Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Did anybody watch Hocus Pocus 2 yesterday? I got Disney+ just for that and I was quite happy I did. The movie was a little different than I expected, but I enjoyed it.
Yes, I watched it first thing yesterday morning!

I still like the first one better, but I definitely enjoyed it. šŸŽƒ

It has stopped raining here for now. It is chilly at 55. I got another walk in this afternoon.

This morning I went to target and got the grandkids some clothes for Christmas. DDIL likes the clothes from the Cat and Jack line at Target and the clothes fit the kids well. I got the next size up from what they are in now. They will only grow and grow between now and the holidays. I also got new bathroom rugs. The ones I got when I moved in do not have a secure backing so they slip around a bit. I want something safer so I am happy with my new rugs now. I went to the wine store and that was definitely a confusing place. I am not into all the nuances of wines so I just kind of looked around. I doubt I will go back. It was not my kind of place. I went to the local grocery store for frozen pizza which I forgot yesterday when I was out. Their prices weren't too bad for the pizza. I splurged yesterday and got an ice cream at a stand nearby. I got one of Chris' favorite flavors, Coffee heath Bar. So good. I ate half yesterday and will finish it up tonight. No more splurges until Disney. Then it is vacation food so calories don't count. I think we will celebrate Kenny's birthday belatedly with Mickey bars. I am taking him out to dinner on Tuesday but the rest of the family is busy until the trip.

@tazdev3225 I like the idea of lists for the trip. I used to do that all the time when it was Chris and I. When I go on solo trips I am sure I will be making lists. Now with the grandkids we are just winging it. We know what parks each day and know what quick service places we like. The kids are not going to sit still for table service so we only have the one character lunch at Tusker House. I did look at the menus for the food and wine festival and know I want to visit France and Canada. The China menu looks interesting too. I hope you continue to feel better.

B&B Hope your post hurricane cleanup goes well.

Have a good Saturday.

Good evening.

I planned on Frozen Pizza for dinner tonight but ordered from Bob Evans instead. I made the Zucchini Bread, 6 loaves total. Three just have chocolate chips for my son, grandson and one daughter. Three had chocolate chips and nuts. I'll keep one and one is for my other daughter. I may give the third to a neighbor who we are very friendly with. He always keeps an eye on the house when we vacation.

While I was baking, I thought I smelled gas. I had my husband come out to the kitchen and he smelled it too. I called the gas company because honestly, I didn't want to blow up overnight while I was sleeping. It was more of a precaution than anything. Thankfully there were no leaks detected but my less than 2-year-old and already out of warranty oven may need a repair. As the gas man explained he thinks the ignitor isn't working properly allowing some gas to escape before it catches. Now I have to see if I can get the part and if my grandson can do the repair. It's fairly simple I just can't get down on my knees anymore.

At least I got the Zucchini Bread done first. I'll deliver tomorrow and warned my son that I will be out of quarantine but I don't want to risk them catching anything. We were supposed to head to their house for football and pizza. I may make a big batch of my homemade spaghetti sauce. It will serve several purposes that way. I get a few meals for the week, I can make homemade lasagna next week, and I can make a few meals for my husband for while I am gone. He may eat more than peanut butter that way. I honestly only know how to make enough sauce for a small army.

I'm hoping my husband will let me binge on Hocus Pocus again tonight since I am sitting through college football, but I doubt it. The Phillies have another game tonight not that they are worth watching. First time in 10 years they have a shot at the playoffs, and they are acting like the 1964 Phillies who self-destructed and let my Cardinals win. I told my husband I am wearing my Cardinals Jersey for the playoffs. I was a die-hard Cards fan from birth and my husband and son could not sway me. I started rooting for the Phillies for my Jay. That grandson of mine had me wrapped around his little finger from the day he was born. My BIL and I always had a friendly argument about the which was the better team. When he passed away, I was asked to wear a Cardinals Jersey to his funeral since he enjoyed teasing me about being a St. Louis fan.

Hope everyone has a nice night.

