Good afternoon.

Just another gray and cold day. I so want and need to get out and walk. DH went out to get gas, pick up a curbside order at Lowes, and put something in the UPS drop box. He is just itching to get out of the house.

We finished the Finders Seekers but did need some clues. It ws fun.

@lynxstch, glad your DH at least got on the list. I was glad when at least I felt like I was in line.

@easyas123, good luck with the fence. We have a split rail fence with chicken wire around our backyard, maybe a quarter acre. It is 23 years old and DH is replacing section by section as it rots and fails. It is starting to get too much for him but no one wants to just repair a fence. We had it for kids and dogs, neither of which we have now, but still want it for the grands.

Started another old jigsaw puzzle to keep me busy.

In truth, we are doing it 100% for the dogs! To be frank, we have a dog who is a very protective good old fashioned yellow guard dog mutt who likes nothing better to sit on his porch and survey all that is his.
And he's bit someone before.
So, for my peace of mind and his everlasting love of being on the porch 24/7 whether it's 20 degrees for 90 degrees we've decided to fence in back yard and put up gates on front porch so he's limited to his wanderings, at least when we aren't home! And can't bite the UPS guy. We have 20 acres between us and the other houses, probably 10 acres between the house and the road - where folks usually enjoy walking with their dogs and or little kids. It's just such a worry in that we can't ever let him out alone (unless he is in existing pen up by barns) without worrying a bit he might decide he needs to run to the end of the driveway to guard the property. He's never once done that - but, well since he has a "history" it just makes me feel better. And since he has different parts of the porch for different parts of the day, this way he can follow the sun around to his hearts content.
Lets just say I'm putting a massively huge dent in my Danube River/Christmas Markets trip fund for a fence, since it doesn't look like we are doing that kinda traveling for a while 😟 But, at the end of the day it's a improvement to the home so it's a good investment. Just not as fun as my trip was going to be:P
Husband has his once every few months phone call to his folks to make - he was supposed to do it last night - he'll continue putting it off for a few days most likely. Poor guys, it's a chore for him. But he feels better for making the effort and I know if the worst would happen he could be okay with the effort he put into it, so if for not other reason then that I tend to spend the week reminding him/nagging him to make the call.

My day has gone faster than I predicted, and for that I'm glad. Dinner this evening will be leftover turkey dinner items. Soup will either be tomorrows lunch, dinner or put in freezer for another time.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon.

Good afternoon friends,

Carol, Finders Seekers sounds fun. I hope you enjoy your new puzzle, as well. I am hoping next time Dad goes to the Dollar Tree, they'll have some puzzles again!

Easyas, I hope when you are able to take your trip it is a wonderful adventure :)

I tried to watch Very Very Valentine, the movie I mentioned earlier and just could not get into it. Maybe the next movie will be more engaging :)

Funny vacuum story, my best friend’s little guy J was around 3 or 4 years old and loved helping his mom vacuum the playroom as his chore. She takes him to get his birthday pictures taken early in the morning. Well, there is a vacuum cleaner in the area of the props. Yep, sure enough she had to get several photos taken with her son and the vacuum cleaner, before he would sit for his birthday photo. I’ll have to ask her if she still has that photo. He’s now 13 !

Does he want a part time job?????

Hi yall,
It's white out blizzard right now. I'm super over winter. Matt been out to shovel twice and the cul de sac will snow blow the whole thing tomorrow. We are expecting around 10-14 inches and more Wed-Friday. Luckily no problems with heat or electricity. I baked a cranberry white chocolate coffee cake to occupy my hands. Snow makes me nervous. It's like waiting for impending doom.

Hope all is doing well and staying safe.

Hi Tina! I hope you and Matt stay safe. That's a lot of snow for you, isn't it? I am over Winter also,,calling for light freezing rain tonite, and another snow storm on Thursday. Snow doesn't make me nervous, but the ice does!

Your white chocolate coffee cake sounds delicious!

It's unusual to get so much snow at one time here in Central Indiana but we do usually get several snows over the year. At least there snow blowers and I'm not alone scared as all out going what heck am I supposed to do!

