Enjoy your doors! Seems like a little thing (on my end) but I am struggling with doors as well. I have french doors on the back from my kitchen to the deck. Dang Dog keeps ripping the seal strip (I don't know if it has a real name) between the doors, by scratching at it to get in when he's outside. Last time I bought the wrong one and it didn't seal correctly, but that didn't matter as DangDog tore it up quickly. We've started just replacing the spot he makes a tear. But, when he tears it any number of bugs could get in. Imagine me taping my door to keep mosquitos out until I can get to Lowes or HD.

Then there is the front door. Because my house is old, and it has a glass paned original door, I've wanted to keep this original door. I have a full glass double paned storm door that has been excellent. (Try finding a double paned storm door - few and far between). The problem is the handle. I was able to get a replacement from Anderson a few years ago, but it seems to have stripped out and the lever won't stay on. Add that nuisance to my very old door, door frame and limited entrance space and I'm looking at major bucks to upgrade. What I truly want is repair that will last but not sure that's going to happen.

I hear you on the front door. Older house here also. The one on ours is the original door,,not full glass, but paned glass. And it has indeed been a pain when trying to clean it. And the inner door has a window towards the top. But they are ancient and I'm tired of dealing with them. I love the new back door, can't wait to see the storm door on it,,and I really can't wait to see both new ones in the front. The new storm door in the front didn't come with a handle..had to buy one..so I picked one I really wanted. At least I know I can change it if need be. We had a cat that did the same as your dog with the seal strip on the back door. We don't have that cat anymore, and the new door has only a small strip built into the bottom of the door. That sucker isn't going to leak air, or let bugs in anytime, lol

Good morning all. Another gorgeous day on tap, temp of 80 with full sun and a nice breeze. Just picked more tomatoes,,especially cherry ones, no wonder they call them sweet million, lol. SIL and Niece told me they were going to the farmers market to buy tomatoes,, I asked her if she was crazy. I told her 10x to come here and get some. I give them to the neighbor, we eat as many as we can, and still have them coming out of our ears. Why on earth would she be going and paying for them? LOL!
Even though I am still tired (I think I was in bed a whole 5 minutes before falling asleep last nite, and didn't move from when I went to bed at 9:15 until 6:10 this morning. Even though I'm not counting on getting the other doors in today, I wish he would come so we could get them all done and over with. But he's got so many projects for people that he's trying to get done before his surgery, I can't expect him to do mine first. He still has to call the gutter guy and make an appt to get him out here to pump out new gutters while the handyman and his brother install them.
Already stripped and remade the bed, sheets are in the wash. Just replaced the kitchen spray again. I will give Moen props. The sink and sprayer have a lifetime warranty. We bought it in 2015. The sprayer design on this one is great,,you just snap it in under the sink to a quick connect,,but the sprayer itself sucks. I have had them leak, had the hose come apart from the handle etc. I call and they just send me a new one (which they charge $59 for on their site? Yikes). This is the fourth time since 2015 I have had to have them replace it. I get this big box yesterday..inside was 3 sprayers, and 3 hose guides,,lol! That should hold me for about 6 years.

@flyingdumbo127 --To answer your question as to why I was carrying doors. The doors were out in the back shed, the guy can't lift them by himself with his neck issues. Mr L certainly can't go outside to do it. So it was me or noone. I don't know why he didn't bring his brother to help him, but at least we only had to move that one door a million times. Storm doors will only have to be moved once, and the new inside door will have to be moved from the shed once. If it needs to be moved to install it, there are no steps like there were in the back, so he can just rest it against the porch wall. We have a wrap around porch in the front.

Have a nice morning all,,enjoy the day!

Good Morning!

Another beautiful day.

DH is out weed whacking. I am doing laundry and all the little 10 minute jobs, like bill paying and email replies, that I have been postponing.

Did manage to snap a hummingbird pic at the Rose of Sharon:
I keep wanting to take a picture of ours, or the goldfinches, but they just won't cooperate.
In addition to that I'm glued to news media.
I am not glued to it, like DH, but watch enough. Interesting, historic stuff. BTW, DS and DDIL both work in SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), so I find this interesting on that level.

Edited : I wish my ticker would update. It's right when I go into my profile but doesn't update here. should say 5 days, not that I am counting.

