@Kirby if you get the chance to go solo do it. I was hesitant the first time I went alone but now I love it. I am an amateur photographer and when I travel with other people, my mom, I feel like I am a bother. When I travel solo if I want to spend 10 minutes waiting for the perfect shot I don't care because there is no one to be annoyed with me. Of course at times I do get some odd looks from other people. One time at the zoo I had my camera pointed at an empty rock. People would look in and then look at me like I was crazy. There was a dragonfly that I was trying to get. Dragonflies will keep going back to the same spot so I patiently waited and O got a great picture. If I had been with my family I would have missed it.

@flyingdumbo127 - I do have some walking issues but I get an ECV for the trip. It allows me the freedom to move around without pain. Of course you do have to be careful you don't run yourself over. I did that last year and hurt my already bad knee. On the plus side the bruise looked like a Hidden Mickey.

One of the things I learned traveling with my family and a friend I met here on the boards years ago, take some time away from each other. My friend and I have taken trips to WDW a few times and we found that she likes to spend some time in the afternoon at the resort and I like to keep going. She takes her rest and I go on things she doesn't really enjoy. On one trip I managed to do all 4 parks in one day, 5 if you count that we opened and closed the day at MK for Rock Your Disney Side and it was Star Wars Weekend. It was the best trip ever. My husband really isn't a huge Disney fan, and can't do a lot of the rides anymore, but he loves to people watch. I do some of the things I like and he parks himself on a bench and just talks to people. I am hoping it works that way again this trip. He said he is now looking forward to the trip so hopefully he really is, he has been known to say what he thinks I want to hear.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

I read earlier promising news that on June 15th the tiers including mask mandate is being dropped here in CA. Businesses have their own (mask) choice. Promising news indeed especially on my birthday, one step closer.

So glad your travels are going well, Easyas!

Have fun, Snowysmom::MickeyMo::MinnieMo and thank you, my friend.

Taz Dev, you much have just posted ahead of me! Thank you for sharing about the ECV. I have considered that for the future. I think lol I'd be afraid to run someone over! I just do get tired more easily and DL is a ton of walking. That is a great picture point! And very wise advice also about taking a break from whoever you are traveling with for a bit of down time.

Big hugs and heartfelt thanks to all of you. Truly I think of each of you as a gift from God in my life. I am so grateful. Thank you, thank you, also to PollyannaMom for the fun birthday image and to you, DazedX3 for the adorable smilies and your kind words as well. I appreciate you--each of you!

Here are some birthday taken pictures courtesy of my Dad. So that Evergreen wouldn't be sideways I had to crop the photo. I know it looks a little strange but, still you can see that God is keeping him growing green. I'll try to take a better picture next time I go out.

:love:from here to each of you there and sweet dreams!

Happy birthday, Mona!

And now, for my "traditional" social media birthday greeting...

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear MMMMMMMMMoooooooonnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaa!
Happy birthday to yyyyyyyoooouuuuuuu!

(And many mmmooooooorrrrrrrreeeeeeee!)

You share a birthday with my Nana, my mom's mom. She lived to be 96. She was born in 1906 and remembers World War 1! From the time her husband died until she was 90 (over 20 years) she lived alone, and walked a mile nearly every day to get groceries. She was an amazing woman.

By the way, there was a question of the day about how you remember what to respond to on this board... I'll admit, I get a bit overwhelmed (maybe because I wasn't here from "the beginning") and mostly skim. So if I don't respond to your post, or don't like it or anything, I promise, it's not you. It's me.

And by the way, if I ever get anyone's name wrong on here or just use your username, it's me. It's all me, okay? Someitmes I'm just not "good" at message boards! Ha!

Quick stop back in before heading offline for the evening.

I'm glad you liked the pictures, Carol. Jacaranda trees are so pretty indeed. The only downside is they drop those purple buds stickily everywhere! I just Googled crepe myrtle tree, Lynn has mentioned :), and those do look similar to Jacarandas and are what I've seen with white and reddish flowers. I think Jacarandas are only purple?

Aw, thank you, Allison! God Bless your nana! Thank you for sharing a little about her with us. I'm honored to share my birthday with her, very cool.

Sweet dreams all!

Good Thursday morning all. An even 40 degrees outside, going to mid 60's. I got about 6 hours sleep last nite, but still haven't made up for the only 2-3 I got the night before, but I'll catch up eventually. If my back and knee allow it, I need/want to till the garden today or tomorrow. Its going to need it done at least 2 more times before I plant. But with this nutty weather, the plants are all staying in the greenhouse will it really feels like time to plant them.

@flyingdumbo127--such pretty pictures, your Dad was so nice to take them for you. BTW,,our crepe myrtles aren't pink and white, they are purplish, so there must be a few different varieties. Your Jaracanda tree is very pretty,,and I am glad that Evergreen is doing so well!

