Question of the day: 5/4: May the 4th be with you...are you a star wars fan? Have a favorite movie?

So I have seen all the movies and can even sort of speak about the movies but not really. I do understand what's going on though!
My Matt big fan of the movies and we have lot Star Wars goodies like the potato heads and of course Darth Mickey helmet.

Fav SW movie: Empire Strikes Back, of course! 2nd: RotJ 3rd: A New Hope. After that, the sequels over the prequels. The Mandalorian ranks right up there with ESB!

Feeling frustrated about the Shop Disney website, and the seemingly worsening ability of Disney to deal with scalpers and bots. Tried getting on all day to get the 3 "You are here" Starbucks mugs (SW versions) and maybe something else (thinking about going with the cartoon version of The Child Tervis metal cup) to round out shipping. Took 5 hours to get on to get them in my cart, only to go check out and be told everything is sold out. Look on Ebay...people are selling the mugs already, from $150 to 699 for a single mug, and $499+ for the set. I am beyond frustrated. I reported all the sellers that I could, because that is just total BS. I really hope they get removed, banned from Ebay and then lose their passes and get banned from all Disney parks. Jerk bots and resellers.

Got frustrated while at the grocery stores today. One store has one way aisles, and it's ok if you screw up once and go down the wrong way, cause we aren't really used to that...but when you do it down every single aisle, and go "whoopsie" and shrug your shoulders thinking you are so cute...grrrrr. It's not cute, it's being a..well, I can't use that word on the Dis....let's just say donkey. The other store has no one way, but I kept running into people who apparently think distancing is only something other people need to do, and heaven forbid that they not fondle every item on the shelf while searching for something completely different (think picking up and handling a series of ketchup bottles, not looking at them, just moving them around in their hands, then putting them back on the shelf any which way....then putting a bottle of hot sauce in the cart. Every. Time. They. Stopped. For. Something.

I'm eating some dark chocolate sea salt caramels to soothe away the frustration of the shopping day.

Anyways, spaghetti and meatballs, and the usual veg for dinner tonight.

I have seen all the movies, but rarely rewatch them.
I enjoy them, but not a big fan. Been to Galaxy's Edge (both parks) and it was fun to look at, but I don't feel a need to go back.
Guess I like The Last Jedi......mainly because of the crystal foxes and Porgs.......guess I like all the creatures

Dinner tonight cheese enchiladas and Spanish rice

Pretty busy day today, all things considered. Started the day at DH's office helping with some filing work. Then to the grocery store, which I was dreading. Unlike @Bianca and Bernard, my experience wasn't bad at all. I got everything on my list. Sometimes not the exact brand I usually bought, but at least the item. And at 12:30, the store was not at all crowded. No line to check out. My cart was overflowing. I was buying kid friendly food and treats for when DGD stays.

I got home to have a Zoom with both kids, which was nice. DS works in DC and was there to see the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly over. After dinner of spaghetti and salad, another Zoom for Worship team at church. The pastor can't see us going back to the old normal for sometime. Said there would be no singing because of the spread of breaths, etc. As a life long Methodist, a church without singing is unthinkable. Now just relaxing until TV show at 10.

I think I saw the original but that is all. Not all that interested.

Gratitudes:
Felt accomplished today - grocery shopping done without too much pain or anxiety,
Two Zooms: one with both kids, and one with members of my church.
Another beautiful spring day.

It has indeed been a bit better today. It wasn't quite as hot - they said that it hit 81 degrees in our area yesterday! It was breezy and sunny up until about 1 p.m. Josh and I read books, had a picnic lunch, took a walk, and watched some Facebook Live presentations. He was much more agreeable today, but I have to admit that around 4 p.m., I feel "talked out." He just never stops talking. Even watching the FB Live videos, he continues to talk through them. I've sometimes asked him if he likes the sound of his voice and he says yes

Star Wars was the very first movie I ever saw in a theatre. The first one (or fourth one, depending on how you look at it ;) ). I wasn't yet 3 years old when it came out but I've been a fan since then. I'm a total sci-fi/fantasy junkie...back when Star Wars came out, I was already watching things like Star Trek (in syndication), Battlestar Gallactica, and Buck Rogers on TV. I discovered the Twilight Zone soon after that, and then I found Doctor Who on our PBS station when I was in 3rd grade.