Happy Birthday Lynn! :cake:

Got up and went to Lou Lou's soccer game with DD. No Lou Lou. DD's ex didn't bother to take her even though DD gave him all of her uniform and ball. So we stayed for awhile and then went to brunch at Standard Service. We both had breakfast tacos, I had stone ground grits with white cheddar and DD had herb roasted potatoes as our sides. The taco shell was actually made out of eggs, very different with a slice of bacon, tator tots and crema poured over it. It was good, I'd like to know how they made the egg taco shells. Coffee was also good.

DD and I went to Costco to walk around and, of course, spent money. I found a Christmas gift for my Book Club Christmas party gift game. It was a set of three very cute casserole dishes. Bought a second set for a future
gift to DD when she moves out but she doesn't know that yet. Bought a book and also some multi use mugs for another group of friends for Christmas. And a bag of almonds wrapped in coconut dipped in dark chocolate. It's like having a small Almond Joy. Yum!

DD has been trying to do something new to her whenever the kids are gone with their dad, sort of to keep her mind off of them. Today she made butter for the first time. She did a good job and it is very tasty!

Vacuumed the house and cleaned my bathroom. Did two loads of laundry and finished cleaning the kitchen after dinner a little bit ago. DH cooked hamburgers. We also had sweet potato fries and Bush Baked Beans.

Now DD and I are going to try and get in a couple of episodes of the House of Dragons series. We are way behind having only seen episode one.

Good evening, friends,

Snowysmom :hug:you are a very wise and kind grandma that is for sure! Very smart to purchase young kid's clothing in a larger size as children sure grow quickly. As we all know, like anything, clothes sure is not cheap! Enjoy every bite of youršŸØ

Big:grouphug:Taz and praise God that you and you and your family are safe! Gas is nothing to mess with ever! I remember being shocked as well as beyond grateful to God for His extra mercy and protection of my elderly friend Sue a few years ago. She had thought she smelled some gas, wasn't sure ad didn't think much of it until the gas company discovered old piping (I think) or something was very wrong! Please be sure your appliances and heaters are truly safe. Also, of course, this time of year, I try to put out there, thank you Taz, also, for reminding me of this, to never use your oven as a heater! :scared1:Go Cardinals and Phillies, my friend ⚾

:grouphug:Kirby and how glad I am to hear you got yourself a few treats. I, of course, am so sad about the Lou Lou part of your share. Just awful. šŸ™always for her and all of you!

Have a good night and sweet dreams, everyone.

.... I only have 3 tests left and I need to keep 2 for Jim just in case. I know I can get 8 per month for each of us free with Medicare but I can't find the link to order them...

... You can't 'order' them per say. It says you have to go to a participating pharmacy to get them...

I was just at CVS picking up a prescription and as I was paying a message popped up asking something about the covid tests. I quickly swiped no and didn't give it a thought until I read this. I have another prescription due by the end of next week so I'm going to pay attention next time as we could use some tests as ours will expire by end of December.

For everyone needing more Covid home tests, CVS has them (8/mo., no charge with insurance). Our pharmacist gives us a bag of 8 when we pick up our monthly refills.

@lynxstch : Hope you had a great birthday!

Not sure how they did it, but found this recipe for using a fried egg to make the taco shell--https://spoonuniversity.com/recipe/how-to-use-a-fried-egg-as-a-taco-shell

Yummy--almond joys are my favorites!

Good for her..and with the cost of butter going up, and the expected shortage, she needs to make more!

Good morning everyone. Another gloomy, gray, cold, (as in 52 for a high) and rainy day. Matches my mood, and my headache. I was planning on getting the tv set up today, but when I opened the box for the stand, I realized that the HDMI cables I ordered weren't in the package. Checked my Amazon, and for some reason the cables were delayed and won't be here until tomorrow. Oh well, so we look at a huge box sitting against the wall in the living room for another day. The cats are loving it, they have been climbing up, around, behind it, chasing each other, and hiding,,lol.

I was looking for something new to watch last night from my tivo'd list, and settled on So Help Me Todd--I really liked it. It's different, quirky, and just the kind of show I needed to watch. Nothing heavy, nothing scary, some funny parts, nothing overly exciting, but I found it to just be a good show. Don (DH) watched La Brea, but I still can't get into it at all.

