Good early morning, everyone!

I've had my day's adventure already. Had to have a carbon monoxide check done because an alarm was acting strangely.

Turns out it was just old, so thankful for that! - The newer ones are working fine, and the fireman's portable detector found nothing wrong.

But I'm definitely wide awake now instead of slowly easing into the day.

Good morning all. Woke with a headache, only to look out the window and see it was dumping down rain. That explains my headache. I left the windows open all night instead of just turning the ac back on.

Glad I have nothing to do outside today, and not much inside. I was just making my 'fall cleaning' list, and it sure feels like I just finished Spring and Summer cleaning, lol

We made it through the first 3 episodes of Ring Of Power last night. Took me about 1 1/2 episodes to get into it enough to start to enjoy it. I think we are going to try Wheel of Time next, have any Quackers seen that?

SIL brought us fresh corn, squash and cantaloupes yesterday and we sat and talked for about an hour. She has to drive to Morgantown again today for her MRI appt. And she told me that she fell in their house Fri just before leaving for Morgantown for niece's Drs appt. Said she caught her foot on a plastic bag that was in the hallway (along with the other 20 or so bags..they never put anything away). She went to the ER there, and asked for a CT scan of her head to make sure she didn't have a brain bleed. They looked at her like she was nuts. She said she was there from 11 am until almost 7 pm. They also did xrays of her shoulder and hip, since she landed on her side after hitting her head on 2 40-lb buckets of litter. If they didn't leave things all over the house to trip on (literally), she wouldn't be falling like that.

Defrosting some bone in chicken breasts for dinner tonite. Trying to decide if I want to put them in the crockpot with bbq sauce, or cook them in the oven after marinating them in McCormicks baja citrus marinade (leaning towards that one).

Today's picture won't be DIS related, but since it's Sept 11, I felt it was appropriate. So many people lost their lives that day, hard to believe it was 21 years ago. God rest all those pour souls. Never forget~~~

Good morning.

Supposed to get rain today and I'm hoping it doesn't rain out a craft show that was supposed to go on near me. I was hoping to get a couple of wreaths for my door for Halloween and the Fall.

My dad's memory issues are driving my mom nuts when it comes to bills BUT I was able to help her in an unexpected way. Dad likes to get the mail but when he puts things down, they disappear, and he can't remember what he did with them. There was a bill from Bank of America that made no sense because she supposedly had a huge credit. When she tried to straighten it out the person from AAA Financial (Bank of America) refused to talk to mom, and then dad, because she was helping him. She told them he has dementia but it didn't help. She called back and found out dad has been paying on a card from 2011 that they don't even have anymore, and it was way past the expiration date. She straightened it out and cancelled the card. I asked her if there were any points attached to it. AAA Cards earn points with each purchase. She had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Since the cards are being switched to a different bank, I stayed with her to help her when she called. She was confused by the computerized menu, honestly, they can confuse anyone. Finally got someone to talk to that was human and she is getting a check for $708.64 in the mail. She would have lost all that money if dad wasn't so forgetful.

We are slowly trying to get back to normal at church and decided to have our Holiday Tea fund raiser this year. This means I need to seek donations for the chance table. We raise a couple thousand dollars each year with this so it will be nice to get back into it. Mom was supposed to make me some table runners/centerpieces for my table and I bought some material for it. Each piece of fabric actually is enough for 2 runners so I told mom that I am donating the other half for her to make runners to chance off. That should give us 4 for the chance table as I bought a Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, and a bumblebee material. I actually felt good about it when I left.

My Wyatt is playing football this year and had his 1st game yesterday. He plays defense and quarterback. While i was there he had several solo tackles and several he assisted on. He did OK at quarterback too but left the game for a bit when he was tackled by the neck. He said it hurt and my daughter was taking no chances. He felt better for the second half, but I left before that. I had a haircut appointment and then the meeting at my mom's. Overall, a great day.

Today is church, the craft show if it is happening and then off to my sons for the fall tradition every Sunday of football. I would love to stay home; I'm not rooting for the home team again this year and my son isn't happy about that. I do get a chance to see LJ though so that will be nice. He already loves football. According to my grandson he gets his football, growls, bites it and then throws it. They can't wait til he is old enough to play. I prefer soccer but I didn't win with my son or grandsons so I will go and support them, taking pictures.

Hope you all have a great day.

out the person from AAA Financial (Bank of America)

I got my letter from AAA not long ago. Either BOA is ditching AAA or AAA is ditching BOA and moving to Commenity Bank.

