@Breezy_Carol--no there is no battery back up for the chair. I turned it over this morning, and see that one of the small bars on the side where the sliding mechanism is, is bent. I tried to bend it back straight, but it's hardened steel. I put some 3 in 1 oil on it and if we don't let it go all the way down, it works, for now. Its lasted for 3 years..no idea where stepdaughter got it from in the first
place, so it won't be a big loss if we have to replace it, just have to find someone who has them in stock, or try ordering from Wayfair.
I am really ticked at the weatherman,,as the snow is still coming down. This is not a 'snow shower' as they called it. In fact they had to rush and get the plows and sanders out on our road already. I somehow don't see it getting to near 50 today, lol

And darn it..I had your birthday written down to send you a greeting on here, and I totally forgot. Happy Belated Birthday!

Huge smile, Lynxstch, that is so cute! Yikes, I am so sorry your DH was once trapped in his chair :( I am glad you are able to get a new chair!

Happy day after your birthday, Carol! So glad you had a nice day. Lovely photo! Thanks for sharing with us.

 Pea, I love that the Nativity set was waiting for you and your DH to discover. A gift from God with a little help from your DH's parents. Peace and hug, my friend.

Wishing all of you a good last week of February!

Is the Post Office EVER going to get their act together? Hubby still hasn't gotten his W2 if not here by the end of the week he's calling work and asking them to send another one. I still haven't gotten a card that a friend in CA sent me 2 weeks ago.

Back in early Dec..I contacted Purina because I couldn't find our oldest cats favorite Friskies canned food. He would only eat the flaked tuna or the flaked tuna and egg. They told me they had discontinued both, and would send me coupons. I got those today, postmarked Dec 23. Long time coming, but worth it. They sent me 3 coupons (worth up to $28.99 each), for big variety boxes of Friskies canned food.

I also got a third Burpee's catalogue. This is the third one we have gotten in a month. No wonder they charge so much for their seeds ,,they keep sending big catalogues out over and over again. It seems like the mail we don't care about is getting through, but first class mail is being held hostage somewhere

Temp is up to 39, some of the snow is melting, but I'm glad I shoveled. Ours is all clear, anyone who didn't still has snow all over their driveways..and it will refreeze tonite..

great photo Carol!

:rolleyes:We get 3-5 catalogs per week at the moment...not all Brecks & Burpee, although they suspiciously share several of the same photos!
I may have broke down and ordered from one or two of them-

I went home at lunch to spring the mutts for a few minutes and grab something to eat. We were getting a ice/snow mixture but our sidewalk was covered again and we are out of salt. I'll have to embezzle some from the shop before we go home, I felt bad because I know the UPS guy made a delivery sometime between noon & 1:45 pm and so he had to trudge over that icy sidewalk....but on the other hand, my new vacuum arrived!

Still got a scratchy throat and feeling blah so I've canceled the appointment I have at 5 this afternoon in favor of going home and doing nothing.

Dazedx3 - I hope your recovery from your procedure is going better today:)

Good to see you, LoveSpringsteen :)

Those coupons were worth (the super long) wait, Lynn. So glad they made it to you. I am sorry your other expected mail is still MIA :( I think you're right on with thick catalogs and pricing! I also sometimes wonder about the "free gifts" (with a donation of X amount) from various organizations. How much of their proceeds (donations)are going toward the cause vs. the advertising and "gifts?"

Feel better, Easyas! Glad you decided to cancel your appointment.

To with our beach discussion, tonight is a movie called Bottled with Love (a message in a bottle) and tomorrow night on Hallmark is The Beach House (based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe). I read the book years ago and it's on my post plague library saved list.

So grateful to be warm right now! Not at all cold. I also got a kind email reply from a church pastor. Dad's arm in feeling better, so that's also a Blessing.

Temp is up to 39, some of the snow is melting,
I hope that gets here soon. I thought I scheduled my grocery pick up for after the snow changed to rain but the pick up window is here and it just hit above freezing.

tomorrow night on Hallmark is The Beach House (based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe).
I read that book also. I might enjoy that movie.

@flyingdumbo127, I'm glad your dad got his vaccination and that they made the appointment for his 2nd dose! They did that for my MIL as well.

@lynxstch, I love that meme! I've had that saved up for a while. So true at this time of year...

@dazedx3, I'm so sorry for all that you're experiencing right now. This February has truly been a lousy month (and that's an understatement). A lot of hugs and prayers coming your way :grouphug:

@Breezy_Carol, Happy Belated Birthday!

