@Breezy_Carol, thank you for the book recomendation! I finished The Beantown Girls a couple of days ago. It is about the Red Cross Clubmobiles that traveled with the soldiers back in WWII, based on true stories. I enjoyed reading it! Going to bring it to my book club in a couple of weeks.

DD bought donuts and pigs in a blanket for breakfast. I tried out a new recipe, Baked Denver Omelet. It was pretty good, I'm going to try it with hashbrowns in a large cupcake tin next time.

DD, GK's and I went to a Sip and Greet to meet the newest member of our family, Amelia Glynn, my great niece born last week. Her mom is a NICU nurse and had her and went home with her all in the same day. Amelia is their 4th daughter. Not sure is they are going to try one more time for a boy but I can see them doing it.

I feel like taking a nap but if I do I know that I will regret it so will try to stay awake. DH is in the back snoring and DD is on the couch trying to pay attention to the kids and not doing so well. They slept in the car on the way home (hour drive) and are ready to play.

Just got home from the brewery. Such a nice place. We were there when it opened at noon so had our choice of tables. Got one under cover near the playground. The place was very big and well laid out so the kids couldn't bother anyone. DD brought spinach dip, cowboy caviar, and chips. DDIL brought mini quiches. I brought cheese, peperoni, and crackers, and cupcakes. There were food trucks there but we didn't need to get anything. The snacks were all good. We all got beer and hard cider, and bottles of water. It was a lovely visit. DS and DDIL left at about 2:30 to go to the Orioles game. The rest of of left about 3 when the weather started to look threatening and the kids were ready for naps.

Not sure what dinner will be, maybe carry out pizza.

Good afternoon or rather early evening to most of you other than my fellow CA-ian AuntieMe3 :)

I sure hope you did rest, Lynn.

Thank you, Snowysmom. So glad you have had a nice day, my friend. I truly look forward to getting my own haircut. Dad said he feels so much better after having gotten his cut. my hair is more problematic but for sure a cut will help.

Welcome to the world. Amelia Glynn! God Bless her and all of you, Kirby, her family.

Quiet afternoon here. I've been rereading a couple Love Inspired Books by Renee Ryan. I had loved her newest book The Sheriff's Promise and looked up some other series. Seems like she mostly writes historicals which I'm not into but I did find through paperback swap her 2 book regular Love Inspired line about a fictitious Colorado town called Village Green. What's funny is the first time I tried to read the first book, I could not get into it at all. It did nothing to grab me too much despite some nice characters and a dog. This time I enjoyed it and am going to start the second book.

So glad you had a nice afternoon, Carol :)

Happy reading to all! 📚

Handsome family Carol!

Long day for us older adults- of course the young adults are headed back out… they don’t get that from me!!! If I see 930 it will be a miracle.

We had crabs for dinner, pizza tomorrow evening. We are still wrenching on washer- I’m not in mood to shop for new one, luckily IF it can be fixed , my husband can figure it out. Fingers crossed he can.