My husbands late, dear grandmother had such a fear of thunderstorms that she hid in a closet during each one! I'm glad you have a technique for keeping yourself busy!

It does! I can't recall the last time I had coffee cake...hmmm, I may know what is for Sunday breakfast around here!

LovemyGoofy where are you in Indiana? I have a friend from the boards that lives in Lafayette. I have traveled with her to Disney a few times since we became friends here. I'll have to send her a message and make sure all is well with her. Stay safe and that coffee cake does sound delicious.
I'm direct south of Indy in Greenwood.

I managed to text her she warned me I'll be getting it next. YAY!!! Hope you all stay safe and warm. As my friend said I am a little more used to the snow and lousy weather. It may be true but I am so tired of shoveling

Monday is almost done, looking forward to Saturday when we are supposed to be above freezing. Our low tonight is predicted to be 0 degrees. I have so many friends that have no power or have been part of the rolling black outs. We have had power all day, I am so thankful. The sun came out this morning and it was clear skies all day. Was beautiful! We're expecting another front to come through tomorrow night but it won't affect the whole state like the last one, just straight down through the middle. And, of course, we are in included in it. Once we get past that front the temps will start heading up.

DD took the kids out to play this afternoon for a little bit. They collected snow for ice cream and it was a big hit. I was taking a nap and missed all of the fun.

Please stay safe and warm, everyone!

As a new/old show heads up, a week from today at 5pm (my time) a new version of the game show Chain Reaction will air on GSN. The "old" shows from the 90's are still on weekend mornings from 9-10am (my time). I usually prefer the original version of most anything. It will be interesting to check it out.

Have a good evenings, friends.

Yep, lots of snow here too, in fact we still had 2 inches on the grass to start that hadn’t melted from over a week ago, now it’s probably around 8 inches, with more coming tonight. I don’t mind it, since no place to go. But since it’s so so so cold, i can’t take a walk in it.
keeping busy baking also and playing card games. Those from the Midwest, do you play Euchre??

Good morning y'all..(borrowing that from @ lovemygoofy, lol)--Tina, could you share your white chocolate coffee cake recipe, when you have time? I haven't made a coffee cake in forever,,that would be good to try making this weekend.

No freezing rain here, just a light rain, temp is 35. Going to be 38 today. One more snowstorm to get through Thursday, then temps heading for near 50 (or so they say), next week. I can't wait! We still have most of the snow from the 6" last week, as the temps haven't gone up much over the last few days, the rain is just sitting on top of it.

Heading for the grocery store this morning, by tomorrow everyone will be aware of the snow potential and be jamming what few stores we have. I can't get used to not shopping on Saturdays, for the last 3 weeks we've done it on Tues/Wed, and by the following Tues I am running out of things, lol

Have a great day everyone, all of you DIS family members dealing with major snowfall,,be careful and stay safe!

Looks like a awful lot of coffee cakes are going to be made in the coming days!

Good morning all. As per usual things have popped up and so I’m out the door around 725 to head to points south on the shore. Won’t be bad, should be in office by9ish...

According to our weather, look is like we will get a bit of snow followed by ice Thursday morning. Supposed to be nicer this afternoon at least-

Good Morning to all,

Sorry I was grumpy last night. I'm so over the snow and winter. I'm not prone to seasonal depression but the cold and lack sunshine and not really out to do much is wearing. I heard from my taster that the cake was very good! Of course the Army ruined his taste buds so who knows lol I'll be making cinnamon rolls later this week to thank the neighbors coming together and digging out with the snow blowers. We already had about 4 or so inches on the ground and another 10 or so fell last night. More coming on Thursday. I'll need to try to get to store tomorrow for fresh fruits and veggies.

Here is the basic recipe to use for the coffee cake I made. Cranberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake - WellPlated.com
I added 1 cup diced fresh cranberries and 1/4 cup dried cranberries and 1/4 cup white chocolate chips with the berries into the batter.
For the glaze, I melted white chocolate chips, touch vanilla (I used vanilla booze) and some heavy cream.

I make different versions coffee cake about every month or so. I made a butter toasted pecan one a couple months ago that was so good!

Ya'll stay safe and warm.
