Monkey Dawn, I have printed out offers both birthday and otherwise that I am not able to use right now in the hope that when I can, they will be honored. I got yesterday $10 during May from Off Broadway Shoes. Their stores are all closed so not going there anytime soon for new sneakers. I also had $10 Super Cash from Old Navy which technically I could have used online but then their is shipping along with what happens if what you order does not work? I am not a clothes shopping big fan in general and prefer for sure in store! I hope there is something you will be able to use once it is safe to do so. Anyway, prayers again you did have a Happy Birthday :)

Aw, thanks for the idea. I know its a very minor problem so I am trying not to concern myself with it too much. I might print off what I can find and try later.

You have to be careful with Old Navy, some of their on line items are not returnable in store. That said, a lot of places are extending return windows. Not sure that ON is one of them.

To the bolded. Other than Walmart, noone here is accepting returns at this time. Ollies will be extending returns to 90 days once they start accepting them again. Makes me not want to buy anything $$, just in case it doesn't work and I would have to be stuck with it till they do!

No one is excepting returns here in LA either. I THINK Target may now allow returns for items purchased before the pandemic began but am not 100% on that. We did order a pot on Wal-Mart.com that we were finally able to return when what came was not what we ordered. It was not easy but they were very nice. I have not been inside a store for a few weeks. I do remember at that time both a Pavilions and even 99 Cent only store had "all sales are final" signs posted. On Target's receipts there is no longer anything about returns.

Old Navy can in general be hit or miss! I have found over the years that identical items (same color/size) can fit differently! I don't get much there but over the Winter did get in the men's section (so much softer and thicker material than the women's) a few long sleeve T's. My Dad likes more of ON's clothes. Great point about online ordering at ON and in general--only order something you are fairly positive you are keeping!

Monkey Dawn, hug, I do hope you are able to use something when this is over :) FYI to everyone, IHOP also (I have not gotten a birthday coupon from them yet) always send a free stack of pancakes for your birthday+ when you first sign up for their emails they send another free pancake coupon. IMO, IHOP pancakes are the best 🥞

Wishing everyone a Blessed Sunday!

My comfort food is homemade beef stew. I make it in the crock pot a few times during the winter and it is delicious. Add a really nice bread like french bread or pretzel bread and I am so happy. Pizza can also be my comfort food especially pepper and onion pizza.

Today we are going to face time 2 of the grandkids in person. Of course we also get to see DS and DDIL. We will drive 50 minutes to take a 40 minute walk social distancing of course and then drive 50 minutes home. But it is so worth it!

We are in carb coma this evening. I made stuffed shells for the first time. Truth be told I don't know if I ever have had them before and wasn't quite sure what to stuff with but it was the only pasta around when I was at the store few weeks ago. I used my mixer to blend up a cooked chicken breast, cottage cheese (out of ricotta at the store) , seasoning, boxed chopped spinach drained, sundried tomatoes, quartered artichokes and cheese. I blended well and I liked it! Stuffed ton of shells, enough for casserole in the freezer and I topped with another diced chicken breast and white sauce. Served with a strawberry spinach salad and my husband raved about it.

It's quiet rainy, stormy day here and we are doing the last push of classes right now. I'm watching Hallmark movie right now and reviewing (obviously not too much lol). Church was fine with lot connection issues. Church is supposed to open back up next Sunday but I think we are going to hold back for a while. There is lot of cases in our area and we are planning to go see Grandma next weekend and drop groceries by Matt's mom house on the way.

I hope everyone is doing well in this difficult time. We are one day closer to being able to hug our families and hopefully one day closer to some treatment and maybe even a vaccine.

Gratitude:
1. Luxury of having lots good food and stocked pantry at our home. There were lot of days when I was young that was not happening.
2. Hallmark channel. Sometimes I just want something easy to watch that doesn't need lot of attention and can just be sweet.
3. I'm grateful that people are doing the best they can to adapt to this difficult time and stay connected however we can.

Peace and good health to all.

Question of the day: 5/3: Whatcha reading?

I know I have asked this question not too long ago but figured people were picking up something else to read now. I'm going to need ideas to load on the kindle when we are up north at Grandma's house. I'm reading the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and I'm really enjoying it. Very easy and interesting and engaging.

