QOTD for Monday, July 27th: Have you ever gone to a psychic or medium and did the information turn out to be accurate or true?

Yes, there was a timeframe that I used to go once a year... I've also been approached by mediums randomly while walking who will tell me something. I've always had a healthy dose of skepticism but I don't mind. I don't do it at all these days and I haven't been approached in a few years either.

Crush - Kirk Cameron , of course, I loved Growing Pains...
You will be pleased to know that he really is a very nice guy. We met him at LAX in a food court while in line for tacos. He was rather shy, but when he realized that we weren't going to fawn all over him and were willing to just chat about normal things, he started to open up. We got our food first, then he came to find us and we talked about kids, church, schools, living in L.A., etc. Just totally normal chit chat. Very sweet and humble guy. :)

Full day yesterday and I never posted. I did read though.

I had PT then went to the grocery store for a huge order. Shopping ahead for the beach and cooking things to take. I ended up cooking spaghetti sauce, which we had for dinner, then froze a bunch of containers. Some go to the beach. Then, while the kitchen was already hot, I baked a batch of Toll House cookies and a loaf of banana bread. Both now in the freezer to go to the beach.

Today DH and I are going down to the church camp where we signed up for a swimming pool time slot. DD and family are going too. Predicted to be 92 so should be refreshing.

Dinner tonight is turkey burgers, corn on the cob, and sweet potato.

Not really a psychic but a good friend used to read palms and tarot cards. She did a reading for DH, then my BF, and I. This was more than 35 years ago and I really don't remember what she said. I used to have a cassette tape of the reading but not sure where it is now. But otherwise, no.

I've had the AC on since 9 a.m. I'm hearing that there is no heat advisory for tomorrow...my mother said that it was cooler and more pleasant out in Illinois yesterday, and she hopes that weather is coming our way.

I am feeling a little down this morning. Last night, my hairdresser texted to ask if I could change my appointment to early afternoon today. I can't, as I don't have a car and/or anyone to watch Josh (since he's not supposed to go inside with me). It's okay, though, and I'll just go as soon as DH gets home. She says she's "juggling a few things" and "everything is fine" (with a :goodvibes smiley ) and that she'll explain when I get there. I've been going to her for almost 30 years and when she says things like this, it's usually that she's moving to a different salon. But this time, she opened her own salon 4 years ago and while she's been doing quite well, even finding other stylists to work with her, I'm scared that being shut down for so long made her lose too much and she's closing. I'm praying that I'm just reading into it.

Then this morning I saw a random post on FB with a comment from Josh's (now-former) preschool teacher. She said for the upcoming year, the school only has half the enrollment as in previous years, so her contract and that of another teacher was not renewed. I am so sad for her. She's a wonderful teacher and so patient with the kids! At least we'll still get to see her at Barnes and Noble (her second job) but how sad. I know she loved teaching.

And now my mother says that my aunt's CA-125 is up, so we're all on edge. She doesn't go back to the doctor until August 27th. I can't believe they're having her wait a whole month.

QOTD

Where I am from, people have psychic parties (typo said psycho parties, lol) for fun and there are nights out where groups can go for readings, etc.

The best reading I ever had was from a lady who hit on a LOT of personal things that there's no way she could've known, especially in regards to my father. It was like one thing right after the other - bam, bam, bam! But here's the thing that was really cool. (And pardon me I don't have time for quotes this morning.) At the end of the reading she said I was going to Hawaii. I said no, I'm going to FL, but not Hawaii. She said well you're definitely going to Hawaii because they're showing me leis being put around your neck. That was in April, and we had a trip to Disney scheduled in Sept. It was a special trip celebrating some milestones, and I had booked a Tower room at the Contemporary as a special treat.

