Good morning(afternoon for almost all of you...lol)

It's cold this morning. First day the cars were frozen. DD was very appreciative DH was home to go out and start it up to defrost for her this morning. I keep saying next car I get will have remote start like our truck. I have lunch with an old friend today. We've been friends since 3rd grade so like almost 40 years I think. Crazy. Love her and miss her so was happy to get a text last night asking if I was free for lunch today. Driving about 45 minutes away and hoping I can head home before the weekend traffic starts.

We're just doing a turkey breast this year, it's just the 3 of us plus my dad and we always have way to many leftovers for a house full of people who don't care for leftovers too many days and no more dogs. We did two last year and even after sending home some with my dad, feeding to the dogs and lots of turkey sandwiches I still threw some out.

DD and I had eye appointments last night. I had a change of prescription and she didn't. She's so sweet and treated her momma to a new pair of glasses. LOL. While we were gone we missed a visit from the baby. They were taking a walk from our friends house and decided to stop by, DH was home so he was lucky to see them. I saw her last week when we stopped at our friends while they were there. She's was knocked out when we got there an woke up all smiles to see me soon after. 😊 My grandma made her the blanket so I took this pic to send to her to see.

@Kirby continued prayers for your son. Sounds like he is in great care, happy to hear they are starting treatment right away. My aunt recently had a cancer diagnosis and she had to wait for approval from insurance before they would start. :sad2:

@Snowysmom I hope you shopping goes well today.

Alright hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Good Morning everyone from very chilly LA,

Dad by now I pray is almost done doing a big load of :laundy:Thankfully he went to Ralph's yesterday so doesn't need to go there this morning. He may stop by Rite Aid on his way home. We've already gotten 5 spam calls this morning at just after 10am here. Thankfully for the last half hour+ the ☎️has been quiet:cheer2:Extra thank you today to all Veteran's both past and present and their families. God Bless You all!

Big :grouphug:Kirby. It does sound like James is receiving great care. I also know that doesn’t ease your heart, especially at a distance, from all he is going through. Please, my friend, remember to take care, be good to yourself, and always may you know we care and are here. Most of all, forever, that none of you are ever alone. God is with you!

Snowysmom, I’m truly thankful you treated yourself to breakfast. I pray it was tasty and that your Christmas shopping 🛍️is fun in some way. God Bless your precious grandkids! Children truly are such blessings!

Good to hear from you dear Carol. Very grateful extra to God all is well with you and your family. Prayers for continuing safe travels to Andrew and his family. Enjoy being retired! Prayers that both Tessa’s and your DD’s dentist🦷 appointments went well. Thank you as always for all you do in good service to God at your church.

Please stay safe and dry, Lynn along with all of you in Nicole’s path in anyway. Whatever Christmas decorations you do put up will be lovely and bring good cheer as they should. Thankful to hear you have chosen not to do too much! Changing of seasons and celebrations can be work but should bring joy to all, especially you, my friend as you already do so much for everyone else. Don’t ever forgot, you so matter, too!

Quiet mornings are often the biggest blessing, PollyannaMom. Prayers that you and your cats are cozy and enjoying some good 📺

:grouphug:along with extra prayers for your aunt, AuntieMe3. I’m truly sorry she is going through Cancer and that her care is being delayed. Extra prayer that when her treatment begins it goes very smoothly and easily for her! God Bless indeed the baby. I LOVE that she is wrapped up in love from your grandma. What a precious extra blessing. I, of course, also love the pink color. Stay warm out there, my friend. It’s still plenty chilly for me, here!

Wishing all of you a good Friday. I'll check back in later.

Hello all,
Today we went to an appt. at the florist, the flowers are going to be beautiful, for the wedding. She is going with deep reds, maroons, purples and deep pink colors. They call it a “moody” palette. Which is appropriate because she was always my moody child.😂

Before the appt, I couldn’t resist stopping at TJ Max. I bought the two granddaughters matching Christmas dresses, they are so cute. I‘ll have to get the new baby an outfit when we find out if it’s a boy or girl. Her due date is tomorrow, she’s said no signs yet. She didn‘t make it to the hospital in time for her last one so she is a bit on edge.

