Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning.

There is a big yellow thing in the sky and it is causing shadows by the trees. What is it?

Had surprise visitors this morning. DD is getting a new roof on her house after storm damage last summer. Her DH went to school to teach and kids to daycare. She and the dog were here by 8 to avoid the pounding noise at home. She is working virtually and has a court hearing at 11 for a client.

Also expecting snow Thursday so getting a grocery order in for pick up hopefully tomorrow.

Good Morning, everyone,

To those of you in snow country please do take extra care and stay home when possible! Prayers for your safety on the road and of course warmth at home as well. I admit to not being a coffee cake fan but I truly hope those of you making some enjoy! :)

It's cooler here this morning, overcast and darker looking. It's supposed to be 70 tomorrow. Yesterday was such a Blessing for most of the day for me to not be cold in here.

ETA: Aw, I would enjoy dog sitting for a day!

Hugs to all and Happy Tuesday!

Good morning (or is it afternoon now?) I'm sitting alone in the living room, watching Bluey on the Disney Channel. Yes, it's a kid's cartoon, but it's cute. I like the episode where they play "Bus," and Bluey and her sister play "the grannies" Janet and Rita.

Now for the Debbie Downer part of my post...my uncle called about 2 hours ago to tell us that my aunt passed. We're just grateful that she didn't linger in pain. I'm still sad and angry, though, that after all those years apart, they only got 3 years together. But at least they were good years.

Josh got a package from Amazon this morning that we think was from my mother's friend, Josh's honorary "Grammy Louise." It's a little stuffed "Remembrance Bear," and Josh named it Bob, of course :sad1: He was extremely angry over the weekend, way more so than usual, and I really think it's the grief coming out. He seems better today, though, and when he got the bear, he laid down on the sofa with it, covered it with a blanket, and stayed like that for about 30 minutes. Looked like he was going to cry, too, but he didn't.

I'm getting extra stressed out now, too, as I went to my PCP one day last week and my blood pressure was extremely high. She wants me to keep track of it at home - we have a little machine because my DH has issues, too - and I can't get it under 150s over 90s. This morning, for example, it was 174/103. I have a feeling I'm going to end up on meds. She also prescribed Wellbutrin for my depression, but I don't feel any different yet (after a week). In fact, she said it would probably give me more energy, but I've actually felt more tired! Come mid-afternoon, I cannot keep my eyes open.

Ugh. Just...ugh.

Sorry, can't say I do..but it was also almost 50 years ago that we lived there. Although the last name sounds familiar..maybe sons/daughters/grandsons/granddaughters of someone I might have gone to school with...I looked him up on FB and can see that sadly, he passed away recently. But he doesn't look familiar to me at all...as you can tell,,I'm fairly ancient,,lol..actually 66, but sometimes feel older!
I think they probably moved in about 50 years ago when they were married :) They are my former aunt- and uncle-in-law (Carl's sister was my MIL), but it's been a LONG time since I saw them. I didn't know he'd passed, though, but I'm not really surprised.

And you're not ancient. 66 is YOUNG. Seriously. When you hit 100, then we'll discuss being ancient ;)

Afternoon all.

Grocery shopping was done early as my daughter gave me the wrong days to get the boys to school. Since I was up I went shopping at 8 AM. Didn't need much since the kitchen is getting gutted this weekend. I will be cooking up a storm for the next couple of days so we will have easily microwaved meals for a week or so. Then it will be TV dinners and sandwiches. But there is a light glimmering at the end of the tunnel.

I received some sad news today though. An acquaintance from my Scotland trips, and a Facebook friend lost her battle with Covid yesterday. She fought so hard and was such a sweet person that I was deeply saddened to read the news. She lost a daughter a couple years ago so there is a small comfort that she is reunited with her daughter.

Had my grandsons IEP meeting today. There is hope that he can still pass this year. Just need to work with him a little. He is struggling with English and that is his biggest issue with School. Mikey is autistic and comorbid with ADD so Virtual Learning is a struggle for him. He also has a reading issue so he is in 9th grade but on a 7th grade level. We have a plan in place and I am impressed that the school is working to help him get through this year. I worried about him attending this High School because it has never had a great reputation and 2 of my kids struggled there. I feel a little better about Mikey's prospects now. I will also be getting the progress reports daily or weekly so I can forward them to my daughter. She never checks her e-mails and is working crazy hours right now. We did this in grade school also and it helped out them both having me getting the updates.