Well, Happy (?) Monday from the cold and dreary NE. Joshie at least got to have a full day at school, no full remote day or early dismissal day. Many of the towns around us called an early dismissal, but it's just raining here. Josh also woke up yesterday with a slightly swollen, red eye. After a warm compress in the morning, he looked and felt fine all day, but this morning it was even more swollen and red. We ran him over to the doctor this morning and it's just a stye, "not pink eye and not contagious" as she wrote on the note that I had to deliver to the school. And we still managed to get him to school on time :)

DH and I went to Home Depot on Saturday to look around at "stuff" for the living room. My mother has some "notions" swirling around in her brain...paint the walls, window trim, and the fireplace mantel/surround, "do something" about the brick part of the fireplace surround, get new fireplace doors, paint the massive bookcases, etc. I saw on the Behr paint website that the color "Canyon Dusk" is the color of the year, and the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I've got a sample of that hanging on the wall now, with a couple of creamy off-whites for the trims. Unfortunately I don't think I like either one in the light...one is too bright with a yellow undertone, and the other one is definitely pink. Need to start over with those.

I think the Wellbutrin kicked in and I noticed that about an hour after I take it, I get jittery, shaky, my thoughts start going a thousand miles a second and I can't speak fast enough to get them all out of my head. Otherwise I don't really feel any different. Still feeling anxious and depressed. I did have a really good (for me) blood pressure that afternoon, though - 120 over 82! I was VERY surprised!

We spent the day with my MIL yesterday. She doesn't seem to want to talk about Dad too much yet. My BIL stopped by and Josh was thrilled. He is suddenly VERY into his uncle - when it's him, DH, and BIL, he likes to say that "the men are all together!" Wish we could start up with live events and stuff again - when Josh was born, DH said that at some point, the three of them could go do stuff together, like go to a hockey game. My BIL only has 2 daughters, and he's spent the past 16 years going to dance class, the mall, things like that, so he's VERY happy that there is finally a boy in the family! (And it's a boy who thinks he's really cool - his teenage daughters certainly don't think he is at all! ;) )

Looking forward to dinner tonight. I've been really hungry lately. Wonder if that's the Wellbutrin...

@Pea-n-Me love that you find that nativity at your FILs place.

@easyas123 I hope you feel better. My allergies are starting to make me crazy the last couple days, I feel just yucky and itchy. Doesn't help that I keep forgetting to take my daily allergy pill. You mentioned Costco on Saturday... we went yesterday and hubby said something to the cashier about it being really busy, she said well it is Sunday afternoon. I had already started walking away but he said, my wife likes to come during the week right before you close. The cashier said she is right, that is the best time to come. He told her Shhh....don't let her hear you say that she's right.... Always trying to be the joker....lol

@flyingdumbo127 so glad your dad got his first dose and didn't have to bad off a time. My dad just got a notification from Kaiser, his insurance, that he can register for an appt. He keeps saying he's going to make an appt but I'm going to keep hounding him until he does.

@Breezy_Carol Happy Belated Birthday to you and your DGD. I'm so glad your little get together got to happen, I know you were worried it might have to be canceled.

@lynxstch good luck finding a new power chair for DH. My mom has one but it has a manual release in case of power outage so if she's reclined and the power goes out there is a button we can push to sit her back up.

I have such a headache today, probably from my allergies, like I said earlier, they have really been bothering me lately. Weeds are already starting to sprout up all over our yard and it's messing with me. We also have some guys up on the roof working on our HVAC unit so I'm sure all that pounding isn't helping. Me and the dogs are hanging out in our bedroom since one guys keeps having to come in the house to go up into the attic space. The dogs are not happy they can't go out and meet new friends.

A nice little surprise when I sent to pay my electric bill, I saw we have a negative balance and thought maybe it was a glitch. Finally figured out they applied our deposit toward the balance so now we have a credit and I don't have to pay anything this month with still some credit left to apply to next month's bill....yay!

I got a dumb jury duty notice awhile ago and completely forgot about it thinking they can't possibly be doing juries right now. Hubby saw it today and pointed out its for tomorrow so I need call later to see if I actually have to go in or not. I better not have to go, I've never had to go before so if I have to go during a pandemic, I'm going to be really annoyed....lol

That author sounds familiar, i think i read The beach House also, I’ll have to DVR it.

Carol , happy belated birthday. My youngest son’s birthday is the same day as his grandma’s in April. They enjoy being birthday buddies.

josh is lucky to have a ”cool Uncle”. My sister inlaw’s fi ace has been around the family for the past 5+ years and it’s nice to know my teens can ask him questions if they don’t want to ask their dad. It takes lots of adults to help our kids nowadays.

Carol and Sparkle, I hope you both (and that I will, too) enjoy The Beach House movie. The book did a good job of setting the scene of beach house living.

Apirateslifeforme, so glad Josh is okay and ITA with Sparkle at how fun for him to have a "cool Uncle" and extra positive adult to be able to talk to. When I was a preschool director and teacher, I always tried to somehow either bring the community (even a simple pizza delivery or mail carrier) to the kids or the kids out into the community (field trip). I sure wish as a young child I had had greater extended connections.

Thank you all so much for the vaccination wishes for my dad. His arm is continuing to heal!

I've been busy this afternoon helping Dad to finish his first scrapbook album of saved cards.

No mail here yet. Hope all of you are having a good afternoon/early evening.

Evening all.