Good evening all-

I have been happy happy happy today since shortly before 1:30 am my time I hear a meow through the open window by my chair. When we opened the door there was our missing Cat. She did not seem overly starved so my feelings are someone keeps trying to kidnap her and she keeps getting away and coming home to her family. Been catching up on sleep today from the nights of not sleeping because I was just about in tears over our kitty. Of course now that we have been giving lots of attention to his one sister our male cat has wanted to lay on me and get attention. So unlike his brother that we lost about 11 months ago to a genetic urinary tract blockage. Our other female cat has never been a I want a whole lot of human attention but she will allow short sit next to her on the bed and pet her sessions and sometimes she wants a petting when she comes in from being outside and will demand her head scratching.
Dinner tonight is tacos and tomorrow we are having cream cheese chicken done in the crockpot. I will have to start it sometime between 3 and 5 am in order for it to be done in time to eat before DH and 16 year old go to work. I had picked up the stuff for english muffin microwave pizzas to have last night and then we never did make them so 13 year old and I can make some of those to have in the evening if we don't want more cream cheese chicken.
Leftovers unless they are personal ones from a resturant I rarely get because most of the time DH and 16 year old fight over the last of things so we rarely have left overs. I have had to start having the pork chops wrapped 6 instead of 4 to a package instead of 4 so that it goes 13 year old eats about half a chop if that because she doesn't care too much for them, DH and 16 year old each get 2 and I get mine plus what 13 year old doesn't eat of hers. It is less stressful than worrying that those 2 are going to draw blood stapping the other one over grabbing the last half a chop.
I like some foods as leftovers when I can get them but others are a nope I let DH have them. I like leftover pizza and chicken though usually I heat those up at least in the microwave. I will do planovers such as cooking a large ham in the crockpot because why use the oven when I can make a nice on in my 6 quart and either not heat up the house or have the oven for other things. We will have a traditional ham dinner and use the left overs for adding into scrambled eggs, sandwiches, and ham and scalloped potatoes. I love leftover smoked turkey that my brother does in the smoker that is the best ever. Ok any of the leftover smoked meats or fish that my dad and brother spend hours smoking is good.
The girls current 4-H club does themed meals about every other month rotating between tacos, baked pototo bar, and barbecue which I disagree with. Grilling hamburgers and hot dogs is not a barbecue it is burgers and hot dogs cooked on a grill. Proper barbecue is good meats that are smoked or done over a slow time with plenty of basting done during the cooking process or a properly seasoned ribeye or t bone done to perfection so that it is nice and tender and juicy. Sirloin is good as wel though those are best with some grilled or sauted mushrooms over the top of them.

Well, I made it through the afternoon with no nap. It's all a blur, I was so tired. And here I am, 11:38 pm and wide awake. I am going to go ahead and go to bed and hopefully go to sleep.

Dinner tonight was chili dogs. I put together a new to me pasta salad for tomorrow. It didn't turn out like I thought it would so I hope that it goes over well. Like my gardening, cooking is always an experiment.

Good morning all! Happy Father's Day to all of your husband's, fathers, brothers, uncles etc.

It's 66 out now, but going to 90 the next 2 days,,then a high of 68 on Tuesday. This sure is nutty weather for this time of year.

Stepdaughter messaged me last nite that they will be out after 6 tonite, when the oldest gets out of work. They can't stay long, as she and the 2 girls are leaving tomorrow morning at 6 am to fly to SC to visit her mother for the week, but after not seeing all 4 kids together for 1 1/2 years, any time will mean a lot to hubby and me! I am not telling him about the visit, as she has a tendency to plan these things and then something falls through, and he would be very disappointed if I say they are coming and then they don't :(

I have no plans for the day. I slept fairly well, but am still tired. I just don't have much energy when it's hot outside, even though I am inside 75% of the time.

Hubby requested burgers for dinner..so it will be burgers, corn on the cob and a salad.

Have a nice day everyone!

Happy Father’s Day to all our of beloved men! Especially @flyingdumbo123’s Dad! :goodvibes Today may be a little tough for DH as it’s his first after losing his father, they were so close. So I will make sure he has a good day! (Though he is very happy just being here!) DD and I both brought part of his gifts here with us so he’ll get to open a few things we know he’ll like. And I am thinking about my own Dad, who’s been gone for many years.

Not sure if I mentioned that this is our first trip ever without DS. He is going on a road trip with his gf so his time off was limited. But he calls to see what we’re up to, and we’ve been sending him lots of pics by request. DD brought her boyfriend and she’s been having fun showing him Disney. We ran into them at World Showcase. They had been there all day while we went back for a mid-day nap when the sun got too hot. They’d had a great time, and saw and did everything, lol. Nice to be young! Last night they met friends who moved down here and they went out on the town and had a great time. We ran into them at midnight coming back and the friend stayed and waited to see us and give us a hug. I was touched. We watched him grow up with our kids so he was like one of our own.

@Sweetpeamama I am so relieved you got your cat back! Was worried when I read that he was MIA. I keep seeing the Disney Cats items around the World, and I love those, along with the Disney Dogs items. I bought a Disney Dogs water bottle for myself and for the dog sitter, and we bought two Disney Dogs prints to frame for Christmas for DS and DD for their eventual homes that we know they’ll love. I had some gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, along with my Disney Rewards. so I bought myself some things, too. (Sleep pants and top from Italy; a necklace, earrings and bracelet set made from cantaloupe seeds 😮 , and a hand carved elephant and baby (which I hope makes it home without breaking). Love WS.

