Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I grew up going to Schaefers and The Granary (pre and post fire - did you ever go pre fire? ) in Georgetown! We used to hit them on the way home from the Georgetown/Galena area to South Jersey before my folks moved over here!
I think, personally, that Schaefers isn't what it used to be. The Chesapeake Inn's deck (and dining room) are good, but they are a bit of a hike for us now that we no longer live in Galena, - although they have a killer deck menu , it is so Big, and those pizzas and sushi!!! So our deck time is usually on Kent Island or St. Michaels these days, if not on a boat.
Or at home!
Of course, we spent a lot of time at the Kitty, too.
I'm not super impressed with Schaefer's anymore. It used to be fun to see the ships go by. I went to happy hour on the deck 2 summers ago, which was fun. DD likes Chesapeake Inn for her late May birthday out on the deck but we felt old. I have been to Granary pre-fire but not since. Also went to Kitty Knight House before it closed. We like to bike the cross Kent bike trail and have been to the Kentmoor Restaurant once, again for DD's birthday. (She lives in Middletown and DS is south of Annapolis so a midway point for them). I haven't been to St. Michaels since I was a teen and babysat a family who had a boat and used to go there.

Sorry to derail the thread but now you all know about the eastern shore of MD.

I'm so glad ya'll are still interested in this thread. I know it's been a month of my ramblings and spilling about our boring life here. If nothing else I hope it makes you all feel better about your lives or emotions knowing others have it too. I'm glad ya'll want to share what you are eating or how life is going or anything else. I'm just glad I'm not feeling so alone and in a safe area with this ongoing conversation.
I think this thread is a lot of fun. Takes my mind off what's going on and I've learned a few things on here, like pew pew :)

My favorite meal right now is Trader Joes cauliflower gnocchi with sage butter sauce. I fry the gnocchi in butter so it's a little crispy. My family thinks cauliflower gnocchi is disgusting and go for the real thing. I actually prefer the cauliflower version. Maybe it's all the butter I cook it in LOL.

As far as eating out, I'm really missing sushi and teppanyaki. Especially with some nice sake. That might be the first restaurant I head to when dining out is acceptable again.

Spaghetti or lasagne or pizza . . . Anything with that flavor is good.

I do miss my mom’s pot roast though. She didn’t use a written recipe and I never had the chance to learn how she made it. Sometimes if I am really craving pot roast I get the Hormel pot roast with Italian seasoning, and roast some small potatoes, carrots and onions in the oven. It’s good, but it’s not the same.

We're in warm season now....headed into hot season soon

I can't wait until its warm here and I usually hate the heat. We had a couple warmer days a couple weeks ago. Followed by rain for almost all last week...and cold wind all weekend....its so annoying. Today looked warm until you went outside and it was chilly, I'm tired of being cold...I NEED WARMTH!!!!

Another day without Wheel o' Movies. I had two back-to-back church meetings this evening.

Favorite meal? Boy, I dunno, there's so many. Chicken parm is on the menu this week. I love me a good chicken parm. Steak with baked sweet potato and sprouts or broccoli or asparagus. Homemade mac & cheese (with hot sauce, natch). Turkey burgers. Enchiladas with Spanish rice. A nice fish filet with couscous and sauteed greens.

MmMmMmMmmm

There's a place in town I love to go for my birthday. We split an appetizer of dates in a blanket (dates stuffed with goat cheese and roasted garlic, wrapped in bacon, drizzled with smoked honey and tomato sofrito, then broiled). My entree is short rib nachos: braised short ribs, guacamole, pico, cheese sauce, jalapenos, sour cream and black beans served on a bed of house made potato chips. Dessert is a chocolate torte with house made vanilla ice cream. I only eat it once/year, but man it is some kind of good.

That whole meal sounds amazing but those dates sound sooo good. I love bacon wrapped dates but have not found them at a lot of places.

I like to make risotto! Everyone thinks it is so complicated, when it's actually very easy, just takes time.

DH makes an amazing black bean chili, that he serves with fried polenta.