:grouphug:Judique, how frustrating. This apartment building is over 60 years old and as I have previously shared, has not been well maintained over the many years. Our bathroom 🚪 has had to be sanded a few times. This door definitely expands and shrinks as does our front door according to the weather. Prayers you are able to replace/repair your doors that are in need of help. Just say your later post. Much prayer on healing from the poison oak.

I love your hummingbird picture this morning all the more, dear PollyannaMom. The bird, face toward Heaven, wings open, looks to me as though he is saying, "Here I am, Lord. Send me." The bird is definitely appreciating this day of life he has been given. I hope seeing it brought you and your 🐈crew joy.

:grouphug:Lynn. Please no 🚪lifting today, my friend. You know I was just concerned about you!
Happy closer to trip, countdown, dear Carol :mickeyjum

I had such a wonderful and LONG conversation last night with my friend Barbara (not Ann, just plain Barbara, lol). great to catch up. She is the local friend of mine who along with a friend of hers, volunteer each year in different ways for Relay for Life. One year, God-willing I will be beyond blessed to help them in person. Will, of course, invite dad to join us and hope he does. Meantime, I will be able to directly give Barbara a small contribution when she is out my way for a dental appointment next month. I do not want to go through the American Cancer Society because I neither want the recognition nor I admit the solicitations. Simply would like in a teeny way to be a part of this year's Relay. God has graced me with being able to do that.

As a FYI, so this won't happen to any of you, be very careful when stocking up on anything perishable. Dad and I enjoy sharing at lunchtime daily a bowl of Campbell's Chicken Broth When Covid first hit, this was one of the products that no one had. Thankfully, these days, it is easy to find just at a shocking almost $2 price! The first shelf of our small three shelf bookcase held cans of this soup. When we first began stockpiling, we started storing them, left to right. Over time, we forgot about that, and you can guess what happened :( Yep, any time we needed more cans of soup in the kitchen, I would grab them from the right side (thus taking cans dad had recently bought) and ignoring the older cans on the left side.

Yesterday evening, after scoring the less than $10 for 20 cans of soup on Amazon deal, I took ALL the cans of soup we had off the top shelf and put them into our card table. The 20 new cans, of course, were (and will still be) the last cans we buy until we are down to a dozen or so total cans left. Thank God, as I said, at least right now, this product is easily available. I carefully turned over each can check their expiration date intending to start using the oldest cans first. I should have done this 6 months ago! 19 of our cans have expired. 18 of them back in early March and 1 in February. Yes, we know that maybe the soup is still okay to use. But we don't feel comfortable trying it to find out. What truly breaks my heart is that unless we can somehow find some way of donating it, all this soup will literally be tossed. We will make a few phone calls on Monday before doing anything.

Do me a huge favor and don't let this same thing happen to you! I have now labeled each row of soup with a taped-on piece of paper indicting expiration date and will diligently use from oldest to latest. Simple but clear way of keeping track. I have thought about getting a label maker. I used to use one at church when I was in charge of organizing choir music. Those gadgets are expensive and then much like printer ink, the refill cartridges of tape often cost more than the dispenser did initially! Free paper and tape we already have will work just fine! :)

Enjoy the day, friends. I will come back later.

Also, DH was taking out his contacts last night and somehow managed to scratch his eye pretty bad; we ended up at the ER, so they could rinse it, put numbing drops in it, and get a couple of prescriptions (erythromycin and moxifloxacin). Can't risk even a scratched eyeball with a diabetic transplant patient!
That is so painful! I had my cornea scratched while in the optometrist/opthalmologist's office when we lived in Newport, RI. Dr. was fitting different lenses trying to figure out what would work best. At some point 'something' got in my eye and it became very irritated. Dr. said he thought it came from the vial the lens was in but wasn't sure. Anyway, long story short, he treated me and told me to call if the pain was worse. He ended up meeting my husband and I at his office around midnite. I had to wear an eye patch until it healed and this coincided with a military ball, which we attended, me in a gown and an eye patch. Because of my volunteer work at the time I was included as a guest at several events.
I am not glued to it, like DH, but watch enough. Interesting, historic stuff. BTW, DS and DDIL both work in SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), so I find this interesting on that level.
You put your finger on my interest - historical significance. We've lived through quite a few events in our lifetime, such as this, plus 9/11, multiple wars, man walks on the moon, Columbia tragedy just of the top of my head. I bet this is really interesting for your son and DDIL.

