Bump up. Last thread on P.1

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I straightened up some papers and found a poem my dad wrote for us in 1973 for Children's Day before my youngest brother was even born. My dad was/is a gifted writer. Also found some poems I wrote in college. Trip down memory lane.

Will do some more tomorrow in preparation for trash day. I want to start prepping the downstairs for painting, new flooring and some added electrics. Lots to do this summer.

I have power recliners and we couldn't find the dog yesterday. We could hear her crying though. Thankfully I never fully put the seat in an upright position, she was trapped.

Have a good Sunday

That's our worry with hubby's power lift chair. We are afraid one of the cats is going to get stuck under it. Glad you didn't have it fully upright and you got your furbaby out!

I take care because right after my husband had the strokes our cat Barbossa had an accident in my husband's loveseat. He was stuck somehow and panicking to get out. My husband was still not very clear headed and lowered the seat to find him Sadly we lost Bossa. I will never tell my husband it was his fault as it truly was a tragic accident and I don't know for sure what happened but yeah, I think my husband had a hand in the death. The dog has never gone behind the footrest of my sofa so I don't know what she was doing there. I need the power for my knee but I need to take extra care again. Sneaky little furbabies.

Back from the Cape. DH and I drove down to Bourne National Cemetery this morning to pick up flags from Memorial Day. This is the “before” picture from one section:

We go almost every year. DH knows the guy who organizes it, and it sadly had to be skipped last year, so it was nice to see it back on.

Afterward we drove a few minutes more to Falmouth and had lunch at the Pickle Jar. We are on a quest this summer to try a bunch of places near us that were on the “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” TV show. We definitely enjoyed this one! Between us we had the basil chicken sandwich, the village green sandwich, and of course fried pickles:

16 year old has decided that I am the wicked witch of the West and then some. She kept saying that she would help clean out that refridgerator yesterday. She couldn't for a while because she had her D and D game and then she had to eat followed by by the time I found my glasses it was already dark. I was nice I didn't start calling her until 7:30 this morning when I could have called her at 5:30 when sunrise was or even better at 4:30 am when a cat woke me up because he wanted to go outside. Changed his mind when he discovered that grandma was going to head into the bathroom as he wanted a drink from the edge of the tub. So it became a trip grandma and then go meow at the door to be let out.
Finally gave up about 8:15 and started on working on the fridge myself but did call her again for the 3rd time around 8:30 and that finally got her upstairs. Amazingly when she says she needs the help DH can get up and do something. 16 year old worked for a little over an hour and then went back to bed as she had gotten only 2 hours of sleep. Well who's fault is that she choose to play her new switch game all night. Is it mine, I don't think so.
Finally was able to call my dad to come over with the skiddy and load the old fridge into the bucket to take it over to the shop about 10:30 not bad for I wanted it gone over 2 weeks ago or was it 3 and I wanted to have him come over at the latestest between 9:30 and 10 am this morning. Ended up with DH attatching the appliance dolly onto it with some help on keeping the strap from falling from me while he got it through the handle of the fridge part and then went on the ground to stand on the outside of the railing to tighten it. Once they started loading it into the bucket while on the appliance dolly I kept a hold of the power and water connection hose and got them placed in the bucket along one side. My dad said this must have been a my first name project and DH said that I helped which my dad said she motivated in that if I know my daughter she got fully ticked off and started yelling at the rest of you for procrastinating on it tone. I did keep it down on the yellling and door slamming-only once when I brought the entire bottom shelf that goes just above the vegetable drawers into attempt to clean it-does not work that great in a double sink in fact I could have used the big farm sink in my parents house to do that project as I got soaked, the counter was soaked and the floor to boot.
OK the only reason I did not scream louder and slam a few more doors was 13 year old was still sleeping. She was asleep when I got home from town last night around 10:30. I had forgotten to even check for ice cream though I did get a tub of toll house chocolate chip cookie dough which 13 year old proceeded to immidiately radar out of the fridge first thing upon getting up. I heard her from the front room and told her to bring to me what she was trying to get into and she walks in with the cookie dough to which I told her to put it back. The child has a radar for uncooked cookie dough even when I bring it home and she is sound asleep.
Hopefully can get things planted in the garden areas this evening or tomorrow but now is time to get ready to go next door to niece's high school graduation party. 13 year old is getting a quick shower and 16 year old is not moving when I sent DH down to get her up. I need to change my shirt, do my hair really quick, and put on my socks and shoes and then I am ready to go.
Hopefully I do not do anymore attempt to hunt a deer with my car like I did last night just a few miles from the house about a quarter mile from the intersection on the N/S road a mile and a half west of the property before turning onto our road which runs E/W coming back from the smaller town. Luckily I saw it in time to break but it was awlfully close.

