Dream trip:

We were suppose to sail from Miami to Barcelona in May, then 5 days in Rome, that's not happening.

My husband is against any cruise or flights the rest of the year, so we will do a couple trips to Disney World.

I started planning an October trip this week, got some great reservations at our favorite places in Disney to eat.
I asked my husband where he wanted to stay, he replied,"did you check my "on call" dates yet?
Of course, its his weekend on call...... :sad1:
So I will start over again for the 2nd week in October and hope I can get back some of those restaurants.

Then, we will go back again for Christmas season.

If I could pick what I really wanted to do, it would be to fly to NYC for a few days, then take The Disney Magic to Bermuda for a 5 night cruise. But he's burst that bubble.

Question of the day and challenge 4/7: What is a vacation/location you still want to see? Challenge: Reach out to someone today.

We cancelled the two vacations we still want to take. However, both were cruises, and I am not sure that’s what they will be.

I hope to visit Australia, and DH and I hope for Rome and Israel.

Will be mailing a greeting card today to a friend who will be surprised!

DW and I were going to celebrate our 30th anniversary with a trip to London, May, 2018. 2 years ago today--April 7, 2018--my car slid on black ice and I shattered my pelvis, dislocated my hip, internal bleeding, etc.

Needless to say we didn't take our London trip. We still want to take it, and it will be an amazing trip, for many reasons, when we finally get there.

ETA: I've recovered really well, thanks to the medical team and physical therapists who took care of me. I still have some nerve damage where I can't lift my left foot, but otherwise I'm back to where I was before the accident and I'm truly blessed. The things that keep us from taking that London trip aren't related to my health.

If I could fulfill my bucket list of trips, I would someday still love to see Egypt, New Zealand, and Australia. Closer to the USA trips would be Hawaii.

Challenge for the day--accepted. I reached out to my ex sister in law who I haven't had contact with in a long time. We chatted like the 'sisters' we used to be, and caught up on each other's lives. It made both of our days, and we plan to stay in touch, so once again Tina, thanks for your continued dedication to this thread!

We really want to just see the United States. We're thinking of heading out to Ohio next year - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (even though Duran Duran isn't in it yet), the Christmas Story house, the Football Hall of Fame, stuff like that. I REALLY want to spend a few days in Savannah, Georgia. When DS is a little older, we want to take him to Washington DC, Philadelphia, Williamsburg, etc. Mt. Rushmore (which I've heard is a bit of a let-down, but I'd still like to see it). I want to go to Disneyland in CA. I could be here forever listing all the places and things we want to see in our country alone!

When our son is old enough to appreciate it, we want to go to England, Ireland, and Scotland. I went to England as part of a class trip when I was in middle school and fell in love. We also went to France, Switzerland, and Germany, but I absolutely loved England.

DH is antsy to get back to Canada. Toronto. Once we get passports, we'll take a few days to visit Niagara Falls and go over the border into Canada as well.

DH and I would love to be one of those people who sells everything and buys an RV when we retire. Just travel the country for a few years. Our son will only be in his early 20s, so we're thinking it might be fun (if he still thinks we're cool) (which he won't, I'm sure ;)).

Still planning on going to WDW......May's trip won't happen but we have December booked and hopefully will fit another in while our AP is still active.
We still have our Egypt trip.....(one of my bucket list places) for February and I hope we can make it.
Hope to continue cruising. We have a June family cruise booked, but I don't think that is going to happen either. And so hard to work with 7 peoples schedule.
Next year is a Disneyland year for us so hope for 3 trips.
Grand Canyon is planned for October....me, DD and DGD

Dinner tonight is in the crock pot. Azteca chicken with green salad

Oh yes....get to the Pacific Northwest. We lived north of Seattle for over 30 years.
It is a great place.

Hey Meriweather..are you sure we aren't related-lol ,,Egypt has always been my 'dream' destination, and hoping someday to actually be able to see it. I have loved Egyptology since I was a teenager, and to actually see them in person would be the most thrilling thing in the world. I hope, hope, hope you still get to take that trip!

P.S. what is Azteca chicken and can you share the recipe, I love chicken, but am running out of new ideas for it..TIA

🙏Tina on your Grandma. God Bless your Grandparents on a 66 almost 67 year marriage, that is amazing! :) LOL, thank you for making me smile with your fruit/treat comment, I hope you enjoyed! I was also awakened early this morning (I know this will sound weird but it's true) by the tablecloth in my window falling down! Yes, you all read that right. A couple months ago all the windows in this building were replaced. At that time, all the old window air conditioners were taken out as well. (We are fully expecting new A/c's sooner than later because it will get hot in LA before long)! Anyway, the blinds on my bedroom window in one section were cut short to hang just above the old a/c, old a/c as I said is gone, short blinds still there...thus needing to cover the space with a Valentine heart tablecloth taped up! Now to put it back in place for tonight. It was a Blessing because it gave me extra time to pray and get to Pavilions with my Dad right when they opened for senior shopping.

