Going back to the 4th on posts here...
@lynxstch, many prayers to you and your DH. I sometimes think there may be too many hands in the pot in hospitals. My mother and I hated that, when my grandparents took their turns in the hospital. I remember when my grandmother was there in 2005, she had about 5 different specialists, and none of them communicated with each other or us. We were confused daily by what diagnoses and treatments/medications she was getting. I'm glad to hear your DH is improving and will keep praying for him!
@dazedx3, I'm so sorry about your dog. I wish our pets lived much longer lives. They bring you so much joy, but it goes by much too fast. I've had to let go of 3 dogs and a cat so far, and now our remaining cat is 14 years old. He was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism - which apparently is very common in cats; our other cat had it for 5 years before her kidneys failed - and I'm so scared that he's rounding the corner now. So many hugs to you
@AuntieMe3, just agreeing with others, that you don't need to send a thank you card for a card. For flowers, donations, gifts or food, yes, but not for a card. I will say, though, that when my FIL passed away in February, my MIL did send thank yous for cards from people with whom they were particularly close to. For example, her 92-year-old aunt, who just had a stroke and can't afford to send flowers or gifts - she sent a lovely card, so my MIL sent a thank you back to her. She just used the preprinted ones from the funeral home and wrote a quick message to express her additional appreciation, and enclosed a prayer card. But in general, there's no need to send a thank you for a card.
@tazdev3225, many prayers for the twins! I've grown to like the name "Finn" now - it will always remind me of the kid from Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard. I know yours is a girl and it's spelled a bit differently, but I do kind of like it
An old friend of mine just posted on FB last night that her 15-year-old daughter got her 2nd cancer diagnosis this week. She literally just passed the 5-year anniversary of her first diagnosis. They don't yet know if this is the same cancer or something else. She will be spending at least a month in-patient at the children's hospital here. I'm so sad that she will be dealing with this again
So we did make it to the fireworks on Saturday evening. We went to the Kohl's parking lot early, as they were posting that they would start anytime between 9 and 9:30, whenever they got a "dry moment." We parked backwards, turned off the interior lights, and sat in the rear of the car with the door up, keeping us dry from the drizzle. It was a lovely 25-minute show and I got some good photos.
Sunday morning we started off by going to the cemetery to "visit" my FIL. It was sad to see at least 5 new graves in the row behind his. We also went to the memorial section next to Dad's and found his uncle's stone. He was shot down in the Pacific right at the end of WWII, a week after his 21st birthday. I got a chill when I noticed several stones dated December 7, 1941, all from the US Navy. Then we spent the day with my MIL and SIL, at my MIL's house.
Monday we just hung out at home. Tuesday, DH went back to work, and my mom, Josh and I went to the library in the morning. Josh started his new gymnastics class in the afternoon - NO FEAR. He actually stood up on the parallel bars

It was also quite funny to watch him bounce on the springboard, go pretty high into the air, and then dive down into the foam block pit. He's not the most graceful gymnast, that's for sure (you'd have to see the strange positions he was in while "diving" into the pit)

A nasty storm came whipping through while we were there, but when class let out, there was a lull, so we ran for the car. As I was strapping him into his car seat, one foot still on the ground outside, a heavy gust of wind slammed the car door shut on my leg, right under my knee. Oh, the pain...! I couldn't feel my foot for the rest of the night. I had trouble going up and down the stairs yesterday, but things seem better today. Still getting a tingle through the lower half of my calf/shin and foot once in a while, but otherwise okay
Yesterday was our movie morning. Our friend and her 3 kids met us there. We saw the
Lego Movie 2. We won't be going this coming week; we already have a magic show at our library and our friend has to work, but we're planning on the week afterward when they're showing Dora and the Lost City of Gold (which we saw at our library back in 2019 and it was surprisingly good!). This morning we went to the library for Storytime, which I'd forgotten is much more than just getting a book reading. Miss Lisa reads 3 books, they get to dance, play a game, and do a craft as well. Then we went inside because Josh already got his first 50 points from his reading chart and won his first prize (a "brag tag" necklace). Stopped at Costco after that - they now have my favorite Hint water, and we found a new 3-in-1 winter jacket for Josh. Came home and Josh got another 20 points on his chart toward his second prize - at this rate, he'll get his 100-point and 150-point prizes next week! (I've got 60 points so far on my chart, but adults only get prizes at 100 points

)
I think we're looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow...