It is a hot day here, around 93. We go both walks in by 10:30. We did errands this afternoon. Thankful for AC. It sounds like everyone is busy and hopefully staying cool inside.

I am trying to plan a trip for May 2022. We usually travel in May so I try to plan ahead of time plus I can only take off certain weeks so need to request vacation time early. I am looking at going to Disney again and staying at a different place or a national parks tour. We have been to some national parks but most of these on this tour we have not been to. My gut is going with the familiar for now and branching out in 2023 to the national parks tour. Decisions, decisions and I am a very indecisive person. :upsidedow First world problems I know.

We try to be careful with Jasper and our power recliner. I used it when I had my knees replaced years ago but we recently unplugged it as I only use it upright now. It makes me feel better.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Welcome home, PollyannaMom :) I'm glad you had a lunch treat. Thank you for visiting the cemetery and placing flags.

Hug, Sweetpeama, I'm sorry :( Prayers for much brighter days ahead for you!

Hug to you as well, Snowysmom, enjoy your vacation planning--something positive to do and enjoy! I'm not able to travel myself but I agree with you that for 2022 it might be best and more comfortable to visit somewhere familiar. That way you can still experience some new things but already know the lay of the land. Wherever you end up visiting, may it be a fun trip :)

Same cemetery I posted pics of the other day!

@sweetpeama - that sounds par for the course with 16 year old daughters. My one daughter at that age, the good one actually, got really angry at something I said to her. It was probably along the lines of find a path in your room and give me the dirty clothes since I can't tell them from the clean. She was a slob! She looked at me and shouted "I HATE you!" I thanked her. Stopped her dead. She couldn't figure out why I would thank her. Told her that it means I'm doing my job right. She has an almost 17 year old daughter and she gets it now. They are tough years. Her youngest will be 13 in December. I can't wait to see the drama then.

I had left over pulled pork from dinner the other night. I made a version of Mexican street corn to go with it and it was so GOOD! I don't think I can ever eat plain corn again and it was so easy to make.

After all the struggles Mikey will pass 9th grade, barely. I have mixed emotions but he struggled with Reading/English. His learning disability is with that subject and online classes just did not do him any good. Honestly reading Shakespeare and some of the other books he had to read will mean nothing in his adult life so I am just happy he passed. Crystal did OK after all her worrying. The 6th grader got straight A's all marking periods. I made a bet with her in 4th grade that if she got straight A's til she graduated 8th grade I would take her on a cruise. She is going to do it because she is that focused. I created a monster. It will be a girls only trip so that would be nice.

Kitchen is cleaned up and my son and grandson really knocked out my backyard today. They just need to come over and weed whack every couple weeks through the summer. We are going to get brick pavers and pave over the whole yard then they are going to build me a raised flower/vegetable garden around the perimeter. My grandson is also going to rebuild my deck. It's 34 years old and in bad shape. It will be nice to get that done over the next year. It's a never ending project but it will be nice to have the projects done.

Hope everyone has a nice night.

It's still hot and 90 outside. Only going down to 70 overnite, so I guess this will be the first nite the ac stays on overnite. I don't know if our elec bill was 'estimated' last month, but we just got a bill for $54? It's usually around 90-100 running ac. Can the central unit really be that efficient--I am hoping so!

Dinner was good..and I just cried myself through a movie I never saw before. I went in the living room, and hubby was asleep in his chair,,with 'The Notebook' on tv. I backed it up to the beginning and sat through it weeping now and then. I know it's an old movie, but for some reason I never saw it. Hubby even woke up and watched the rest of it pretty intently, lol!

@bobbiwoz--hope your recovery is coming along well..and I love that puzzle. I am a bird lover too, is that by any chance a Ravenburger one?

Have a nice evening everyone..stay cool!

Yes, that’s an emotional movie. I usually bawl watching that one, too!

Our central air raises our electric bill quite a bit from June till Sept each year. I went up on the kids’ rent this month, lol

Continued prayers for your recovery, Bobbiwoz! Love the puzzle and great job! I’m PM-ing you a puzzle related question.

