@flyingdumbo127 Regarding the patching the filling. Chris had that done a couple of times at the dentist and it worked out well. They typically only do it if it would work well. Chris was happy with the results. Glad you have a dentist you can work with.

I will be honest and say I just skimmed the posts. @Pea-n-Me I hope the antibiotics work well for DH. I am glad Toto can help Grady get through tough times.

Now younger DDIL tested positive for covid. Their kids are still testing negative. I suspect everyone will get covid at one time or another so we just need to live with it. Thankfully in our family we all did well and weren't very ill.

Took my walks today and now just resting. I am very tired today.

Have a nice night.

:hug:Snowysmom and much prayer for your DDIL. Thank you so much for the filling reassurance! I really appreciate it and always, of course, you. Is my description at all accurate as to what they do (I realize you may not remember)? Please, most importantly, get some rest and take care!

It rained on and off most of the day. Now that it's 6:30, the sun is out in full force. Going down to 59 tonite, so may turn the ac off and open a few windows

I got everything done that I wanted to today, and more. Spent part of the afternoon watching the news about the Queen's passing (truthfully the ONLY news I have watched in forever). Very sad indeed, but she lived a long, full life, and was loved by so many.

Dinner was chicken salad sandwiches , fresh tomatoes (garden is running out of them slowly), and corn

Have a nice nite all

@flyingdumbo127 I remembered the name of the procedure for the filling. It is called an inlay. I am not sure what it entails but maybe something is cemented into the broken area on the tooth or a substance put onto the area to harden. I do remember it worked well for Chris.

I have been watching the coverage of the Queen passing. I did not even know she was failing, that is how much news I watch. She was an amazing woman who had a great long life. I think of her being with Philip once more.

It is 53 degrees here so a nice cool morning. It should be up into the 70s today.

Have a good day.

I literally watch no news either. I remember watching some of it when Prince Phillip died, and how sad and lonely she looked then. I know it's possible to die from a broken heart, and I think that some of it contributed to her failing health after that. She will always be The Queen to the world, and was an incredible woman.

Good morning all. Finally a day with no rain in the forecast and temps only low 80's.
I may try and do yardwork today while it's dry out, since they are calling for rain again tomorrow. It never fails. It's Heritage Days this weekend in our little city, and they either get pouring rain, or temps in the high 90's. They even moved it from June till Sept hoping to avoid the heat, and it still doesn't work out a lot of the time.

Other than yardwork, I only have small projects left to be done. I either have to waterproof or paint the shed ramp. I need to put another coat of waterproof on the front steps. I have to see what color Lowes has for indoor outdoor carpet, so we can decide what color to paint the front door. I also need to paint the inside and outside of the back storm door, as the outside does get exposure to the weather (because of the screen) . The front door is totally undercover, so it just needs paint to make it look better, lol

Have a nice day all

I just pre-ordered my new iPhone this morning. I am still using an iPhone 6, which was a hand me down when I got it, so having a brand new phone will be such a treat. I haven’t been able to download the most current MDE app for a couple of years, so needless to say my Disney trips will be much easier. The phone is a birthday gift from my sister and BIL and I have been patiently waiting for a few months to get it. So excited!

Now, back to doing laundry . . . :laundy:

Walking one of the cats. It's still rather grey here, but has stopped actually raining for now, and she was eager to get out.

Woke up too early, but spent the morning pleasantly - watching "Anne of Green Gables, the Continuing Story" (DVD from the library) and drinking coffee, so now I'm feeling back in sync.

No errands that really must be done today, but I may do one over near MIL's just to check on her.

I was torn about The Continuing Story. I enjoyed the program, but it deviated so much from the story in the books that it didn’t seem like part of the same series. I had hoped for more movies, but when Jonathan Crombie passed away that kind of put an end to those hopes. I would have enjoyed seeing Anne and Gilbert raising their children and growing old together.