:grouphug:Dazed and healthy new baby and mom, prayers! The flower colors sound beautiful🌸

Dad and I finished watching A Kindhearted Christmas which overall we enjoyed. We also agreed that after 2 hours toward the end, we were glad to hear Christmas Caroler's singing to and acknowledging Jesus. I loved that Jamie wanted her acts of kindness to remain anonymous. As I have shared, for me, that the most blessed way I pray to be of tiny service. I didn't care for the deception once she knew Scott truly wanted to know how the town's Secret Santa was. IMO she should have told him trusting that h would respect her wishes, which he sure kindly did, to remain anonymous. Didn't like that Kylie, her niece, David, Kylie's husband along with Jamie's friend Colleen encouraged in a way Jamie to continue to mislead Scott. Loved that the town's mayor quietly thanked Jamie at the end, letting her know he knew she was the Secret Santa. It was also dear to my heart, how touching Scott's end report was. Right now, during the ongoing pandemic, taking time to let those God has trusted us to love and care for that forever above all else that God loves and is with them. They are never alone. And that also, they make a difference to us, and we give Him thanks for their presence in our life with love and care, means more to me than ever. Take time, dear friends, to reach out to someone you love and/or care for right now and tell them so! And, always, know I give Him thanks for each one of you, too with love.

Have a good evening and sweet dreams!🐥❤️

It sure rained today. Remnants of Nicole. Now it is 70 at 8:30. Very odd.

After yoga this morning, Jack and I decided to road trip to look for a small pencil Christmas tree. We started at Home Depot and I got mini lights to replace the ones around my manger scene that burned out last year.

(These are for @easyas123 ) Then went to the garden store formerly know as Ronnie's. Boy, is it expensive. Did find a reasonably priced small star for the pencil tree we hoped to get, and an ornament for Marty. Jack and I started a tradition of getting each grandchild an ornament for Christmas that reflected something tree liked at that stage of their life. Then when they go out on their one, they will have a collection of ornaments for their trees. We got Marty a little wooden giraffe, Tessa a rainbow, and Carter a Mickey head.

Next stop Willey's. Bought bird seed and corn on the cob for the squirrel feeder. And we found our pencil tree. It is 4.5 ft tall and pre-lit. Andrew gets us a White House and a Secret Service ornament each Christmas. This year will make 12 years so 24 ornaments. Decided to give them their own tree.

After that, to Panera for a late lunch and a visit to Sarah and family. Stopped at Food Lion on the way home for bread for communion, fresh fruit, and ice cream.

At least one thing I remembered that I quoted but can't remember who was taking about it. Maybe @Judique ? When packing this last trip, we each packed an smaller over night bag for the hotel on the way down. That way we didn't have to take our bigger suitcase in that night. Same on the way home. When we drive to Miami in January for our cruise, we will use the same strategy so we can leave cold weather clothes in the car.

I will respond more if I remember more.

Watching the MASH finale, again.

I was in the office this morning. I like to see everyone and probably talk too much when I am there. I asked my supervisor again about the doctor she recommended I try. I have an appt Dec 1. She told me that the doctor and her nurse practitioner are both lovely and caring. She said her niece is anxious too and had to find a new doctor so my boss recommended that her niece try this doctor. Her niece had to see the nurse before she had an appt with the doctor and she loves the nurse. That makes me feel a bit better. I know I will still be anxious and my bp will be up but at least I have an idea of what to expect. I just hate to get weighed even though I have lost alot of weight over the years. :crazy2: It goes back to childhood.

Will doctors really listen to that? I would love to say that on my visit and explain to the doctor why and that maybe next time we can discuss it. I think I will try that when I go in for my first visit. That way I can talk with the doctor and be able to just concentrate on whether she is the right doctor for me. I love it! Thanks for the input.
I didn’t want to respond to this on my phone as it’s too difficult on a small screen to dissect quotes and all that.

Anyway, I think, yes, what you say in your second quote here is what I think, as well. I mean, sure, they, at some point, will want to know your accurate weight, it‘s an important part of your overall health assessment, that’s a given. BUT, you also have other pressing issues right now going on and, for a first visit, at least, where you’re the one assessing whether this doctor is right for you, it’s more important to be comfortable at the appointment this time, if that makes sense. (Many people have deep-seated issues related to shame over their weight that not everyone understands. ) So, if it comes up in the appointment, I would just briefly explain your history (and tell the doctor what your weight is if they harp on it), but not go through the stress of actually being weighed right then and there, if that’s what helps you feel comfortable this time, on your first appointment. (I also wouldn’t get into a big, drawn out explanation with the medical assistant, just “Not today, thank you” with a smile is enough.) I’d also mention to the doctor that you’ve lost weight, walk several times daily and are mindful of your health, etc., but that you’ve been through some massive stress and life changes over the past 15 months and that is what you’re struggling most to deal with at the present time, etc. I think they will likely understand. I do hope it works out for you. 💐