Other than that not much going on.

Stay safe and warm everyone dealing with this winter weather.

So sorry to hear of yet another passing in your family..how sad :(

Awww that bear can be his buddy until he gets all his grief out. I would let him carry it around as much as he wants to (except for school of course)

That is way too high for your BP,,even if you need meds, you need to get it under control..we don't need to have you having a stroke :(
Ugh. Just...ugh.

LOL I need to make it to 70-80-90 long before we think about 100..and I don't think I want to live that long anyhow!

Good morning.

There is a big yellow thing in the sky and it is causing shadows by the trees. What is it?

That same yellow thing in the sky was here,,but it didn't last very long. Now it's dark and gray and very windy again :(

Had surprise visitors this morning. DD is getting a new roof on her house after storm damage last summer. Her DH went to school to teach and kids to daycare. She and the dog were here by 8 to avoid the pounding noise at home. She is working virtually and has a court hearing at 11 for a client.
Always nice to have company,,I just can't remember the last time we actually had any! :(

Also expecting snow Thursday so getting a grocery order in for pick up hopefully tomorrow.

Now they say we might get ice tomorrow..then snow..hubby just said they said 8-12"..they have better be talking about somewhere other than our city! I hit Walmart, Aldi's and the discount grocery store over the PA line. Aldi's was empty, I was #116 in Walmart and got in and out in 20 minutes. Great buys at the discount place. They had pork tenderloins for $3.29 ( same exact ones in Walmart were over $8 each), I got a Texas Smokehouse BBQ one and a Honey Garlic Teriyaki one. Got another can of their lump crab meat for $10. The movie theater boxes of Raisinettes (my favorite candy) , that are $1 in Dollar General were only $.49. They always have great deals,,and I was one of only 2 customers in the store.
Now we are ready for ice/snowpocolypse, and have enough food in the house for at least a week. Got my Chewy Order on Saturday, so the cats have plenty of food.

 and love to you both, Apirateslifeforme and TazDev, I truly am so sorry for your losses. ITA with Lynn, way too many have died and/or been made seriously ill from Covid.

PLEASE stop and take care of yourself, Apirateslifeforme! We need/want you to be well! God Bless Grammy Louise for the bear indeed, so sweet!

Extra hugs to all of you this morning.

Good afternoon.

Just another gray and cold day. I so want and need to get out and walk. DH went out to get gas, pick up a curbside order at Lowes, and put something in the UPS drop box. He is just itching to get out of the house.

We finished the Finders Seekers but did need some clues. It ws fun.

What is Finders Seekers please? Is it a puzzle, or a game, never heard of it

@lynxstch, glad your DH at least got on the list. I was glad when at least I felt like I was in line.
Yep, he was glad to at least have been able to get onto the site and onto the list

@easyas123, good luck with the fence. We have a split rail fence with chicken wire around our backyard, maybe a quarter acre. It is 23 years old and DH is replacing section by section as it rots and fails. It is starting to get too much for him but no one wants to just repair a fence. We had it for kids and dogs, neither of which we have now, but still want it for the grands.

Started another old jigsaw puzzle to keep me busy.
Still working on my 1000 piece one..but at least making some headway on it,,lol..20210213_151312_resized.jpg

Well, the Post Office finally got at least one missing piece of mail here. My bank card, which was mailed on,Jan 25,from Oakland MD to my city (about a 30 min drive) was in our lock box after the carrier came. It took 22 days,,is that ridiculous or what? At least I feel better knowing it's in my possession instead of floating around in Baltimore somewhere! I practically got blown across the street trying to get the mail,,winds have come out of nowhere!

Slipping thread!

That is crazy, Lynxstch! I would have also been concerned about my bank card being in limbo for so long! Glad it finally did safely arrive.

Waiting on a package from Staples of Kleenex today. Dad had a $5 Staples reward that we used yesterday to grab a great deal on 6 big boxes of the ultra soft Kleenex for just over $6 (after the coupon). Hopefully the regular mail will come, too. I very well remember the last time there was no Monday mail, that was when all of our most recent mail trouble began.

