Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I was recently on another thread about coffee makers and people who disliked keurigs. About a week ago. One thing is for sure that I probably won't use one in a hotel, just in case.

I used to have a bodum small sized french press that I packed when going to my DVC rooms. Was leaving the Bay Lake Towers one trip and hadn't packed it properly. Dropped it and shattered the glass while putting it in the car :( .

I have several others but that one was just right and it was red which for some reason I enjoyed. Tried to find a glass carafe that fit the frame and was never successful. I might just shop for a new one.

I did get the condo I bid on.
Yeah!!! Minnie Cheerleader.png
and the squirrels enjoy it too. Our last hunt before Covid there were 2 squirrels that found the eggs and they were stealing them.
That pic was so cute! I love squirrels. They steal from our birdfeeder, but they're just as fun to watch as the birds, so I don't mind.
The machine is still out on the deck. Next step probably the trash can.
I think I would have to toss it as well.

Could you please post the brand name of what your DH is using? Seems a friend has ants also and it will be a strain ($$) to call a professional. I have the name of what Orkin used on my invoice but it looks like it's probably a professional grade poison, and probably not available as packaged for direct sale. Not sure on that. One thing is it works.
Tom buys it from Amazon. It’s called Advion Ant Gel.

Such a cure squirrel picture, Taz and good morning to all :)

I also miss the smilies, Carol. Snowysmom, definitely a cheering smilie and big heart too! Praise God! I truly am so happy for you, my friend. I am also grateful to your therapist as it truly sounds like she's a lovely lady. Please take her advice of doing something just for you each day and take time even a moment for you as well!

Big prayers, Lynn for Mr L's daughter and a safe afternoon for you!

YUCK to the ants and any creepy crawlies. I don't drink coffee but would sure also toss the machine! Prayers that gets resolved quick.

Love seeing so many new morning shares. Means so much to be greeted by each of dear you each new day. Thank you.

It's kind of gloomy and cool out here. It is supposed to be 90 by the middle of next week! :)

Happy Saturday to all. I'll look in again later.

I've been looking over the French Press selection on Amazon and amazingly, I found the same style that I broke the carafe from. It will be here tomorrow. It's black not red, and I searched to see if for some reason I may have saved the old frame, but didn't find it. That's a good thing as I have too much stuff. It's the 17 oz Chambord/ with chrome bodum model. It's wider than other small ones which makes it much easier to clean.

It was 26.99 plus tax. Now I need to pick up the correct grind of coffee. So complicated. The keurig was pretty simple. All for 1 cup per day.

In the midst of a work weekend but just wanted to pop in and say hi and congratulations to Snowysmom on the condo! I hope you can get the issues worked out with the wetlands and the house so you can move forward. When I was in cancer support my social worker had me do nice things for myself, too. I had to buy myself flowers, wear my favorite colors, drive with the music on loud (which didn’t take much prodding) and work hard to find peace in my life. Thankfully I have continued to do those things it has become habit. But getting lost in stress sometimes does make me forget a bit. If I need to be pulled back one of my favorite things to do is to just go watch dogs play. With the way things are today and when we’re going through rough times, we may need to keep working hard to find joy. 🐣 I hope everyone can find some.

QOTD: What brings you joy? I’ve answered above - flowers, music, beautiful colors, and dogs are a big part of my joy. paw: It may also sound crazy but I love when my house is nice and clean and kept up well. (That is a work in progress these days as we got behind in some work and also have a lot of purging to do. We need to keep going. I am very happy out on my screened porch, though!) Doing nice things for people, even if small things. And of course, my family brings me joy.

Ants. DH buys some stuff at Lowe’s it comes in a big white container, he sprays it around the whole outside of the house so they can’t get in and I think he also treats any areas inside that have any. Fortunately they haven’t been too, too bad but on occasion I’ve seen more than I like. That takes care of it, though. I will ask him what it is. I would be devastated if ants got in my Keurig!

We have a John Deere ride on mower. (And @easy123 I like yours! ) Have had it probably 11 years or so. It did well until a year or two ago when it started having problems starting and all that. DH gets it going but it bothers me when it’s not working right after paying all that money for it. Prior to that we had an old ride on mower that we bought from the people who we bought our house from. It was a no-name, but it ran forever, as it seemed old when we bought it. For a period in between, DH switched to a push mower for a while, but then went back to the ride-on. DS loved mowing on that thing (as a teen), which was helpful. (But I was always nervous w lawnmowers as I worked in an ER where once someone came in with a child’s foot in a container from a mowing accident. Always yelled at DH if kids or dogs were running around in yard while mower was going or rider not wearing closed toe shoes or boots, which almost never happened!)