Have a nice morning everyone!4afb930d2455efb88551a68cfd1f7edd.jpg

Morning everyone.

@flyingdumbo127 love the pics of the flowers, very nice of your dad to get them for you. The Jacaranda Tree is really pretty. I get the sticky flowers thing. Years ago when I was a Crossing Guard there was a Gecko tree by my corner. When it flowered it smelled like dead and rotten fish and then the flowers dropped and you brought that smell home with you on your shoes. The price of beauty.

Full schedule today. Church distribution starting at 10. That goes to about 1 PM. then I have a haircut appointment at 2. Need to get my car washed and vacuumed out and then I have to figure out a quick dinner because Anthony has a baseball game at 5:15. I really don't want to do the food thing but I will.

I think the source of my moods have been tied up with the church, my mom and the food bank. I know it's relatively stupid but all year I dropped everything to drive 10 miles at all hours of the day to pick up the food. I didn't really mind that much. Then the priests wife got a job at the school her kids attend and my mom and another woman, who never did more than help out at the distribution, were put in charge. I really know it's petty but I feel under valued. I wasn't even asked. Just told one day there was a pause and then my mom's in charge. I offered to go down when the other foods are available and was told we aren't concerned with that right now. That pick up offered so much more than these boxes. Meats, vegies, fruits, canned goods, baked goods, etc. I know people are upset about it and I was willing to do the pick up, I saw the need of the neighborhood and I really wanted to help. These boxes are the same thing every week: Milk, a couple yogurts, processed cheese, potatoes, onions, hot dogs, a really odd package of chicken and sometimes apples. The other site had more shelf sustainable foods and variety.

The priest gets mad at me because I value my grandsons ball games above God and the church as he put it. This is not true. I thank God that I have the ability to be there for my grandchildren. Big difference. Yes I blow off meetings if the boys have a game because when I am long gone I want my grandkids to remember that I was there for them, not that I was great at going to meetings. The church is just a building and I have always said I would rather praise God walking in the woods than sitting in a building with a bunch of hypocrites. And I personally don't think I should be judged by the priest over my choices.

Oh well. I am off to sort through pictures again. I came up with a new addition to my categorizing them. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning.

The next three days are going to be all about getting the house, yard, and food ready for Carter's party Sunday. We have two little dorm fridges so I am chilling drinks. I have boiled the eggs for deviled eggs and potato salad. Getting ready to head out to the grocery store for all the veggies I need for a veggie platter and potato salad. DH rented a truck and we just loaded it with all the old fence rails that were replaced and he is heading to the landfill. I have a daily list of what needs to be accomplished. Yesterday I got the second floor, including the two bathrooms, cleaned. I'll save the first floor to Saturday.

Tomorrow DD has off work and we are going dress shopping for the upcoming shower and wedding. She needs new things since the baby.

QOTD - Do you like to do puzzles?
I have become addicted to jigsaw puzzles since the pandemic. I find they take my mind off other things. I also do Sudukos, jigsaw puzzles, and a daily crossword on the computer. I think they help keep my brain functioning.

QOTD: yes, puzzle are my jam. Jigsaw puzzles; suduko, logic problems; even escape rooms are fun! Crosswords not so much.

love the talk of gardens and plants and such. I have a black thumb. I got an Easter Lily plant to live for just over a year once, but it only bloomed at the start; that's my claim to fame, haha.

@tazdez3225 It sucks when you are undervalued for your contributions. I hope you find something that fulfills you, and that you are recognized for your efforts.

I'm not religious, and a big part of the reason why is the belief of some religions that you have to give all to the church first, then family second; that you have to follow all their rules or you aren't a good person, even if the rules are archaic; or the pick and choose which teachings to follow.

On a lighter note..I went and got a haircut...first time since early March 2020. I went from mid-back length to jawbone length. I'm not sure if I dont like the cut, or if it's because this is the shortest I've ever gone (before, only to right above shoulders)... the stylist really didn't listen too much to what I was saying, but it's done. /shrug

Waving hi and Good Morning! :)

What wise words from Jiminy, Lynn! :) Hug to you, my friend, and I truly hope you get some extra rest today! The weather out there indeed sounds like it can't make up its mind! Interesting about crepe myrtles out there. What is the difference (is there one)? between them and Jacarandas?

Hus, Taz Dev, sounds like it's time for you to find a new church! I learned the hard, taxiing way after a few years that literally exhausting myself to getting sick from doing WAY too much was not what God wanted for me at all! Pandemic aside, of course the last year+ truly has been an enormous Blessing. I am healthier all-around than I have ever been quite possibly. One day post pandemic, I would love to be active again at either my current church or a new one, especially helping to get Smile Squad up and running. But I know it is not up to me to try and take on everything, all the time! I pray all I have given at my church has been for His glory indeed. I am truly thankful to have been able to do so. There were definitely times I did not feel appreciated. Being told a simple thank you by a pastor or priest in your case, once in a while is indeed not asking too much! I need to go forward with lighter, more closely followed steps unto the path He leads my feet! PM me anytime if you'd like to chat about this more.