Hug to all parents of teens. As always, Taz Dev, your kind advice is so spot on. God Bless all your grandkids. I pray they get to have a fun summer.

Yikes, Lynn, when it still is in the 70’s at night, you know it is HOT. I hope it will cool off a little for you this week ahead. That’s wonderful about your bill being lower than expected!

Pea, the notebook was emotional. My favorite Nicholas Sparks book is A Walk to Remember.

Wishing all of you a good night!

Happy Sunday everyone....I've been trying to post for days but just having a hard time lately. Today it's been a month since my mom has gone so I'm sure that's why.

My sister and niece came up to spend the night this weekend. It was fun to see my crazy niece...lol It's the first time they've been here since my mom passed and even though they sometimes stay here at our house, my niece(5) insisted they stay with Papa and the dogs. So cute. She cracked us up though because a light was turned on that is usually hard to turn on so my dad asked my sister and I if we turned it on. Neither of us did, and my niece just blurts outs "it's probably just ghost grandma".... it made us laugh. We went out to breakfast this morning with a gift card my mom had received for Christmas from a neighbor, we never got to take her out to use before she sent to the hospital.

Hope everyone has a good week. :grouphug:

We made it home. Got up this morning and went swimming in the hotel pool. Left a little before 11, stopped at a Panera for lunch, and made it to my house about 4:30. DD's husband brought the dog and Carter and we all had a cookout and dinner. Everyone was glad to be back together. And can that Carter eat; he had 2 hot dogs, some macaroni salad, and corn cut off the cob. The hot dogs were just the meat cut into pieces but I can't believe he can eat two.

@bobbiwoz, great puzzle. I would like that one.

@AuntieMe3, . I am sure you miss your mom.

DH has to report for jury duty tomorrow and I have a list of chores to do.

AuntieMe3-- Losing your Mom is one of the hardest things to go through, it takes time. I lost my Mom over 20 years ago, and I still can have a very hard moment from time to time. Thoughts for healing:grouphug:

It was 94 degrees today. We don't have central air, so we kept the doors and windows closed and it wasn't too bad. We have a room air conditioner in our bedroom so sleeping is comfortable.

Had a different teacher in Sunday School this morning. He was very good, I hope that we get to hear him more often.

Looks like DD has found a good attorney.

I spent part of the day photographing jewelry and sending it to the kids (they're adults now). I number the pictures and am up to 134. Whew! I'll be glad when I'm done.

On the way home from church we passed a large, soft shell turtle crossing the road. We turned around and DH scooted it on off the road before it got run over. He did it all for me, what a sweet heart!

We had a glorious thunderstorm last night. Lots of rain and thunder but no bad weather. It felt so good to lay in bed and listen to it. We're expecting more rain over the next couple of days but it will be hit or miss.

I missed picking my first tomato off of one of my tomato plants. I went out last evening to water them and there it lay on the dirt with holes in it. I knew I should have checked it on Friday. Darn birds! 😄

Late lunch/early dinner as usual on Sunday. Grilled ribeye steaks, baked potatoes and roasted zuchinni, yellow squash and green beans.

I decided to give Weight Watchers another try. I need to do something, I've got a wedding to buy an outfit for next year.

Good Monday morning. It's a sticky 72, rainy degrees outside,,very very muggy. Nice and cool in here though, as I kept the ac on all night. The cats aren't happy that they have no open windows to sit in, but they will have to deal with it.
@Kirby---sorry about your first tomato,,bad birds! I usually watch our first ripening one (which might be August before we get any), and then it either gets that bottom rot, or something picks it off the vine before I can, must be birds). Mine are starting to grow a little, and didn't see anymore that were just stalks, but we did lose a total of 4, so the 4 I bought to replace them will have to do.

I don't plan on doing anything outside today, since I don't have to water as it's raining right now. Not hard, but enough to get everything wet. And I don't feel like doing much inside either, will have to see how I feel after I go back to sleep for an hour or so. Hubby wonders why I don't get a restful nights sleep--he came to bed at 10 when I did. Sat on the edge of the bed playing a game on his phone for 45 min. Then was up during the night 2x doing the same thing, along with talking to the cat. Does he not wonder why I get up in the morning in a bad mood, not having gotten much sleep? MEN!

Have a nice morning all!