Not a fan of either but I could deal with BOA a bit. Won't continue with Commenity. Their interface pretty much guarantees you will never speak to a human if customer service is needed. The changes occur in October. I have a few points which would transfer to Commenity, but I'll just let them go. Not enough to cash out. No loss for me but happy you were able to get your mother's money sent.

One thing I've learned is earning and burning is best with most of these rewards programs. They will change and devalue if you keep them too long.

Much love and thanks to all who serve and have served our country this day especially but always. As Lynn said, God rest the souls of all who were lost this day 21 years ago, I give Him added praise and thanks for holding them closer to His heart right now in restoration and health along with bringing added peace to their families and friends. May indeed we never forget and live each day doing our best to spread joyous kind and compassionate peace to all as He has also asked us to and those who were lost trust us as well, to do.

:grouphug:Lynn, I think your cleaning lists for years to come were completed long ago! Please feel better and have a good day. Enjoy some Hawaii 5-0 or another show that brings you cheer to watch 📺Prayers continuing for your SIL.

Thank you, Taz🌼for being of kind and loving help to your parents. Dementia is heartbreaking indeed. Grandma was never officially diagnosed with it (sadly she was past the point of being able to be truly evaluated) but definitely had it. I had pretty much taken over her finances and medication ordering, etc. Not an easy thing to do at all. I do well remember how thankful she was one time to have discovered a found birthday check she had mistakenly tossed. We're here, my friend, and care:hug: Thank you also for all you do at church. I'd love to be able to help you with the show. Prayers for Wyatt to enjoy a safe and fun 🏈 season.

:hug:Judique, and how right on you are. It is so sad and frustrating, too, at how challenging it often is these days to talk to a real person! I learned near the start of the pandemic the hard way to pay attention to any bank cards as they indeed can change without notice. I had a BOA credit card of many years. Once Covid came, I stopped using it because I wasn't able to go inside a BOA to make a payment and dad couldn't do that for me. Plus, we had a joint card to use. Unbeknownst to me, the card I had, had become a rewards card and had earned a small amount. Ended up losing a bit but being able to thankfully get a $20 or so reward which we were most grateful. We know have a joint card through a mutual account that also gives rewards. We almost have $100 which we break up usually into 4 store gift cards to spread out the savings. Works well for us.

Dad made our fridge yesterday later afternoon. We are so thankful extra to God that indeed this morning it's working better. grateful to not at the moment need to rush out to hastily purchase a new one and waste the food in it. Dad will be going anyway to Best Buy on Wednesday (if not sooner) and will be looking at what fridges they have in store. We're definitely not going to wait until this one does go out before getting a replacement! Blessing to be able to try and plan ahead a bit for that.

Happy Sunday everyone. I'll check back later.

Dinner is done, it was really good. Had the chicken marinated in Baja Citrus marinade, with a baked potato and cranberry sauce.

I heard noise outside earlier and looked out to find the neighbor cutting down the grape arbor that fell over the other day. I had told him to wait till the grapes dried up and the bees were gone, but he just wanted to get it done. He took the wood from it and raked all the vines and threw them in the corner of the garden to dry up so I can burn them.
I went next door and asked the wife if they could use the cord and a half of wood we have in the cellar. We are never going to use the wood stove again..it's just too much work for me. And I want that space back. One whole wall of the cellar is full of dry, cut firewood, and I want to be able to move stuff around down there. One son and 2 grandsons are going to bring their truck over Wed. afternoon and move it.
Whoever dug our cellar out..put a door down there,,but it goes nowhere except what we call the mystery room, all that's in there is dirt and the plumbing from the master bath. If they were going to do all that work,,not keep going through that room and put a door leading outside? So I have to take the screen out of one window and they will have to throw it out the window and then stack it in the truck. They only burn wood, so it will help them out. They helped us out when Mr L got laid off in 2002 and gave us some wood so we will be even.
I am officially a football widow again starting today. Geez..4 games today, 1 tomorrow, 1 Thursday and now Mr L finds out that Amazon Prime is going to cover other games. I will never get to watch what I want on the weekends, lol

SIL's MRI went fine. She said she slept through it, lol.

Have a nice evening all

I've seen the first season of Wheel of Time and liked it. I've read the whole Wheel of Time book series and enjoyed it. The show moves at a faster pace and is not necessarily in the same order as the books but that's okay.

When we built our house we built the electrical, water and septic to accommodate a MIL quarters out back separate from our house. We had planned on DH's mother to move in when we were done but she decided to live with DH's younger sister instead. We did not build the little apartment and things worked out better in the long run. She would have been hard to live with so close.