So in August Disney calls to say they have to move us from the Contemporary over to the Polynesian because they were renovating Shades of Green and they were moving those folks over to the Contemporary. But the good news, they said, was that they were upgrading us to Concierge for our trouble. I was so mad! I was really looking forward to staying at the Contemporary! I argued with them for most of the morning, believe it or not. But by the afternoon I had resolved that, ok, we'll move. So I sat down with my Unofficial Guide and started reading about the Polynesian. The first paragraph stated something like "Disney does a great job of transporting their guests to the South Seas of Hawaii". Then I remembered. Not only that, but the building we'd be staying in was named the Hawaii building. The day we arrived we pulled up on a golf cart and there were CMs standing there waiting to put leis around our necks. I actually cried. Because somehow it felt connected to my father, since she had told me so many things about him, then at the end dropped this Hawaii thing as sort of an extra little tidbit. Definitely a surprise months later but too specific, IMO, to just be random. Thought you guys would like that one.

There was also another Disney-related one you guys might like. It was a group reading (as was the other) with the same lady, but at a different time, after MIL had passed. Well doesn't she come right over to us and start telling us things about MIL. Again, very specific things that meant something to DH and others. But here was the nice thing. She said she was hearing island music, and started describing her being on an island in the Caribbean. We had taken a Disney Cruise with DH's parents a few years before MIL passed, and I had even done an album of pictures of them there for Christmas that year. She told us that that was how MIL wanted to be remembered. Which was nice, because we had all cared for her at her home while she was on Hospice, and it was hard to see such a decline. So now when we think about her, we remember her more on the beach on Castaway Cay than how she was at the end. And that's a nice gift to have.

That is lovely!
I actually have family, immediate family, that lives in the Abacos (island chain/area that Castaway Cay is technically located) and indeed live on the island where the original version of Castaway Cay was slated. It's a beautiful location, although still heavily decimated by the hurricane last year. Still no electric or infrastructure....don't get me started...anyway. It is a beautiful, sometimes very quiet and desolate area.

That must be an amazing place to live - and visit! :goodvibes

QOTD: Are you a shopper? Do you enjoy shopping or do you just shop when you need something? Is there a difference for you between online and in store shopping.
For this question, I'm not talking about groceries....😉

I normally don't like shopping, I'm kind of frugal and don't like spending money. I love clearance and deals...lol I will only go shopping when I absolutely have to, Christmas shopping is so stressful for me because I usually wait until the last minute to get my shopping done because I dislike it so much. Every once in awhile, I'll get feel the shopping bug and I'll go buy a bunch of stuff but its always only stuff we really need. I have friends who want to shop, shop, shop, almost everyday and they usually just buy stuff just because.

Most of the time I feel this way but lately....OMG...all I wanna do is go shopping. Maybe because it's not really the time to do it but I just wanna spend money. I've had talk myself out of going to Target and Walmart lately and I've spent way more than I usually do online lately. I bought DD a new bathrug from Kohls online using drive up pickup because I know if I go in, I'm gonna spend too much. LoL I should probably just start Christmas shopping now then I'll kill two birds with one stone. :sad2::laughing:

I'm not a huge shopper, although I do love a wander thru Home Goods every once in a great while :rotfl2:

I get very discouraged clothes shopping. I'm very short, and even petite jeans/pants can be to long on me sometimes. But a skinny-mini I am not - I will often go into a dressing room so laden down with things to try on, only to come out with nothing that fits! The day I discovered petite cropped pajama bottoms was life changing! ha ha - so for me, when I find pants or jeans that fit, I often buy several pairs of them, resulting in a rather hum-drum and boring wardrobe.
I am a downright sucker for fall - type home decor and any type of porch/patio furniture.

Same....Im 5'1 and DD is only 4'11" but we are not 'petite'....hubby likes to say he's short and chubby instead of big and tall and that describes all of us in this household. I used to buy crop pants for my regular pants until realized Torrid sells extra short jeans and they fit both DD and I great.

I am not really a 'shopper'. I just shop when I need something. Lately I would much rather shop online than in a store, but then again, we live in a very small city, and don't have a lot of places to shop in. When I lived in MA, I loved to just go to the mall and wander around. That was in my younger days, and I don't care for just walking around looking at stores anymore. I HATE clothes shopping, don't do that unless very necessary, lol!

I love to shop.
I don't have to need something, but it helps if I have something in mind. Not really much of a wanderer.
I do like to shop online.....easier to browse for me and if I know size, etc. I like to buy clothes online.