Luckily I married a man who loves it all as much as I do. One of the best concerts we ever attended was "Star Wars Live" at the casino - Anthony Daniels hosted! We go with DH's entire family to see John Williams conduct "Film Night at Tanglewood" every year, wearing our Star Wars t-shirts and playing with our mini light sabers. And now we've turned our kid to the Dark Side...

Spent a large portion of my day on the computer trying to order produce from new to me websites and confirmed something I suspected: I dislike the process, LOL. I want to have a general idea of what I want and finalize the decision when I get to the market having seen what looks best. I need to use all five senses and not depend upon how pretty it appears in a stock picture. Not crazy about buying meat encased in plastic either. COVID 19 inspired rant over.

The rest of my day was spent finding the right dishes to make for the freezer and the week's menu and doing food prep. This was more relaxing as I didn't have to venture into the modern day unknown:).

The home is a bit lonely without DGD and I'm missing her inane jokes and out of the blue observations. Son likes to remind me this is my "duty" and doesn't always get my whine. Like this was my future fantasy life when I was his age; children can be so stoopid and selfish when the mood hits. Sorry, kiddos. My life started long before you were born or even thought of. Pfft. Fortunately, DGD makes it worthwhile most days:).

Tonight's dinner was a bowl of green minestrone soup for me and a cup of it for the man. He also had a pork chop with pickled pepper sauce and farfalle (2 more pasta types gone which will make a visit to the Italian market worthwhile. Woo hoo!) :

I think this post solidified what my comfort food is: soup of various types, eaten any time of the year.

Made a fresh winter fruit salad as dessert for both of us.

Star Wars? After the trilogy my interest waned but my fav is probably the first with all the movie theatre presence reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Years. A film for the big screen as opposed to home theater no matter how large the screen.

To the bolded--this was me also, but I was a lot older than 3, even my kids were, lol! I think we saw it at the theater 3x. A year later, it was still playing at the same theaters, they had a big contest to win tickets. I won a 4 pack of tickets, and a signed framed poster of the movie. I saw the 5'th and 6'th the same way. I have seen the others at least once, except for the last 2. Kind of lost interest as I got older. The kids had every single action figure when they first came out. I would hit the store every Wed when the new batches were released and hunt for the ones missing from their set. The only one they ever broke was the original Luke Skywalker with the little lightsaber that slid out of his hand when you pressed the lever (they later stopped making them this way). I had to find them 2 of the original ones just in case they broke one. I swear they had every single Star Wars anything that ever came out. I stored them in the atttic when they got older, I hope someone remembers that they are there when they have kids of their own, lol. That or they can sell them, I think the original stuff brings a pretty good amount --at least on Ebay they seem to!
Dinner last nite was leftover seasoned chicken I had cooked in the crockpot on Sunday. Had it with a salad , cranberry sauce and leftover zucchini, as I was too tired to fix anything else.
Grateful that almost all of the yardwork is done, but I swear , as soon as I cross things off my 'to do ' list, I think of another one that has to be added to it, lol
Grateful that the new lawn mower works really well, 'almost' makes mowing the lawn fun again, and that was an 'almost' as everytime I mow, I feel like our yard gets bigger and bigger
Grateful that we got to talk to our granddaughters who live by Ocean City for a little while

I love the pic of your little Darth Vader,,too cute! I hope everyone had a great Star Wars day. and Happy Cinqo De Mayo today!

I like Star Wars, and have enjoyed the movies since they came out. Was in HS then. DH was a fan when I met him a few years later, so it's something we've enjoyed together. We brought our kids up as fans. Over the past several years as new movies come out we make a big deal about making a date to go together to see each and buying our tickets online ahead of time, going out to dinner before the movie, etc. It's a fun family activity that we can still do together even though our kids are older now (college seniors!). @lynxstch I would recommend your watching the last few movies, I believe I just saw the other day that they are now on Disney+ if you have it. I really like the newer characters and storylines.