Firstly, hugs to all Vertigo sufferers. I was sorry to read a few of you deal with that.

Tina, nice to "see" you, thanks for sharing the picture. Good for Matt for helping, that was nice of him :)

My poor hair lol! I have super fine medium length hair that dries out lickety split and will tangle quicker than it being brushed. I have tried so many products and nothing seems to last. At the end of last year I did get from a Great Clips, a leave in conditioner spray that helped some...but it is long gone now. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Lynxstch, home made mashed potatoes sound delightful to me! Creamier the better :) That would definitely be part of a bigger comfort meal for me! Most comfort dessert will always be toll house cookies with milk chocolate chips--good memories of Grandma who made such tasty cookies.

I am not a wind fan at all. However it was a Blessing earlier as it helped circulate some cooler air in the apartment.

Grateful also to have been able to ask a close friend for some extra prayers along with church prayer group.

Grateful for a note from a friend in the mail along with my first birthday card of the year (I am saving to open that until my actual birthday :))

I have thick curly hair that is always sucking moisture dry. I use Potion #9 from Sebastian. You can buy it at an Ulta or where variety of hair products sold. There is also version called Potion #9 Lite but that may be better for fine hair to not cause buildup. I love my Sebastian product and small amount goes long ways!

Comfort foods for me are a soft boiled egg over toast when I’m not feeling well, or, like a pp mentioned, meatloaf, mashed and string beans, a homemade sauce and meatballs, or a chili or chowder, etc.

We grill a lot. I think I mentioned the other day we bought a new grill. What I didn’t notice was that it is not a typical grill it is more like a large pan cooking surface than fire with a grilling rack. DH explained it in the store but I didn’t understand. Now it’s home and all set up. He said he’s seen these advertised and wanted to try it as we often grill vegetables and such. I just wonder if we’ll miss the char part (which I know can be unhealthy). Do any of you have this type of grill and do you like it? I guess we’ll see how it goes. It’s going to have to be cleaned differently too. Seems like more work (which defeats the purpose of grilling). :worried:

We have some kind of gas Weber grill at home. I honestly don't know much about it but we use a grill basket to grill the veggies. Truth be told Matt still isn't that great on the grill and gets nervous and I'm trying to stay away and let him learn. Anyways, the grill basket allows to get some char but more about the heated up flavor and I really like it! We load it with chopped veggies whatever we have gets good and crispy.

Reading The 19th Christmas (Women's Murder Club by James Patterson).
I really don't get much time to read. We are in the midst of spring cleaning. Another week or so to go.
Also trying to do at least 2 pages of scrap books a day and coloring 2 pages of the page a day calendar that I am about 4 months behind one. Taking this chance to get caught up on things.

95 out right now.
Dinner is Chicken, Ham, Pecan Salad. One of my favorites.

Happy Sunday. Finally a beautiful spring day. "Went" to church online then virtual coffee hour, which was nice. Up to 75 today. DH and I took a 11.5 mile bike ride along the C and D Canal. Then we had Mexican carry out for dinner.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping. Our grocery store recently remodeled so I write my list using the store directory so I can find everything in order. Wish me luck. I used to enjoy grocery shopping but now I dread it.

Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center. I have read several of her books and really enjoy her writing. This is an easy read. I only have one more library book left and I'll have to start scrounging the house or figure out Hoopla or Overdrive.

Gratitudes:
Church and church friends
Beautiful day today
Able to go on a nice bike ride.

struggled with this thread and then read this post.....so my comfort food....anything cooked in an air fryer....no mess and so easy.....and very good food!!!!

I'm so sorry if I have made this thread about girl talk or uncomfortable with it. I'm certainly open to discussing absolutely anything. If I don't know anything about the topic, I can make it up with the best of the internet!

Thanks, Tina, for the product suggestion. My hair does build up because of being so fine. That causes more dryness :( Wow that your church is opening back up next week! Prayers that goes well. I sadly don't think my own church will be having in person service any time soon. I miss it terribly. I am enormously grateful to all who make online Worship possible that is for sure! I was talking with a church friend last night and we both also agreed every so often watching the service makes not being able to be there even harder. I felt that way this morning when the children's and youth's choir director accompanied on piano one of the Youth singers. Missed them both extra.

