Happy Wednesday! :darth: :chewy:

Made it home yesterday before the rain starting coming down. I was actually outside with the dogs when we heard the thunder rolling in. Scooped the cat up and got the dogs inside.

Almost forgot to go and vote yesterday. Once dinner was done in the oven I ran up to my voting place and then back home. Food was still warm, unfortunately it wasn't any good so the cat ate pretty good last night.

Getting my list together for my big painting project this weekend. I'm taking a week off of work next week and I'm going to paint my kitchen cabinets and my brick fireplace. Sometime this month I'm also going to paint the shed out back and redo my living room tables. A very big to-do list for myself so I'm getting everything that I'll need ready to go.

Since it's Wednesday, it's my Survivor night. I wasn't happy with last week's episode so I'm not too excited about it this week. If the show continues with the pattern they've been following for the last couple of seasons then this will be my last :sad1:.

Today will be the last day in the office before my vacation starts so I need to get a lot of things done while I'm here instead of doing it tomorrow from home. Hope everyone has a great day and nice weather! :goofy:

:wave:Good Morning and Happy Wednesday, Dad and I are most grateful that Igor, from Task Rabbit through Ikea, will be coming this morning to build our new furniture. I will take pictures :)

Thank you for sharing all you vacation photos, Carol. I love the one of the bridge and waterfall so tranquil.

Big:grouphug:Taz and so very much prayer for your DH today and you, always, too!

Happy vacation to soon come, Footballmouse! :)

Lynn, much prayer that today is much calmer and more restful for dear you all-around!

Thinking of you and sending an extra hug PollyannaMom! Continued prayers for your son.

Kirby, Dazed, and Frog, love and prayers to all of you always, too!

I'll come back later :)

Good afternoon.

Had PT this morning. Going down to Dunkirk this evening. Tomorrow DDIL has two appts at Johns Hopkins, both routine follow ups, but they don't want to take Marty. So, we are going to baby sit all day. Should be less stressful than the two mobile grandkids.

And speaking of Marty, his parents took him to his first baseball game last night at the Bowie Baysox. And he got a certificate to prove it. He parents are real Orioles fans.

I always thought Mother's Day was founded in Philadelphia by a Philadelphia Native. We even have a plaque downtown to commemorate it
That is interesting. I googled and found this.

The official Mother’s Day holiday arose in the 1900s as a result of the efforts of Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis. Following her mother’s 1905 death, Anna Jarvis conceived of Mother’s Day as a way of honoring the sacrifices mothers made for their children. After gaining financial backing from a Philadelphia department store owner named John Wanamaker, in May 1908 she organized the first official Mother’s Day celebration at a Methodist church in Grafton, West Virginia. That same day also saw thousands of people attend a Mother’s Day event at one of Wanamaker’s retail stores in Philadelphia.

May the Fourth be with you
And also with you.

I like this. And interesting how it melded at both places in the beginning!

@footballmouse I love that you’re taking on those projects! Can’t wait to hear about them and hopefully see pictures! Nice to be off from work for a bit.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad things are coming together. Looking forward to hearing and seeing pics of your new things, as well.

Carol, glad you had a nice trip! I like your retirement lifestyle!

Snowysmom, dazed, PollyannMom, Kirby, Auntie, frog, and anyone else going through rough patches, hugs and prayers!

B&B I like hearing about your meals, you make some interesting things! Same with easyas. Last night we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. And I picked up some Nathan’s fries that you guys are always talking about - agree, really good! We also made a big salad. I won’t be home next couple of nights so they’re on their own, I overheard DH and DD talking about going out for Chinese food! (They go to a place where I like the atmosphere but food not as much when I’m working; I prefer a different place for their stir fry, so that’s ‘their’ thing.) DS is pulling a double shift today, money is good, but he’ll be tired tomorrow. He passed his class now has to sit for two national exams in the next few weeks.

Had normal mammograms this week which is always a relief as a BC survivor.

