Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I will email it to you, Carol in a few minutes. So glad you had a nice outing :)

Lynn, not sure the laughing emoticon was the best choice but it fits. He tried but it sounds like he definitely should have measured more carefully! I hope the rail gets done right later today :)

Yes , it was the perfect emoticon..and Nope, not finished, , its a to be continued tomorrow project..and it has to be finished tomorrow as he goes back on the road with the railroad to GA on Sunday. He got 4 of the 6 holes drilled in the concrete, but he went through 4 cement drill bits..and made one of the holes too big for the size screws they got. They are going to pick up more screws and bits tomorrow..and try to have it finished while I am at the hospital. We left his tools and the wood and stuff in the shed, where they can get at it easy tomorrow. But I still have no clue how he ever worked on construction,,but this handrail will be the one and only thing he ever builds for our house,,lol!

I am off to find something to eat,,and then relax.
Have a nice evening!

Hello and evening greetings to all.

pollyannamom- so glad to hear your son is home and there is a plan in place.

tazdev- thankfully you were able to get things figured out for the shoes. The red tape and all the ”hoop jumping” is very frustrating for sure.

sweetpeama- sorry to hear things are not going so well. It’s very difficult when you are not on the same parenting page as your spouse/partner.

biancandBernard- that sounds like a great plan for your son

I saw a friend tonight who i have known my entire life…really, I can’t remember a time of not knowing her. We grew up a block from each other and have stayed in contact. It had been two years, so I was very thankful to spend some time with her.

Have a good night everyone.

Been busy the last two days, I'll be back to catch up when I get a chance but wanted to give a sneak peek on the flowers my friend and I are working on for a 50th anniversary party tomorrow(Saturday). I know most of us like flower pics. :lovestruc I'll share finished centerpiece pictures when I come back.

I think there are 12 arrangements in this picture, 2 smaller ones not pictured, and 2 larger ones we need to work on tomorrow morning before delivery and set up. Just love the colors. :lovestruc

Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Good morning everyone!
@AuntieMe3, Hi! Nice to see you posting. Those arrangements are beautiful--good job! Hope the anniversary party goes well!

Was almost midnite when I finally was able to turn my brain off and sleep. Had the Olympic opening ceremony playing and it finally put me to sleep. Woke at 3:55 to one of the cats sitting by my ear alternately purring and meowing at me. Need another hour or 2 of sleep.

Its 63 out now, but going to 85, and then the 90's start creeping back in. They say hot and humid for the next 10 days, with not much chance of rain :(

Have a nice morning all,,back later this afternoon to see if we have a finished handrail outside the back door or not, lol!

Waving Good Morning friends,

Wow what a Blessing, Frog to have such a lifelong friend :)

Gorgeous flowers, AuntieMe3! Have a wonderful celebration tomorrow! :)

Hug, Lynn, and keep cool. I sure hope the handrail gets properly and safely completed today,

Seems overcast and a bit cooler here right now, anyway here. Will heat up later. Hard to believe it will soon be August! Will be putting up more green paper tomorrow. Now to start thinking about what else to put on the new walls :)

Happy Saturday :grouphug: to all

Good afternoon. Quiet on this thread today. I guess we are all starting to have a life.

@frog3101, so nice you got to see your life long friend.

@AuntieMe3, I love those colors too. The flowers are beautiful.

@lynxstch, how many steps does DH have to go up where the handrail is being built? For one or two steps I always suggested a grab bar next to the door. Wouldn't work for more steps. We have one in our garage.

No plans for the day yet.

Just 1 step. We already had a grab bar there, but PT said a handrail leading up to the grab bar would give him more support. The whole handrail only had to be about 34 inches long.

I am home..its cloudy and 85 degrees..slight chance of a shower, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it. The handrail is up, not perfect but its up. Its off center at the top under the grab bar,,and no where near level anyplace except the top railing. When our handyman puts our new doors in , I will have him fix it correctly. At least Mr L will have some support going up the steps.

He only had 35 min of PT today, as there is only one person there to do all the patients. But he walked the 30 foot thing 3x , better than he did yesterday, then he sat on the bike and pedaled (legs only) for 4 minutes which was a mile. Strengthening those leg muscles for sure. I was talking to the PT guy Kevin and he said it's been 5 years since insurance paid for the walker, so we might be able to get Medicare and Aetna to pay for a wheelchair, just in case it's needed. And he thinks Mr L needs to do a lot more work, so he is going to send his notes to the meeting they will have on Monday about discharging him Tuesday and hope it will help persuade them that he needs another week. Just have to say prayers that they all agree.

I have laundry in, am going to change the sheets and take a bath, and then find some dinner and then relax. Had an issue with the Tivo this morning,,it went off and restarted 4x in half an hour. I called and for some reason only a 10 min wait for a tech. He said he was going to send a signal through our lines, which would reboot everything, but didn't wait for me to finish telling him that our landline goes through the modem (which I called them on), and we would lose phone too. But he did it too fast. I made sure the computer and modem were rebooted, then had to leave..so far the Tivo is staying on..so maybe that helped it

Have a nice rest of the afternoon and evening all!