Some Star Wars memories. When our kids were young (around 4; twins) we took a trip to the Brooklyn Art Museum where they were having a Star Wars exhibit that had all the original costumes on display. It was such a fun trip (later exploring all the boroughs of NYC). DS still has a big framed poster of C3PO in his room that we bought on that trip. When at WDW Star Wars always has to be part of our touring. We were there several weeks ago, just as the parks closed, and spent a (very hot) afternoon in Star Wars land, lol. DS knows way more than I do now about the characters and plots. (Which reminds me of his baseball growth, too, even though I helped him learn the game. ) DD enjoys watching but, like me, isn't always completely sure who everyone is and what's going on, but enjoys it nonetheless and likes that she can at least keep up and sort of talk the talk. I had the opportunity to get a Star Wars scrub cap recently but wasn't that into it that I'd go that far.

The last movie we saw, which I think was last year, was at capacity. During one of the scenes, two teenagers jumped out from their crowd of friends all dressed in Star Wars gear, complete with a light sabers, and started having a mock fight in the middle of the aisle! It was kind of comical we got a laugh out of it. They apparently were really into it and it was causing no harm. (Maybe just a little distraction.) I think they must've just not been unable to contain their excitement for the movie to finally arrive, lmao. It sort of reminded me of being at Disney.

Anyway, on my Kindle app right now is: The Roman Empire and the Silk Routes, Funny You Dont Look Autistic, S*it My Dad Says, Kingdom Keepers, The Day the World Came to Town, The Club King, Bloodsworth (the true story of the first death row inmate exonerated by DNA evidence), Evidence of Love, Bitter Blood, Cut and Run and the Handmaid's Tale. As you can see I tend towards non Fiction. I'm not terribly excited for any of these so if anyone has read something and can tell me to jump right in or pass, I'd appreciate it.

Of your list, I’ve read the Handmaid's Tale, and would recommend it, and once started a Kingdom Keepers with DS, but we didn’t really get into it.

Pilfering from your list, I‘m going to put Funny You Don’t Look Autistic on mine!

Question of the day: 5/4: May the 4th be with you...are you a star wars fan? Have a favorite movie?

Definitely a fan - favorites are episodes four and six (and “Baby Yoda” of course!) I watched some of a special on the original trilogy on Disney+ last night.

I still have my Return of the Jedi trading cards from when I was a kid, and DS has a bunch of toy light sabers from one summer when Star Wars was the big thing in the neighborhood.

I always enjoy May the 4th.

@NYCgrrl I have to say I am intrigued with your cooking style, you sound like a really amazing chef! I had to look something up that you mentioned the other day, I had never heard of it. (Four letter word for type of greens, can't remember the word yet, still working on first cup of coffee!) Have you had any formal training or classes? Or did you just learn from your family or on your own? Please share with us your cooking background! :hyper:

I watched the 1977 movie yesterday to celebrate Star Wars Day. We were supposed to be in WDW yesterday, today and through the week!:guilty:

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be alive! My Sister called me from Toms River NJ, to say she saw her first hummingbird of the year at her feeder. I look at my feeder now with renewed hope. None yet, here in Cape May!

I've seen some of the Star Wars movies that originally came out with Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in them. It's not really my thing, but I have more recently (mostly) gotten the hang of differentiating between Star Wars and Star Trek. My family has loved making fun of me for that confusion for years.

My neighbors have a huge lilac bush on the side by our house. It smells AMAZING. If you’re out in our yard, the breeze brings the fragrance over. A super simple thing, that I have no control over, but it’s awesome.

Mmm, I love lilacs! This spring season has been so strange. Our forsythia is only in full bloom right now, normally we see that anywhere from St. Patrick's Day to early April. Lilacs are only starting to show the signs of leafs and buds. I just hope we don't jump hard into summer without giving the luscious lilacs the chance to bloom and linger properly. We have two close enough to the house that sometimes when the wind shifts when they're in bloom the smell comes into our bedroom.
