We are under a severe thunderstorm warning till 10 pm, and it looks like it's about to hit anytime. Very dark outside and I think it might be raining. I will find out when I go out to give the outside cats their dinner. Dinner here is going to be the leftover ribs from the other night, with a baked potato and zucchini.
Checking in while I can,,if it storms badly, you will find me hiding under a blanket on the couch..I am not a big fan of thunderstorms.
Have a nice rest of the afternoon,,will be back to check in later if the storms subside.

Send them my way! I love them! We must be under the exact same watch, just announced it on the radio- with severe storms between 5 & 9, but a watch until 10. There are 3 hours and a massive bay in-between us, not sure how they can bundle us all together at the same time like that. Oh well I guess that is for someone much more knowledgeable about weather to figure out.

My husbands grandmother- born, raised, married, raised a family, died AND buried not more than about 15 miles from you - she was deathly afraid of storms, to the point where she would go and stand or sit in a dark closet until they passed! I remember being up there, probably before we were even married, and it started raining during diner and she just disappeared, but no one batted a eye, they were used to her disappearing at the hint of a storm! She was a fun old bird, with a great sense of humor.

We had one that lasted about 15 min. 1 crack of thunder, 1 of lightening,,downpour, and wind..now the sun is back out. Temp had been 90, dropped down to 68 and is back up to 76. I am sending the rest of them your way for sure!

Whereabouts is your husband's grandmother from, that she died and was buried that close to here? LOL sounds like she was a lot of fun,,and I laughed that noone batted an eye and knew where she had gone to if there was a storm..I am not that bad, lol!

My grandmother had a dog who was deathly afraid of storms..a big german shepherd. She would howl, crawl under a bed and not come out till it was over. I don't mind thunderstorms if they aren't right on top of us..but the ones that sound like they are going to hit the house, scare the heck out of me.

Well its crunch time for me...I feel like I have so much to do even though I've done so much already. The thing is DH has his own list of stuff to do and he was supposed to get some done this past weekend. Of course they had a work emergency so he couldn't come home for the weekend like he was supposed to. :faint: He took some days off this week but with the emergency at work, instead of off Tuesday thru the rest of the week. He might not be able to come home until Wed evening....so only off Thursday and Friday. Of course some of the stuff on his list only he can do, so I'm trying to do as much of the other stuff myself. I have delegated some shopping to friends who offered and will have help Friday and Saturday morning.

I'm also starting to get more emotional the closer it gets....aside from my dad, sister and my mom's best friend, we haven't really seen anyone in person since she passed so I know their emotion is going to affect me, if you know what I mean....geesh..

It's going hot this weekend...we ended up renting a waterslide for my niece, nephews and my cousins kids that will be here...make it a little more fun for them.

Ugh....I had more typed out but then the page refreshed and I lost it so I guess that's it for now...gotta get back to work. Hopefully I can check back in the next couple days

LaVale? lonaconing? That town on the MD side of Keyser? Somewhere in there.

Lavale is closest to me..that's where Walmart Supercenter, Cracker Barrel and most restaurants are. Lonaconing is a little farther out..I might have been through there once or twice, but know nothing about it. Hubby says maybe you are thinking of Westernport, or Mccoole..but that is farther away from us than 15 miles I think! But I have the general idea now.

McCoole- That’s it I think! In any event, that general area, between Cumberland & Keyser. Husbands entire family on both sides from up there….I was in culture shock shall we say, at first!

Well I’m hearing a touch of thunder here and there it’s certainly cloudy but I have a sneaking suspicion that once again the rain will go around us. Time will tell. Either way I’m going to sit and enjoy some fresh air outside. Husband is taking photos of one of the boats to put up for sale, I should probably see about making something for dinner!

Good evening everyone.

Hope you all had a good Father's Day. We did spend it with my son and I managed to get a not so great picture of the 4 generations. Of course after I took the pictures I realized my lens was on manual focus so some of the better pictures turned out a little off. I will have to try again on the 4th of July before my son has had a beer or 2. This is one of the better pictures. 4 Generations of Jims

Of course we had to get one with my other grandson and my dog.

