My favorite meal is a Caprese salad. I love tomatoes and Basil. Add a little mozzarella and maybe a rojo Michelada or a little red wine and you are looking at a perfect summer meal. I hope the farmstands are open this year. They normally would be here in the next week or two.

I like a good Mexican meal if I am going out, preferably black bean soft tacos, with fresh taco shells and guacamole made to order.

Well, now I'm starving for things I cant have now. Thanks. ;)

Question of the day 4/14: What's a favorite meal?

What's a favorite meal you enjoy? It can be at home or out and about. Every year for the month of October I hear all about how excited my husband is for chili and cornbread. He loves chili and cornbread but I think it's also about the routine with Halloween and tradition.

A favorite meal I make at home is buffalo chicken sandwiches shredded or buffalo chicken dip or buffalo chicken pasta. I also make great egg rolls baked in the oven with variety of filling. It makes for fun dinner or appetizers. As simple as this is one my favorite take out meals is Chick fila. There is a place in TX that makes the best steak I have ever had and it was a treat to go because so expensive but worth it! I'm not big beef/meat eater and I always have the steak with wine mushrooms when there.

So what's your favorite meal?

I like to make risotto! Everyone thinks it is so complicated, when it's actually very easy, just takes time.

DH makes an amazing black bean chili, that he serves with fried polenta.

When we go out, we love to go to The Melting Pot. It's been our date night restaurant for...jeez...16 years, as long as we've had DS! SoIL#2 proposed to DD#2 at TMP where he was living at the time, outside by their firepit (lit on a cool evening, right at sunset. /sigh)

Dinner tonight: BLT (with Nueske's bacon, baby bibb lettuce, tomato, Duke's mayo on Sourdough), and Zuppa Toscana soup (trying a new mix).

My husband loves a leftover meatloaf sandwich!

Dang I'm not sure what my favorite meal is....
Fondue, fondue is good-
I love Thanksgiving dinner
Tomato bisque with grilled cheese - yum!
Anything cheesy and with potatoes
Crab dip
shrimp alfredo
ANYTHING served outside on a dive bar deck in the out islands of the Bahamas or BVI's, or here in MD with the hot, humid air floating around me! Come on summer!!!

Ask me again tomorrow, might have a different answer?!?! ha ha

Tonight we are having pork chops simmered in tomato sauce with peppers, topped with leftover fresh salsa and served over cilantro lime rice.

I was so excited that Hilton released the official Doubletree cookie recipe this week. I LOVE those cookies. If you aren’t aware, you are allowed to go to the front desk and ask for one whenever you like, you aren’t just limited to check in. Sometimes I have gone to the desk every day to get a cookie . . .

Unfortunately I don’t have the ingredients on hand to make them and the baking aisle at the store is empty, but one day I will make them!

I didn’t use all the ingredients they said - lemon juice or walnuts, but cooking at 300 degrees for 17 min. Yum and crispy . I usually do my choc chip for 7-9 mins at 375

Favorite meals vary a LOT. Fave junk meal is White Castle sliders with onion chips and a red cream soda... which is how I've gotten into this shape I'm in. 😆
Fave healthy meal is schwarma on rice with Greek salad. I miss our Greek place so very much right now. Then again a nice curry with basmatti rice and garlic naan. Then again again I'm Irish and a nice fried potato with fresh cheese... Can I just eat all the things? All of them, every one.

Tonight we're having ham steak with sweet potatoes and green beans because I wanted something easy to cook.

Tina
Yes, thanks for starting this thread, I’m a very social person and miss my coworkers (school) and girlfriends for a cup of coffee. I live in Ohio where it was 43 but felt like 38. We managed to walk 2 miles before coming inside.
favorite meal : scallops and risotto, use to be steak with crab on top
What I make: homemade au gratin potatoes and crispy breaded chicken

Grateful - for my husband and boys . Love cuddling to watch a Disney movie Even if they sometimes drive me crazy.
My sister , who lives alone over seas. Says how difficult it is not to have a hug or handshake in over 37 days !!

Hug Tina, you have and continue to make a huge difference through this thread, thank you!

Sugar pie sound wonderful to me :)

This morning seemed sunny here but it was chilly. I got outside for a few minutes to water my Christmas Tree. In 2014, I finally realized there are such things as small Christmas Trees (small apartments are not that conducive to a full Tree). I got a 6 inch Tree in a red planter at Pavilions. In January, 2015, the gardeners to this building kindly planted it. God has been growing it green every since. It's probably now over 5 feet. I feel so Blessed to help care for it, too. I am grateful today extra for Evergreen 🎄

Also grateful for some sweet emails and texts.

