Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good evening everyone.

I am home from Alaska. There were too many pages to go through although I did scan everything. The only thing I remember is Tonsil Stones. My granddaughter gets them, and they are a nuisance for her. She gets some rather big one and has actually used her toothbrush to try and scrape them out. She hasn't complained about the too much lately so maybe they have gone away.

Alaska was fabulous. The cruise was so much fun except for the couple of days I was really seasick. I expected some issues based on our cruise 8 years ago and had 2 bottles of Dramamine with me. The first day I took the maximum dosage and a lot of Ginger Ale. We had a Specialty Dinner and I insisted we go but as soon as the food came out, I turned green. Sadly, it was the one I was most looking forward to attending.

The views were awesome, and my husband spoiled me. The first full day as we wandered the ship, we found the jewelry store. I browsed but had no intentions of buying anything. My husband had other ideas. He bought me a Blue Diamond pendant. I plan on having it appraised since I think he paid more than it is worth. I was looking in the watch store and saw a Mickey Mouse Citizens watch. I didn't buy it but kept going back and looking. I went so far as to look it up online and the price was about $I5 more but with no tax and shipping it was comparable. I have several watches and couldn't decide about it. My husband bought that for my birthday. When he bought the pendant, we were actually just waiting for a drawing they were having. Guess who WON a diamond necklace, also supposedly valued at over $2,000. That's right - ME! I walked out with 2 diamond pendants. I said that at least I have one for each of my granddaughters when I die. I will post some pictures and a mini trip report if you would care to hear about the trip.

Tried to get back into a routine today, but that didn't work. I fell asleep. We were at the airport for almost 10 hours and then a late-night flight where I couldn't get comfortable. You would think that first class would have offered a pillow or blanket since it was a red eye. They also came around with one offer of a drink and a basket of cookies. The flight attendants looked and acted like we, the passengers, were an annoyance to them. This was NOT first-class treatment. I was able to track my luggage and was fairly certain they didn't load one piece. Sure enough as soon as the plane landed, I had a text message that one piece was still in Seattle. Of course, I had no way of knowing which one of the 3 was missing. I headed to lost luggage services to be told that it's all online. Went back to get Jim and head out to find my daughter and what was riding the baggage carousel? That's right - the LOST piece of luggage. I plan on contacting the airline tomorrow, but I need to be careful how I deal with things as they are the best airline for nonstop to Orlando and I have a credit from a trip I took back in December when they changed my flights. I really don't like to complain but at the same time how can they work to improve if they don't know what the issues are.

I did come home to a mostly finished new bathroom. My grandson just needs to do some trim work and we need to paint the walls now. All the new fixtures make them seem so out of place. I decided to continue with the grays from downstairs and use the darker shade.

Hope you all have a nice evening. I have to sort over 2,000 pictures.

:grouphug:Taz and welcome home and back here. Did miss you, my friend. WOW, what a fantastic trip, aside, of course, from food poisoning which I am so sorry to read about :( I would also love to see pictures :)

Lynn, much prayer you are finally feeling better!

I did look up the book 📕Footballmouse. It's not currently available on Paperback Swap. I would be happy to put it on my Wish List on that site if you want. How that works is when a member posts it, because I would be the only person wishing for it, I would have first option at ordering it. I could have it sent directly to you. One book basically is $3 on PBS. I often get an even better bargain because I tend to get mostly Love Inspired romances which don't cost anymore to mail 2 of then 1 so a lot of members offer 2 for 1 credit (how the site works and each credit you buy costs $3) deals on them. Should it ever become available, and you still didn't have it, it would, of course, be a gift from me to you :) Let me know.

Sweet Dreams, friends with love.

Almost time for bed again.

We went to church, which was very nice but exceedingly long. Four different ministers spoke, plus communion. And DH and I had both altar guild duties and communion to clean up after.

We ended up going down to DD's house for a cookout for dinner and returning their dog. Wanted to hear how camping went.

@Snowysmom , even if you don't notice it, your posts seem, at least to me, to be more positive, upbeat, and hopeful. I think you are making progress. And  for a rough day today.

what are all of your experiences?
Personally, I go to viewings to pay respects to the family but avoid actually viewing the body. I prefer when it is called visitation. When my parents died, I appreciated everyone who came to pay respects and offer sympathy.

I think we've done all the pre-planning we can,
I need a "WDW for Dummies" book. All the Lightning Lanes and Genie+ and Virtual Cues are mind boggling. Certainly not a casual, spontaneous trip.

I am home from Alaska.
Welcome back! Can't wait to see pictures.

NIghty night all.