Golly, it's almost noon, I feel like I have wasted the morning away but I've got two loads of laundry in the washer/dryer and have emptied the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen. DH made his taquitos for breakfast this morning and there is always a big cleanup even when he cooks outside. 😄

Tried a new recipe last night, Ruth's Slow Cooker Chicken. It was okay, DH said he would eat it again but I've decided that I'm going to let that recipe go. I got it out of a crockpot cookbook that had belonged to DH's sister. The chicken is served over egg noodles and I realized that I really just liked eating the noodles more than the chicken.
My oldest is still struggling and insists she isn't going next week. My oldest son is also dreading it. My younger two are fine with it.
Continued prayers for you and your family.
Good news, the hair dye on my skin is gone !!!! My hairdresser said to use hand sanitizer and after some scrubbing, it came off.
It's amazing how products can be used for multiple things, not just what they were made for.

Gnats have been coming in and dying in my kitchen sink. Don't know where they are coming from but there's usually 5 - 10 in there each morning.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Happy Saturday all.

Another hot day in the desert....blah...at least we stay nice and cool in the AC. Thankful DD has started paying the electric bill during the summer...lol

I have not been sleeping well this week. A couple nights it been the dog not sleeping. He keeps wanting to be let outside. I could just leave him out there but then he just lays in the grass barking at nothing and that keeps me awake too. So as soon as I realized he isn't going to the bathroom, I have to call him back in.
The rest of the time, I've just been restless.

I started working on decluttering my bedroom yesterday. I'm in the "it gets worse before it gets better" stage. LoL. It feels so overwhelming. Our room is the catch all, so every time ive decluttered and organized other spaces in the house, things i didnt know what to do with but wanted to keep ended up in out bedroom. I took a break to make a late dinner for myself and forgot to get back in there after so when I went to get into bed last night, I had to clean up the mess I had on the bed. I'm getting rid of soo many clothes I haven't worn in forever.

Need to keep working on it today but I feel like a little kid....I don't wanna clean my room anymore...

Hope you all have a nice day today.

Yikes, I'm sorry, Judique :hug:what a painful experience! Absolutely much continued prayer B&B for your DH.

Kirby:hug: I love how you said that. Great reminder to be creative at times with products! Now, I am trying to think of what items we may use in a way that perhaps they were not intended by the manufacturer. This makes a great QOTD! Thank you, both Kirby and Footballmouse!

Take a lunch break, AuntieMe3! :)

QOTD, Saturday, August 12th: What products do you find uses for in a fun or creative way?

QOTD: This was a challenge for me to answer until I went into the bathroom. Dad uses the bar on one of the sliding shower doors to hang his towel and washcloth. There is one small towel bar close to the bathtub where I hang my own towel and washcloth. The problem is this bar is not wide enough to allow my washcloth once used to be spread out to dry. Finally, occurred to me, only a couple of years ago that a very easy solution was to use a plastic hanger for my washcloth after I use it each night. Works perfectly and best of all was free. As a more fun thing, I do use a half size 13 section accordion file folder for stickers! For example, one section has Scripture stickers while another section has birthday stickers. How about each of you? :)

Dad is thankfully home, safely from an earlier morning trip to a Ralph's about 20 or 25 minutes from us where he got Kroger whipped cream cheese plus a wonderful deal on 3 Edge Shaving Creams for 99 Cents each! Ralph's advertised that this last Wednesday for the week and our closer two Ralph's did not have it. Amazon brought out soup. Thankfully they all expire in 2024. I finished labeling each row of 2 cans so it's easy to know which cans to use first. We will call around on Monday to see if we can possibly find some way the expired cans of soup can be put to use.

Keep cool, dear friends and have a good rest of the afternoon.