The "argument" she and my dad had had me laughing.
This had me laughing, sounds like my folks!
Ultimately I think it was a positive experience, thankfully.
That's great to hear. Slow & steady wins the marathon.
EZ Pass Sun Pass - all so crazy!
For what it is worth, we have EZ passes in our vehicles that work in any state (that has EZ pass) and aren't state specific. Unless I misunderstood - do you mean if you have a DE transponder you can only use it in DE? If so, check on that - we use our transponders (MD issued) in several states w/o issue. If I did misunderstand just ignore this
Or maybe just go ahead and buy the Maryland transponder and be done with it.
See above -
you can’t go wrong with a Toyota
I am going to be replacing my smaller SUV w/ a bigger one soon, and I have 3 vehicles I'm looking at, a Toyota Sequoia being one of them. I've never had a Toyota before, although I've never known anyone who had one who wasn't pleased with it. My husband had to order a new truck - the saleskid can't place the actual order until next month, and the truck won't be here until February most likely.
He will look at it again in November. What he said would be the easiest first step would be to patch it. I had never heard of that.
I haven't had that done, but my husband has. And my husband has a deep fear of the dentist, but he said it was a simple easy procedure.
I suspect everyone will get covid at one time or another so we just need to live with it
Me, too.
I just pre-ordered my new iPhone this morning.
Enjoy your new phone!

Good morning one and all. Hope you guys had a good week. Yesterday I took our foster pup up the road to see a specialist. Long story short, we are on the right track and things are progressing well. Plus he's been cleared for aqua therapy, so we may pursue that. Next up: surgery on both eyes for cherry eye. Then, we may be looking at being able to have him up for adoption. Oh - and he's lost 5 more lbs, bringing us to a total of 30 lbs lost! Great news there, and it really is paying off in that he can move so much better. He is now down to 87 lbs, with a rough end goal of 70-80 lbs., still huge for a bulldog, but he is a overall big guy.

We have family obligations this weekend and next, but might try to fit in a trip to Sam's Club on Sunday. I'm a Costco fan, and it's been years since I stepped foot in Sam's club but they had a promo of joining for $45 and getting a $45 credit back - so I figured it what the heck and joined. Even if I just go once and it will pay for itself. I have several hours of mowing to take care of tomorrow before the rumored rain starts up Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Sat. afternoon around 4:30 we have to leave to attend one of the family get togethers. Sunday eldest is coming over to make us fish tacos.

I've got a hair appt. at 2:30 this afternoon, and after that I need to make a stop at the beer store and possibly the grocery store. I'm not sure what dinner will be tonight. Something simple for sure.

Good morning everyone! And welcome to our new posters, it's always nice to meet someone new.

I felt so sad yesterday to hear that Queen Elizabeth had passed away. It's the end of an era that we have become so used to. It will be strange to see Prince Charles, now King Charles or whatever name he will choose, to be up front and center.

One week of preschool down. Things went well Tuesday and Thursday but Wednesday Lou Lou was very upset when I picked her up. She wanted to be in another class where her girl friends are. She was placed in a class that has eight boys and three girls. She only had one friend placed in her class from her classmates in last years class and it's a boy. Now, this little boy was the apple of her eye last year but this year she is gravitating towards girls more and girly things and the boys are not her cup of tea. She will be fine, she makes friends easily and will get along well with the boys but I feel for her.

Lil Joe is doing well in 1st grade. He's happy when he comes home and gives me a great big hug when he walks in the door every day. His grades are good. He he was tested for speech issues and will begin that soon. Just some sounds that he needs help on. DD had the same issues. Lou Lou will probably need some speech therapy too.

Good Friday morning, friends from humid LA,

AuntieMe3, I truly hope we do get some cooling 🌧️tomorrow and that it whisks the humidity away!

Dad is doing :laundy: now followed by Ralph's🛒 I'm very thankful he will be staying home tomorrow and mostly all of Sunday other than a quick trip to Pavilions. He typically goes to Ralph's twice a week and Pavilions once a week. All is quiet around here :)

Thank you so much, Snowysmom:hug:. I’m truly grateful the inlay worked well for Chris. Sounds like nice, crisp Fall morning weather albeit a bit chilly for me which is hard to imagine right now here with the heat. I just remembered. Have you given any more thought to a Fall Fun Day 🍁 with your grandkids? To you and Lynn, I also watch little to no 📺📰

What color are you thinking for your front🚪, Lynn? At one time when I lived in Northern, CA, my apartment door was painted orange while my grandma’s door in another building was painted blue. Is Heritage Days anywhere near Carol and Easyas? Maybe the three of you could meet up that way some time. Small projects are better than too taxiing a project. Remember though, it is Friday. Take it easier🌺

:bday: Fla4Fun! Thank you for joining us. All are so very welcome and we're glad you joined us. Please post any time and indeed about anything you wish to share.

