82 degrees, nice breeze, full sun. My guess is Ocean City is really packed this weekend, when we talk to his oldest son later we will find out. He's the manager of Harpoon Hannah's down there.

I did everything I needed to do today, including a long relaxing beauty treatment for myself

Dinner is lasagna and salad.

Have a nice evening

Good evening.

Got up this morning and DH and I drove about 30 minutes into PA to an Amish Market where we got good corn earlier this summer. Bought corn, green beans, chicken corn soup for DH for lunch, a small peach pie, and 2 warm cider donuts. Came home for lunch then I met DD for a mani/pedi. Got gel polish on my fingers for the first time. Stopped at Food Lion on the way home for a few things, including vanilla ice cream for the pie. Got Turkey Hill and had to chose between Vanilla Bean, Original Vanilla, and Homestyle Vanilla. No idea the difference. DH cut the grass while I was gone. Dinner was taco salad. Watching mindless TV for a while.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone. Raining here, 66 degrees. Yet another night of not sleeping well. :( Never heard from stepson, so don't know if he came down late last nite or changed his plans. Guess we will find out this morning.

I was so tired last nite that I ached too bad to fall asleep. Slept from 10-11, was awake till after 2..finally fell asleep and woke at 4:30, to find 2 cats staring at me cause their breakfast wasn't on time. Hubby was asleep with the tv on,,turned it off, fed the cats, and am going back to bed. Should have turned the ac on last nite, as it said it was 77 in here at midnite, but made do with the open windows and ceiling fans.

@Breezy_Carol..there is nothing better than a warm cider donut. Sounds like you found a great place to get some goodies!

Have a nice morning all,,back later to see what everyone is up to

Lynn, have you tried melatonin or something? I think sometimes we just need a help breaking out of a bad pattern. It doesn't have to be a permanent medication or anything.

Got Turkey Hill and had to chose between Vanilla Bean, Original Vanilla, and Homestyle Vanilla. No idea the difference.

I don't know what the difference is supposed to be either, but we've always bought the vanilla bean, and it's really good!

Prayers for your niece, Easyas!

Thanks! As most little kids are prone to do, she is up & ready to go w/o any hint she had a bug. I dropped her b'day gifts off to her and we made faces at each other thru the door.

It might not hurt to call the high school. The guidance counselors may know of someone who is looking, or the kids may even have a community service requirement that it would count toward.

That's a good idea!

She encouraged me to try gel nail polish

I'm not terribly girly-girly BUT for the past several years I've indulged in pedicures & manicures. I get gel manicures every 2 weeks October thru about March, then during the warmer months when I'm using my hands more often I give my nails a break. Like many others have mentioned, I can walk out of the salon w/ a regular manicure and have it fouled up in no time, but gels are great for staying in good shape.
They can be a bit of a challenge to get off yourself, especially if you aren't familiar with them.
I never was one that did a great job doing my nails myself, so I started getting them done.

The three of us plus my are making the 4 hour drive tomorrow to my brother's house for the long weekend.

Have a fun trip!

Last week, our Costco already had a sign out limiting toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, and one other thing (case of water, maybe?) to "1 per customer/household.

ugh. I need to make a Costco trip one of these days. My new freezer will be in mid-month so probably after that. I hope it's not to bad when I finally get around to getting up there.

My SIL also once told me not to break the eggs directly into the mix, but scramble them first and then add them.

I have heard that as well. I try to remember to do it when I make them.

A delicate question. Have any of you ever received a very thoughtful gift from someone close that you just did not care for?

I think a good way to approach this is thank them for the gift and set it aside. If it's not for you that's okay, you can just leave it be for a while and then donate it or give it to someone else. No need to overthink it, if you do you might find yourself feeling guilty. And you've done nothing to feel guilty over.

Dove season opened up today or was it Wednesday?

Opened here yesterday. boomboom bo BOOM from the surrounding farms. The fellow who manages our farm for us has a huge field of sunflowers up for the season and I think a bunch of people were over there for his big opening day to-do. Husband and boys go on occasion, but they are doing a big fishing tournament today so they were concentrating on getting ready for that. I think bow starts in a week or so around here judging by all the targets that have sprung up in everyones back yards (ours included) !

t has been a bit cool here lately, a hint of Fall to come. Fall is my favorite season.

Agreed, and our weather has also been giving us a glimpse of the upcoming season, although last night the humidity started to creep back in and so we put the AC back on. As I was driving back from a meeting down near the DE shore Friday I noticed all the farm stands I pass have their pumpkins & mums out. I was sorely temped but didn't stop!

vanilla ice cream for the pie. Got Turkey Hill and had to chose between Vanilla Bean, Original Vanilla, and Homestyle Vanilla. No idea the difference

I don't know the difference either, I just try to stay away from the ones that -in tiny letters on bottom - actually say they are 'Frozen Dairy Dessert' not even actual ice cream.

Have a nice morning all,,back later to see what everyone is up to

You as well. I sincerely hope you can find a way to get a proper nights sleep-for yourself & your husband.

Well it's not quite 8 AM EST here but we've been up since about 5:45 in our house. No real reason for it, just that no one could sleep any later I guess. We've enjoyed a lazy morning so far, coffee and enjoying the quite morning. I'm going to get around to making breakfast here shortly. Gotta straighten up the house, finish up the laundry - just the usual around the house odds & ends. At some point I've got to pack since we leave for a few days this evening. Early flight out tomorrow, so headed to the airport hotel tonight but no idea when we will actually go. Before dinner? After dinner? Dinner there? I guess we will figure it out when we get to that point in the day! We do have a little bit of mowing to do, I got everything done yesterday except the front yard since my husband was repainting the front door, ought not take one of us more than 20 or 30 minutes to finish that bit.

