So I went to our "local" Sam's club and my feelings were just meh about it. I used up my $45 credit (and then some...) on basics such as tp & paper towels and whatnot. I think I'm going to stick to the Costco I frequent - both the stores are about the same distance from me anyway. I've never used the gas stations at either place - I know the one up at the Costco is always mobbed! Do you need a Costco cc to use it, or just a membership card?
I mostly buy at Costco. Sam's has Fancy Feast canned cat food. Costco stopped carrying it.

For gas, use your membership card and any Visa. I actually scan my Costco visa and then use the Disney Visa because it's 5% until end of September. In my world as a retiree, I have time to make my pennies count. Time was a luxury when I was working.

In summer I bought a couple of boxes of Welch's Italian Ice at Sam's, the small tubes you freeze. The DGD's and us also loved these. Costco didn't carry anything similar.

I also like Sam's apple turnovers, but prefer Costco's danish.

I go to Costco way too often, but visit Sam's about once per month for the cats.

I use both for gas while traveling south.

I really don't see much at Sam's that tempts me too much, but I do see some of the same items Costco carries.

For those that do Disney in Florida, and who like Rainforest Cafe, Trex, Yak n Yeti, Costco has Landry gift cards $100 worth for $79.99. They are also good at Morton's, McCormick and Schmicks and many other spots.

Those danish are to die for.

Good afternoon.

Busy weekend and finally catching up.

Saturday was the Crab Crawl in the next town. It is a fundraiser for the library. $50 get you tickets for small plates at 6 different locations, all featuring crab. It runs for 5 hours and took us about that long. DS, his wife, and Marty came with DH and me. Marty didn't eat but got a lot of attention. The food was crab soup (Maryland or bisque), crab nachos, crab pizza, crab balls, shrimp stuffed with crab meat, and a plate with potato salad topped with crab flavored potato chip and deviled eggs with crab. We were full so didn't have dinner but went out to a farm stand with ice cream.

DS spent the night then the 3 of them went to church with us. DS and DDIL spoke to the pastor about getting Marty baptized there, which pleased me. Then DD and family came up and we all had lunch. I made mac and cheese, DD brought chicken grillers/sausages, DS made fruit salad. All very good. DD went home and DS stayed and watched the Ravens game with DH before they headed home. We only had grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner.

Today I went to church to teach a new volunteer how to set up communion. Then DH and I made several stops for birthday shopping. I have DS, DDIL, and DsonIL in the next 4 weeks.

Laundry is running and I am catching up on things I let go over the weekend. I still have toys to put away. Tonight I am cooking cut up chicken breast with a can of diced tomatoes and a zucchini and serve over noodles.

I have started getting ready for our Disney trip.
When do you leave and where are you staying? I am nosey.
Just waving hello.

Putting off some boring chores.
My kind of post, short and sweet.
it felt wrong to celebrate on this day.
MIL's birthday was September 11. At least after 2001 I could remember the date.
I'm really hoping to turn the AC off and air out the house.
We have had ours off a while. We have some trees around, and with the fans and coolr nights, we can live without it.
Have arrived safely in Maine, and DS is doing OK
Good news!

Happy Monday...

Speaking of Costco, I'm headed there soo to get some TP and paper towels. Saturday, DD asked for TP which I usually keep a package in my bathroom cabinet. There was none in there so I told her in the garage so I went out to get it and the box I store it in was empty....I was shocked. LOL I had to run up to my dad's house to borrow 2 rolls as we were literally completely out. It's the first time since March 2020 I've been without an extra pack in the garage. Right before everything went crazy in 2020, I had just done a big shop so I had an new package of TP and paper towels. When the shortages started, we were fine because I still had some of a used pack and the new pack so I started to pick one up when I finished one and always had the extra. I don't know what happened this time to completely run out. Reminds me of when I was little as we were always running out of TP abd had to us tissues or paper towels until someone would get to the store.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting one of their meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. It's so good. I also need to pick up a prescription at my medical office since it's close to Costco. I should've headed out earlier but I cleaned the kitchen and going through mail...which I haven't done in awhile.

@flyingdumbo127 thanks for the postcard...sorry it took me so long to see it.. :flower3: I also agree with @lynxstch about checking Lowe's and Home Depot for a fridge. We bought one for my dad not to long ago from Lowe's, it was on sale, they had alot of options to choose from. They also delivered, installed and took away the old one(they did change extra for that).

@PollyannaMom hope your DS continues to feel better.

@Kirby that's is the cutest story about LouLou ready to defend her brother. Soo cute.

@Bianca and Bernard sounds like a great trip to see your kids. Love a road trip. I don't know if I mentioned before DH was a Marine(well you know once a Marine, always a Marine...lol) We met when he was stationed at Camp Pendleton and we lived there or first couple years of marriage. Oceanside had some great memories for us. :lovestruc

I guess thats all...I forgot to do quotes again and my memory is terrible...lol

Have a great rest of your day.

@PollyannaMom Glad your DS is doing a bit better. Will send prayers his way.