Very thankful that my Dad was able to do his once weekly grocery shopping this morning.

I am not an exciting eater at all. I was so disappointed when Kraft discontinued their original mac and cheese that myself and so many of us grew up with. I did find at Pavilion's their store brand of Signature Select spirals which I enjoy. The one other mac and cheese I enjoy is at Golden Corral. I am so particular that DL's Stouffer's is too fancy (too strong) for me.

I realized that I was thinking about other meals that I like. I LOVE sushi and really miss that. I also miss hibachi with scallops and extra veggies.

To those who mentioned Melting Pot, I got email that they are doing to go meals. I can't imagine how to keep the liquids warm and all the fun but maybe they send you with the disposable sticks and such. I had a really nice dinner there one time for a birthday. It took forever to get through dinner and my husband was antsy by the end. I'd rather just go with my girlfriends I think for appetizers and dessert. LOVE the fruit and chocolate!

So here's confession: I've never made meatloaf. I don't even like meatloaf. Maybe I should try it while I'm home. Does anyone have good recipe to share?

I can't wait for the warm weather either. We just added a screened porch to our house last September and I want to eat out there every night. Where do you like to eat in MD? Chesapeake Inn or Schaefer's Canal House? Or somewhere else?

My mother always cooked meatloaf. It was so good. We make it sometimes, too. Basically you take 1.5lbs ground beef or ground turkey and mix in 2 eggs, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic and chopped onions, mix it all up, put it in a loaf pan and bake. :lovestruc It doesn’t have to be exact. Some people put ketchup or bbq sauce in a track down the middle, or put gravy on it, but we’re purists and just like it plain with some ketchup once plated. The onions make it if you like onions.

Use to be a Christmas EVe meal, but ocean warming has moved the meal to MLK day...fresh Dungness crab, piled high in the sink and cleaned of debri that was left from the butcher when wrapped at the store. rinsed and drain, then piled bodies on a old sheet that is covered with newsprint rolls from the newspaper office, terrycloth towels for everyone to use a bib, pliers santized from the garage to crack the legs and cavity, plastic buckets to hold the shells..... optional....bed of rice or shredded iceberg lettuce with mayo to glaze the lettuce on a large plate.......NO DIPPING BUTTER...Dungness crab needs no help nor needs to hide strange taste....Unfortunate it is the saddest delicacy in the US....men die harvesting the winter meal

So what's your favorite meal?
Thanksgiving dinner!

buffalo chicken pasta
Ooh, that sounds intriguing! I would love the recipe If you can share it.

As for meatloaf, by this point, I pretty much just throw it together from whatever I have on hand, and it usually turns out pretty good, but I used to make this one sometimes, and it’s really yummy:

I grew up going to Schaefers and The Granary (pre and post fire - did you ever go pre fire? ) in Georgetown! We used to hit them on the way home from the Georgetown/Galena area to South Jersey before my folks moved over here!
I think, personally, that Schaefers isn't what it used to be. The Chesapeake Inn's deck (and dining room) are good, but they are a bit of a hike for us now that we no longer live in Galena, - although they have a killer deck menu , it is so Big, and those pizzas and sushi!!! So our deck time is usually on Kent Island or St. Michaels these days, if not on a boat.
Or at home!
Of course, we spent a lot of time at the Kitty, too.

Question of the day 4/14: What's a favorite meal?

What's a favorite meal you enjoy?
My most favorite food is tacos....I LOVE tacos. So a meal involving them is my favorite with Spanish rice and refried beans(my dad makes the best homemade beans). 😋 In order of taco preference....fried ground beef tacos, fried chicken tacos, potato tacos, fish tacos, street style tacos...carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and chicken. My hubby and daughter are not as big of fans of tacos as me so I don't get a whole meal unless my parents make it for me, always on my birthday so that's nice.

Favorite meals vary a LOT. Fave junk meal is White Castle sliders......
Mmm....I LOVE white castle. We don't have any near us and its so sad but probably a good thing. The closest is in the middle of the desert on the way to Vegas at a gas station. Then is Vegas there are two locations, one across the street from our favorite hotel so that's usually where we eat lunch and a late night snack...:thumbsup2 MmmMmmMmm

A couple of you mentioned The Melting Pot and I've never been....I've always wanted to go but we don't have any near us.

The meatloaf I made tonight (I have a lot of different ones) is ground beef, Italian sausage, egg, bread crumbs, A-1 sauce (I think this was originally and A-1 recipe), chopped onion, chopped red bell peppers, garlic, tomato sauce and then topped with cheese

We're in warm season now....headed into hot season soon