Glad Marty is home! And glad for everyone else’s good news. All here are always in my 🙏🏻. Enjoy the weekend!

Such a cute and funny squirrel picture, Bobbiwoz, thank you for sharing it with us :)

Judique, I hope you find a good coffee maker and enjoy a tasty cup of coffee, too :)

Hug, Pea and thank you for stopping in. Prayers always to you, my friend and what a great QOTD. Thank you for asking and sharing.

QOTD: What brings you joy? Each new morning brings me joy as another day in itself, in health and right mind, ability to I pray serve and praise, and, of course, with my dad also in health truly is precious joy to me. Small moments such as sharing of our daily lunchtime soup and later night watching TV together. Checking in with all of you always brings me extra thanks to God and a smile. ITA Pea about dogs and truly do pray to one day get to have a canine companion again. I have shared that God has always placed music in my heart. I do often feel and hear a song or hymn of praise and the desire to sing to Him a joyful noise. Keeping more in touch with family and dear friends, often through happy snail mail. And the ability, again I pray, to make a kind difference no matter how teeny.

Barbara Ann during our last conversation and I were talking about joy :) I told her I truly only choose forever and always Jesus and Joy. Of course one is in the other!

May this Saturday bring each of you some unexpected joy!

Such a quiet thread! Saving from nearing the bottom, Extra grateful to have gotten to see Terri this afternoon. The downside was it was freezing and a bit windy outside for me! Too chilly for me to be out long but always a blessing to get to see her. She was so kind to have gotten me (I had secretly given her money the last time she was here) a few Easter basket fillers for my dad as a surprise. Wow did she go all-out. Only trouble is Dad's basket is too small for it all. The extra kind part is that she insisted the $10 I had given her was too much and she gave me back $5 of it. Dad's Easter basket Any ideas for something to complement this basket that I could order online? I was thinking of a bowl or reusable bag or an insulated lunch bag...something dad could use more than just at Easter. Thank you, friends.

Stay warm and well please! Sweet Dreams always.

Good morning! 45 out going to a high of 48 with wind advisory's all day ,,,again. The shower yesterday was really nice. About 50 people, but the tables were nicely spaced out. I had never met our nephew's fiancee, and she is a very sweet, courteous girl (not all of them in their early 20's are these days). They had a light luncheon, most of it prepared by my sister in law and her family. They had a few games, took pictures with the bride to be, and she opened a lot of nice gifts. My brother in law and my nephew came in at the end to take everything home. It was nice to see people and family members I hadn't seen in 2 or more years!

Handyman showed up at our door last night at 6. Looked over his to do list, looked at everything on the list to see what he needed or already had to fix things . He has the cement blocks and wood to fix the regular shed. He is going to jack up the back corners to level it off, as it's sunk down over the years. He is going to pull the wood shed towards the front and put a beam going from front to back as it's starting to tilt backwards. He is going to replace the storm and screen doors at the back and the front of the house, and when he has time after doing roofs, he is going to tear out the master bath and redo it all from the floor to the ceiling. We want to take the cast iron tub out and either put a walk in tub, or a big shower, want to move that whole thing to the other side of the bathroom, and put a new vanity where the tub is now. The only thing we won't replace is the toilet, since that's fairly new, but he will have to take it out to replace the floor anyhow (whoever built that bathroom, didn't level the floor so it's on a slight downward pitch, when he's done it will be straight. He loves to talk and tell us stories, so it was well after 9 when he left. He will do the sheds after work on the weekdays while it's still light out, and do the doors on a weekend. He's also going to replace our whole gutter system. He has a guy who comes out and a machine that makes them while the handyman and his brother measure and put them up. The ones on the house are at least 25 years old and it's starting to show. The black walnut trees didn't help them and I am tired of picking that stuff out of the gutters, so he will put leaf guards on them also. His list got longer the longer he stayed last nite, lol!

I have no plans for the day yet..right now it's really dark and gray out, but winds haven't started yet.

Have a nice morning everyone..

Edit--- I just got a full page ad on here, that covered the entire page of the boards, I had to close it 3x to keep it gone. I will pm a webmaster and report it later

Good morning. It is 30 here now, going up to 50. It is a dreary day so far with rain coming in this afternoon. I am heading to the house to start to clean out the minivan. I am donating it to Make A Wish. We have done that in the past with our old cars. The van is 18 years old and no longer runs. We called it the Jaspermobile as we took Jasper for rides in it. I hope to hear from my real estate agent today that the contractor will buy the house. I am so anxious and nervous about this. I am trying to keep positive thoughts but it is hard. It is hard to be optimistic about buying the condo with my house in limbo.