It is so nice outside...81 degrees, nice breeze. All you hear is mowers going,,glad mine is not one of them. Guy next door (good neighbors), did theirs yesterday. I just went out to feed the cats and found 2 good size zucchini on one of the chairs outside the door..I play tomato fairy and they play squash fairy, lol. Too funny. They still have them coming out of their ears,,we don't. All the rain we had made mine start growing again, and we might get a few more. Picked one yellow summer squash and 1 yellow zucchini this morning..just have to come up with something to use the bigger ones on. And it won't be more zucchini bread, lol!
Mr L is making a stir fry with some of his leftovers,,I am just going to cook a chicken thigh and some plain ramen
Have a nice rest of the day

Good evening all. Hope you have all had a good week. I got side tracked with a project that has been keeping me busy and I realized I need to get some more of the cruise posted. For now I have Day 3. Most of the day was at sea as the time we were arriving at port kept changing. Thankfully I was able to book an excursion on the ship. We were heading to Juneau. This is the only state capital in the US that can only be accessed by boat or by plane. That was according to the tour guide. He was a lot of fun and very informative. Evidently the Birdman of Alcatraz was from Juneau and for a time Wyatt Earp was a sheriff there. I loved that part because my grandson's name is Wyatt Earp.

Before we arrived at the port we played a few games and I explored the ship. I found the Casino and Cigar Bar. I was very surprised to find this in there

I toured the Distillery while I was in Scotland.

I wandered through the Art Gallery and found a touch of Disney

The pictures were for auction later in the cruise but I was afraid of them being shipped home and no way I could take them on a plane. I did enjoy them though.

We played a few games and got a lot of complements on our shirts. This was July 11th, our 41st anniversary and we were wearing the shirts I had ordered.

We did have some excitement on deck when I managed to get some pictures of whales
197 (2).JPG223 (2).JPG

Ok quite a few pics were the spouts but I did get a whale tail. I just shot on bracket and hoped for the best. I was happy. To commemorate it I bought a whale tail marble sculpture that is about 6 inches high in one of the ports.

I did get a couple of seaplanes landing

Then we were off to the Mendenhall Glacier. This was one of the reasons we chose Alaska and I was not disappointed. Sadly they are shrinking but it is still massive and even in the rain was awesome. It was a very wet day. People don't realize that Juneau is actually a rain forest and we were there in the rainy season. I hiked to the Glacier and Nugget Falls for a closer look thinking it was a short hike. Jim decided to wait. My short hike was over a mile, not a quarter mile, in the RAIN. I had to keep my camera under my jacket except for pictures. I was happy though. I'll let the pictures speak fo themselves

It was a long day and we were late for dinner. I wasn't happy with the way the staff was in the restaurant. We did not get a private table as we reserved but I was ok with that. We did NOT get the wait staff we wanted either and that was disappointing. It was the one difference from our Disney Cruise that I really didn't like.

Over all it was a good day though. I will try and get the rest of the trip caught up tomorrow. It's difficult to cram a whole day into 10 pictures.

Thanks. Glad I could trigger some happy memories.

My grandson finished my bathroom and it looks amazing. I decorated with a beach theme but love the little sayings

I love the towels rack on the door because now they have a place and I can hang my jammies too. Jay is already planning the next project for when I'm in Disney in October. He's replacing the garage wall so we can use the door again and then over the winter is cleaning out the basement a little each week on trash day. I am truly blessed with that grandson. I knew God has a plan for him even though I didn't understand it at the time.

Have a good night all.

Hopped on quickly this morning and caught up reading here, as DH and I were the only ones up for a while, having coffee. Drive yesterday was good, and weather is lovely.

The Alaska pics are amazing!! And I love the new bathroom too. 😃

QOTD on non-traditional uses for things:

I used to keep my iPod and headphones in a Minnie Mouse kids' sunglasses case (the clamshell kind, with the hard sides).

For some reason, trash cans in DS's freshman dorm had to be metal, not plastic, so he used an old Red Sox popcorn tin for trash by his desk.

Good morning everyone--another nice, low temp, sunny day, with just a chance of showers later. Temps tomorrow are supposed to be a high of 68? That's low for the middle of August! I love being able to sleep with the windows open and the fan just circulating the cool air. I get tired of ac and closed windows after awhile
@tazdev3225 Great pics, thanks for sharing. The ones of the glacier are amazing! Love your bathroom,,I love a beach theme!
Putting a corned beef in the crockpot for dinner tonite,,haven't cooked much all week, and someone (not me) is whining about it

Have a nice morning all
