My favorite cake is chocolate, hands down, any variety. German chocolate is my least favorite, but I'd still scarf it down!

I'm also very fond of apple spice. We had it at our wedding, so I try to make it every year on our anniversary. I've never settled on a recipe and the bakery we used for the wedding has closed.

Another favorite cake is pistachio. Remember the watergate cake made with pistachio pudding and dream whip? Yum.

Sorry to stray from the cake question but I've got three very ripe bananas I need to so something with. Anybody have a recipe they could share for basic banana bread(muffins?) or something like that??

I only have the 3 bananas and basic baking items as I'm not planning on going to the store anytime soon. Thanks....

I used this one last time (skipping the nutmeg because I didn't have any) -

My family was happy.

The best homemade cake I've eaten in years was a strawberry cake made by elder sister for Easter a few years back. I told her it should be her go to signature dessert. Real berry taste with no Jello added. Excellent crumb, and just the right amount of sugar. Delish to the nth and as I told her if Nana and Papa were still alive Papa would tell Nana to get the recipe; high praise indeed on this end. Since there will only be three of us for this year's Easter dinner I want to make it but in a smaller amount.

I'm not a proficient cake baker so when I want store bought cake I hotfoot it to a bakery, stare hard at the chocolate everyone else loves and generally grab a citrus based dessert;).

Not a huge fan of cake, but there is a bakery near us that makes a Five Flavor POundcake that is amazing. It has a mix of 5 different falvors...coconut, almond, vanilla, amaretto and something else (I assume crack).

As a kid I loved chocolate chip. Vanilla cake with chocolate chips mixed in.

This is a really easy recipe and very good.
Banana Bread
1 egg
1 cup sugar
¼ cup butter – melted
3 bananas – mashed
1 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Beat egg, add sugar and butter, then bananas. Add sifted dry ingredients. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 45-55 minutes (Usually takes longer – 65-75 minutes.) Or use 3 small loaf pans for 40-45 minutes.

Favorite flavor of cake: chocolate, if we’re talking brownie cake. If it’s just normal cake, then basic vanilla. Although now that I’m writing this, I remember that I really like angel food cake too.
I don't like chocolate, so chocolate cake is a NO from me, unless it's a Black Forest and liberally flavored with almond extract. I do absolutely LOVE angel food though and plain white cake. They're both sublime with fruit filling and whipped cream. :cloud9:

:goodvibes Today I'm grateful to have cleared quarantine and gone back to work. It is incredible how much less apocalyptic everything seems with even that one bit of normalcy to life, even with all the other restrictions still in force. Anyone who hasn't been in full lock-down can't really understand.