@tazdev3225 welcome back. Sounds like you had a great trip, can't wait to hear more about it and see some of your pictures.

@Snowysmom been thinking about you today.

We've had a busy couple days. I think I've mentioned before our best friends are like family to us. We spend a lot of time together and have also become close to their extended families as well. Yesterday was a housewarming and birthday party for a niece of our friends and her DD. Lots of family members from out of state decided to come for the party so it also turned out to be a family reunion for them. After the housewarming, most of the family ended up at our friends for swimming and then back again today for more swimming. It was a lot of fun but I'm pretty tired this evening. While our friends were spending time with their family, DH and I were doing some behind the scenes tp help everything go smooth...help with cooking, set up, clean up, etc so we're both a little wore out. LoL

Tomorrow, a bunch of us are going to the drive in to see Thor and Top Gun. We've already seen Top Gun but liked it alot so we don't mind watching it again.

Excited to try out our new pillows from Amazon on Prime Day so I'm off to bed now....hope you all have a good night's sleep.

Good morning, everyone!

Nothing interesting to report yet. Just out on the porch with one of the cats. We've seen two dogs walking on leashes so far, and a couple of people leaving for work. The goal is a little fresh air before:
a) it gets too hot, or
b) Mosquito Ranger gets here.

I'll be working on Flea Market prep later, then maybe a run to the library.

My youngest (grownup) niece has covid now. 🙁

Good morning-
We finally got some rain last nite. Calling for mostly cloudy and rain today, high temp of 79. Its very gray and cloudy out right now. One minute it's 85% chance of rain, then it goes down to 52%..that's a big difference.

Nothing new to report here. Went to bed early after watching American Pickers (anyone else watch?--its finally a new season). Also watched Deadliest Catch and Riverdale (that is such a weird show, but Mr L likes it).

I had plans earlier to clean more today, just don't feel like it. Still have a headache from the weather and just don't want to deal with cleaning .

@AuntieMe3 --sounds like a great weekend was had by all!
@PollyannaMom sorry to hear about your niece's covid. Hope she recovers soon and fully!

Have a great morning all--and btw..this is the first morning I haven't had issues logging on in at least 3 weeks! Things are looking up. Going to check the tech board and see if they have done anything about the issue yet.

Posted on the tech board by Webmaster Alex yesterday afternoon regarding the issues some of us are having--

Unfortunately our provider seems to be entirely unable to figure this out. I have no choice but to move the DNS
It's probably going to cause a few issues but this needs to end. Moving it to Cloudflare

Morning all. I've been getting the same problems getting on as y'all reported this weekend, on my computer. Not on my phone, though, and since I hate typing on here on the phone, I just didn't post. LOL Cloudflare...ugh.

((huggles)) to all who need them.
@Snowysmom I hope you are doing ok.
@tazdev3225 Sounds like a pretty good trip....welcome back! Isn't it fun when you come back from a trip with great rewards, lol.

@Canadisney Fly I've only been to a couple funerals in my life; the most recent one I attended was for a young man we knew through Boy Scouts. I went to the viewing, to give my condolences to his family; my son and husband (who were closer to the young man) did not. We did attend the funeral as a family, though. I wish it had not been an open casket viewing; it broke my heart.

@lynxstch I know what you mean about the hair length giving headaches. I never realized just the pain in my scalp was related to my hair being so long, until I got it cut really short. It is so thick, they have to 'thin' it whenever I get it cut, and heavy! I can't use those thin ponytail holders either; they pull the hair and that makes my head hurt too! I'm an old timey (ha, 1980s throwback reference coming up) banana clip or scrunchie girl. I'm on my last clip, need to find some more, lol.

I did..nothing all weekend. Other than a few loads of laundry and the bedding, all of which needs to be put away still. DH and DS went to the store for me yesterday, so I didn't have to do anything. I sent him with a list; he came back with some of my list and an 18 pack of small chip bags. I just looked at him and went...um, we have an order coming in from Sam's Club with 4 boxes of 'Rap Snacks' chips in them. Did we really need another 18 pack of chips?? Apparently, yes, we did. :rolleyes2 Which, BTW, were delivered after 7pm last night...and NO ONE RANG THE DOORBELL...so they sat outside in the rain overnight. Luckily it was just a drizzle by the time the package was delivered, and only the outer box was damp; the actual boxes of chips were dry, as were the chip bags, so it's all ok. But still...darn FedEx...ring the darn bell!!!