Lou Lou had her first soccer game of the season yesterday morning. She loved running chasing the ball. She actually ran with the ball a time or two. Lil Joe made a friend and spent most of the game playing with him. One time during the game, Lil Joe and his new friend were wrestling standing up if that makes sense. Lou Lou was on the field and glanced their way. She ran off the field and took off towards them to stand up for her brother. She thought they were fighting and wanted to take on the other boy. It was so cute! DD had to run over and explain before Lou Lou got involved.

After the game we went to the Dallas Zoo. The weather was perfect and the crowds light. We wore ourselves out!

I'm still a little tired. It's so nice outside, in the lower 80's with a good breeze. We're expecting low humidity and no rain over the next week.

Thanks, Taz! I just came to check on our thread. 🙏you enjoyed ⛪today.

:hug:Lynn. I'm sorry, lol🏈 Sorry not to live closer to you for many reasons, of course. Including that I would absolutely enjoy getting together with you some Sunday afternoons to watch something we both would enjoy seeing while Mr. L enjoyed his football. God Bless you and your neighbors. warms my heart always to read stories of people caring for one another in kindness especially, extra, today.

I hope Lou Lou had a blast playing⚽. Kirby! So thankful she is able to get out and do that. Much prayer she befriends her teammates, too. God Bless her and Lil Joe, of course, too. Precious kiddos! LOL, I just really noticed the 🦒What a truly great and fun photo!

🙏 and extra love to you, Frog from me and the rest of your Quacker Family! Thinking of you🕊️

Quiet and warm at 87 and humid, Sunday here. Dad went to 99 and Pavilion's this morning. Tomorrow will be a bigger trip including to a Dollar Tree and Target. Carol, I loved today's online worship service. I'm PM-ing you, my friend:flower3:

Evening all!

@lynxstch You can join my husband in the widow penalty box. I get NFL Sunday Ticket, so I can watch RedZone (and thus all the Broncos games) on Sunday.

It's been warm and humid here; Friday night, we had a tornado warning for our area; nothing came from it...it just interrupted our viewing of "Nope" on Amazon. I made tacos for lunch, and we were having leftovers for dinner, but DH decided he needed pizza, so I ordered DS a pepperoni, and DH and I a chicken Hawaiian to share. :rolleyes2 I picked up an order at Kohls and Target yesterday; and I hit Publix today for fresh stuff for the week. DH's company is having a bake-off in a few weeks, and he's asked me to make my pumpkin whoopie pie cookies, so I had to pick up the stuff for those.

Tomorrow I have to mow and weedwack the backyard. Tomorrow for dinner, we are having the leftovers we didn't have tonight, plus a veggie tray, with tzatiki and sour cream onion dips, and some hummus with flatbread crisps. I don't want to have to cook, so I can just watch the Broncos game; DS will be cleaning up.

After going over things with the girls, we are moving our trip to see the grandkids until the first two weeks of January. The girls just have so much going on during the three weeks we can go, between school stuff, or work stuff, or things with their inlaws, we just postponed it. We are going to get a rental car; drive to Pendleton and spend a week, then drive to Omaha and spend 4 or 5 days, then drive home; DH has his company's annual "kick off" on the 20th, so he has to be back by the 19th. We're leaving early, and spending New Years Eve in either Memphis or New Orleans, depending on which way we decide to drive.

Today is SoIL#2's birthday (30th). He celebrated yesterday; when he became an adult, he decided to not celebrate on his actual birthday, as it felt wrong to celebrate on this day. I understand, as my birthday falls on a day that is very popular with stoners (and a school shooting in Colorado); DS and SoIL#1 share a birthday, where they celebrate either early or later, that had another mass shooting (Vegas) on it.

@flyingdumbo127 Shouldn't your landlord be the one replacing/fixing your fridge? If you're renting, that's usually the case, that the landlord is responsible for the appliances that they own there.

As it's time for pizza, I'm outta here. Catch y'all later.

:grouphug:B&B, how cool that you enjoy watching 🏈I hope the Broncos have a good season. The landlord doesn't do much of anything :( Besides, dad is pretty sure he brought our old fridge from our condemned (earthquake) apartment with him when he moved in because this apartment didn't come with one. He knows he bought this current fridge 8 years later after the old one died. We're just as always so grateful to God for a safe home, roof period. Happy Birthday to your SIL and prayers your upcoming family trip will go safely and be a lot of fun, too.

