have fun with your friends.

@ Bobbiwoz Welcome home.

@footballmouse Hope you feel better.

Good morning. Sunny and expected to be in the 80s today. I am seeing Jeff and family this morning. They always have a busy social schedule so I see them when they have time. Jeff's birthday was yesterday. He and Aimee are going to a movie today. Her parents and sister watch the kids. I cannot do it alone. In October Jeff and Aimee are going to a wedding in RI so the kids are all coming to Kenny's. We will have a big sleepover. They can make pizzas, do sundaes, and watch movies. There were be 2-3 adults so we should be good. Plus oldest DGD sometimes likes to think she is in charge.

Have a good day.