Happy Saturday evening!

My Saturday began on a sad note. My sister is upset with me once again, she's also upset with her two children. Her ex father in law died this week and none of us asked if she would like to ride with us to his funeral. She called me this morning and asked if we were going to the funeral. I asked her if she was going and she said she wasn't, that she didn't want to go by herself (her husband was working). She then told me that her son flew in last night and didn't ask her if she would like to ride with him and her daughter waited until this morning to see if she were going. I didn't contact her, we only decided last night to go, because I never know what kind of response I am going to get. When I offered for her to ride with us she said that she didn't have enough time to get ready. She doesn't like that my DH keeps up with her ex and that he was a pall bearer for both of our parents. Even though they fought like cats and dogs, she was married to her ex for 27 years before she left him. My kids still call him uncle and DH and I really do like him. She's been married to a nice guy for 10 years now but can't let her ex go, always complaining about him to me.

Her last comment before hanging up on me was that once, again, no one was thinking about her. I do feel bad for not contacting her to see if she were going. But then, again, if she really wanted to go, couldn't she have contacted me yesterday?

I knew it was coming, my sister gets mad at me a couple times a year. I'm so glad we are done going through our mom's things and everything has been dispersed. It makes me sad......

The funeral was at the graveside. His son-in-law did the service, he sounds just like a country preacher. Had a lot of entertaining memories of his FIL. Instead of a spray of flowers over the coffin they had draped a crocheted blanket, probably one he used, over it with his picture, his cowboy hat and a small flower arrangement on top. Inside was a small picture he had painted, his glasses and his Bible. It was a nice service.

Stopped by a produce stand after the funeral and picked up some tomatoes and a cantaloupe. I've been doing some laundry and the afternoon has flown by.

Dinner tonight was chili dogs. Lou Lou hasn't been eating too much since Lil Joe has been gone but she ate half a piece of bread with mustard, two hot dogs and two helpings of chili, cheese and chips. She just finished a small bowl of ice cream. Don't know where she puts it all.

Not even 7 am and everyone in my house is awake. I ended up waking up about 4:30 this morning, 13 year old woke around 5:15, and DH and 16 year old both got up a bit ago or in 16 year old's case she wandered upstairs. I have just been informed she is not staying up though. 13 year old got her laundry into the washer under my supervision but she did put all the settings I told her to do. She had such a small amount that it was not worth splitting it into items that have to be washed on the delicate cycle and items that can be washed on the regular cycle so saving energy and washing it all on the delicate cycle. I figure that it takes the same amount of electricity to run it for a small load as it does for a large load so when we can we try and run larger loads. I was debating about taking 13 year old over to the zoo this morning but since it is predicted to only be one degree different at opening time tomorrow and there will be less people being that it is Sunday instead of Saturday I am planning on waiting until then or seeing what the time predicted tempature is for Monday. I use the *** app for the weather and it does give an hourly tempature prediction and if it is going to be cloudy with areas of smoke, rain or sun for the next 48 hours along with the daily high and low for 10 days out.
Starting August 2 until September 15 the larger city we live outside of is going on stage 1 water restrictions. The restriction is if you have city water you can not water your lawn on Mondays and that is going to include the city parks. People are being asked to not over water on Tuesday to make up for not being allowed to water on Monday otherwise the news has reported that additional restrictions may be necessary including assigned days to water according to property numbers. The comments on facebook to the links to the articles for both news stations is full of I pay for my water and I will water when I want to and with the growth another treatment plant should have been built years ago whining. Meanwhile we have been only watering our garden areas from the wells on the property along with some irrigation watering of the pastures. The lawns are being very limited watered to keep the grass from completely dying where a non drought resistant one was planted cough my brother and my sister cough. Parents put in a drought resistant grass over 45 years ago and mine well due to being told that we will help you put in an underground sprinkler system so wait to plant your grass and it still not being done after 12 years in this house we just had the pasture grass grow back so it is fairly drought resistant as well but I have alfalfae in bloom in my yard and it looks so pretty with nice purple flowers.
My aunt posted this poem from Jeff Carson on Facebook and I wanted to share it with you

There's no water on the mountain,
The springs have all run dry.
There's no feed for the cattle,
Don't know how they'll ever get by.

There won't be no second cutting,
If the weather stays this hot.
It's going to be mighty hard,
Gettin' by on what we've got!

There's no rain in the forecast,
Last winter brought little snow.
So there wasn't much of a run off,
Leaving our reservoirs mighty low.

Now it's hot and dry and dusty,
The west is in a drought.
And it'll take Divine intervention,
To ever pull us out.

These western lands are burning,
Gray smoke has filled the skies.
We had hoped for containment,
But They're growing now in size.

I sure do hate complaining,
But we're really in a bind.
We could use your prayers for rain,
If you are the praying kind.

If you're the praying kind,
Pray that our streams will flow.
We'll pray for rain this summer,
This winter we'll pray for snow.