Good afternoon, friends :)

@apirateslifeforme @tazdev3225 So sorry for your losses. :grouphug:

I've been freezing lately, can't warm up and then I read about all the colder temps and weather everyone else is experiencing and I feel silly. It's 61 right now but a little windy so it feels colder. :sad2: :lmao:

I need to get motivated to do stuff....I've been so lazy lately and really need to do something. I need to deep clean my room, get rid of clutter and things I haven't worn in forever but I've having a hard time getting started.

I understand, AuntieMe3! I just told Lynxstch in a PM that I am usually cold, too. It sure has been windy! Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. I often want to do a big project like that all at one time rather than in parts which is much easier. Take it a step at a time and know with the clothes you will passing on, they will make a difference to someone in need! :)

Anyone want to ask a Tuesday QOTD?

@tazdev3225 and @apirateslifeforme, so sorry for your losses.

@lynxstch, Finders Seekers is a monthly subscription service, sort of an escape room in a box. Once a month a box is sent that contains clues and puzzles to solve to answer a question/ solve a mystery. DS and his wife like escape rooms, puzzles, and trivia so I gave them 3 months for Christmas. After they did the first one they passed it to her parents then to us.

I practically got blown across the street trying to get the mail,,winds have come out of nowhere!
We never made it on our walk. By the time we had lunch, the sun was gone and the wind picked up and it was not pleasant outside.

I've been freezing lately, can't warm up
Me either. Added a sweatshirt but my hands are cold. I really don’t want to wear gloves in the house.

I have the same problem. I saw an idea for a Lenten project that could help. Instead of giving up something, get out a garage bag and add an item of clothing daily for the 40 days of Lent then donate at the end.

Seeing as tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, that leads to QOTD - Do you celebrate the season of Lent, and how?

I have never really given up anything for Lent. Is not something that is promoted in our church. Usually there is a Lenten Bible study I try to do during that time. I try more to add a practice that give something up. And I go to all of the services for Ash Wednesday and Holy Week.

I hope this doesn't stray too much into religion and step on anyone's toes.

QOTD - Do you celebrate the season of Lent, and how?

i often like to tell people, that different religions are like different colleges, they all have their pros and cons. I’m just happy if you attend any church that makes you feel like part of a commmunity and gives you strength during the hard times in life.

Years, ago “ Secret Agent OSO “ a show on Disney junior did a great job on teaching kids about Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza by showing we all use lights/candles to celebrate and want peace in the world.

a friend recently had me listen to a podcast/blog/show on XM radio called “ Busted Halo” it has a Catholic priest who is very down to earth and not so strict whose guest ( who must appear often on the show) was Rabbi Brad. They had the best discussion

in college , I belonged to a Christian group called The Navigators and spent time attending non demonational, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist and Catholic services. That was such a fascinating time.

I’ll tell you about my Lent experiences in the. Next post later tonight, right now my boys got done shoveling the driveway and are waiting on me to watch a movie
stay warm !

@apirateslifeforme So sorry for the loss of your Aunt. It has been a rough time for you and your family. Please take care of yourself and those close to you. Sending thoughts and prayers to you.

@TazDev Sorry for the loss of your friend. Covid has taken too many people.

Today it was raining this morning and a bit misty this afternoon. It is around 40 so no ice now. Last night the walkways and driveway were icy. They will be again tonight. We have more bad weather coming in Thursday into Friday. I am not sure if it is rain, ice, or snow or maybe all 3. I feel bad for Texas and other Southern states. They just don't have the means to take care of the snow, ice, and cold. We are used to it in New England but that doesn't mean we want any more of it. I know I am done with winter.

The coffee cake recipe from Tina sounds really good. I may have to get baking sometime soon.

I don't know why but I am so stressed and anxious about the covid vaccine. It seems like they are never going to get enough to vaccinate the people over 65 never mind the general population. They have had the 75+ vaccinations for a few weeks now so now they really need to also get the people 65-74 vaccinated before more get sick. It is peace of mind for me and others who are impatiently waiting. Our governor won't even say what criteria he is using to decide when to go to the next group. News stations have asked along with other news sources and he won't respond. My niece in England says they are starting to give the vaccine to people over 60 now. Sorry for the vent but it does help to write it out. I just need to destress and try to be patient. Patience is a virtue but it is one I have never had. LOL!

Hope everyone has a nice evening.