When we go out, we love to go to The Melting Pot. It's been our date night restaurant for...jeez...16 years, as long as we've had DS! SoIL#2 proposed to DD#2 at TMP where he was living at the time, outside by their firepit (lit on a cool evening, right at sunset. /sigh)

Dinner tonight: BLT (with Nueske's bacon, baby bibb lettuce, tomato, Duke's mayo on Sourdough), and Zuppa Toscana soup (trying a new mix).
I didn't know you could buy Nueske's bacon outside Wisconsin!

A couple of restaurants here carry it on their menus.
I buy mine at Fresh Market. Yes, I pay $9.99/lb for bacon, and the 3 of us go through 2 lbs a meal. It is the best bacon ever. (Though I usually get it when it's BOGO)

A favorite meal is something I do rarely in the house: deep fried food. The lingering smell and cleanup takes too much time from my life. On the bright side my waistline thanks me, LOL.

Yesterday, was a wall washing day and the house smells almost ready for spring! Listened to a lot of classical music since it fits the mood I want to acquire and maintain. Need some get up off of your feet sound? Wagner, Handel, and Vivaldi could fit on this end. Contemplative? Copeland and Chavez rule.

Did some searching online for storage solutions; great stuff at the Container Store, IKEA, and Gracious Home. Now to make final decisions.

Last night we had a main dish salad of mesclun, roasted red peppers, sliced pears, leftover green herbs, and poached salmon. Time to start shopping for fresh produce again.

Exactly! There are certain things that I tell myself I do not know how to make, most of them deep fried. Because if I know I can, I will... and that's just a road I don't want to go down. When I feel like going out for a treat or a reward, it feels so much more luxurious to have someone else make fried food well (and clean it up)!

Being Italian and growing up with a mother who was a great cook, my favorite things are what she use to make and now I make.
She use to bring her delicious meals to us, now I bring them to her. She doesn't cook much since my dad passed away last year. :sad1:

Last night I made a meatloaf to go with the Easter side dish leftovers.
Tonight, I'm trying a new recipe of honey garlic chicken.

I'm looking forward to warmer weather here as well! It's such a let down to go to Florida in February, wearing t-shirts and flip-flops, and having to come home to CT and endure another month or two of cold. My mother, son, and I went out to a local nursery this morning to look at shrubs and flowers, and it's so windy! If it weren't for the wind, it might actually be pleasant, but the wind makes it downright cold.

Yesterday it was announced that our annual Mt. Carmel Italian festival, which takes place the first weekend in August, was also canceled. That's as huge a deal as our Fourth of July celebration. This year would be the 95th year. And our 10th annual town-wide tag sale, in mid-May, was canceled as well. Waiting to hear if my son's spring soccer has been canceled (the association is supposed to meet for the first time today, after being postponed for 6 weeks).

I've been taking so many photos that I've decided to make a "Quarantine of 2020" photobook on Shutterfly. I'm also using my son's artwork and some posts and funny memes I've seen on Facebook. I have a coupon for a free book anyway, so at least it won't go to waste!

Favorite Meals: Well, I like food, so I have lots of favorite meals ;) Shrimp parmesan is my ultimate favorite; I usually get it at a restaurant called Lulu's here, but if anyplace else has it, I will get it. I will always go for anything shrimp, period.

I love Chinese food. If I don't get my shrimp parmesan for my birthday, I get Chinese. I really want Chinese lately, but there are only 2 places still open in surrounding towns. All 4 of the Chinese restaurants in our town have closed, not even open for take-out.

One of my favorite at-home meals is shrimp and cod with Italian tomatoes, served over linguine.

We have a small Italian restaurant in the next town which we love. Their sauce is fantastic. I love their chicken parm. DH loves their Italian sausage and meatballs. Their pizza is also great. They are doing takeout so we go there every other week. I have a couple of home cooked meals that I like: Chicken enchilada soup and beef stew both cooked in the crock pot. They are cooler weather meals. So good and we get 2 meals from each one.