We are all excited about our new family member coming home later this month. I talked to the foster yesterday and she let me know what she thinks he needs, which isn’t much - a bed and some squeaky toys! I’ll shop for those next week when I’m off. I was bummed out about my hairdresser leaving her job, was worried I wouldn’t be able to easily access her anymore as she took a conventional (non-hair) job for benefits. But she just texted me the name of a new place she’ll be working doing hair, so that was a big, “Phew!” :P Don’t want to have to find someone new at this point. Speaking of hair, I was also planning to stop by Toto’s groomer’s to see if she could squeeze in new dog when he comes home after he settles in a bit. In pictures he looks like he needs a good grooming. We could definitely do a bath at home, but blowing the excess hair off would go a long way. We’ll play that one by ear.

Weather here is grey today, but relatively warm. I hope the weekend will be nice. 🐣

Yay! Everything is all built. Igor came promptly at 9:30 and was done before 11:30. He did an excellent job all-around. Dad and I are most grateful and happy, of course, the job is done. I hid out mostly in the back room while Igor was here (in the living room). So we have two of the cabinets (one will stay in here--living room and the other will be my nightstand). What a blessing being able to now have my Bible by my bed in the drawer will be. It will also be great to be able to (much more easily) open the drawer and the shelves are great too inside the door. This replaces one of those 3 plastic drawer on wheels cart. That had worked out just fine, no complaints. It is hard to open the drawers plus the thing sure gets grimy (plastic after a while). Solid piece=much better all-around :)

It's interesting to read the Mother's Day information, which was all new to me. Thank you, Carol and Taz, for sharing.

:dogdance:Pea. I look forward to seeing pictures--what's the pup's name, again?

Sending an extra hug your way, Snowysmom, thinking of you!

I wish all of dear you a good afternoon!

Hello to all once again.
We actually have sun and nice temps today in my neck of the woods. Rain on the schedule for tomorrow and Friday.
Many thoughts and positive prayers to all who are going through hard or extremely difficult chapters. I am afraid there is not much hope for my marriage. I keep praying and praying and hoping, but my husband seems determined that things are over. I don't want to go into details, but we've been together over 20 years and have 4 kids. I am slayed. Continued prayers and good thoughts would be appreciated. I know that God has the power to change the course. I also know that it may not be the plan, but I am not ready to give up just yet.

pea- so glad you are getting the dog. We just got a new puppy in our house. He's cute, but I don't love the puppy stage with the chewing and training.

taz and dazed and snowysmom: :grouphug::grouphug::hug: Sometimes it all just seems like too much.

carol-love the pictures

Don't know much else at this point.

@flyingdumbo127 The furniture looks really nice. Igor did a good job. I am glad you are happy with the results and now can have your Bible close by.

@Pea-n-Me You sound so excited about your new family member. How nice!

Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

I went to the house to take out the trash. While I was there the mail carrier came by. We talked for a bit. Chris and I would always talk with him when we would see him when we were out on our walks. He sent me a note after Chris passed saying we had true love. He is a kind person. He lost his Dad shortly after Chris passed so we were talking about how we are managing without our loved ones. He said his mother keeps looking for signs from his Dad. She sometimes thinks she has received a sign but then just brushes it away. I told him that if she thinks it is a sign then it is. Just be open to accept it. I will not miss driving down 495 3 or 4 times a week. I will miss the company I have being with my DS even if the kids are crazy sometimes.

I saw my therapist yesterday. I told her I am staying with her even after I move. I like her and feel like I can say anything and not be judged. She also has an gentle way about her and guides me to thinking abut my new life. I am going to try to get Thursday afternoon appts every 3 weeks and then take Friday off from work. I can stay with my DS for a couple of nights and have some much needed company. She had me write up a time line showing what I have done since Chris passed to when I will move into the condo. Wow! Have I done alot in 7+ months. No wonder I am done and can't do any more and that I have not had time for me. I have to say that I have done more than most who lose their spouses mainly because of all the house cleaning, selling, looking for a condo, and working too. I need a rest! :scared:

Have a good day.

@Snowysmom, you sure have! That’s why we were saying you’re doing great even if it didn’t feel that way! I can’t wait until you are settled into your condo and can start to eek out this new chapter one day at a time. I think you’ll feel better than you have been once you’re there. ❤️

@frog3101 I went back to my earlier post to put your name in as I knew there was someone whose name I didn’t mention. I’m sorry to hear how your husband is feeling about things. You‘re in my prayers.

I was just going to tell her the same thing. We keep telling her she's been so strong, that she's taking things the way she needs to, and has accomplished a ton in the last 7 months. I am glad that her therapist had her write that list..so she could see for herself how much she has done!

