Good morning all

@Kirby--sorry for your loss, glad she was able to open her eyes and see her brother before the end.

Its 27 out now, but they say we will be going to 65!
Watched Olympics closing ceremony. It was nice, but too long. NBC listing said it would be 2 hours, which is what I had set to tape, but added an extra hour, just in case. Good thing I did, it went till almost 11. Mr L's one question throughout the games was,,why does NBC let Johnny Weir wear such extreme outfits? Everyone else is dressed appropriately, he's always way over the top. Next games are in Milan, we are hoping they dump him as a commentator before then, lol!

Today is wash the floors day, since the rain and mud are all gone. Might make a meatball pizza for dinner tonite, I am not really in the 'cooking a big meal' mood. We still have pork tenderloin left from last nite, but I don't like to have the same thing 2 nights in a row, except for chicken. I could eat that every night, Mr L doesn't like it. He's scarred from childhood when an Uncle threw a live chicken at him and it landed on his head,,lol..makes me laugh everytime he tells me about it, even though to him it was far from funny!

Have a nice day everyone

QOTD: What is your favorite bird?
hmmm never thought of it to be honest! Funny enough, my husband accidently disturbed a hibernating bat in one of the barns yesterday! So I'll say bats, along with the geese & ducks that frequent our farm. And there is something nice about the yearly warm up that brings back the hummingbirds, I always enjoy getting my feeders out for them.
Our son and daughter-in-law hosted a Mardi Gras party in their Houston neighborhood yesterday, and it seems no one ever responds in the negative. As parents, we just get pictures! :)
That looks like it was a fun party!
DH and I were able to get to his sister's house before she passed away.
How comforting that must have been for your SIL, and for your husband to have reached her in time. I'm sorry for your family's loss.
but let's just say, a lifetime of bad decisions has caught up with her again, and now her children are again paying the price
Have a few of those in our family, it's hard to step back but after a while you realize you can't help those that won't help themselves. We've got a potential 'clean up' - both physical, financial and emotional in our future, potentially sooner rather than later - because others didn't take care of their business when they could have/should have, it's frustrating.
Anyways, I went through the broken tubs of Christmas, and moved them into new boxes;
I really, really need to do this. Not really Christmas stuff, but all the other stuff. I've got boxes of odds & ends from my grandmothers house, china I haven't used much less looked at in over 20 years, old photos and books. I keep saying one of these days I need to get it all out, unpack it all, and reorganize and reduce the stuff.

I must admit, I don't mind the outfits, they've kinda become a lighthearted part of the skating commentary. HOWEVER, his hair is just awful. Awful. Is he going for a Geisha-esque look, because it's not working for him.

I'm sure I missed a lot of posts in the last several days, so I apologize for those I missed commenting on.

My trip out west went swimmingly, although it only occurred to me I was traveling over a holiday weekend Saturday and it showed at the airports!!!! I was in three different big airports, on three different airlines. Three full flights. No issues, no delayed flights, no people acting foolishly in airport or on plane. I must admit I continue to questing some of the outfits folks wear to the airport...enormously high heels, boots that are gladiator style and require 10 minutes to lace back up after going thru security, pajamas (not on sleeping little kids early in the AM either....) and my favorite, folks that stand at the conveyor belts or at the exit to put back on their shoes or belts or sweatshirts and stow their laptops creating a total backlog of folks that just want to grab their stuff and get out of the way!

Just the usual on tap this week, I've got meetings on Tuesday & Thursday at work. Youngest is bringing his girlfriend over for the weekend, he & his brother are going fishing. The girls are going shopping, which is nice. I like to see the boys' girlfriends doing things together. Plus my BIL, SIL & niece coming over Saturday afternoon/evening. Hoping the wind stays down and we can have a bonfire. Should be a busy, fun weekend. Not sure what I'll do for dinner Saturday - ordering pizza is a idea. Also thinking hot dog bar, except that there are at least 2 of us who don't eat hot dogs and my goal is to keep it simple simple simple. Probably just order pizza.

Meatloaf for dinner this evening, it's been so long I can't recall last time I made it. Acorn squash to go along with it as well. Tomorrow is a pork roast, not sure how I'm going to do that. I'm thinking slow & low in the crock pot.

We may be getting a new foster dog, will find out in the next few days.

Have a good morning everyone -

That's exactly what we both said!

I haven't made meatloaf in awhile either. Now that you said it,,it's on the menu sometime this week. I would do acorn squash, but you can't find any of that around here except at holiday time for some reason. I usually do our pork roasts in the crockpot too. Slit it in a few places, stuff some fresh garlic in. Salt and pepper it. Then add a can of drained sauerkraut..just for the taste and to keep it moister.

