Update:

Hilton System still down, however the extremely nice young lady at the Hilton Disney Springs took down our special circumstance info and was able to add it to our reservation from her end. She pushed our cancelation from 10 PM tonight to 9 AM on Thursday. If we get stranded and can't say for sure I'll be there on Thursday, you all will hear me yelling from the side of 95 somewhere! haha!

I bought some marigolds yesterday and planted them around the tomatoes. And a plant called Lantana, because it was pretty and I had a pot that had some pansies and needed something else.
I put a yellow and orange flower Lantana plant in my front bed this year. I hope that it will come back next year. Lantana has a pretty good track record down here, a lot of people use it. What color did you get?

Today turned out rainy and cold. It does not feel like May at all. Took cupcakes to preschool for both GKs birthdays. Went to the credit union to close another of my mom's accounts. Then off to Costco to spend my reward certificate. Bought some rotisserie chicken, ribs and books. Still had money left over. I think that it will go in my stash that I use for trips.

Dinner tonight was Lou Lou's birthday pick, corn on the cob and salad with rotisserie chicken. And, of course, cake!

Good morning all. Its a chilly 37 outside, does not feel like almost the middle of May for sure. Going to mid 60's so I guess it will feel 'okay' later on. Its grocery day, and I may stop at Lowes and see if they have any Lantana, since some of you have mentioned it. Looked it up and it's pretty!
Knees are stiff and sore after yardwork, which I expected, I may just take a gander at riding mowers while at Lowes too, lol!
Have a nice morning, will be back after errands and shopping to report in.

My brother in law's almost 96 year old Mother passed away early Saturday morning,,they are having a very limited visiting and funeral, but we are staying away. Due to hubby's health issues, Sister in Law said she would rather us not take any chances at all.

Sorry to hear about her passing. It is always so hard even when someone has lived into their 90s when you loose someone. Your sister in law sounds like a considerate person to tell you not to take any chances with your DH's health issues. Hopefully they can plan something larger later when it is safer to visit in their or your area.
Though we are still waiting to be able to have a larger memorial service for my DH's aunt who passed away in early April 20 from long term effects of a stroke she had in June 19 that she never fully recovered from. Of course the family is so spread out and that is just her kids, grandkids, and great grands that are living independently so having to wait until it is safe for everyone to be able to travel from all over the country and I am not sure but there are even some of the family that are in the mission field overseas though they may have been stateside on a fundraising furlo when everything hit and are just waiting to return due to travel restrictions.

Happy Tuesday
i planted some zinnias and cosmos from seeds awhile back, they sprouted right away, but now seem not to have grown. Ideas anyone ?? I watered them again and moved to a sunnier window, hoping some survive so i can plant them outside in late may

It could be a variety of things from over to under watering to even the soil that you used. Garden soil is different than potting soil. Even the tempature can affect things. Of course when I have gardening questions I call my local extension service and talk to the horticulture expert on them. Between that, Consumer Science questions that are usually along the lines of I see I can subsitute x, y, or z for a and I am thinking that x is going to be my best option for what I am making what do you think conversations and of course calling for various 4-H things I can recognize just about everyone's voices when they answer even beyond the office manager and assistant office manger. When they call back I can even recognize who is calling by their outgoing numbers.

Now onto the past few days.

Sunday I got to sleep in until I got up. I had wanted to make it to church but feel back asleep until after 12:30. DH had taken the day off so he took 16 year old into work. We went as a family to pick her up after a 6 hour shift and then we went and had dinner at Olive Garden. She had such an appriciation of the servers and thier having to deal with the public and she is just taking phone orders and seating people who walk in for her job. We did end up packing up a lot of our meals to take home and enjoy later due to being full and it being so late. I had the chicken and shrimp carbonara which is one of my favorite dishes.
When DH got done dropping 16 year old off at work he and 13 year old went shopping for Mother's Day Cards and dropped MIL's by her house. He said he thought about dropping the one for my mom off but didn't and it along with mine still have not been delivered.

Monday was supposed to be 4-H meeting but since half the kids couldn't be there so it got moved to next week. The kids were supposed to bring their drawings and ideas for coming up with what the club is doing for the mural spot at the fairgrounds so it could be turned in this week as it is due on Saturday. Since I was the adult in charge of this initially I suggested a committee meeting on Wednesday. The dictator organizational leader declared that the kids will now submit their drawings via text and then everyone will vote on them. The kids decided at the April meeting that they wanted to bring ideas and come up with something together after discussing if they wanted to wait and come up with an idea at the May meeting or have it as a contest. I am upset not so much that I was pushed aside and not consulted about the change of plans when we had to change the meeting date after I said I would call the county extension office and that I was waiting to hear back but at the kids having what they voted on doing taken over and changed. I need to call sometime Wed or Thursday to a church in the smaller town near me and see if we can use the building for meeting next year as it has gotten to the point where there are a few of us parents who are tired of our kids being walked over and not being allowed to have a voice in decisions because an adult is dictating how things will be done and are banning together to start a new club. A few of the older kids who know to keep things on the down low know what is going on but those ones have also come to me and one other parent who is going to be my co organizational leader asking us to please see if we can do something.
Tuesday DH and 16 year old went to Best Buy to pick up the refriderator I had ordered to replace our barely working one. You literally think it has stopped working and of course it started working again after I ordered the new one, just like the microwave did a couple of years ago when we replaced it. Didn't work for over a week and when payday came and DH went to town to pick out the one I had chosen in the store it all of a sudden started working. I think my appliances are on a we don't want to be replaced mode. The original plan was to put the old fridge in the basement as a soda and water fridge with just ice cube trays in the freezer section. That way if it did completely stop working nothing would be ruined. DH now wants to add the fridge to the stuff in the yard and just take the door off. Hello we need to get stuff moved in the yard because we need to get the grass mowed down and I don't need to hear from my dad how messy things are getting I already hear enough of that.