Have a good Sunday.

Good morning, all!

Same weather as @Snowysmom said. How nice of you donate the van, and I do hope you get news on the house!

We're going over to DH's parents' place for an early dinner today, so I'm looking forward to that.

QOTD - I tend to find my joy in the simple, quiet routines - morning coffee, sitting outside with one of the cats and reading a good book, etc.

Bad weather some where! Our flight to MCO was cancelled in wee hours of morning. We can’t get there until late tomorrow!! Trying to confirm that flight is my husband, and he’s been on hold for two hours, and I have been on hold and now taking to Disney as they hopefully can refund me for dessert party for tomorrow. We need special dispensation for that because should have been cancelled 3 days before. CM did try to book me for any day of our stay.

Gus gets another night at home with us. That’s the rainbow!🌈

Snowysmom, I hope you get the call!

Good Morning from chilly LA,

Hugs, Lynn, i am so happy you had a good time at the shower and felt comfortable. How great you were able to see some extra family from long ago. Your handyman sounds like a keeper :) Lol, our floors in this apartment sure aren't level either! Hope you keep warm and have a good Sunday, my friend.

Continued prayers, Snowysmom for good house news. How kind of you indeed to donate the minivan. Thank you for doing that.

I just love how you answered the QOTD PollyannaMom! ITA, joy is in the quiet, peacefulness, of truly being grateful for the very day in all. Simple all the way with joyous thanks always.

Big hug, Bobbiwoz on Gus.

The ads on here are becoming bigger :( Still no smilies. Oh well. Grateful we have our meeting place!

ETA: I decided (I think) to get dad an insulated lunch bag. Thanks to some dear friends, I was gifted a new one last year. I will use it God-willing one day when the world is safer and I'm able to get out to most any place I'd be at lunch time including, of course, our Quacker Family DL meet. I prefer to bring my own simple lunch. Help me find one for him on either Amazon or Walmart that would complement his Easter basket. I would want it to be zippered rather than have a Velcro closure. I thought I had found one last night that I liked but didn't save it and am not finding it now :P So far the best I've found, which, isn't much is Lunch Bag 1 and Lunch Bag 2 I am leaning toward preferring the simpler #2. But admit that neither are any great prize lol :) I'd like it to be $10 or less. I do like Shape 1 for a bag (not the high price) and that it is compact with 2 compartments. Amazon Choice is nicer. What do you think of the lighter blue with dash of pink option? Remember this would be for my dad. I'm, of course, open to any suggestions on either Amazon or Walmart. Thank you and extra hug.

Happy Sunday everyone. I'll look in later :)

Ads? I'm not seeing any ads at all.

I'm also not seeing any ants here. The stuff must have got rid of them.

@bobbiwoz -sorry your flight got cancelled. I'd say drive but it's probably pretty busy out there. Hope it all works out.

@lynxstch - sounds like a lot will be getting done!

Everybody have a great day! I'm off to do some yard cleanup.

Quick check in, will be back later. Very glad to hear you're not seeing any ants, Judique! Enjoy the no ads, of course, too. Prayers you are feeling better today, my friend.

My lunch bag preferences out of the ones I posted above I think are lunch bag 2 and Amazon choice (which I think will be the winner just need to decide between colors). Anyone want to weigh in? :)

Back to cat food - went to order wet food from Chewy for my cat that needs a urinary tract diet. The 24 pack had jumped from 26.xx to 36.xx since last month's order. I ordered it, then took a look at the price history of my orders and rebelled.

Called and canceled the order. Then I found the 5.5 oz cans on Amazon with subscribe and save for 44.xx. That's 5.67 a pound. The Chewy 3 oz cans were costing 8.66 a pound. Checked Chewy again and found the 5.5 cans for not too much more, but still almost $4 more than Amazon.

I have an upcoming vet appointment for routine stuff so will be talking about alternative ideas for this cats' food. He also happily eats the dry urinary tract food so maybe I can feed him some regular cans along with that kind. He will eat just about anything.

And, by canceling the cat food I also canceled the dog's food. So tomorrow I'll go to Target and pick some up. I have to go anyway.

I think both of them look too 'female', in fact one of them says 'girl' in the description at the top. That's just my opinion. A little hint, when I find something I like, I bookmark it and put it in favorites. Then if I can't find it on the site (let's say Amazon), I just open my favorites, go to the folder I named Amazon items,,and scroll down till I find it.

Ads on the right hand side, ads at the top, sometimes HUGE. And I am running an ad blocker and they are getting through it :(