I remember asking this in years past and our discussing how sadly the quality of Bed, Bath, an Beyond's Jersey sheets have sure gone way down. The last sets we bought pre pandemic ended up going right back to the store after 1 wash because they already showed visible signs of pilling! Thankfully, we did get a full refund. We would appreciate any current, truly soft and smooth jersey sheet recommendations. :thanks:

Have a great evening and sweet dreams, friends🌠

Good Monday, welcome to another week. It was sunny earlier, now it's clouded over again. They say showers soon, followed by t storms this afternoon. I have never seen this much rain here over the summer and early Sept months as long as I have been here. The garden is just about done..still a few batches of tomatoes to pick, but to tell the truth, we are pretty much sick of tomatoes by now, lol.

Tonite is Emmy night. Mr L hates it, it's the one awards show I wait for all year, along with the CMT's which I think are tomorrow night. Even though I don't watch any of the cable shows that are nominated for Emmy's, I love watching the fashion. He can watch football if he wants (along with @Bianca and Bernard -lol). His beloved Packers lost yesterday , as did my Patriots, who I swear cannot seem to play anymore without Brady. At least the Buc's won last night. Those are the only 2 teams I follow at all. Being a former New Englander, it's hard not to still route for the home team, and since Brady moved to FL, I have to root for him there too

No plans for the day. If it's going to rain all day, it's a good day for me to get in the cellar, move everything out of the way of the giant wood racks, and start throwing more stuff out. I still have shelves full of 'pandemic' supplies. I haven't bought toilet paper in over a year, lol. I do need to stock back up on paper towels, kleenex, and hand sanitizer and clorox wipes for the winter though.

@Kirby LOL at LouLou running to stick up for her brother,,that was too cute. And such an adorable pic,,thanks for sharing!

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you can find a new fridge if you need one. Do they have Lowe's or Home Depot's in LA? I think prices (and choices) would be much better at either of those than at a Best Buy.

Have a nice morning all

Easyas, I know nothing about elevators. But perhaps some type of lift could be put in as needed. At church we had an ancient chair lift. You could also look into whether adding an elevator to your existing space is possible
Admittedly I don't know much about them either! When we decided to put the installation off we did make sure we had the space to retrofit one in later if the need arose. Lots of companies around that install them inside or out.
Feels like Fall outside
Not quite yet here - it was like being slapped with a wet mop this AM!!! BUT the weather forecast for the rest of this week is looking good and I'm really hoping to turn the AC off and air out the house. rain X 3 dogs = a wet dog smell all thru the house!
I did the same $45 get $45 in the last year with Sam's
So I went to our "local" Sam's club and my feelings were just meh about it. I used up my $45 credit (and then some...) on basics such as tp & paper towels and whatnot. I think I'm going to stick to the Costco I frequent - both the stores are about the same distance from me anyway. I've never used the gas stations at either place - I know the one up at the Costco is always mobbed! Do you need a Costco cc to use it, or just a membership card?
Hi! We have ac turned off as well, and it’s so refreshing. I am feeling good after carpal tunnel procedure and on Wednesday, I can remove bandage and see what it looks like. I had no problems sleeping due to procedure. I noticed no pain. Very grateful!
Glad it worked out for you!
We made it through the first 3 episodes of Ring Of Power last night.
I need to watch this.
Dad will be going anyway to Best Buy on Wednesday (if not sooner) and will be looking at what fridges they have in store.

Flyingdumbo - I agree w/ Lynn. You guys should check out Lowes or Home Depot at a minimum, beyond Best Buy. You might find a better deal, they'll deliver & install if you need and you might find one on clearance or marked down due to a blemish/scratch/dent that you'll hardly notice and doesn't diminish the quality of the item.
Not quite caught up reading, but have to leave to take care of DS. His stomach thing is acting up again. Please send prayers/pixie dust/whatever is your thing. Thanks!
Hope he's feeling better soon -

Well, good morning everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. First of three weekends in a row w/ family obligations done for us. Nice, rainy day yesterday which was good. Weather is looking fantabulous this week, cool enough to cut the AC, dry & sunny so I can continue with cutting the fields, pleasant evenings. Husband is working at Ft. Belvoir tomorrow & Wednesday, and he'll stay over there Tuesday night. Hunting season has started around here, so our walk in cooler in the upper barn has been started up. First few deer go to some people we know on a limited income who we get it processed for, and the elderly gentlemen who allows husband & our kids & nephew to hunt his property - my husband has one processed for him, and usually another for his church to pass out. After that we'll see.

I'm only on the road one day this week, Thursday. We have begun the process of demo on the old barn. Contemplating keeping the old milk house intact and turning it into either a guest house - which we don't really need - or a potting shed or something??? We will have to see if it survives the rest of the barn & silo coming down around it before I can plan anything extra.

