Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

So no drink for me tonight  but I did get to go to Costco. Now that they are back to their regular hours and I don't need to get TP or paper towels, I can go in the evening before they close like I used to. It was awesome....not crowded and I got to go through all the aisles and check everything out. Except for wearing a mask, it felt like a regular pre-covid shopping trip. I spent almost $400 but it's been awhile since I've been and "needed" a lot of stuff. :rolleyes1:confused3  I got a couple mother's days gifts for my mom and sister and a birthday gift for my mom's BFF. Then hubby treated me to my favorite, tacos, at our favorite place on the way home. Anyway it felt good to get out for a little while, doing something that we used to do all the time...our Costco routine. :lovestruc

Question of the day: 5/6 What's the last movie you watched?
I started Dirty Dancing last night but ended up going to bed before it was over. The one I can think of before that would have been "The Upside" with Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston. It was really good...I liked it. I'm sure there have been others that hubby has put on but I usually tune those out....he's like the B movie king. :sad2::laughing:

Question of the day: 5/6 What's the last movie you watched?

I love movies. I don't always have the attention span to watch but I think we will watch something this evening.
Hands down my husband's favorite is Back to the Future 1 and 2. Of course, I love Steele Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes
but I also like a good John Wayne movie or a musical. Last movie Matt watched was IT Pt2 (I don't do scary movies) and I watched Guarding Tess the other day.

TCM has been providing background noise in this household for many years so I guess it influences my choices:).
First and foremost is the 1930's version of "The Women". Amazing dialogue, gifted actresses, and a somewhat dated premise that nevertheless seems heartfelt. Earlier today I watched " Precious" for the first time from start to finish. Made me want to beat a pillow for the hard life she was living but was nice it left off on a possibility of hope.

Neither of us were really hungry so made a light meal using frozen goods, time to eat produce, and almost finished stable pantry items. Found about 1/4 box of spaghetti so that became cold sesame noodles.
There's always a lot of cucumbers in the fridge since DGD likes to eat them out of hand throughout the day but since she's not here there's surplus. Used them to make a stir fried cucumber salad which is great hot, cold or room temperature.
Finally, grabbed a small vacuum packed bag of sliced Chinese BBQ pork out of the freezer, warmed it up, and added to the side of the sesame noodles and dinner was served.

As expected the man ate the leftover flan for breakfast AND lunch so it's finished. Think he's hungry for eggs so I'll bake another custard or some other eggy dessert soon; not as persnickety as flour based sweets and faster to make. Opened a can of lychee nuts and peeled a clementine for this night's dessert. The man added vanilla ice cream to his bowl and I stayed with the fruits solo.

The man and I are going to Manhattan's Chinatown later this morning. Have a few items to get down there and both of us will be good to carry the goods w/o an Uber back home: bok choy, Napa cabbage, maybe some ginger root if it looks young; getting tired of the gnarly stringy version up by here. Fruits, a roasted Peking duck, maybe some BBQ'd ribs, garlic chives, a bamboo steamer, rice noodles and wrappers, black vinegar.
I know I could order some of that online but we both need to get away from our present surroundings and see something new/old. Maybe we'll get lucky and score some takeout dim sum or noodle soup since there's nothing wrong with instant gratification in moderation, LOL.

Hello everyone, mind if I join midway? Too bad, lol, here I am anyway 😍
i need a friendly group, amd I glanced at a thread or 2 and omg 🙀

I can’t really watch many Movies, I have the attention span of a gnat. But, I have been watching re-runs of 90210 nonstop. Lol.

My husband is still on oxygen in the hospital, but we did get a face time in. and he Is doing much better, I’m sooo relieved,
!:welcome: So glad to have your company!!!

 Hope your husband gets better and home soon!

I can't remember the last time I watched a movie. I don't think I have the attention span anymore. LOL! I have been watching As Time Goes By on Britbox. Love that show. Tonight may be another Vicar of Dibley. I do have to watch Frozen so I can converse with my older granddaughter. I have read so many Frozen story books to her that I pretty much know how it goes.

I know what everyone means about some of those threads out there. They are depressing and angry. I like coming to this thread for a bit of relaxation and fun.

I have that on DVDs and watch it all the time. I love British comedies. I look for my favorites on You Tube all the time. I had the chance to watch May to December and So Haunt Me, both of which I hadn’t seen for years. If you like As Time Goes By, you would probably like May to December. It’s another one that derives a lot of its humor from just every day life.

The last movie I watched was The King’s Speech yesterday.

What movies I watch depends on my mood. I'm not big on westerns, or certain movies that were made from books (I am proud to say I have never seen a Twilight movie or read more than 10 pages of one of the books). Sometimes I want to watch stuff get blown up, or car chases, and sometimes I want funny, or tender, or romantic, or drama.

This isnt very kind or in keeping with the theme of the thread. I am sure there are people here that love these movies and or books.

You certainly make some amazing meals! The trip to Chinatown sounds like so much fun! I can’t even imagine!

When I was a kid, Dr. Who and Are You Being Served - and the Dick Cavit show, were the only ones we were allowed to watch! I have NO IDEA what my folks were thinking.... I'm a huge AbFab fan as well.... I love As Time Goes By - have you caught Doc Martin yet?

Oh please. There are people on here who are vegetarians, and don't get upset over posts about hamburgers or chicken fingers. I'm not religious at all, and I'm not upset over someone else posting about their going to church services or praising whoever they worship. I dislike those books and have zero interest in the movies. That's my opinion. Like it, don't like it, whatever.

It was how you were "proud" of not being able to get past 10 pages that was very condescending.

We had a re-do on the steaks tonight on the new grill, i.e. the one that has the cooking surface instead of the wire rack. I was doubtful, but they came out really good! I think the difference between this type of surface and a pan was that it stayed dry so the meat hand a nice sear to it and came out really nice. We also did some grilled zucchini and summer squash with olive oil and garlic along with mashed potatoes. :goodvibes

Cue "School is out for summer...." Matt is officially done with school and got his grades and he is all done. I finished my accounting class
and did fine. I'm not sure what class I'm going to take this summer. I'm thinking updating my Microsoft skills so I can be more efficient.

Dinner tonight was college boy's choosing. KFC..original...I'm not big KFC fan at all but it's fine and he should since it's his night. I'll do something nice for his actual "graduation" day.

My mom is pretty sick from treatment, which was expected and she is dangerously low on sodium and her iron is low also. She is likely going to need a blood transfusion soon but good news it's about almost 3 months since the last so that's positive. She was in good spirits tonight and hopefully gets her mother's day box soon.

Tomorrow I will make my MIL a pound cake for her birthday/mother's day gift for Saturday's visit and prep some foods to take up to Michigan for Matt's grandma's freezer. We are heading up to see her and stay a few days to break up our routine and keep her company. That'll be nice at least with gorgeous view Lake Chicago.

Thank you again for all that keeps me company on this thread. I really need it especially while things are changing and trying to figure out the new normal.