We may be getting a new foster dog, will find out in the next few days.

Good luck with this one!

@lynxstch I kind of like to see what Johnny Weir is wearing sometimes. If it is a bit garish or really over the top it can be annoying but sometimes it is interesting and fun. He does know skating. I did not watch the Olympics so I can't really say how he was for the games.

The real estate agent sent over the contract to sign and he is still waiting for the stager to get back to him. I just can't meet her at the house at 4 pm as then I would have to drive back route 3 and 495 during rush hour. No thanks. I will tell her to send over a couch and a couple of table covers and be done with it. I just got rid of alot of stuff out of my house. I don't want alot of stuff coming back in even temporarily.

My manager is asking about me coming back to work full time or at least 35 hours a week in the near future. I told her I am still in the middle of everything. She does understand which is nice but I wonder if the big boss will understand. I am able to get my work done but they do want to add some stuff. I think I can add a bit more if they take away the work I am doing for another group. I did tell her once I get settled I would like 35 hours a week to keep busy. We'll see how it goes.

I have heard cardinals are visitors from heaven. When I saw the cardinal I just said, Hi Chris. I figured he came by to see me at the house.

@Bianca and Bernard I can under that bad decisions can affect more than just the person making them and come back to haunt the person and family later in life. However, I do feel bad for your SIL with losing her husband. It is such a tough time in life, and that is an understatement. I hope she learns from the past and can make better decisions.

Have a nice evening.

Slipping thread save!

Grateful dad is already home from laundry and shopping. The weather sure has turned here to cooler. Stay warm everyone and enjoy some hot chocolate, too :)

Your weather is cooler,,and our is warmer..it's 69 degrees outside and so nice. I just took a long walk, picked up more branches, did 5 laps around the house and garden, with one of the outside cats walking along side me..he is so funny, he's like a little puppy who wants to play when I am outside. He even came in the garden when I was breaking up the branches and putting them in the burn pile.

Dinner is going to be soup, sandwich and Mr L made a small macaroni salad with the rest of the macaroni I cooked to make the tuna casserole. It was too much for the casserole to use it all, but too little to save in the box. So I cooked it all and put the rest in the fridge.

Have a nice evening everyone

Good afternoon all,

@Kirby - So sorry for your loss but glad you were able to make it in time to say good-bye.

We are in the final stretch. The dumpster came today and all the furniture is out of the house. We are keeping the entertainment center and dining room set but getting new chairs for that. I will spend the next few days in my room and my husband is downstairs in his wheelchair. It gives him something to sit in at least. The carpet is picked out and will be the last thing done. My neighbor quoted me a similar price at the big flooring store but with an upgrade in the grade of the carpet and the pad. I should have gone to him in the first place. I will be painting the woodwork tomorrow and then the floors will go down Wednesday to Thursday. The finishing woodwork on Friday and the furniture comes Saturday. The colors look amazing and really brightened up the area.

QOTD - I am actually afraid of birds, more like terrified, but I love taking pictures of them. My family laughs at me when we head to the shore because I am constantly ducking gulls but yet shooting away at the same time. I do love a couple of birds though. Cardinals have always been a favorite and I always feel like my Gram is saying hello when I see one, usually when I am down about something. I do like Blue Jays also. Oddly one of my favorites is Owls. I am taking my granddaughter on the last nature walk of the season for winter birds next month. January was 10 degrees out and I don't like taking pictures of birds that much. The February walk was this past Saturday and we were busy with the house. I am hoping to see an owl or two, maybe an Eagle.

Dinner tonight will be quick, leftover meatloaf and noodles from yesterday. I have a meeting that I do not want to attend on Zoom but can't get an excuse to get out of it. I will probably block my sound and picture and half listen. I am against something the church wants to do, but I'm the only one and no one wants to hear my issues with what they are doing including our priest. They see DOLLAR signs and I am against it on multiple levels.

Oh well off to look through pictures I am going to want to print out for the family wall. I plan on making one long wall pictures of mine and my husbands family on either side and then the middle of the display will be our combined family. It will be a work in progress.

Have a good evening.

@Bianca and Bernard--more :grouphug: 's being sent your way in dealing with the family issues.

Its still 65 outside..can we just keep this weather the rest of the year? LOL!

Its getting really hard to find Friskies wet cat food anywhere anymore. Chewy is out of everything. PetSmart is out of everything. Tractor Supply is out of everything. Martins (Giant) hasn't had any on their shelf for the last 2 months, neither has Walmart. I managed to find 3 cases of the flavors our cats will all eat on Walmart.com. Have to grab it when I see it!