Been a couple days since I had the time to actually pop in. Prayers for all those who need them.

Found out my mom has been sick for about a week. She actually considered heading to the ER and she NEVER does that. I am a little concerned because of that. No matter what she eats she starts to get really ill and has some tightness in her chest. My aunt convinced her to call the doctor tomorrow if a lot of small meals don't work today. Small meals means a graham cracker with a sip of tea. My mom does confuse me. She'll consider the ER but doesn't call her primary.

The kitchen has turned into a "what else can go wrong" project. The plumber came out and not only do the shut off valves need to be replaced part of the main line under the floor is lead so that needs to be replaced. Best part was it would only be $150. He headed down to the main shut off valve and that is in really bad shape so he can't fix the kitchen pipe. The main is beyond his expertise. Called my normal plumber and it's a 3 week wait. That was out. Called 2 others and figured whoever could get there first. Got a call from the first plumbers company and they could be there in a couple hours. Cancelled the other plumber who came anyway. Turns out my grandson worked for the company and got laid off because he refused to enter the house of a family with Covid. They couldn't figure out how to shut off the water at the curb and wanted $1200 just for the kitchen. My grandson handled them. My grandson's boss stopped by and he is doing EVERYTHING tomorrow for $400 so saving me some money there. The floor dried out and the damage isn't as extensive as we thought thankfully. I need to have some more faith. Of course the base cabinets we are adding need to go on a platform because they are actually wall cabinets. They aren't as wide so I have more walking space in the kitchen. My grandson said that is no problem.

I did have to change delivery for the appliances by a couple days. This has me confused and angry. No problem for the stove and fridge but I wanted to add the dishwasher since I don't want them to install it now. FOund out that would be better with the plumber doing that work because the garbage disposal and pipes would also need prep work since they will be capped til the cabinets are in.
The dishwasher can't get delivered because of the installation til March 11, about 10 days later. If I cancel the installation I can't get it til April 30th and they won't put it in the space. I ordered these in January. They were not back ordered and if I change the installation it becomes back ordered??? I'll pay for installation that they won't be doing just to get it before the counters are installed so everything is in place.

I am completely stressed out by all this. On the positive side I may get to meet LJ tomorrow. I am jealous my daughter got to see him yesterday. I can't wait to kiss his chubby little cheeks.

Hope you all have a good night.

QUACK and good morning. Above freezing outside for a change..and going to mid 40's again. Tomorrow will really feel like Spring coming when we might get near 60! Hubby didn't sleep well last nite, which means I didn't sleep well either. I need a nap already, lol

We may go look at chairs today, if he has enough energy. All that means is he will drive, and I will be the one to have to go in and look, take pics or video and then show him. He wants me to pick out a new living room set while there too, but I refuse to pick that out alone. I told him to call the few places we have around here and see if they actually have any power lift chairs in stock.

@tazdev3225--I hope your Mom feels better, or if she doesn't, that she seeks help. Sorry to hear about your kitchen remodel 'hiccups'ope they get under control. Just keep thinking how nice it will be when it's all done!

Have a nice morning!

Morning all.

I am enjoying a very quiet morning. My husband is having a stress test, no one will be here til the afternoon for the kitchen and I could use the alone time. I have not been sleeping well with the stress of the kitchen so a few hours of quiet to destress.

Hopefully today the plumbing issue will be fixed. It's just a matter of finding the valve at the curb. It goes down about 5 feet and with all the snow and rain there is water in the pipe so it's hard to locate. We are going to try and siphon some of the water out with a shop vac and the sun is sort of out today so that will help. I am so OVER this winter.

I just keep thinking that it's better we found the issue now than later. It's just a bump in the road and in 2 weeks I will have a completely redone and beautiful kitchen. AND the kitchen will be out of my living room and dining room. We are already planning the work for the other two rooms.

Well have a great day all.

Happy Tuesday All,

Well the mail came at 7:20pm last night! Not our regular carrier but it arrived.

Hug, Lynn, I hope you are able to catch a nap and should you and your DH go look at chairs you find one! Dad will sometimes text me a picture of something he is looking at inside a store to see what I think. I understand how that is handy right now! Thank you for being the going in person for you and you DH. I pray always for Dad when he goes out do for each of you in general as well.

Hug to you, too, Taz Dev, prayers today goes smoother. You please take care of yourself!

This weather is crazy. It 'was' sunny and beautiful, temp went up to 48. Then winds came out of nowhere and the sky got black. It rained for about 15 min. Now the sun is half out, the temp is down to 43, and we have wind advisory's for gusts up to 50 mph??

Today is Lily's 15'th birthday. She seems to be adjusting well to the new change in her meds, let's hope it stays that way. She is going out to dinner with her Mom and her Grandmother today. I just don't get it. Stepdaughter won't bring her over here to see us, but she can take her out to a restaurant with her grandmother? The last time we saw Lily in person it was Fathers Day of last year :( Hard to believe she will be old enough to drive next year..yikes!