 PollyannaMom. I sometimes find that a change whether it be changing our 🕰️ or a new season and definitely throw me off for a day or so. I also tend to sleep better when it’s cooler. I always smile to imagine you walking your 🐈. Prayers your MIL is doing just fine. Your visit will bring her cheer.

:thanks:so much for your reassurance, Easyas! Simple and quick always works best for me dentist wise. I appreciate both you and Snowysmom sharing similar experiences. I’ll definitely make a simpler question list to bring to my next cleaning appointment. For me, it's medical doctors who I find hard to feel comfortable with at times. This is due to a horrible childhood experience. Dental Fear Central is an online forum your husband might find helpful and reassuring. I have not been active in dental fear central since 2010. At the time, there were two kind dentists who participated along with a smaller group of everyday people like us who shared concerns and experiences with one another. God led me to discover it through a Google search due to my intense fear of the LA shot that I knew would be needed prior to the root canal I would be having done. That was what concerned me rather than the actual root canal procedure itself. I had no clue at that time that there are such things as topical anesthetics both for routine medical needlework and numbing gels for dental work. I am first to admit that I did not take responsibility to share this with a dentist or inquire about options. Honestly that was because I sincerely did not think there were any. How wrong I was. Anyway, it was my hesitation over getting a filling done that led to the tooth later needing a root canal. This is a big reason why I try to remind people of the words of a very kind TMJ doctor who reminded me that I am the one trusting in any doctor or dentist. Not to mention paying them to provide compassionate and professional service. It is not an imposition to openly share concerns and discuss options. I sincerely believe that any professional especially health related needs to be approachable and take on a partnership with their patients type of practice. Okay, done. Best always to you, my friend and your DH, too.

:car:wise until my dad briefly had an inherited Hyundai, which was nothing but trouble from day one, both he, grandma, and myself, were long time Toyota Corolla drivers. We didn't care for the very in your face Toyota salesmen who we last had experiences with, although because he got a discount through his job at that time, dad did get a 2009 Corolla. That car was a mistake to buy because it was part of group of Corollas that had constant recalls! I'm very happy with my older 2016 Nissan Versa and Dad is thrilled with his 2019 Honda Fit. 🙏both you and your husband find and enjoy safe driving in your new🚙's. Thank you always for all the loving care you give to so many dogs.

Big :hug:always to you dear Kirby and to Lou Lou and Lil Joe, too. Proud of them both!

Happy Friday to all. I'll check back later.

I've never had a Toyota before, although I've never known anyone who had one who wasn't pleased with it.
We finally bit the bullet and have been very pleased. One of the hardest parts of putting the kids through college for us turned out to be our car repair bills. :faint: (A old time mechanic I’m close to also said he thinks today’s cars are made to last just as long as the average car loan lasts! I think there could be some merit to that!) It really bothered us because we thought it was a good idea to keep cars that were already paid for, or almost paid for, during those tight years, but the repairs killed us! (Often $2500- 4500 to walk into the repair shop!) We’d read in many places, and heard plenty of stories, that Toyotas are just getting warmed up at 100K, so we bought some gently used ones and so far, so good. My BIL has a Toyota truck that’s at almost 300K miles and still going strong. DD’s bf has a Toyota SUV that’s close to 200K and has some little problems, but nothing major. If those issues are important to you, as they are to me. Good luck with your shopping! The Sequoias seem really nice!

:hug:Pea, sadly it seems as though many of today's products are not intended to have the longer life span of use than their earlier predecessors. I remember going back to a Nissan dealer in 2019 while helping dad do new car shopping. The simpler Versa we had gotten in 2016 was replaced by a fancier version that neither of us liked. We preferred all-around the "old" as in 3 years earlier to the current. Then again, I am "old fashioned" a lot of the time product-wise, preferring often the original or older to the "new and improved." 🙏my friend that you are able to enjoy some time off this weekend!

@flyingdumbo127 I want blue carpet and a darker blue door, but I keep checking Lowes and they keep changing the date as to when the blue will be back in stock. The house is white, and right now has gray shutters and trim, but those will be changed to match whatever color the door ends up being. No, Heritage Days is in Western MD, and @Breezy_Carol Carol and @easyas123 are on the eastern side of the state, so no chance of meeting up.