I think I may make it a yearly tradition.

LJ has yet to meet my dad and I had really hoped it would happen yesterday but no one answered the phone at my parents house so I didn't even get to wish my dad a Happy Father's Day til today. He just chuckled when I called. Dad should finally meet his 1st great great grandchild next Sunday. My grandson and his wife are going to start attending church with us so LJ can be baptized in the Fall.

I'm waiting on the storms that are due to move up and hit us later this evening. We are expecting the same storms here that Maryland is supposed to be getting. I do love a good thunderstorm. I have been known to stand out in them to try and get pictures of lightning. I have succeeded a few times. My dog just barks at them. I had 2 dog years ago that were actually bred for hunting, they were a mother and son. The mother was absolutely terrified of the noise and would crawl under my pillow when I was in bed and just shake and cry. The son liked to go out in the yard and stare at the sky. He was a strange dog.

Oh well I am off to watch Outlander again while my husband watches the History channel. Hope everyone has a good night.

@Pea-n-Me, lovely pictures!

ok, just found it on you tube. ... 1980s Camp Nippersink commercial
I vaguely remembered it so went and looked it up. I love that commercial!

I continue my almost daily battle with the barn swallows & their nests around here, I swear there must be 20 nests under the back of our porch. They dive bombed me yesterday when I went into the barn, too!
Before we enclosed our back patio three years ago we always had two nests of barn swallows going. They always nested twice and one year we got three groups of baby birds. We enjoyed watching them especially when there were five to a nest. So interesting to watch them from the window.

I'm not a fan of severe weather either. Thunder doesn't bother me, it's the wind that might come along with it. We don't live in a neighborhood where the houses are close together so there is no buffer when the wind comes roaring through. Plus, in severe weather there is always the threat of a tornado, that's what really bothers me about the wind.

Spent the morning doing office work. Went to my yearly check up with my gastroenterologist. A cool front passed through about 2:30 pm and knocked our temperature down into the 80's. We have a nice breeze and it is lovely outside. We're expecting another day or two of this nice weather and then it will be back up into the 90's for us.

Dinner tonight was meatballs and rice with air fried yellow squash and zucchini.

If you are getting the same line of t-storms that Missouri got on Saturday/Sunday, beware! They were nasty! You know how I mentioned that we were without water? I saw a post on FB today from our local fire and rescue that there were TWO large water main breaks (one 12", one 16") plus loss of power to a pumping stations AND the water treatment center. We had our water back in 3.5 hours. Considering, that is gosh darn impressive! I'm not sure if the water main breaks were caused by the storm, but it looks like lightening strikes can cause water mains to break, so.... I guess that's it? Other wise, that's just really terrible timing.

Finally getting a chance to drop in for a few minutes. Ended up sleeping a good portion of the day as DH got home around 4:30 this morning and while I had drifted off a little after 3 I did wake up and didn't get back to sleep till after 5:30 this morning to be woken up by his cat putting a claw in the top of my foot to let me know she wanted to go outside. Never wakes him but wakes me.

Good rainy Tuesday QUACK'ers! @tazdev3225--great pictures, thanks for sharing!

Its 66 out now, going to a high of 68. We didn't get anymore storms last nite, but did get more rain. It's raining very lightly now. Calling for 100% chance this morning, 3% this afternoon, but I am doubting that it will dry out enough today to mow. It will have to wait till tomorrow after I go grocery shopping and do errands, or wait till Thursday.
The rain is doing the veggie garden a lot of good..more and more tomato plants have flowers, and the cukes and squash plants will be setting blossoms soon.

No big cleaning plans for the day, except I do want to clean and put WD40 on all of the ceiling fans and standing fans. We have ceiling fans in every room except the bathroom, and I keep a standing fan in here (computer room) because it's a small room and the AC blows way too cold into this room,,fan helps move it out into the dining room.

Have a nice day!

Good morning Quackers! I don't normally post this early in the day but it's glorious outside. The sun is shining, temps in the mid 60's with a high today in the mid 80's and a light breeze. Wonderful weather! DD, GK's and I are going to look at dinosaurs later this morning. Too bad it's an indoor event. Catch you later!