Three extra things I am grateful for today:

Getting a Monopoly in the Pavilion's store contest worth $5 in cash
Big weekly grocery shopping is done
No line inside the bank when I went to make a payment

I did reach out to the laundry mat attendant with a thank you card. She is so friendly and does a wonderful job keeping the place constantly clean. She was very appreciative.

I am pretty much a homebody...I will feel so Blessed when I am able to take a 20-25 minute trip to church again⛪Of course, one day when it is safe, how extra fun it will be to visit ::MickeyMo and ::MinnieMo at Disneyland.

For years Aruba has been on my bucket list and is now moving closer to the top. We have a southern Caribbean cruise booked for February 2021 out of Baltimore. Now I wonder if I am going to want to cruise then at all. We like to cruise but if there isn't a vaccine by then, not so sure.

I usually visit a church member who is in a nursing home. I just got out a note card to drop her a note.

Vacations I want to take are a little bit of a sore subject, but here we go:

Hawaii, many of you may have read in one thread or another that we had to cancel our big two week, three island, family trip for my mom's 60th birthday that was supposed to be in early May. Now we need to figure out how to make that happen even though we are committed to a family vacation with my husband's family next year...

A couple years ago, for our 10 year wedding anniversary, my husband and I were planning a whirlwind trip to visit all of the international Disney parks. The same week that we were going to start booking things, we found out that his best friend was getting married smack dab in the middle of our trip. We weren't going to miss his wedding because, not only did my husband want to attend, but also because his friend is military and got leave to come to our wedding so we certainly weren't going to miss his for vacation. We didn't want to change the dates because my husband has always dreamed of watching a stage of the Tour de France in person, so everything was scheduled around that as well. Maybe one day.

To celebrate milestone birthdays for me and my stepdad, my family and some close family friends were supposed to go on a cruise this month from Amsterdam to Antwerp to see the tulips.
When it is safe to travel again I’d like to see Mt. Rushmore.
I’m grateful I got to celebrate both birthdays with my parents and friends in person in mid\late February before things got crazy.

Aulani - I want to take my family to Hawaii so bad!

Disney’s Hilton Head Island - Flights from my area to the HH area are usually direct and pretty cheap, so I’d like to go here for a relaxing vacation.

NYC - I’ve never been, so I want to get there someday and see a Broadway show.

WDW - I neeeeddd to go back! Hoping March 2022.

Mount Rushmore is brilliant. While in the area, I strongly suggest Custer State Park, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. I hope you do go to all those wonderful areas that you mentioned!

Custer State Park is beautiful. Mount Rushmore is a bit underwhelming, but it's still incredible to see and think about the work and determination it took to make it happen.

Happy Wednesday,

It's gorgeous spring day here. It's in the 70s and then supposed to be in the 40s/50s so that's exciting. Nothing like trying to figure out if I have the plague or allergies. Lots others trying to figure it out too I'm sure. I'm just kind of going through the motions today I think. I really just want to kick the crap out of something lol I swear I don't have anger issues but this whole thing and all the damage and hurt is just a lot. I'm starting to show signs of why I need to start treatments but it's not life saving, which I'm thankful for, so we are postponing. It's just disappointing.
We will get through it. After all, every day we are a day closer to being "over" with this and getting back to what we need to be doing.

Dinner tonight is old people chili dogs (turkey dogs, veggie can chili, wheat buns with cheese, onions and jalapenos) with sliced up fruit.

Gratitude:

1. Another blessed day that is beautiful with everyone I love seems to be doing well.
2. Thankful for texting. I love having texts and ways to do quick outreach just to send love.
3. I'm thankful for the amount of good people and big hearts in the world. People trying to help make a difference however they can.
We have so many good people around.

Pease and good health to my DIS family..

Question of the day 4/8: What's your drink of choice alcohol or nonalcoholic?

I love iced coffee. I miss getting my iced coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin'. I go through the dunkin' in afternoon when it was $2 for medium. I'm cheap lol I also love a good glass iced tea from somewhere like McAlister Deli. We keep almost a full bar here at the house too. I love a good margarita on the rocks, not frozen. I also happen to like really nice flavored quality tequila on ice. I haven't had a drink in about 6 months with all my health issues and look forward to when I can get back to enjoying a drink here and there.

My Matt is a beer guy and we have few different kinds besides the bar stuff. For his 40th, we toured Jack Daniel's distillery and George Dickel distillery. We just HAD to have special $100 bottle of Jack only sold there. I have to admit it's smooth and I only cough a little.

Iced tea or diet Coke
DH's is Coke Zero......morning, afternoon and evening

I managed Costco today and the first time wearing a face mask......so hot by the end of that.
It is DH's birthday today so we are having dinner delivered (we never do that!)