I hope Carter has a lot of fun on Sunday, Carol! :) QOTD - Do you like to do puzzles? YES! The problem is lol no one has them, well Dollar Tree doesn't that is. I admit to not having the puzzle patience for more than 200 pieces which makes puzzles (100-200 pieces) harder to find. I do have vague memories of growing up and putting together much larger puzzles over time. We just don't have the puzzle storage space for that now plus I don't think I'd enjoy working with even smaller pieces! One thing that Dollar Tree does have that is also fun are Super Play Pad Jumbos. They are aimed at children but adults I've shared them with all have enjoyed! They have Fill-ins, word searches that are yes more kid themed, hidden pictures, dot to dot, etc. I usually don't much care for adult type word search books because the puzzles are too long! Dollar Tree used to have some Disney word searches which were fun (Maybe 10 words at most). Dad loves crosswords and daily does the LA Times puzzle.

Hug, B&B. First off, I'm glad you were able to get your haircut! I'm sorry you might not like the result :( I do hope especially with summer coming you'll find, if even temporarily until it grows back, a shorter do handy :) ITA about some church policies and operations. It is, IMO, not up to us (humans) to layout judgment upon another on what=a fulfilling life or acceptance into a fold! That is both archaic and I believe also NOT in good service.

The new interim minister has arrived at my church. It'll be interesting to hear his first sermon.

Have a terrific Thursday, friends!

It is absolutely gorgeous outside. 67 degrees, full sun , blue skies, white clouds, nice breeze. I got my little decorative wheelbarrel planter out of the shed, gave it a coat of polyurethane, and will fill it later. I have wave petunias, dracana and geraniums to put in it. Then I weeded around our cypress tree. We bought that when we bought this house in 2003, brought it home from Walmart with the 6 foot tree sticking out of the window. We paid $10 for it. That tree is so tall it looks like it belongs in a forest now , lol. After I weeded I put down 4 bags of mulch around it to keep it from getting too dry when we don't get any rain. Also did laundry , so all my chores are done for the day. Tilling the garden will have to wait till tomorrow.

@Bianca and Bernard. I am in the same boat as you..haven't had my hair cut since last May. Its too long and it's a pain, I get it cut just above the chin, and then I am always having to tuck it behind my ears or put a barrette in it. Cannot find a length that isn't hard for me to take care of..and I don't care for short short hair, so that one is out. But I am also tired of having to put my scrunchie back in it to hold back the ponytail 20x a day! :(
@Breezy_Carol--sounds like you have your hands full. Your whole house and yard will be spring cleaned and all ready for Carter's party on Sunday,,I hope the weatherman changes the forecast before then. Calling for 66 and 52% chance of rain :(
@flyingdumbbo127--glad that your interim minister has arrived, I hope he works out well until they can find a permanent one.

QOTD..didn't we already have this one? I didn't see a new one listed in the last day or so about puzzles, unless I missed it. I like to do jigsaw puzzles when I have the time (the 1000 piece one I started this winter is still only 1/2 finished and rolled up in the storage tube), I love to do cryptograms,,hubby loves to do crossword puzzles.

QOTD - Do you like to do puzzles?

I really enjoy jigsaw puzzles but don’t always feel like devoting the space to having one set up. I did several during the early part of the pandemic, though!

I also like Sudukos and crosswords, plus the ones where you have to fit the shapes into a larger shape (like Tangrams or Tetris). I have a few different apps on my phone, and tend to play them in the summer, when I’m not working. - I agree they help keep the brain functioning!

Lynn, I have not had my haircut since before Christmas, 2019! I have very fine hair that dries out/tangles quickly. I did find semi helpful a leave in conditioner spray from Great Clips. Trouble is a lot of it has to be used for it to work :P Dad may have to trim my hair this summer! It's usually medium length. I had very short hair as a young child and did not care for it. It was easier to care for! :) I hope you are able to find a happy new style that works for you, my friend.

PollyannaMom, I used to love playing computer Tetris! I should Google free versions. I also liked playing Classic Concentration on the computer when we had a Vista PC for a brief period. The TV show is on BuzzR just as an FYI. The constant clicking sound of cards turning doesn't work for me but it was fun to see once :)

QOTD - Do you like to do puzzles?

yes, we always take a 1,000 piece one to work on at the beach while waiting turns for showers after being in the waves.
i play a daily one on my phone where you stack blocks to fit in one another to make rows, like Tetris. I have several word games ones too, but I like math more so lean towards those
