Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I think we can all agree it’s just so sad to see us going back to things like masks and closures again. Our governor says we won’t, but things can change in the course of a few weeks, so who knows.
I was talking to my friend today about the Delta variant and she told me that she and her husband have begun wearing their masks again while out in public. They are vaccinated but would rather be safe than sorry.

Congratulations and thank you to your DD, Pea for beginning her nursing education. She sure has a wonderful role model (and nurse to look to) in you!

Thank you, Carol. I finished the story. Let me know if you'd like to read it and I'll email it to you in the morning :)

Hugs Kirby and to all! As I shared yesterday, I truly had thought a month ago we were closer to the end of this mess! That doesn't seem to be the case right now. However that can absolutely change within weeks. One thing that will never change is that God is with us!

I may not pop back on again this evening so wishing all you dear Quackers sweet dreams!

Very glad to read some good things happening for members of the Quacker flock, their family members, and pet family members.
I’m 🙈🙉🙊 when it comes to all the new COVID news and just most news in general. It is so depressing to me most of the time. I specifically go in search of sites that only post positive stories at least once a week to remind myself there is good out there, even if I have to dig to see it sometimes. I do pay attention to the COVID news enough to be informed, but then I have to move on.
Still on track for heat indexes to be close to or over 100 in the next few days. Ick.
It’s been hazy here for the last couple of days due to wildfires to the west. I,pray they are able to get them contained soon.
have a good night everyone.

Good morning everyone. A nice cool 53 out now, but going to 85 again. Back into mid 90's next week..yuck! And still no rain in sight. I hate to see our water and sewer bill next month after all the watering I have had to do...

@Pea-n-Me Congratulations to your daughter on deciding on her career. Nothing but the best of luck to her!
@frog3101, Sorry about your hot weather..and the fires, hopefully they get them contained soon!

@flyingdumbo127--I like that color green Mona, your room is going to look very calm, yet cheerful, when you are finished!

Stepdaughter decided to start texting me at 8 last nite about her hubbys plan for our handrail out back. One 5 minute phone call while they were at Lowes, with a picture would have been better than texting back and forth till after 9. He wants to make something ornate, we want something that is simple and sturdy, that's all! Her hubby goes back on the road starting Sunday, so he is either going to have to do this today or tomorrow, and he's not known for being the fastest person when he does something, so we shall see.

Hubby was feeling pretty good last nite, the younger son called him and had him laughing with stories of their trip to Colorado last week, and that cheered him up a lot.

Off to feed the furbabies and lay down for another hour. Woke up at 2 with all kinds of thoughts running through my head with 'what if's, if they do say they are going to discharge him Tuesday,,that's only a few days away, and PT doesn't do much on the weekends. :(

Have a nice morning all~~

I couldn't get an exception to go in early to be with DS this morning, so I am at home "walking" the cat. I hope he is napping right now, as he gets anxious with nobody there. ☹

I know your frustrated feeling. We can't stay overnite in our hospital either..and they will not let anyone past the screening desk until 10 exactly,,and they make a sweep of the rooms at 8 to make sure everyone has left. They let me in 10 min early , once,,when there was noone else in line, but that was it. Hope he's doing better today!

Ok - going to try to catch up somewhat!

I think my mattress is getting old and soft so time to shop for a new one.
Oy! Same here! We've tried new mattress pads, different types, but it's not good enough. We need to mattress shop, but like the fact that we also need to shop for a new TV stand and a new dining room table & chairs - we've been putting it off!

the big ads are gone

I'm still seeing them, but not everytime like before at least!

I ordered 5 dresses online from Macy's trying to find "the one" for the wedding. Will try on and return a bunch.

Honestly, sometimes that is the only way to do it. Hope one of them is 'the one'!

and then after that I'm off until Aug. 2nd!

Oh - that sounds nice!

We started the pantry clean out and decided we need new containers for organization,

I need to do that, too. I did clear every single thing off of my fridge and clean it inside and out. I'm thinking of keeping it completely bare. I'm kinda liking the minimalist look.

We went to a family reunion last weekend

Two different factions of my husbands family hold reunions in August & September. The one we usually go to is off again this year. I'm wondering if they will even bring it back at all???

It is not cancer according to the Path. report.

Excellent news!

The primary dr. needs to fill it out. Well the primary dr. passed away, he has nothing at all to do with the diabetes or feet since he sees 2 specialists for that, and we can't even begin to figure out how to get a new primary

I wonder if you could just call the insurance and ask them what they WOULD accept in lieu of primary care Dr. sign off as you currently do not have one? I'd give that a try.

, I am going to make a BLT for dinner.

BLT's are in our immediate future as well, tomatoes are coming in hot & fast! Glad I got my stash of freezer bags ready!

Then in November, he is going to go to work where DH works, as a intern drafter

Good to hear. The trades are really hurting for young blood.