Nancy, thanks for sharing your picture yesterday.

I am most grateful today for:

My Dad finding Lysol Wipes at Ralph's!
Nice phone conversation last night and texts this morning with friends.
A new week ahead that I pray indeed brings us closer to the end of this mess.

I will probably read an old Baby-sitters Club book later just for fun. I enjoy Love Inspired Romances (The Christian line from Harlequin. Just the regular books in this series no suspense or historical, etc.) It can also be heartwarming to read anecdotes of acts of kindness or Heavenly intervention and of course always a good thing to read the Holy Bible.

Throughly enjoyed that book. It was very interesting and you do need to have a box of tissues ready ( at least I did- lol). I loved how the favorite books were the scrapbooks with recipes and quilt patterns. Kinda of like their updates to the outside world. What an interesting job to have back in that time. I had to google the pack horse librarians to see all the old pictures. Great book! Hope you enjoy it too.
I am currently not reading anything at the moment. I don’t want to read anything to sad, scary, or drama filled right now. I can only handle light and cheery so if you or anyone has any recommendations, please share. :)

Have you read any of the Stephanie Plum series? They first 10 or so are hilarious then they get boring from the same formula though I continue to read.

2. Hallmark channel. Sometimes I just want something easy to watch that doesn't need lot of attention and can just be sweet.

Ditto!! I've been loving the mystery movies lately - Aurora Teagarden, Hannah Swensen, Angie Dove...

I've also slowly been taping some of the weekly Christmas movies. Some rainy day, I'm going declare it "Christmas in May" and watch them all day.

My "Downstairs Book" right now is How we talk : American regional English today, by Allan Metcalf

I'm finding it very interesting!

And at bedtime, I'm rereading the Harry Potter series. (I'm currently in Chamber of Secrets.)

Question of the day: 5/3: Whatcha reading?

Vendetta in Death by J.D. Robb. It's the 49th book in a series of crime novels set in near-future New York City. JD Robb is a pen name for the romance writer Nora Roberts.

I've read this whole series. I'm getting kinda bored with them, honestly. I've been very bad at reading so far this year. I started this book in January and I'm still reading it. I usually try to read between 15-20 books a year. Yeah, I've failed spectacularly at that this year. I want to make sure I finish this soon, though, because there's a new Star Wars book coming out in June.

I'm just having a bad day today. It was so beautiful out - maybe even a bit *too* warm for me. It just took us forever to get outside...by the time we got ourselves straightened out, it was after lunch. We took a walk but today it just wore me out. Like complete muscle weakness (which I get from time to time)...it literally hurt to stand up. So tired, too. I tried but I just couldn't do it today.

And then after dinner, DH took Josh up to his room to play for 30, maybe 45 minutes, then when it's time for Josh's bedtime...I go upstairs to find that they've torn his bed apart AGAIN. Every. Single. Night. And DH NEVER puts it back together. Nope, that's MY job. I just...can't anymore. I'm tired of hearing about how nice he thinks it is to go to work; there are only about 5 people there, it's quiet, customers have had their loans settled for the most part, so hardly anyone calls now. Must be nice to have some peace and quiet for 8 hours a day.

I'm not sure if I truly have a comfort meal. Food doesn't comfort me. It usually makes me feel guilty. But you know what just hit my brain? Nachos. Oh boy, give me a nice plate of loaded nachos...I will go to town! ;)

Right now I'm reading Bottle Toss by Howard Odentz. He is a very local author and I believe his books are only available electronically through Amazon. He had posted on our town's open forum many months ago, so I put this book on my list, then I found it on sale a few nights ago for 99 cents. He then posted the very next day about the sale! I like the book because he set it in a fictionalized version of the next town over, and he slightly changed the names of actual places - it's fun to figure out where everything is!

@apirateslifeforme :grouphug: Being a parent -.a Mom- certainly has its challenging days along with the easier ones. May you have a great week this week! (And that would drive me crazy too!)

I am more of a news junky than I am a novel reader. I also like informational books, I am studying for a certification exam and pulled out some old gardening books recently. I have a lot of dog books around the house that either I pick up or people give me.