Speaking of dogs, I got a funny text from the dog sitter saying, mysteriously, dog food showed up in Toto’s bowl between her morning and afternoon visits. She said she knew he was smart, but didn’t know he was that smart! :lmao: Turns out DS’s girlfriend had stopped by and saw his dish was empty, so she gave him some food. Sweet girl. (He doesn’t eat until supper time, his choice.)

@Snowysmom, what a pain that was with the water! Stay safe!

QOTD Yes we are leftover people. Oftentimes we make extra to have later, or freeze. We cook many nights so a night off from shopping and cooking, we welcome. And with some things like Italian, or soups, the flavors improve! Lol. DH and his asst manager actually have a thing where they share their food. They take turns bringing in leftovers. His wife is a good cook so DH enjoys different things than we make. And he likes our stuff. We’re not fussy people when it comes to food.

Speaking of food, I never thought I’d say this, but finding food around WDW has been a bit challenging. Good thing we did a grocery order our first day and bought a variety of things to eat! :faint: It seems almost fully booked here, so the dining reservations are very tight. And even some of the walk in places are by order only. I knew it before coming down here, but didn’t realize the extent of it. We are not going hungry, that’s for sure, but eating isn’t as spontaneous as usual. It was funny at WS, we had eaten a big lunch at the one place we were able to get a walk up reservation (Garden Grill), so we were literally not hungry for the rest of the day. But when we were leaving WS around 10pm, as it was closing, all of a sudden we got hungry. And, as DH says, it was like a bad cartoon where every stand was shutting their canopy just as we walked up! So we missed out on the F&G food items, but it was ok. I did feel bad, the one thing DH wanted to try was the gelato in Italy, and even though there were still people in line, they wouldn’t let him in line. 😬 So after a midnight trip to CVS (for some first aid foot supplies for DD), we packed up a little smorgasboard from our room and enjoyed a romantic little meal for ourselves down by the pool, then went for a swim. Didn’t get back to the room till almost 2am! Lol. I’m used to weird, late hours like that, but DH is a day guy. He loved it, though, but was tired next day. Will post a few pics in a separate post after I get the coffee going.

Good Morning everyone

Happy Fathers Day. I am so blessed to still have my dad in my life and will be calling him later. We never go overboard on gifts or anything but I was going to get him a card. I found NOTHING to express my feelings so I am thinking of writing him a letter to let him know what his presence in my life has meant to me. We are heading to my sons later to spend time with him and my grandsons. I am excited for this as we are taking a 4 generation of Jims picture. I am making a version of Mexican Street Corn to take over. I tried it a couple weeks ago and it was really good. I do have to leave out the avocado as my son is not a fan.

@Pea-n-Me I am so jealous. I am really missing seeing the F&G this year. It's definitely one of my favorite times to go to Disney.

QOTD We love leftovers and that's probably a good thing because even though it has been just the 2 of us for over 10 years I don't know how to cook for 2 people.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Good Morning Quacker family 🐣

Sending out a hug to all of you along with a special prayer that each of you enjoy some family time or memory this Father's Day. It truly is for me an extra joy and Blessing from God, my Heavenly Father, to get to spend this beautiful Sunday (always with Him) but also my Dad. Let those who you care for know so always and remember how special YOU are to them and....all of us in this thread, too :)

Also: An extra Sunday wish for each of you, friends.

Hug Pea, hooray and praise God you are having Disney fun that brings me a smile to read, my friend.

Taz Dev, big hug, and what a beautifully touching idea to write your Dad a thank you letter.

Have a great day all!

@footballmouse, Congratulations on your degree! That's quite an accomplishment, no matter what age! :cheer2:

A quick post while DH is in the shower - he spent his Father's Day morning mowing the lawn ;)

QOTD- what, if any, Father's Day plans do you & your family have?
Our only plan is to go to the cemetery to "visit" my FIL. We're meeting my MIL and SIL there. I don't think we'll be long, though. We have a few gifts for DH from all of us (my mom, Josh, and me) - a polo shirt, a "nice" t-shirt, and a pile of PEZ. (One of them is a "special" Marilyn Monroe one that, the more I look at it, I think I may have given him already... :confused3 )
QOTD - Do you like to eat leftovers? Are there leftovers that you don't care for/avoid?
Depends on what it is. Chinese is one of the BEST leftovers! Certain Italian dishes are better the second and third time around; the longer it sits, the more the flavors meld. Like lasagna. And then there are some things that I don't particularly like the first time around, so I never touch the leftovers. Like sloppy joes and pot roast. Speaking of beef, though, I LOVE a good steak, but I prefer it somewhat rare, so if I have leftovers, it gets overcooked when you reheat it :(

