Prayers for your niece, Easyas!
Thanks! As most little kids are prone to do, she is up & ready to go w/o any hint she had a bug. I dropped her b'day gifts off to her and we made faces at each other thru the door.
It might not hurt to call the high school. The guidance counselors may know of someone who is looking, or the kids may even have a community service requirement that it would count toward.
That's a good idea!
She encouraged me to try gel nail polish
I'm not terribly girly-girly BUT for the past several years I've indulged in pedicures & manicures. I get gel manicures every 2 weeks October thru about March, then during the warmer months when I'm using my hands more often I give my nails a break. Like many others have mentioned, I can walk out of the salon w/ a regular manicure and have it fouled up in no time, but gels are great for staying in good shape.
They can be a bit of a challenge to get off yourself, especially if you aren't familiar with them.
I never was one that did a great job doing my nails myself, so I started getting them done.
The three of us plus my are making the 4 hour drive tomorrow to my brother's house for the long weekend.
Have a fun trip!
Last week, our Costco already had a sign out limiting toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, and one other thing (case of water, maybe?) to "1 per customer/household.
ugh. I need to make a Costco trip one of these days. My new freezer will be in mid-month so probably after that. I hope it's not to bad when I finally get around to getting up there.
My SIL also once told me not to break the eggs directly into the mix, but scramble them first and then add them.
I have heard that as well. I try to remember to do it when I make them.
A delicate question. Have any of you ever received a very thoughtful gift from someone close that you just did not care for?
I think a good way to approach this is thank them for the gift and set it aside. If it's not for you that's okay, you can just leave it be for a while and then donate it or give it to someone else. No need to overthink it, if you do you might find yourself feeling guilty. And you've done nothing to feel guilty over.
Dove season opened up today or was it Wednesday?
Opened here yesterday. boomboom bo BOOM from the surrounding farms. The fellow who manages our farm for us has a huge field of sunflowers up for the season and I think a bunch of people were over there for his big opening day to-do. Husband and boys go on occasion, but they are doing a big fishing tournament today so they were concentrating on getting ready for that. I think bow starts in a week or so around here judging by all the targets that have sprung up in everyones back yards (ours included) !
t has been a bit cool here lately, a hint of Fall to come. Fall is my favorite season.
Agreed, and our weather has also been giving us a glimpse of the upcoming season, although last night the humidity started to creep back in and so we put the AC back on. As I was driving back from a meeting down near the DE shore Friday I noticed all the farm stands I pass have their pumpkins & mums out. I was sorely temped but didn't stop!
vanilla ice cream for the pie. Got Turkey Hill and had to chose between Vanilla Bean, Original Vanilla, and Homestyle Vanilla. No idea the difference
I don't know the difference either, I just try to stay away from the ones that -in tiny letters on bottom - actually say they are 'Frozen Dairy Dessert' not even actual ice cream.
Have a nice morning all,,back later to see what everyone is up to
You as well. I sincerely hope you can find a way to get a proper nights sleep-for yourself & your husband.
Well it's not quite 8 AM EST here but we've been up since about 5:45 in our house. No real reason for it, just that no one could sleep any later I guess. We've enjoyed a lazy morning so far, coffee and enjoying the quite morning. I'm going to get around to making breakfast here shortly. Gotta straighten up the house, finish up the laundry - just the usual around the house odds & ends. At some point I've got to pack since we leave for a few days this evening. Early flight out tomorrow, so headed to the airport hotel tonight but no idea when we will actually go. Before dinner? After dinner? Dinner there? I guess we will figure it out when we get to that point in the day! We do have a little bit of mowing to do, I got everything done yesterday except the front yard since my husband was repainting the front door, ought not take one of us more than 20 or 30 minutes to finish that bit.
Maybe I'll dig out a few of my fall decorations? There aren't a lot, a few faux pumpkins and a table runner. But still, I'm feeling like it's time. I don't really decorate for Halloween - I'm not anti-Halloween, I'm just not terribly into it. And we've never really lived where kids go trick or treating so I've never had to prepare for little kids to come a knocking, so I never really got into decorating for it. I do enjoy the 4-6 weeks of various 'scary'/haunted/halloween themed television that comes with it, though! My husband got excited - yesterday he saw the commercial for 31 days of Halloween starting next month.
I guess I should at least go retrieve the suitcase from wherever I put it last. And get around to making some breakfast.
Dinner tonight? Who knows!
Have a good holiday weekend everyone.