Grilled cheese (kid-style for me, though) is a staple favorite here

Now I'm curious? What's 'kid-style' grilled cheese? I ask because I only know of one 'style' of grilled cheese so I'm curious as to what I've been missing. Can't go wrong with a grilled cheese!

Here are two pictures of the completed smallest section of my bedroom wall!

Looks good, really like that shade of green.

she was accepted into graduate school this week and will start her classes in the fall

Nice! Congrats to her.

It’s been hazy here for the last couple of days due to wildfires to the west

We've had a lot of haze here in eastern MD, evidently from the fires-at least according to the weather chickie- and it constantly looks like it's going to rain (which we need) but doesn't.

Hubby was feeling pretty good last nite, the younger son called him and had him laughing with stories of their trip to Colorado last week, and that cheered him up a lot.

Oh good. I think the mental component of recovering is just as important as the physical, so a good laugh and conversation with his son I bet went a long way. I know it would with me if I was in the same position as Mr. L!

So let's see....uh, not much besides the usual going on with us. Got a family dinner on Sunday which we are hosting. I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon, cut-cut, going really short. Then going to the grocery store...yes, it is exciting to be me :lmao:

Those of you traveling over the next month or two, a few words of advice. Always have a cooler with drinks and snacks in the car. we hit major traffic at 3pm in the afternoon around Baltimore Maryland and again in the eastern panhandale of WV. Later in the evening, we stopped on the Pennsylvania turnpike and the Starbucks, Auntie Anne’s pretzels, and the pizza place were all closed - not enough workers - so had to grab a soda and crackers from mini mart. Then around 9:15pm, the Wendy’s was closed due to a worker shortage they closed earlier in the evening , usually they are open till midnight. there were 8 other cars coming thru the drive thru with us, all the lights were still on. So we all went across the intersection to the Mc Donalds or Arby’s. Glad to be home and get some healthier food. Have a great Friday !

From Thursday
Once again my DH has decided to reward 16 year old for not minding me. She got her paycheck on Tuesday and since we did not make a special trip into town on Wednesday he took her in early today to put her check in the bank. This is after I mentioned to him that because she doesn't have bills she needs to pay from her paycheck that she can be made to wait until she gets those things done. The original list was look through 13 year old's microwave cooking project book and help me pick out what recipes to take to fair-trying to keep things that we can stick more to items that can be served cold because the judges do taste the items-they didn't last year but we need to be prepared for them to do so this year and personally I would not be happy to taste macaroni and cheese or as the book calls it cheesy macaroni or sloppy joes cold nor chicken nuggets. I know that some people will eat those cold as I have seen kids eat the lunchables ones cold but for me it's a huge nope. The cat box cleaned which was the deal when we got the cats and decided to let them be indoor/outdoor cats that she would clean the box along with making sure they are fed and watered. 13 year old has taken over the feeding and making sure the water bowl if filled but developmentally does not understand cleaning the box. I am not asking her to clean the back entry/laundry room/storage room that I have cleaned at least 3 different times just the cat box. 16 year old is so darn concerned over she might have to do more than 13 year old does even though 13 year old is about 5.5/6 years old developmentally at best and does more for her ability according to 16 year old's best friend. We lost a lot of ground during the lockdown and initial reopening with 13 year old's communication as she was not having to communicate with strangers or even extended family and friends so since she knows she can just for the most part help herself to stuff in the house instead of using either her signing or communication app on her ipad to let us know for example she wants a glass of milk. We are trying to get out a bit more so that she can start to use her ipad to communicate but even going at slower times due to short staffing servers don't seem to be as patient about waiting for her to use a device to order and just want me to order something for her or have her just point at what she wants.
Hopefully that will change soon as Governor Gianfonte has issued a report people who have interviews scheduled and who do not show to the department of labor and industry unimployment insurance division and if anyone who is claiming unemployment is doing this than they can loose their unemployment for refusing to actively look for and accept employment. Now this doesn't mean that you have to apply for a position as a fry cook at a fast food place when you were working as an office manager but if does mean you have to apply for office manager, receptionist, and those types of jobs and if you apply for any job you have to attend any interviews and accept the work if it is offered to you Though if you get one of those door to door sales commission type jobs and don't have any sales it really doesn't affect your unemployment because all you have to do is say you worked 1 hour and made 1 dollar at least that is what I was told to do the couple of times that I was on unemployment years ago and ended up with those types of jobs. Of course I did have to continue to look for full time employment while I was still getting my full amount of unemployment as I was not working enough or making enough to have it cut any.

Good Morning 🐥

I agree with you, Frog! We are way too bombarded on a ton of media fronts by constant Covid news most of which is negative. I have both a relative and some friends who are constantly tuning in during multiple times a day. To me that’s just not all that healthy especially to be watching later at night. Stay cool, friend! Enjoy some ice cream or another summertime treat.