Meant to ask this yesterday. I am so blessed to have my larger Nativity from Terri that dad and I set up each Advent in the back room. I'd love to also have a small, possibly one piece, Nativity to be able to put beside a small potted
🎄
in here, our living room. I am thinking also of surprising my cousins with one for Christmas--theirs would have to be Amazon ordered so it could be directly sent to them. I am pretty sure I remember some of you have small Nativities? I'd appreciate any recommendations and thank you.
Remember our whole nativity discussion in 2020? 😝

Let me see what I have. I know I picked a really cute one up at an estate sale last year (at a house from the 1600 or 1700’s!, can’t remember which) and it was an “extra” as I already had one a similar size, so let me talk to DH about it and see if there’s a way I could ship it out to you without the pieces getting broken. I would love for you to have it! We just have to fish it out of our XMas decorations, lol. I will ask him about it this weekend. (Found a pic from last year. I just could not leave it there when I saw it! I believe we glued the pieces down so they wouldn’t fall and break, and added the “hay”. I think it’s adorable, but I have another one the same size as well as a super large nativity that we inherited from DH’s parents in which DH had made the stable for them. It’s really too big for us but I did put it out last year, as well, so we had three!)

This is mine that I’ve had for a long time. We’d discussed here before that originally there were adorable little handmade stuffed figurines but we’d lost some of them, so I picked up these little characters somewhere last year (gosh I can’t even remember where, I must be losing it 🤪 I might have ordered them on Amazon) and so it was functional again, but I do miss my original pieces. 🥲

Oh, and I just remembered, too, that DH had bought me this last year, too! I’d seen it in Home Goods and really liked it so DH went back and bought it and gave it to me for Christmas. It was the last one and he noticed while in line that a piece was broken so they discounted it, lol. I have got to find a spot for it this year. There are so many nice nativity ideas out there!

I noticed some of my neighbors already have their houses decorated for Christmas. Heck, I don’t even have all of my Thanksgiving things out yet! And I still have the fall decorations out outside. I’m feeling rushed! :rotfl2: But looking through my pictures from last year now I am getting a little motivated to get the house decorated for Christmas, in a way. Ugh! :lmao:

Toto enjoying the holiday decor last year.

Sorry so long, I was going to split it up but it’s hard to copy and paste quotes (for some reason it’s hard for me to copy on this forum). Have a good Saturday, all! 🐥

@dazedx3 The flowers for the wedding sound lovely. And now you are on baby watch!

Good morning. Drizzly here right now. I did get my walk in around 6:45. It didn't rain until towards the end so that was good. It is strange to be 70 degrees here right now.

I have cleaned the bathrooms, changed the bed and washed the sheets, and cleaned the kitchen. I am trying to keep busy. My mind keeps going and going thinking about changes in my life to come. Also we are planning Thanksgiving which will be at Kenny's house. I have to find out if he has mixing bowls, a mixer, measuring cups etc. I don't know what ex DDIL took with her and what Kenny bought to replace what she took which is fine. I am bringing all the ingredients for my contributions as I am going to his house on Tuesday. I will bake Wed and do my sides on Thurs. I may stay with Kenny until Fri or Sat. I think I am going to take a tour around the area to look at condo complexes and get a really good feel of the place. I lived there for 9 months with Kenny but it is different to be thinking of making it a permanent move. I do feel comfortable in the area and like it alot and do need a fresh start. I may ask Kenny to take me on a grand tour of places I have not seen yet and adjacent towns. I know the towns nearby have alot to offer too. I need to find the senior center too.

Have a good day.

Good morning all. It was very mild outside last nite, it was still raining when I went to bed, but it must have stopped overnite as there are already dry spots on the road. They say more rain today, and our high temp will only be 59 (it's 57 now).

I started having issues with my phone last night, so we are looking into getting new phones. I called US Cellular and our phones are totally paid off, so we are eligible for new free ones. Up to $830 off each. We aren't looking at any that are much more than that anyhow. Our bill wouldn't change much from what it is now. I was using my phone for something (galaxy s10) and all of a sudden the phone locked up and wouldn't do anything, was stuck on the US Cellular logo. I couldn't even turn it off. I called tech support and they said it sounded like the battery was overheating (phone did feel warm in the back). I took it out of the case, and let it sit for 15 minutes and then it was fine. When I put it back in the case (it was a disney Beauty and the Beast one I had), it seemed to start draining the battery faster than usual. I have never had any issues in the 30 months we had it, and I was amazed at how long the battery lasted on a charge. I tried my case again this morning,,and the battery started going right down. It makes no sense to me that the case could be doing it, but it seems to be the cause, at least so far that I can determine. I put it in a different case I had, and so far the battery hasn't gone down at all, so maybe it is/was the case. I am on the mind set that I want a galaxy S22, Don wants a galaxy flip phone , but you couldn't give me one of those, even for free, lol!