@Pea-n-Me It sounds like you had a nice birthday weekend.

@flyingdumbo127 I also would look at Lowe's or Home Depot if possible. The prices and selection seem to be better than Best Buy.

I visited with younger DS and the 3older grandkids yesterday. DDIL still testing positive so we mainly stayed out of her way and did some errands with the kids. My youngest DGD held hands with me in all the stores and parking lots. She was so sweet. Older DGD led the way as she likes to do. And DGS just follows his older sister. The baby Sam is doing well but I didn't see him as he was home with mom. Older DS painted his front door. His soon to be ex painted the door raspberry pink a few years ago. He asked her to paint it any color other than pink so she paints it raspberry. He painted it a nice medium blue which goes nicely with the gray/blue siding on the house. I like pink but it did not go with the house at all. At least DS is happy with the door now.

I worked today and then went to the bank. I came back, had lunch, and then took apart some collage frames that Chris had done with pictures of the grandkids in them. Each grandkid had a 6 picture collage which Chris could not keep up with changing pictures as the kids grew. So, I decided I want to do something different. I am going to get a 2 picture frame for each grandkid. I will put a baby picture in one side and the current picture on the other. That way I only have to change the picture once a year. The collage frames were unwieldy and had sharp glass frames for each picture. On my next day off I will go to Michael's to find what I am looking for. Next I will go for my last walk of the day, have some yogurt, and then qi gong that my friend teaches on zoom. Tomorrow I am meeting the same friend for lunch. It is something to look forward to.

Have a good night.

Have arrived safely in Maine, and DS is doing OK. Thank you all for the prayers and well-wishes!

It seems to have been related to an allergic reaction. - He ate something that he didn't realize had scallops in it. (Ever since he was born, scallops have made me violently ill, and I had previously loved them, so we always figured he was allergic, and that it had somehow affected me as well.)

Anyway, he got dehydrated. His roommates took him to the ER and he had fluids and some medicine and is feeling a lot better.

Scallops make me violently ill also. I've avoided them since I was a kid.

A bunch of years ago we got takeout from a seafood spot and one of the dishes ordered was a seafood dip with a cheese sauce. I ate a bit and instantly got sick. Later on I called the restaurant and found out there were scallops in it.

I can eat most other seafood. There are some varieties I just don't care for.

So nice to come back to many new shares. Thank you all for continuing to be a Quacker! You all are indeed so dear to me and I thank you always, you know that 🐥❤️

I am not a Costco or Sam's Club member so no help there. I do have one friend who definitely gets her ⛽at Costco. Do any of you whether they still sell discounted stamps and what that discount is?

:thanks:all for the fridge suggestions and support. I'll definitely keep my Quacker family posted. First step will be Best Buy on Wednesday because as I said, dad is going there anyway and it's closer to us than Home Depot. That will come next for sure. Blessing extra from God that our current fridge is working well now so we have some replacement time! We'll definitely not be waiting to get a new fridge until this one dies. Dad was in that position once already with this current fridge already! Much better all-around and also more economical both in terms of shopping around and not wasting food to plan ahead when possible.

What matters is you got the postcard, AuntieMe3. Never a hurry to get back to me, my friend

I watched a little of the new pastor's (at my church pre Covid) first sermon from yesterday. I will simply say he seemed nice. I much enjoyed a ton more worship from your church, Carol! I will absolutely be looking into other local church options, God-willing, one day when Covid is much more under control.

Wishing all of dear you a good evening with a good night's rest! 🌠

Hi! Winding down…Tom’s knee replacement is tomorrow. We’re to be there at 7, not bad. I’m able to drive him. I wasn’t sure if I could grip the wheel, and I can. He’ll spend one night. He has an at home PT appointment on Friday.

I am healing nicely. The bandage comes off tomorrow.

I have a few friends with a seafood allergy. Some of them had that happen later in life. One friend is so sad she can’t eat shrimp any more.

Judique, I am glad you stopped eating in time since you didn’t expect there to be scallops in it.

Goodnight!💤

🙏🏻 for your husband for a successful and safe surgery tomorrow, @bobbiwoz.

We do know most anything can be ordered on Amazon lol. For a fridge, we are old fashioned and would prefer to see it in person.
See what you like in person, then see if you can find it at a better price online. Just consider all the factors like set up and taking the old one away. 👍🏻

Good night to all! 🐥

Good Tuesday morning! :sunny:

Very fall like around here until Thursday when summer returns for a week.🥵 Looks like I'll be turning the AC back on.

I was kind of in a funk last week. Called around to see about getting new struts for the front of my car, $1600 😢. Made me sick to my stomach 🤢. Just seems like every time I have a plan to get ahead something knocks me back even further. Ended up making an appointment for my car for Friday, praying it will be cheaper and they don't find anything else wrong.

Saturday, Ds3 & I went down to Ds1's new house and helped him sand the walls and I trimmed out the bedrooms. All he has to do is paint the living room, dining room and hallway 🎨. Looks like they should be able to move in by the end of this month.

Sunday I just sat at home and watched football all day 🏈.