DGS#3 turns 6 on Thursday; had his party this weekend. He will get his presents from us on his actual birthday. DGS#4 is having to get tubes put in, because he has all kinds of issues with ear infections and allergies; so that's happening this week as well. received_333244538964033.jpeg The little assassin and his enforcer (as DH calls them). Assassin because DGS#4's middle name comes from a book series we all love, called The Dresden Files, and Kincaid is an assassin type guy in them.

DGS#2 is starting baseball this year; he really likes to play it.

DS started his CAD certificate program last week and is about 1/3 through the course (the first 4 classes are very basic, like how to turn on the computer, how to use Office, how to open AutoCAD....which he's been playing on since he was about 4). He should be able to get through the entire course in about a month, at this rate. LOL DH is taking him in a couple weeks to get some 'work shoes' (aka not tennis shoes), work pants (aka not zip off khakis; DS doesn't wear jeans, so that won't be hard for him to avoid) and some work shirts (button ups or polos). I could do so, but DS is seeming to respond better to DH these days, and I'd like to help their relationship grow back to where they were about 5 years ago. DS came up behind DH the other day, and put a piece of ice down DH's shirt, which turned into a standing 'wrestling' match, but DH slipped because of slippery slippers, and ended up on the floor on his knees...I don't think he's scabbed his knees that bad since he was in elementary school, lol. I think it sort of shocked him that DS is now a bit closer to 'whuppin' DH than he was 6 months ago, if you know what I mean; DS has really gained some muscle mass and a few more inches in height (he's now 5'7"), and probably some 'dirty tricks' from the Marine BIL, haha.

I'm debating on dinner tonight. It's either going to be sweet and spicy cauliflower on rice or steak tips with roasted potatoes and broccoli. Probably the cauliflower tonight, as the tips are still frozen. LOL Tomorrow I'll do the tips. Y'all have a good day!

@tazdev3225 --Welcome home.!! Glad you had a great trip, and wow at all the 'hardware' you came home with, lol. I for one would love to see pictures, and also get a mini trip report when you have the time! We missed you this week, and were all hoping that you were enjoying yourself!
I second all this! Enjoyed your story so far.
@Snowysmom , even if you don't notice it, your posts seem, at least to me, to be more positive, upbeat, and hopeful. I think you are making progress. And  for a rough day today.
I agree! It takes a lot of time to move past grief and on to remembering the wonderful stuff with a smile in your heart for having shared your love.
Good morning-
We finally got some rain last nite.
Us also and it was soggy here with humidity this morning. Dog refused to go out as he hates rain. I started yard work around 6am to get it finished before the organic collection and before Camp Gammie starts. They aren't here yet but are on their way.
Have a great morning all--and btw..this is the first morning I haven't had issues logging on in at least 3 weeks! Things are looking up. Going to check the tech board and see if they have done anything about the issue yet.
I just came on but hadn't tried earlier since I was outside working. I rarely shut it down so don't always figure it out unless I go to post or turn a page.

Grettings everyone -

Busy weekend + occasional difficulties getting on the site + all the sudden my notifications no longer come thru (I've double checked and I've selected to get notifications and haven't changed any settings- who knows) so if I don't get a email saying someone has responded to a thread I've subscribed to then it's kinda a out of sight/outta mind sorta thing for me.

Nasty, nasty , nasty outside today. Evidently it will continue to be so for the next week at least. Oh well, it's high summer so it's to be expected I suppose.

Exhausted - had three house guests this weekend, plus my parents are in town (we have a full in-law suite for them and we don't consider them house guests) and a graduation party in honor of my nieces graduation was held at our place Saturday afternoon/evening. Exhausted but in a good way, our house guests are not at all the type that we dread having and are folks we would welcome anytime. I guess it's just that we are used to more of a quiet & solitary existence, but it's good to mix it up once in a while! We did have crabs yesterday. Prices here are $225 for a half bushel of extra large/jumbo. They were so good, full and heavy. Not a mushy or light one in the mix. Hopefully the kids get their trot line in order and start crabbing in the next few weeks to save us some $$$!!!!!

Bid fat nothing planned for this coming weekend, no complaints here! Taking my folks to the airport in Philly, then down toward the De shore to go to a jobsite tomorrow. Nail appt. after work Wednesday. Back down to southern De on Thursday for work.

Have a good week everyone - I'm sorry, I know I've missed several pages of posts, I'll try to play catch up this week!

@easyas123 --regarding your email notifications--a lot of people are reporting the same thing on the tech board under the 'error' thread. I myself don't want email notifications, so I can't tell you if mine stopped, but lots are saying that they did. They said recheck your settings and make sure it's still checked if you want email notifications. If it is, and it's not working, it's probably part of the same problem that the DNS server is causing. Alex is switching to another one, but from what I hear,,that one isn't much better :(

Drive safely, have a good week!