They got home and it was a project to get the door off and the fridge in the house but it is in and sitting in the front room which is all the further they got. DH didn't get home from work until close to 3 am so it is going to be moved into it's spot in the kitchen after he gets some rest. Once it is set up and plugged in we will have to wait 24 hours before we can use it so the few things that we will need to keep close at hand will go in the smaller hardside cooler on the floor and the rest will be put in the current basement fridge. The one that is about 12 years older than the one that is not working fully which I had to purchase from the previous renter in the rental that I lived in at first and later we lived in as a family. Yes I had a 2 bedroom rental with a bonus room (could not be called a bedroom because of having no closet) as a single person (did have a roommate for a few months but she moved out after her mother convienced her that I was a terrible person because I would not move to a different place. Hmm 300 a month for where I was in a decent neighborhood not well to do but well established where I had off street parking and a yard to move to a town house that would cost 900 a month with on street parking only in yes a better class neighborhood but also in a part of town that is a bit issolated and has basically one way out and one way in until you get to one spot and then you have a couple of different options. When there is a wreck along the main road forget it traffic comes to a complete stand still unless you know a couple of way out your way sneak routes out of the area and by that I mean 15-20 miles plus out of your way so you better have pleanty of time. One of them has a good 10 miles that is gravel and it is full of curves and hills so your not going much over 25. No way in creation that either of us could have afforded the rent on that place alone if the other one moved out and since while rentals were not as bad then as they are now it was sill hard it would mean basically taking the first warm body who came and could afford to take over the other half of the rent-not happening. I did not care on iota that it had a dishwasher and a nice balcony/deck in the back.
Went and took pictures of the club's spot for painting I am going to pick one in a couple of hours and sent it out so everyone can have an idea what the spot looks like. After I took the pictures 13 year old and I headed back across town and were in line at the drive thru just one vehicle from the payment window when 16 year old called that she was off work. Since she and DH had to be at work at the same time and they work less than 3 miles apart he dropped her off a bit early and she got her poki stops around her work done. I did add onto the order at the payment window so she would have something to eat as well. Normally we would have just waited till we got home but she needed some more tubs for putting things in as she had used up all the ones she had cleaning out her room. She has decided she wants to move back upstairs to the main part of the house-DH says it is because she is tired of being cold.

DH's poor cat had a very hard day yesterday.
Wake me up at 6:30 to go outside
When 16 year old gets up and makes her way upstairs time to come in the house for what is normally nap time instead
had to supervise 16 year old cleaning her room.
Short break to get something to eat while they were gone and then had to suprrvise the get the fridge in the house project.
To top it off she got locked in the basement when 16 year old and DH left to go to work.
3 am I get a phone call from 16 year old after DH had been home about 10 minutes asking me to have him come down and get his cat when he got home.
She is currently out side but I am sure she will be supervising the get the fridge set up project later.

Thanks for all the suggestions, the seeds were leftover from last year, so if they don’t grow I’m only out the price of the soil. I just thought i would give it a chance. I did get some pretty gerber daisies, portlatica ( or something like that), and a star flower from relatives for Mother’s Day. I just can’t put anything outside till later this month. It frosted last night. I usually buy ipatients, petunias, marigolds, etc to plant or put in pots around Memorial day. happY Wednesday

Good morning.

@Kirby, the color of Lantana I got was called Bandana Pink. It is a light pink with a little yellow. @lynxstch, beware. I picked it because it is pretty and the guy at the green house pointed out that I picked about the most expensive plant he had. LOL It was $7 for a 4 inch pot.

What I continue to look for is red Celosia' I have a small area by the front step that I plant it and it often comes back from reseeding itself so I like to get the same thing each year. I can't find it this year.

Good day to you all -

I may be sporadic in my posting over the next 7 days, but I'll try to keep up! Told a few other folks I'd keep them up to date with real time gas info.
Got our emergency box of triscuits packed, and are headed on our way down 95 S thru the states experiencing the gas shortage. Leaving in about a hour or so. Concerned but confident, so trying not to dwell on it. Gotta go either way, so go we will.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone🐥

Wow, enjoyed all the extra shares. Be safe Easyas! Yes, let's see some palm trees. I will share a picture later or maybe next week when they are more in bloom of the jacaranda trees on my street. I do love reading posts of flowers being got and planted. Impatiens always are special to me because we planted those in Champ's memorial garden one year. They really are so colorful and pretty.