Already stripped and remade the bed, and swept the kitchen and shook the rugs out. No point in washing them or the floor till the rains are done

@Snowysmom --sounds like you are in a good place with your thinking about a new place. You really haven't been happy in the condo since you moved there, and you need a house that feels like a home.

@Kirby--sending prayers your way for Mia,,,and hoping that she's doing better every day!

@Judique Just wanted to wish you a safe trip and a wonderful vacation

@Pea-n-Me That is so sweet of you to try and figure out a way to get a manger to Mona, I know it would mean the world to her if you can work it out.

@PollyannaMom I am sitting here trying to picture you typing with one hand. Is that why your morning messages are so short? LOL! Just kidding, as I do appreciate your checking in every day). We seem to have lost so many of our Quackers, that I am always happy to read posts from those who are still with us.

I did bring up the tote with the outside lights, today I will test them all and get them ready to go up this afternoon. Only going to be in the 40's all week, so I want them up before it starts getting cold.

Have a nice morning!

Good morning.

Not much going on today. We were supposed to babysit Tessa and Carter but Sarah's plans got cancelled so we have a free day.

I remembered another quote, and this goes back a while to the discussion of a turkey dinner or Thanksgiving sub. Has anyone had the Bobbi at Capriottis? It is a sub with real turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Very good.

See, one by one they will come back to me.

Yes, @lynxstch, quite often those morning hellos are typed awkwardly on my phone!

The sun is coming out here after the storm, and I am so glad to see it! The time change is enough to deal with right now - grey days only make it harder. The squirrels are out in force - checking the bird feeders for goodies. 🐿

Nothing big on the agenda today. Tomorrow we go to Bourne to pull up the Veterans Day flags so the groundskeepers can do their thing. Then DH has a few extra days off he needs to use up, so we're planning some projects and local outings next week. I'll have the kids after school on Wednesday as well.

:wave:Good Morning and Happy Saturday form chilly LA,

It's 57 right now. A no mail day always throws me off for some reason a little bit. We are expecting some card today along with an amazon package. I have also been thinking of possibly getting my dad a new Christmas stocking. He does very much like the stocking he has especially with the embellishment patches sewed on by a kind friend Melanie. I think it may be more about me wanting a new stocking. The stocking I have now, also lovingly added to by Melanie was one semi gifted (I say semi because I chose it at the store by myself) to me by a local friend, Barbara Ann, in 2019. What happened was when Barbara Ann heard I needed a new stocking she wanted to get one for me. One afternoon I was helping her with some home organizing and doing a couple errands for her including a trip to Hobby Lobby. While at Hobby Lobby, I did text her a picture of a few stockings I liked. She had given me money to pay for one. I did tell her that the one I ended up getting was my first choice and she liked it as well. Maybe it's just me or that my friendship with Barbara Ann has changed a bit since that time due to Covid, she will always be very special to me and we keep in touch. I just mean with some friends who you aren't able to physically see or have shared different views with on the phone rather than in person, a friendship can naturally (no blame to anyone) change. I admit to thinking of that stocking as a more of a brief memory of that afternoon rather than something lasting. Does this make any sense? I also know, my beloved dad shared with me when I got my current stocking that had I not picked one out he would have enjoyed doing that for me. All of you know how much I cherish him and being able to celebrate Christmas, God-willing, one again this year together and in health will, of course, be extra special. Maybe it is time for a new stocking. Thanks for kindly, as always, listening to all that.

Moving on to replying to some posts :)

Carol, I love your Christmas ornament 🎄tradition! What special memories you are giving your grandkids through them. Reminds me that I do want to continue in some way to do something similar with my dad. Last year, I got the ornaments with two stockings (one that says Mona and the other that says Dad) on them. God willing one day when I am able to safely get out with my dad, I’d love to get an ornament of a memory we made somewhere together be at home or out. I just mean that we can more choose together. Thinking about what to get this year. I still would love to find a Campbell’s Chicken Broth ornament or a toaster ornament for dad. I am not a glitter fan so any ornament or decoration would definitely need to be glitter free. Something fun to think about. 70 degrees sounds wonderful. Enjoy it!