I checked my settings and everything is still checked - I guess it's just part of the larger snafu. I gotta find the tech board....as far as servers, I don't know one from the other! I just hope they are able to get it fixed as they'd prefer it, it must be very frustrating to the folks that run this site.

Rainy cloudy morning - just about to drive into work and send most of the team out to the field - I'll join them next week. In spite of the world being in upheaval (or possibly because of it), we are working hard to gain some sense of normalcy.
I guess it's just that we are used to more of a quiet & solitary existence, but it's good to mix it up once in a while!
I don't know about you, but the shift back to having many people around after the pandemic has brought some challenges - I see it in myself, and in others. I'm loving the expansion of my bubble, but need some quiet time as well.
Glad you have as much of your trip planned as you can..when do you go?
We leave August 10th and am starting to get excited, but am very sad that they've taken away the FastPass system. We have two days each in MK and in EP, so the first day, we won't use any Lightening Lanes or Genie+, but if there's something that we weren't able to see, we could consider paying the extra for the second day. I'm hopeful the virtual queue will still be in place for GotG when we arrive. This will be a very laid-back trip - seven days in the parks, hot, hot, hot, and we're all a little nervous about travel and being around crowds
I would probably ask if he would have regrets not seeing his friend.
I prefer when it is called visitation.
We did attend the funeral as a family, though. I wish it had not been an open casket viewing; it broke my heart.
Thanks for your comments - it's so hard for him to know if he'll regret it or how he'll respond, so I do think it will have to be a decision in the moment. I agree with the term "visitation" - this is a bit odd that this is all there is, and no service or funeral to follow. We've already decided to have a small memorial on his birthday and have a bbq in the park this fall.
I will post some pictures and a mini trip report if you would care to hear about the trip
It sounds like an amazing trip! I have been looking at various Mickey watches for years - I'd love to see photos of your trip (and all the beautiful things 💎)
The little assassin and his enforcer (as DH calls them).
Your GKs are ADORABLE (and your DH has a great sense of humour)!

Out the door now - here on the west (wet) coast, I'm 3 hrs behind most of you. Have a beautiful day!

Good Morning! 🐥

Earlier June in July gloom has given way to sunshine. Did enjoy some 🥞for breakfast. Dad will be going to the Dollar Tree, car wash and dropping off a couple of things to both Sue and Glenda. Both Sue's house and church are very close to the Dollar Tree and car wash. Dad's Christmas bowl is coming today or tomorrow. I am excited to get to see it. Thank you all again for your encouragement on it. We watched a dash of Sharing Christmas last night. I instantly liked that unlike some Hallmark movies, both of Candace Cameron's (main actress) parents in the movie were alive, well, and part of the story. Will watch more if later.

Thank you, always, Carol and to your DH for the many ways you both serve God through your church. I hope your grandkids had a lot of fun camping⛺ Hugs, I agree with you. I remember grandma assuring me as a teen that grandpa would want me to remember him as he was alive and healthy rather than viewing his body (since I did not feel comfortable doing so). I have attended many memorial and celebration of life services since. Absolutely a very personal choice that each person in their heart needs to be at peace with. Thank you also for your kind words to our friend Snowysmom, ITA.

How fun, AuntieMe3! Enjoy the movie🎦 A birthday card will be mailed to you today. You can open it early or save to open on your birthday. I decided right now it is always better to give the ponies an early start on mail delivery even though we are not that far apart in distance.

I would enjoy helping you with the flea market, PollyannaMom. I hope you find a good book at the library 📘I am sorry to hear that about your niece. Prayers for her indeed! A friend of mine from church currently has Covid, too.

:grouphug:Lynn and prayers you are headache free this morning! Thank you, always, for your diligence on reporting and following up on board issues. I had no trouble logging in this morning. I did not get PM notifications yesterday for two different messages. Glad it's still being worked on, sorry it is still needing to be fixed!

Aw, God Bless your precious grandsons, B&B! Thank you for sharing their sweet pictures with us! Happy Birthday on Thursday to DGS 3! So thankful you will get to see him. My poor hair is troublesome, too. First off, it has not been trimmed since before Christmas, 2019! I never did get it cut before Covid hit. I had meant to and, just never did. I have very fine hair that just absorbs water like a sponge. I have yet to find a shampoo/conditioner that truly work for me. Years ago, once, a product called Redken (which I thought was interesting because my hair is medium brown NOT red and I thought Redken=for red hair) helped. That was also costly and was just used once at a salon. ITA about with you and Lynn about hair length along with weight. For me, both of those things can also impact my TMJ. I can see how they might also cause headaches :( You just take care and have a better week ahead!