Thank you, Lynn! Hooray for your DH’s youngest son! Sounds like his call gave your DH exactly the cheer he needed :) Hugs, that is one reason why I always turn off my cell phone early each evening by 8pm the latest! I enjoy a phone and computer free later evening. Prayers the hospital does not discharge your DH on Tuesday! I agree that it’s too soon! Perhaps a week from Tuesday but not this coming Tuesday! Let him continue to gain both confidence and strength!

Thank you so much, PollyannaMom. I will let you know. I completed the story thanks to you and Carol last night. Let me know if you’d like to read it. I’ll email. Many hugs, my friend and continued prayers for your son!

LOL, Easyas, come the great day it is safe for ME to go to the grocery store, that will be very exciting! I never thought to say that, of course! Kid (or Mona)-preferred grilled cheese is exactly what it sounds like” white bread+ Kraft single American cheese) Nothing else but a dash of butter in the frying pan.

Welcome home, Sparkle! I do hope you enjoyed your trip. That is great on the road snack advice.

Just a  Sweetpeama.

Good reminder!
We always grab a cooler of drinks and a snack bag for trips. Cooler usually has some bottles of water, soda and tea, and some veggies (prepackged baby carrots, etc). For the snack bag: nuts, granola bars, Sahale snacks, beef jerky, and sometimes something bad for us, like DingDongs, lol. Buying in bulk beforehand helps keep the impulse gas station buying to a minimum.

We also have a couple of thin blankets in the back always, in case someone gets cold or wants to nap.

84 and sunny here..not muggy though, so it's tolerable. Just got home. He had OT at 9 this morning and PT at 10:30, so he was done for the day by lunch. And he was tired today for some reason, and his ankle is bothering him. But the arm pain went down from a 9 to a 4 so at least there's some progress there. He asked the Dr this morning if they could continue the antibiotic to make sure this didn't come back again. Dr says yes. Nurse comes in this afternoon, and when I mention it to her, she says oh..wound care told me today was the last day for it. I said well I am tired of he said , she said, so tell the wound care lady to talk to the Dr, and then have the Dr talk to Mr L tomorrow morning. One person says one thing, another says a different thing, and the nurse was caught in the middle of it.

Stepdaughter and son in law are at Lowes and then heading here to work on the handrail, but I still have no idea what his plans are for it to look like and he hasn't measured, so that is going to be a good trick? LOL!

also..I just sent another PM to webmaster corey..as the big ads are back again, everytime I open this board :( They all say they are google ads

Beautiful weather today. AC still off. DH and I decided to bike ride today. Rode the C&D Canal trail. Rode 5 miles to Delaware City and had lunch at Crabby Dick's. We each had a bowl of crab soup and shared a small order of crab balls. Then we rode back. It was a nice day.

I agree.

Then going to the grocery store...yes, it is exciting to be me
After our ride we went to Home Depot and Kohls so we are right up there on the excitement level.

@sparkle78, thanks for the PSA about packing snacks and drinks. We usually do but will definitely the next few trips.

Let me know if you’d like to read it.
I would like to.

Last night's dinner was a Blue Apron pork roast with fingerling potatoes and sugar snap bees. I think I'll save the last one until tomorrow and have spaghetti tonight.

LOL someone needs to teach my son in law the old adage..measure 3x, then measure again, then cut. He measured, he cut..it was wrong..he cut again, the board split..good thing they brought an extra 4 x 4.. apparently the wood at Lowes these days isn't top quality. He has the top and bottom posts cut,,and they got a decorative top railing (all pressure treated), and brackets for the 4 x 4's. He started to drill the holes into the cement to put the bolts in..and burned out the bit after the second hole..so they just left to go to Ace Hardware and get another one. I said buy 2 or 3..you can always return them or keep them. Since we are paying for materials anyhow, it makes no difference to me. Hopefully they come back soon and he can get this done before dark! And the sad part is, before he started working for the railroad,,he was working construction,,lol!

Good evening everyone

It was such a pleasant day today. Low 80's and no humidity with a pleasant breeze. I went to my swim club for the 1st time in 2 years to meet up with a friend. It felt great to be out and seeing people in person. Plus we were outside enjoying the pleasant weather.

The shoe fiasco may have been resolved after many phone calls. The place that makes the shoes kept saying my primary had to sign off on it to me. My husband called and they told him it's the endocrinologist. That was NOT what they told me. He called the doctor who said they would fax the paper work AGAIN. They sent faxed it originally about 3 weeks ago. I called today and was told they received the paperwork but they are still missing 2 things. Called the doctor's office again and left a message. They called back and told me they sent everything that was asked for TWICE already but would send it again. They faxed the exact same paperwork again. The shoe place calls my husband and says we have everything now the shoes will take about 2 weeks. Someone is not doing their job right. What annoys me is that if I didn't call yesterday we would never have known there was an issue. Of course the doctors office blames the shoe supplier. The shoe supplier blames medicare and the doctors office. I wish there was somewhere else we could go to next year but since these shoes have to be custom made they are the only place around. At least it seems to be resolved. Now to figure out how to find a new primary.

Hope everyone else with medical issues is doing ok and getting answers.