I was not going to share this until later because I am a private person and also do not intend (or want) to make a big deal out of it especially publicly. You are all my Quacker family and because of that on this day, my birthday, I do give extra thanks to God for His gift to me in each of you and keeping us all connected. Truly thank you all for your love, faith, friendship, support, and cheer for over a year now and I pray forever ahead, let's stay in touch. God Bless you all with love from CA.

:bday: @flyingdumbo127 I hope you have a nice day.

Good morning everyone...still trying to adjust to not having my mom. Before she went into the hospital in January, we spoke to each other everyday and almost saw each other that often too. In the hospital, it got a little harder to speak as often but we still spoke alot. So many things come up and I think I need to show or tell my mom and then I remembered I can't. :sad1:

So last week when my mom took a turn, I was in San Francisco with my DH. I ended up flying home the day before she passed. DH came home for the weekend and I drove back up with him on Monday. It's been a nice little getaway, spending time with my hubby. He's been the best this past week, he organized all the details regarding cremation so my dad didn't have to do it and just being a support to us all. My sister and I are planning a celebration of life for next month which will be in the backyard at our house.

I've just skimmed the post the past few days so I'll go back through and read some of what I've missed but from her on out I'm trying really hard to keep up.

Hope you all have a good rest of your day.:grouphug:

@flyingdumbo127 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you have a wonderful day.

Afternoon all. Been AWOL a couple days, just been in an off mood again.
I had an eye appointment yesterday, just a minor tweak to my prescription but the doctor did notice some "baby cataracts'. Of course I should have known better but reached out to my mom who just said that's what happens when you get old. Now I am not looking forward to my birthday at all.

I did get to see LJ yesterday. He is getting so big. He is smiling and babbling now. He's also trying to figure out how to roll over and scoots backwards on his butt somehow. He arches his back and when he comes down he scoots. He is such a happy and pleasant baby. I am so glad we are all vaccinated now so we can spend some time together. After the visit I stopped by the scene of a Mother's Day fire, It was a 2 alarm blaze and destroyed the church my aunt belonged to before she moved to Florida years ago. My cousins were all baptized there and went to school there so it was upsetting. To see the utter devastation of this historic old church was sad.

I was just looking at pictures from my trip to Disney last year before the world turned upside down and really wish I could have gone down on a solo trip this year. I love my husband and family but I really need me time to just get my head back on straight. I am planning a trip in December with my husband but he is not a fan of Disney and I am sort of forcing him to go. I may decide to let him out of the trip before I book airfare. I wish we could get on the same page.

Oh well I have a free night tonight before there are ballgames for the next 4 days. I do love watching the boys play. My grandson Anthony is starting to get a reputation in the tournament league they play in. He is seen as the best player on his team. It's always nice to hear that. He is such a good kid, quiet, polite, straight A's and a tremendous ball player. If he would just get up for school on time. He is NOT a morning person.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

That's about the right price for Lantana down here depending on where you buy it. I've seen Bandana Pink, it's pretty! I've never tried to grow Celosia but may give it a try sometime.

@easyas123, Safe travels!

I've thought about a solo trip from time to time but never taken the plunge. Every time I do go on a trip it seems that everything is in such disarray when I return that it almost doesn't seem worth it to leave. Once DD and GKs get their own place maybe I'll feel differently.

Afternoon hug to all and thank you B&B, Taz Dev, and Kirby, for the extra birthday wishes! I am having a nice day. Extra Blessing truly to be able to spend this day with my Dad both of us in great health, thanks to and with God. Blessing also to, of course, feel extra love and cheer, prayers from friends :)

:hug:Taz Dev. Brighter note, hooray for LJ and Anthony, both bursts of joy I am so grateful you have in your life :)

Kirby, when I was much younger and didn't have some of the health/walking limitations and preferences I do now, I did spend some time solo at DL. It was fine for what it was then. For me, as I got older, I realized it meant so much more to be there with either my Dad or a friend. I do think to you, Taz Dev, and of course anyone else :), it might be fun to try a few hours or part of a day solo so you could experience both (time with someone and on your own) Might be a fun compromise.

Happy birthday 🎉🎁🎂

Good luck @easyas123. Post a picture of palm trees when you get there.

Will do!
We are about 100 miles north of South Carolina border.... stopped at Bowling Green, VA and Micro, NC for gas.... no problem getting it, so far so good! Lots of traffic so these other folks not finding problems getting gas either! Hopefully our luck continues!

@easyas123 and @lynxstch, Governor Hogan spoke this afternoon. He is basically lifting all restrictions with the exception that a mask will still be required indoors. Opening restaurants and businesses at full capacity. And the port of Baltimore will reopen. One step closer to cruising.

Thanks for that, I just thought to look up local news to see what he had to say but checked my email first 🤣