:thanks:so much Pea! I do love the simpler Nativity with figurines that are reverent and have actual faces as opposed to blank ones or more painted (cartoony) faces. I also always appreciate when some animals are included. I believe with all my heart that the real animals present at Jesus’ birth also in new some way, He was/is very special indeed. I will PM you.

Stay warm, PollyannaMom! Watch a good movie along with your 🐈 perhaps. Dad and I did record last night Love at the Christmas Contest and will check that out later. Glad the sun is out more for you. Thank you and your husband for your kind service with the flags tomorrow.

Extra :grouphug:Snowysmom. I love the idea of Kenny accompanying you on some condo tours. I also think checking out the senior center along with general neighborhoods to see which feel more “home” to you is so important. Grateful you are able to take time and care to do all of that. I wish you added peace always, my friend. You know that.

Love the pumpkins with ::MickeyMoand::MinnieMo, Lynn. Lol, even I (I was a long-time flip phone hold onto person) have come to recognize how handy a basic smartphone is. For me and my dad we also learned that flip phones are often not fully supported at least the cheaper prepaid ones we would get and therefore not last more than a few months before having a lot of issues. My current smartphone is working overall great. It does sometimes do a few weird things such as freezing either on the home screen or while entering an email address or text. Occassioally it will delete text as I type it and when trying to take a picture even though it shows “camera” it will try to “record” instead but nothing actually records. All that was a too long-winded way of saying prayers that of course I hope you and Don get phones that will work well for you.

Stay warm and have a good Saturday everyone. I will check back later. 🙏Grandma Dazed for a safe and smooth delivery and healthy mom and baby!

I got the S21 5G in January, and I really like it. DH has a Galaxy Z Fold3, and he really likes the bigger screen. He hardly ever uses the small outside screen when it's folded up.

Weird, I couldn't type anything outside the quote box. Had to come back in to edit. I had a few more posts quoted to comment on, and only Lynxstch's showed. :magnify: STrange things.

Ran up to Publix this morning, for some basics. Ran across a Cannoli cake (vanilla cake, cannoli filling w/chocolate chips, whipped cream icing, ganache drip, baby cannolis on top) and couldn't resist. It is so good, not super sweet.

I had DH with me. :badpc: I know better. I know better. I know better than to bring him to the grocery store with me. He sees the sign "turkeys, .49 lb" and asks me if I'm cooking tday dinner. Mind you, we talked about this two weeks ago, he and I, and he said he was good with me skipping it, since it's just the two of us who eat it. :hyper2: Publix was out of the .49 turkeys, but hey, look Jenni...they have Butterballs for .99 lb. :confused3

I had to make room in the big freezer for a 15 lb turkey (smallest I could find). :rolleyes2:rolleyes2 I picked up some of the stuff for the dinner, but still need to get fresh stuff (like cranberries, onions, etc). I told him he is helping me cook because I am not doing it all myself. I'll probably make DS come help instead, so he can learn. :genie:

I'm going to take a nap. Have a good day, y'all.

That sound so good! Thanksgiving Dinner is my favorite dinner of the year.

I got to speak with DS this morning. He was out walking around the hospital and sounded real good. He had two infusions yesterday and today he got the pills, four of them. I asked how big they were and he said "pretty big". He'll have his chemo infusions again tomorrow, rotating with the pills every day till Wednesday. Then he'll begin staying in a hotel near the hospital for the next 28 days getting blood work done a couple times a week.

DH went over to DS's house to get his dog, Mack. DS wife flew back this morning to get more clothes and whatever he will need for the next month. Then DH will drop her off at the airport on the way home. I'm not fond of flying but I told DS that I would fly for him. It's a four hour drive to Houston and one hour in the air. After you check in and wait for your flight, it's about the same time but less tiring when you fly.

It sounds like he and you all are coping pretty well with your son’s diagnosis and plan of care. Just one thought I had, sometimes hospitals like that have a network of local rooms from volunteers who offer their home spaces up for situations like that, ie someone from out of town staying locally for a month for treatment. He could maybe look into that to see if there’s anything like it there. It may have nosedived with Covid, but you never know. Even with a hospital/patient discount, a month in a hotel can really add up. Keeping you all in my prayers. 🙏🏻

I have stuffed shells, meatballs and salad just about ready. Time to dig in. 🐥