Maybe I'll dig out a few of my fall decorations? There aren't a lot, a few faux pumpkins and a table runner. But still, I'm feeling like it's time. I don't really decorate for Halloween - I'm not anti-Halloween, I'm just not terribly into it. And we've never really lived where kids go trick or treating so I've never had to prepare for little kids to come a knocking, so I never really got into decorating for it. I do enjoy the 4-6 weeks of various 'scary'/haunted/halloween themed television that comes with it, though! My husband got excited - yesterday he saw the commercial for 31 days of Halloween starting next month.

I guess I should at least go retrieve the suitcase from wherever I put it last. And get around to making some breakfast.

Dinner tonight? Who knows!

Have a good holiday weekend everyone.

Its 70 and raining on and off here,,just a blah day. Haven't heard one word from stepson, so don't know if his plans changed and he's not coming down or what. I managed to clean the computer room from top to bottom , and then vacuumed every room in the house. Was going to wash the kitchen floor, but will save that for tomorrow when the rain stops. Will wash the rugs then. Defrosting some prime rib burgers for dinner. Was going to make that creamy BLT pasta salad, but I'm too tired to do it today, will do it tomorrow and have it with cowboy ribeyes.
I am off to sit and relax and not move for at least 30 minutes. Have a nice afternoon

I am sorry to have vanished yesterday pretty much! I did miss all of you! I ended up spending some of the afternoon being Santa’s very early helper! I found just enough leftover Christmas wrapping paper from last year that I used to wrap most of the gifts to be mailed by me that I already have. Right now, I am just waiting for the ten magnets which I pray will arrive as ordered! It was fun to get to customize the photos for them. I also finally finished a printed out password list that I compiled into paper protectors inside a binder for dad and I. That was a big undertaking. So glad to be done! I am enjoying a much more restful Sunday. I shall watch online worship which always brings me such joy later :)

Hug, Kirby, I am so glad the VCR/DVD is now working! I’m even more thankful to hear Mike is doing better! Thank you for keeping us updated. How is Lil Joe feeling?

Wow you had a busy morning, Carol. I hope you can relax now and will enjoy your ice cream treat. To me the difference between the vanillas is for one, I don’t like vanilla bean (sorry friend, PollyannaMom), because it somehow tastes spicy to me—yes I know how weird a thing to say about ice cream that is but it does! I would think home-style vanilla might be creamier than the original version. Otherwise I have no clue there! I do remember years ago Breyers made Extra Creamy Chocolate which was amazingly good! It had an extra flavor of sweet smoothness that the regular chocolate lacked so maybe the home-style vanilla is similar? Which one did you end up getting? 🍦

Many prayers, you got some better rest last night, Lynn! I also sure hope your stepson will show up and be a good support later today, my friend. Thank for the Mickey and Walt picture cheer! May you sit and relax MUCH longer than 30 minutes!

Hooray that your niece is feeling better, Easyas. I agree that kids have a way of bouncing back pretty quickly which is wonderful :) I hope she had a fun birthday! Thank you (and everyone else) for your kind advice. I did PM a couple of Quackers about the gift. Depending on their replies, I may still have the items to offer, so if you would like more info please do PM me or even just to say “hi.”

Sunday :grouphug: to all.

I think bow starts in a week or so around here judging by all the targets that have sprung up in everyones back yards (ours included) !
Bow season starts here in October with gun season starting November. I heard from DH last night and he said the hunting was not good, hardly any birds. The farmers had already turned over their dirt and there were no sunflower fields around plus the dove tend to fly when a cold front passes through. This was a new place for them to go, doubt they will return. At least he was able to get away for a couple of days.

How is Lil Joe feeling?
He's been feeling pretty good. He's with his dad this weekend so we'll see him either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Had more people in Sunday School today. Another church member died from Covid. Our area is still considered red, we have a medical tent next to our city hall for Covid patients being treated with infusions so they can stay out of the hospital. We also have a medical tent outside of our hospital for Covid cases that are not emergencies.

Good afternoon.

Went to church then a couple of quick stops after. Now getting ready for DD and family to come for a cookout. Kind of dreary grey day but will still be fun.

@Snowysmom, re: dogs passing. Tessa was only 3 when Grace passed but she loved Grace. She would continually ask where Grace was. This past week she asked again but wanted specifics of how she died and what it looked like. It was hard to answer to a 4.5 year old.

I don't know what the difference is supposed to be either, but we've always bought the vanilla bean, and it's really good!
Such a conundrum.

'Frozen Dairy Dessert' not even actual ice cream.
That is why we avoid Breyers.

Which one did you end up getting?
Original Vanilla. It was tasty as was the pie.

Better go and devil the eggs.

Stepson finally texted around 2 that he would be here shortly. Guess he came down late last nite, spent time with friends, and went to breakfast with them this morning. His Mother has been here in town for the last 2 weeks visiting friends..so he just left to go out to dinner with her. It's nice that he got to see both of his parents in one trip. She lives in Myrtle Beach, so he doesn't get that way often. It was good to see him for a few hours. He is going to stop by on his way out of town tomorrow morning to say goodbye.
Off to figure out something for dinner--still raining on and off here

Original Vanilla
Creamy premium ice cream with the rich flavor of vanilla.

Vanilla Bean
All natural vanilla ice cream with vanilla bean specks.

Homemade Vanilla
All natural vanilla ice cream with a classic homemade taste.

I don't know what the difference is supposed to be either, but we've always bought the vanilla bean, and it's really good!

....this is why Oregon's Tillamook is always the best choice