Josh has been testing me something awful in just the 3 weekdays since school ended. We had a nice Wednesday morning; we went to the theatre and saw Trolls World Tour. It was actually a good movie, great music (of course), and we loved that Ozzy Osbourne did one of the voices ;) And it was a mere $1.50 per ticket, and there were only 2 other people in the theatre. But the rest of the day was a whinefest :sad2: Thursday was also a whiny day, and he badgered me to go around the corner to the playground. When we got there, there was a group of teenage girls hanging around under one of the playscapes, and I guess we were bothering them because they left after a few minutes. Then they started to come back, but when they saw us still there, they turned around and left. About an hour after we arrived, a little girl showed up with her bike (and her mom). She was only a year younger than Josh, so they ran around together and took turns on her bike. We'd been there for quite a while, though, and I was getting sunburned, but I couldn't get him to leave. My mom finally texted that she was coming to pick us up, even though we were only a mile away. He had to eat dinner and get ready for his last gymnastics class of the year. We're glad he chose that over tee ball - they had a little ceremony and gave out certificates and medals. They had set up a little backdrop in their upstairs karate room for photos, too.

Yesterday we spent the day at my MIL's with my SIL and BIL. Mom rented a dumpster and we're trying to clean out the garage and basement. My FIL never threw ANYTHING away. I can't believe how much room they have in their garage now. We put a lot of useable things at the curb, and one of their neighbors came over and took a lot of the stuff. I also boxed up a few of the really nice things to take to the thrift store in our town that helps with programs for the disabled. My SIL cleaned out all of the cans of paint - they've had that house for 50 years and Dad never disposed of even ONE can of paint. There must have been 30 gallon cans, plus some assorted small cans of stain and what have you. It's quite a project.

Just got word that Mom and my SIL are going to be at the cemetery in a few minutes. Hope they'll wait for us. Happy Father's Day to all the dads/grandpas/dad figures out there!

Good morning.

Just back from church and stopped for a Duck Donut after. That was DH's FD gift from me but I did get him a card.

Our Father's Day celebration was yesterday with the kids but DD is stopping by today on the way to her FIL's to celebrate. I realized that my father has been gone from us for 25 years now. I have so much I want him to know.

@apirateslifeforme, life is tough when you're a kid. Good luck this summer.

@sweetpeama, so glad that your cat is back.

@Pea-n-Me, thanks for the pictures. Sounds and looks like you are having a great time.

Not sure what the rest of today will bring.

Sorry Carol, I know how you feel. My father has been gone for 28 years. My parents were divorced when I was 5, and I didn't really see him much after that, nor did I know my Dad that well. After he died, I found out I had a brother that I had never even known about. I would like to be able to talk to my father and ask him a lot of questions about his life :(

Well, as usual..stepdaughter just changed the plan. Instead of coming tonite with all 4 kids..she's coming in an hour with only 3. :( So we still won't have seen all 4 kids together for 1 1/2 years. It's not like they live a zillion miles away,,they live in WV, lol! Oldest has to work later I guess..so he will come out another time. With covid and my hubby's health issues,,going to visit them wasn't an option..and the 2 boys work with the public, and were around too many people, making it not safe for them to come here either. She's worried about their flight tomorrow. Her and the 2 girls are flying to SC to spend a week with her Mom,,and none of them have flown before and they are all nervous about it. And her Mom (and her boyfriend) have been there a month or so..and still have no bedroom furniture and just a couch and chair i in the living room, so they are going to have to make do for sleeping arrangements somehow. Our SIL is on the road, so the 2 boys will be home alone, I hope they have enough sense to call us if there is an emergency! (they are 21 and 17 so old enough to be responsible enough, I hope!) Its 90 degrees outside..HOT HOT HOT...hubby loved his Ninja Smoothie maker..is already making plans on what to make with it first..my guess will be milkshakes tonite, lol!