Smart :dogdance: you have Judique! Champ did not like going out in the rain (or especially wind) either. He took after me both ways. I LOVE your wise and loving words about grief. Thank you for sharing them!

Have a good and safe week, Easyas! Hope by now you are truly all well! 🌸

Canadisney Fly, what a lovely and kind idea to have a birthday memorial. Prayers that will bring extra peace to all attending. Prayers to you for a safe and FUN trip ::MickeyMo to come in August.

Have a good Monday, friends :)

Thanks!

Here you go, so you don't have to hunt for it

I don't know about you, but the shift back to having many people around after the pandemic has brought some challenges - I see it in myself, and in others. I'm loving the expansion of my bubble, but need some quiet time as well.
For us I think it's more about our personal space at home...we both worked full time w/ no change during the entirely of Covid in both the office & on the jobsites and went out and about and lived life the the fullest extent possible/traveled and were out & about. I think what it is is that, well we aren't introverts by any measure, we just value our privacy I guess. And having to entertain 75 people we found exhausting!
Thanks for your comments - it's so hard for him to know if he'll regret it or how he'll respond, so I do think it will have to be a decision in the moment. I went back and read your post from earlier, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. For me personally, I've been to my cousins funeral and I didn't want to view the body but ended up there under pressure. Don't get me wrong, it in no way caused me any trauma, I just don't care to have that experience. My grandmother passed away while we were all on a extended family vacation. I choose not to go into her room to see her prior to the EMTS taking her body out, and we were extremely close, and I have zero regrets over that choice. I think it's a hard thing, people live with regret over so many and it's so hard to judge what is regretful to one person vs. not regretful to others. I guess my thoughts would be, decide once he gets there, don't feel any pressure to view or not view, and whatever he chooses he can sit well with the knowledge that it will in no way impede on any of his good memories of his friend.
Here you go, so you don't have to hunt for it
Thanks! I actually found it just after posting here and I posted a little blurb - then poof! No more website until about 1:45 Eastern for me, kept getting the error ironically enough!

Possible good T-storms later this evening, fingers crossed we get a good one before I go to bed so I can enjoy it while I'm awake!

Good afternoon.

Had my injection this morning. It was not a bad experience at all. Now hope it helps. FYI, my pain level is usually only a 3-4 but it occurs while sitting and laying on my back. Makes it difficult to sit and we have three drives to Florida planned.

Supposed to be hot this week. I have a two hour shift at church tomorrow and we are going to DD's on Thursday so DSIL can paint. DH will help paint and I'll watch Carter, or vice versa. Carter loves his granddad. Tessa is at a cheer and tumbling camp all week.

@tazdev3225 Nice to hear you had a great cruise. The jewelry sounds lovely. Alaska is beautiful.

Sending thought and prayers to all who are in need. :grouphug:

It is a bit rainy here today so no walking for now. I did walk at 6:15 this morning but I usually do 3 or 4 walks a day. I hope it lets up later.

I did go to my DGS's birthday party for a while yesterday. I left after the Happy Birthday song which was about an hour and a half into the party. My anxiety was just to high and I did not want to be around so many people. It was a tough day yesterday. This morning I was out on the balcony talking to Chris, and yelling a little bit (I have toned it down and it is softer yelling) when big bug decided to dive into my cup of coffee. I was wondering if it was a sign from Chris to get me to stop my conversation with him. Yesterday I did see a big, beautiful monarch butterfly at my DS's house. I was waiting for ice cream at the ice cream truck they hired when the butterfly flew right by me and then flew around in front of me for a bit and then landed on one of the bushes nearby. Earlier that morning I saw the cardinal fly by me as I was walking.

Chris' cousin Joe (and I consider him my cousin too) decided to go to the hospice for care. He was scared to be alone in his apt and frankly after seeing him on Saturday I think it is the best for him. He could get around but he was not eating much and looked weak and debilitated. He got admitted today so now we have to see what we need to do to get him settled. His apt is in an elderly housing complex so I figure we will need to clean it out before too long. It is so sad how he went from feeling fine a month ago to this now. My kids are the ones who have the legal rights to care for Joe both medically and legally so I am just a helper for them. My kids have been through so much emotionally this year. They keep on helping and caring and I am so grateful for them. They are always there for family. I am just so sad about this. Joe is such a kind person.

I did manage to get 2 laundries done while I worked. I am not sure what I will do next. There is always something that needs to be done.

Have a good rest of the day and evening.