I have been wanting to try Sketchers sneakers for awhile, and for some odd reason, I got an email from them yesterday , offering me a 40% discount on any item , for one day only. I found a pair I liked, and hope I ordered the right size, lol. I got $105 sneakers for $63, and I have seen the prices in Kohls and Super Shoes, and no way could I find them at either for that price!
Football today. Don (Mr L)'s Packers play my Patriots, so we will be on opposite sides of the living room, and the game rooting on our own teams. Then my Bucs play tonite. I kind of wish Brady would retire and stay retired so I would only have to follow one team, lol!

Have a nice morning all!

Lynn Hopefully you can rest a bit today and watch the football game. When I was living with Kenny I would watch the Patriots and Bucs games with him. Maybe when I move back out to that area I can resume watching some games with him. I hope your Sketchers work out.

Tazdev You were smart to call the gas company. Sorry to hear your stove needs repair but thankfully it wasn't a bigger issue.

@Kirby Your shopping trip was productive. Those almonds sound delicious and the homemade butter does too. I am making a note to buy butter this week and freeze it for sugar cookies for the holidays.

Good morning. It is windy and cool here, around 55. Nice walking weather. I took my first walk of the day, went to Wegman's just for something to do and get my usual stuff I get there, got pumpkin spice coffee which I get once or twice a Fall for Chris, then changed the bed and am washing the sheets. I will do some work a bit later and walk a couple more times today. I hope to get to CVS later. Then I plan to try on shorts to see which ones I will bring to Disney. I have my shirts picked out already. I am not seeing anyone this weekend so it is lonely. I am trying to stay busy.

Have a good Sunday.

I love Sketchers..it's mostly what I wear; tennis shoes, workout shoes, lightweight beach sandals, slip ons, hiking shoes..all Sketchers. I wear Teva hiking sandals, though; I find them more comfy around the ankle. Sketchers tend to run skinny, so I always have to go up a size or two to fit my wide foot. (Bobs are worse; those things are made for slender feet!) Go Patriots and Bucs (and I feel dirty saying that, but I dislike the Packers more than the Pats, and I need KC to lose for the good of the Broncos :rotfl2: ). GO BRONCOS!!!

DH is going to fix the yard gate for me, so I can get the rest of the branches to the trash for tomorrow; I need to clean cat litter and the kitchen :crazy2:. I'm making spaghetti and meatballs for lunch; we ended up with Five guys yesterday, because DH's plane was over an hour late (and there was alllll kinds of drama with the flights coming back). Then need to shower and run up to Target to pick up my orders. I ordered some Halloween candy for trick or treating (Skittles/Starbursts full size and little Smarties for the littles) and some other items. I have 3 separate orders to pick up at Target, because DH keeps going "oh, did you get xx".. haha

I also ordered Halloween candy from Walmart, for shipping, because it was a good deal (KitKat/Hershey/Reese's full size); hoping we don't get more than 108 kids + littles. o_O Our first year at this address + first real Halloween out of pandemic mode, so no idea what we'll get; we are between two elementary schools (one is 1/2 mile up our direct road; the other about 1.5 miles but down a couple of turns).

@theluckyrabbit I have to purchase the OTC tests, and get reimbursed from Cigna, up to 8 tests per person per month. The Walgreens by us isn't handing out free ones, even with insurance; and the CVS is in Target and isn't doing it either. Thanks for the reminder, though; we are down to two tests!

@Kirby Those tacos sound like something DH would eat. I'm not big on eggs.

@Snowysmom I'm jealous of the cool weather; although this week after Ian blew through, it's been chilly in the mornings...high 50s, but up in the high 80s again, with humidity, in the afternoons.

Gotta get moving..have a good day!

Good Morning from cooler CA,

Always so good to have you stop by, Luckyrabbit!