Temp is only 72 and there is sun and a nice breeze. I just finished mowing the whole lawn,,going to weedwack the few spots that need it in a bit. Gutters are still clear and not many leaves have fallen in them. Hoping the rain tomorrow is heavy enough to wash them all down (as long as no walnuts get stuck in the downspout and plug it up, lol).

Mr L bought a Toyota Camry before we met online (1996), and we drove it until 2017. It had well over 200,000 miles on it, and if it hadn't developed an oil leak that would have been way too expensive to fix, we would still be driving it. We only did routine maintenance, replaced the brakes and the tires, and when it was still fairly new (and under warranty) the catalytic converter had to be replaced. Other than that, it was a very reliable vehicle. I had a Dodge K car, which I inherited from my father when he died, and that was very reliable too. We traded it in for a Dodge Spirit after I moved here. I didn't need something new, as I didn't drive that much anyhow. Kept that till 2002. Never had an issues with it. We want to go and look at a Subaru, haven't decided what model yet, or a Hyundai. People say those are very reliable too. We need something a little bigger for Mr L with all of his issues getting in and out of the Fiesta, as it's too low to the ground for him. Stepson owns a 2021 Toyota Rav, his partner owns a 2021 Toyota (electric something), and they just bought the oldest daughter a 2021 Toyota Camry . With car prices these days, I sure wouldn't want their monthly car payments!

Off to weedwack and then relax. Going to have lasagna for dinner, with garlic bread and a salad. I don't feel like cooking more than that. I have some frozen from the last time I made it, so will just pop it in the oven and let it heat up.

Have a nice afternoon

That’s actually how we wound up making a move at first, Lynn, when my mother could no longer get up into my Jeep!

Good afternoon.

I went this morning for routine fasting bloodwork before a PCP visit in 2 weeks. Then came home and did the riding mower in the front yard. Then we went to CFA for lunch before starting on the back. I get the easy job of riding and DH does the slope and push mower.

Last night we went to Longwood and it was very pleasant and relaxing.

Sad news about 2 miles from us. There was a domestic incident with a shooting that involved 2 adults and 3 children being shot dead in a murder/suicide. A nice neighborhood. Names not released yet.

@fla4fun :welcome: And after just coming home from WDW, I can't imagine not having a smart phone. In fact, DH bought a new one for the trip.

Just some sounds that he needs help on.
Sounds like DS. I think it was kindergarten when DS was identified for speech therapy. He mixed up sounds - Y and L. Took 1-2 sessions when he said "I didn''t know that's how you wanted me to say them." LOL But, that identified him as special Ed so he could get OT in 4th grade for handwriting due to a hand/eye coordination thing. Special Ed teacher said at DS's graduation when he was valedictorian, that he was the only Spec Ed student she had to achieve that.

Re: Toyotoas, we've had several in my extended families and were all good. I also loved my Saturn and like my current Honda CRV.

Thanks, Lynn. I hope you soon get your new blue door. Grandma's old Corolla which became mine after she had already owned it for 12 years lasted for another 14 years! Admittedly, dad and I should have absolutely let it go MUCH sooner than we did. It wasn't completely safe anymore to drive. Plus, where it didn't matter much when I lived in a much cooler area of NorCal, having a non-working AC (couldn't be properly fixed) was a huge deal here! We were very grateful God used it to provide our family with many a safe and I pray serving as well 🚗trip in it. May weed wacking go quickly!

:grouphug:on your mom, Pea.

:hug:Carol and prayers the bloodwork went easily, and your upcoming doctor's visit will go very well, too. Thank you for bringing back memories of a preschooler I once knew. He would say, "Luh-l-oh" for "yellow" and for a word with an "ar" in the middle such as "cart," he pronounced it "K-ai-t." Not quite "kite," but along those lines. He would now be 19! Time sure does fly. And a fun universal it seemed preschooler share: most all of the young kiddos called "sunscreen" "sun cream." Sometimes I ended up doing that too. Such tragic news indeed. 🙏for all and your community as well.

It's super humid here yet dry at the same time. Prayers you are keeping hydrated and cool, AuntieMe3! Dad also lowered the temperature of our fridge because we both noticed items are not as cool or as solid (applesauce) as they normally are. The power company must have lowered cooling rates in an attempt to conserve energy. This same thing happened the last time we had a major heatwave. Stay well, my dear friends and have a great rest of the afternoon.