Thank you for the continued well wishes everyone. DH test numbers are showing slight improvement, I'll take slight if it means more time with him. We will know more after his scans toward the end of the month.

DH and I are getting excited for our trip in 12 days. It is such a blessing to be looking forward to something. Its been awhile since we have felt that way. I made reservations today for a couple of ATV's so we can get out and see some of the sights without having to hike too much. I'm trying to think of ways for DH to be able to enjoy himself without getting too tired out. That goes for me also. I guess. :rolleyes1

frog.... I hope you and your husband can work things out, marriage is not easy. I don't know if you have tried counseling but it helped DH and I greatly years ago.

Snowymom.... You are doing great, I wonder how I will be when the time comes. I'm glad you have the opportunity to get away for a few days, try to use the time to refresh.

Mona......the furniture looks great, I'm glad you had someone put it together, not one of my favorite tasks.

BreezyCarol...... Have a wonderful day with Marty!!

Thanks, Carol. The red sofa also came from Ikea, years ago. I like that it's Christmas-y. Lol, now all of you can see where I read on the couch daily.

:grouphug:❤️dear Frog. I am so sorry, my friend. Thank you for trusting in all of us to share. Please know we do care so much and are with you. God is forever walking right beside you!

ITA with Pea and Lynn, Snowysmom! And I just love your therapist from afar. She truly sounds like a lovely lady and a friend definitely brought into your life by God.

:hug:dear Dazed and good to see you, too. An improvement-an improvement, my friend. I am so thankful you do have your upcoming trip to look forward. Please have FUN! :)

@dazedx3 I am wishing a wonderful trip for you, your DH, and family. Try to take it one day at a time and relax, have peace, and enjoy time with family. I love the idea of the ATVs. Enjoy the scenery without getting too tired. Your love, concern, and caring for your DH is clear in everything you say.

@frog3101 Thinking of your and sending prayers to you.

Hugs to all! Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts. - DS made it to both his finals today!

He was pretty sure he did well on one, and the other one he will have to wait and see (more short answers than multiple choice, so less clear-cut.)

He is going to take it easy and rest tonight!

:cheer2:for your DS, PollyannaMom, good for him. I'm so grateful he's doing well! And an extra  to you! Thank you on the furniture. Tomorrow I'll replace the plastic drawers with the new nightstand and reorganize my books now that I have more room for 📚

ITA, Snowysmom with what you said to our friend Dazed. Extra  to both of you.

Sweet dreams, friends.

I have been reading and am happy to catch up. I like your furniture!^

I keep you all in my prayers, and I am happy your DS made it to his tests, Pollyannamom.

I learned I will need a reverse shoulder replacement, and meet with a surgeon on May 19. I have some misgivings and lots of questions. DH needs another test, the PET scan may have found something.

Our older son and his DW will not be coming to visit this weekend. Their DS needs some medical attention. The weather doesn’t look good here for the first Coast Guard Community Festival this Saturday.

Am watching the Phillies, I do enjoy Baseball, and sometimes I do other things while watching like doing puzzles or reading books or Disboards.

Middle of the night reading again, but as someone who has had a shoulder surgery in the past, I can certainly sympathize with any pain you may be having. My problem in my right shoulder was a lot simpler and handled by arthroscopic surgery quite a few years ago. But the pain was real and mostly kept me from sleeping at night.

I just read up on the reverse treatment and I hope you are able to get all your questions answered. I was reading on the Johns Hopkins site.

Meanwhile, I am having pain in my left arm and I've made an appointment also with a surgeon. Again, mostly the pain bothers me at night. Mine seems to be more like tennis elbow and again a lot simpler than your situation. I fell in January right before going to Hilton Head and injured my arm then but have been ignoring it since then hoping it would resolve but it is probably a ligament tear. I'm afraid I'll have to get it fixed.

@bobbiwoz Sorry to hear about the surgery. Thoughts and prayers to you.

@PollyAnnnaMom Glad your DS is feeling better. Fingers crossed finals went well.

Time for coffee and then work. I have my 4 days off next week but I know when I go back to work on Friday it will be playing catch up. Then the next week I close on the real estate and move. It will be nice when I am not so busy!

Have a good day.