šŸ™you did have a Happy Birthday, Lynn and of course, feel much better soon today! It's fun discovering a new or new oldšŸ“ŗshow! I love Skechers. re pandemic, dad and I would go several times a year to Skechers Factory Outlet Stores. The prices at those stores are cheaper than at Skecher's stores in the mall. Plus, at these stores, shoes are always Buy 1, Get one 50% off. The other savings at Skechers is that they do offer a store rewards card--not a credit card. When you are signed up for Skecher's Elite, I believe it is called, every purchase earns points. X number of points=$5 printable coupon to use in store or online. Skechers seem to fit both dad and I especially best. Plus, we both like that they are lightweight, not so bulky/clunky, and come (this is my preference at times) come in fun colors. I hope you find a pair that make your feet happy! šŸ‘Ÿ

🌸Snowysmom. I wish I lived closer to be able to enjoy some of a cozy Sunday with you. Know, I am, all of us, are in spirit. Thinking of you, my friend, always.

:hug:B&B, so glad your DH did get home safely. Thanks for getting šŸ¬for the kiddos. Enjoy some yourself, my friend!

It's probably too early (service still going on) for me to watch worship, so I look forward to doing that later. Dad, thankfully is staying home today which always is an extra blessing. I will check in later. Love to all.

Thanks Lynn! Those are almost exactly what I ate yesterday. Avocado would have tasted good with them. I didn't pick up on the outer layer of cheese. That's why there wasn't a big egg taste.
@flyingdumbo127 --Mona--these are the ones I ordered. I figured they would go with almost any color clothes I wore-- lol!

I purchased the Go Walk Litely Boat Shoe recently off of Amazon. They are very comfortable.

DD's boyfriend broke up with her last night by sending her a text after she went to bed. She woke up at 3:00 am to go to the bathroom and saw it. Needless to say she was up the rest of the night. She's trying to show that she's okay with it but I know better. I know breaking up with a text is the norm now days but it really ticks me off that he couldn't be man enough to at least call her and do it. >:( He says that she's a nice girl and all but he's just not over his ex. I find I am having a hard time biting my tongue and telling her that I knew months ago that this relationship was going no where but no good would come out of doing that. I'll just be there to listen when she needs to talk.

Good afternoon.

Remnants of Ian coming through. Cold, windy, raining. Glad to stay inside and watch football. Go Ravens! I could even have a fire in the fireplace if we had brought wood to the porch.

Church this morning had a lot of different elements and I enjoyed it. Celebrated diversity and oneness, Spanish Heritage, World Communion, and Wesley Sunday. Wesley Foundation is the Methodist presence on the University of Delaware campus and a student gave the message.

No plans other than football and we may try to watch The Greatest Beer Run Ever on Apple TV.

Yesterday was nice. I now have beautiful toe nails. Always nice to have time with just Sarah and me. Then we got carry out from Texas Roadhouse followed by cake. Tessa wondered if I brought brownies but I said only cake but I would make brownies for when they are here on Friday.

I feel better.
Glad to hear that.
Two weeks from today I will be in Disney World,
Great!
since I am solo
Single rider line. We used that on the past trip and still wound up together.
Longwood Gardens donated 2 tickets.
How nice! If you don't win them, maybe I could meet you there and you could go in with me. I share a 5 person membership with DD so if only I go, I can bring 4 others.
Jim and I have a system. I drive and he delivers. I don't like asking people I don't know, and he is the real people person, so it works well. It also makes him feel good that he can help. Since he had his strokes that has been a struggle for him, feeling useless.
What a great system.
SB giftcard
Ok, couldn't figure out. Starbucks!
So Help Me Todd--I really liked it.
I liked it too. I thought it was 30 minutes though, when it was an hour.
these are the ones I ordered.
I like them.
I know breaking up with a text is the norm now days but it really ticks me off that he couldn't be man enough to at least call her and do it.
Dang, that is rough.

Oh no, your poor DD, Kirby. Keeping her in extra prayer indeed!

Carol, loved worship this morning especially the children singing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," and the Wesley Foundation's speaker who shared her connection The Parable of the Good Samaritan With much love and :grouphug:my sincere thanks to you, dear Carol, along with the rest of our Quacker family for choosing to live as called. I truly pray you and Taz do get to meet! What a wonderful spot Longwood would make for a Quacker meetup. LOL, save me a brownie, please when you next bake them! :)

Quiet afternoon around here. Dad is currently resting. I'm going to get some mail ready for this coming week. I'll check back later.