Yesterday I worked from home so I was able to run a couple of errands and I got my flu shot 💉. Last night I went to Pilates class, I haven't been in a few weeks 🧘‍♀️.

That's about it, have a great day.

Keeping both of you in my thoughts today as he faces the knee surgery and both of you face the road to recovery ahead.

When is your next trip to Disney or Hilton Head? Something to look forward to as you both heal.

I'm going mid November to BWV and VGF and then again end of January to Hilton Head for 4 nights in a studio and then on to Boardwalk Villas for 5 nights plus a night in a Tower Studio as an add on to enjoy Riviera.

I have 3 nights after HH and before BWV that I must plan and I'm thinking of going to a coastal resort, just not sure which state or whether it will be atlantic side or gulf side yet. I always crave that walk on the beach no matter how cold or windy it may be.

Good morning! Another Fall feeling morning out there..only 55, going to mid 70's again. I can take this weather for the rest of the year, lol.

@bobbiwoz Good luck to Tom today with his surgery, and I'm glad your hand is doing better. Just drive carefully!

Mr L has a nephrology appt this afternoon,,and I am craving a Big Mac, so planning on stopped at McD's after that for a late lunch/early dinner. We don't do fast food often, but every now and then I get the craving, lol. Will also stop at the farmers stand and see if they still have corn. The fields around here are looking pretty bare.

SIL and niece have to go to Morgantown again. This is just crazy. They have to go today, again tomorrow and again Thursday. I find it ridiculous that the medical place can't put all of their appts on the same day :(

Off to clear a little more stuff out of the cellar, before they come over tomorrow to move the wood. I already have more space than I did yesterday and will have a lot more tomorrow, lol

Have a great day everyone

Glad you are feeling better, good luck to your husband , fingers crossed he has a successful experience w/ his knee replacement.
Hi all. Just a real quick hello.
Good morning, hope the kids & you are hanging in there.
Ended up making an appointment for my car for Friday, praying it will be cheaper and they don't find anything else wrong.
Fingers crossed for you.

Good morning everyone. Had a delightful heavy duty thunderstorm and hard rain last night around 9ish. Fried our basement TV, however this happened before and we were able to just replace a part and it worked so hopefully we can just do that again. Opened the doors in the bedroom that lead to the porch to listen to it for a while.

No clue about supper this evening, maybe fish?

Thank you all for prayers and all words on encouragement!! It poured all the way to the hospital! I took this, in spite of the rain, the sun was coming up.
We were on the bridge just before Somers Point NJ. Yes, he was driving.

Now we are home, waiting for a call. Gus is waiting for Tom.

Good morning.

I have an eye exam this morning. New optometrist. My first eye exam in 40 years not from DH. Not sure how this will go. I never had to be serious about it before.

Tom’s knee replacement is tomorrow.
Hope all goes/went well. And, aaahhhh for Gus waiting for Tom.
Had a delightful heavy duty thunderstorm and hard rain last night around 9ish.
We had nothing. So disappointed. We were promised thunderstorms and possible flooding and maybe has 3 minutes of light rain.

Good morning.

Only 74 here right now but it's muggy.

Been busy the past couple of days.

Sunday's craft fair I wanted to go to was rained out. We did go to my son's house, and I had so much fun with LJ. He is getting so big and trying to talk, but he talks gibberish, Spanish and English. He loved the car I bought for him so that made me happy at least. I did not watch the football game and was a little upset that the Eagles won. I am not rooting for them because I don't like the way management has handled certain player situations. I was happy to see Carson Wentz do well and win. He is one of the reasons I stopped rooting for the Eagles. My son watches something called the Red Zone because they all play Fantasy Football, and it gives me a headache.

Yesterday I tackled my hall closet. I think I need to join Couponers Anonymous. By the time I was cleaning and throwing things out I had: 80 razors, 42 bars of soap, 24 tubes of toothpaste, 20 deodorants, about 40 bottles of shampoo, 10 bottles of shower gel, 6 Large bottles of Lotion and who knows what else. Most of these things were free or under $1.00. I did manage to get to the top shelf that had a milk crate with papers in it - from 2001-2004. They were all tossed right into the trash truck today. It was nice to get it all organized though. Jay is going to repair the bottom shelf so I can put the bathroom cleaning supplies in there also. The top shelf will be able to hold spare towels. One thing I found though amazed me since I totally forgot buying them. I have TWO 25th Anniversary Disney World Barbies. Not sure what I will do with them as neither of my daughters want them.

Today my DH went to his breakfast and I didn't need to take him. One of his friends is back from his summer home down the shore and will take him every month. I am thrilled because while he was gone, I was able to give the downstairs a thorough cleaning without him underfoot. He thinks I have become a cleaning fanatic and I am just happy to have some control back in the house. He is a pack rat, of things we do not need, like 4 copies of the same movie because he likes it. I have managed to get rid of a lot of stuff while he is out, and he never notices.

Now I can sit and relax for a few minutes until he comes home. The only thing left is vacuuming the stairs and hallway.

Hope you all have a nice day.