Off to fix dinner and watch some tv..and hurray..it won't be Olympics..lol!

I'd prefer 75 or even 80, dear Lynn, but so glad it is warmer for you, my friend!

Huge :hug:Snowysmom.

Quiet afternoon here. I did put together some mail that I pray will bring cheer to those it's headed to. I'm also trying to find a small kitchen dish drainer that's not a ton of money. Amazing (not in a good way) how truly anything can become so hard to find not to mention costly because of the low inventory. As I have said many a time, and probably will again, when you come across an item you need, right then is the time to get it!

Love to all and have a good evening. Good rest of the afternoon, of course, to you, AuntieMe3.

The meatloaf turned out okay. Silly to say, but my meatloaf is usually kinda blah. But this was a bit better! Ended up saving the squash for tomorrow or Wednesday since I remembered I had a baking potato that was getting a bit long in the tooth.

Ok - so this evening our local news ran a story about shelters needing/running out of canned cat food. Honestly I have heard folks on this thread, and in my life, talk about how hard it has become to find it but I never put it all together. I'm a ninny brain sometimes.....anyway, I'm going to start picking up what I can for our two local shelters. I'm not cat person, but I don't want them hungry! Luckily my barn cats only eat dry - well dry & rodents/birds that get in their way!

Not much on TV tonight, so watching reruns of The Office. I have a two episodes of a Underground Railroad doc recorded but I want to be fully awake when I watch them. For some reason I'm tired as all get out tonight, I think I'll hit the hay soon.

Thanks for doing that, Easyas. Not a cat person either as you know. Indeed cats need warmth and food, too! Sleep well.

I'm tired of Scotch tape rolls that immediately break off at the green tab thus rendering themselves useless. We did try a knife to get it started which worked for an inch or so before breaking off :P This was the third roll in recent times this has happened to. I did contact 3M the last time and they were supposed to send me a free roll of tape that I haven't gotten yet. Oh well, minor thing just annoying!

Be cozy, friends and sleep well.

falling asleep too early and then wide awake way too early! And it's even too early to go have my morning coffee and eat something. I'm going to try to get myself back on schedule today, so I can wake up at a semi reasonable 5-5:30am.

Anyway, checked my phone for pictures and found this one of my favored cardinal that I had named Charlie.

649249

This was his stance whenever he visited, rarely did he raise his crest. At first I thought he didn't have one. He came for years and would drive other cardinals away and then return to eat and collect his seeds. He was a hard working bird, raising many families back in the brush at the end of my yard. I'm sure many of the ones I see today are his descendants.

Good morning all. Calling for rain this morning, great, since we just got rid of all the wet ground and mud from the other day :(

Thank you @easyas123 for being on the lookout for cat food for the shelters. When I say it's getting hard to find,,it really is! You have to grab what you can, when you can, and where you can!

Already fed the cats, filled the bird feeders and made my grocery list for tomorrow. I am sure Mr L will want to add an item, or 2 or 3 to it before it's finalized. Then I need to gather the trash, break down all of the boxes in the cellar for recycle (including about 2 dozen Chewy ones, lol) and then I have to find something else to do.

Have a nice morning all

Happy Tuesday (2/22/22)! :dogdance:

Today is my sister's birthday. :bday: At the hospital we have special onsies to put on the babies that are born today. What a fun day to be born on.

Temperature has been in the mid-60's for the past few days. Went out and took a walk yesterday during my lunch break. Supposed to rain all day today so I don't think I'll be able to squeeze in a walk today. Expecting up to 2" of rain :headache:, my poor yard hasn't dried out from all the rain over the weekend.

Nothing on TV last night so I watched reruns of NCIS, this is always my go-to show when there isn't anything else on.

Have a great day!

@Kirby I am so sorry for your loss. But it seemed rather peaceful, and for that I am glad.

Dinner with my brother went great. He got along with my husband really well. I can confirm my whole family is a bunch of tender hearts, though - when we said goodbye, I hugged him and said "let's make sure it isn't another 20 years before the next one." He asked, "has it really been that long?" and his eyes filled with tears. It's hard having a large age and geographical gap.

I'm currently looking ahead to my birthday, trying to figure out what to do. There is a "splatter paint" place near us, which I've done with my husband as a couple before and it was fun. I also considered just setting up in the backyard and do the water balloons filled with paint thing (a la Princess Diaries). I just have to decide if I'd rather someone else be responsible for the mess.

QOTD: Owls! They're like feathered cats. But I'm probably closer to a crow, myself... collecting rocks and shiny things.