No idea what is for supper this evening. Possibly grilled chicken breast.

Good Morning, friends. Sending a bright 🌼to all with love,

:hug:Snowysmom, ☁️ weather sounds like a good day to spend part of being cozy. Do you enjoy hot chocolate like I do? If so, make some to watch with a fun movie. Prayers you do have a good Monday.

:hug:Lynn, I admit to not being either a 🏈or Emmy📺fan. It might be different if I truly watched and enjoyed a lot of daytime TV but I don't. I do remember years ago for a brief time enjoying the Oscars that particular year only because I had actually seen at least 3 or 4 of the movies. I do hope both Mr. L's and your own football teams do well this season and that an actor or show who you are rooting for to get an Emmy will. We do have a Home Depot a good 20 minutes away depending on traffic. The closest Lowes is near the closest Walmart (same shopping area in Burbank) almost an hour away. Home Depot is where our two wall AC's came from. Best Buy is handy because they are located around the corner from Target only a 5 or so minute drive away. Good tip to also look at Home Depot. Dad is just going to Best Buy on Wednesday anyway to ask about wireless headphones and while he's there will begin looking at fridges. Love your ::MickeyMomorning picture. It reminds me of how adorable ::MinnieMo's house was a DL. It was a lot of fun to walk through. At the end, a CM would take your group's picture with Minnie in her flower garden. Dad and I were hoping to do that again one day and I had also thought that would make for a great Quacker picture spot God-willing as well, one fun day, but sadly I think Toon Town (which I didn't care for otherwise) is being changed at DL. I don't know whether the character houses (Mickey's I thought was creepy and not at all fun or cute because it was dark and dank) will still be there. i hope so.

:grouphug:PollyannaMom and much 🙏for your DS and, of course, you, as well, mom! We're here and so very much care, my friend. Forgive me for not saying the other day (I remembered this last night when giving nightly thanks to God for my Quacker family) that I absolutely gave extra thanks to God that you didn't experience a true carbon monoxide emergency! Stay safe all-around!

You were wise to plan ahead for possible elevator need, Easyas:hug: Prayers for safe travels and a good week, too.

Dad is soon off on a longer shopping trip to one area about 20-25 minutes away that has multiple stores he wants to go to in the same strip mall including Dollar Tree and Target. I'm going to get some mail ready and make a few needed phone calls. I'll check back later. Have a good day, everyone!

Did you know that you can buy appliances on Amazon, too? Easy to shop around if you know what you’re looking for. We have to get a small refrigerator, too, for the space we have, so that makes it relatively easy to shop since there are so few options in that size. I also sometimes visit somewhere like Lowe’s to pick out what I want, but wait until they have a sale, then order it then. You can also look on Craigslist sometimes people are remodeling and such but that’s a little riskier. We got our current dishwasher that way and it’s been great. It came from the kitchen of a pool house that was barely used and was exactly what I’d been looking for. Paid $100 instead of $700-800. The other thing you might want to do, Mona, is just vacuum out the bottom really well and make sure that nothing is blocking the vents inside the fridge, as air needs to circulate. You can google for other ideas, too. So many shares for fixing things online now.

@PollyannaMom Prayers said for your son!

DH and I had a nice birthday weekend. We took DH out for lunch one day, and we had breakfast out on my day at a favorite place, then we went to an outdoor museum which was really nice and a perfect day. Also spent time outside with the dogs. I love the weather this time of year! It would’ve been Mom’s bday, too, we always celebrated together. But we thought of her and shared some stories, etc.

Enjoy the day! 🐥

Have arrived safely in Maine, and DS is doing OK. Thank you all for the prayers and well-wishes!

It seems to have been related to an allergic reaction. - He ate something that he didn't realize had scallops in it. (Ever since he was born, scallops have made me violently ill, and I had previously loved them, so we always figured he was allergic, and that it had somehow affected me as well.)

Anyway, he got dehydrated. His roommates took him to the ER and he had fluids and some medicine and is feeling a lot better.

:thanks:Pea and I'm so glad you and your DH enjoyed a :bday:weekend. We do know most anything can be ordered on Amazon lol. For a fridge, we are old fashioned and would prefer to see it in person. Great suggestion though and I appreciate it and always dear you!

Praise God! PollyannaMom:grouphug:and 🙏 for a quick recovery for your DS. Fluids are so crucial all-around! I well remember having to remind kids at church to drink more water. Sometimes people of all ages get so caught up in activity that it's easy to forget. LOL, this where my drinking water daily like a 🐳is so handy.
